It was the L1/L2 ribbon cable as far as I can remember, that's 99% of the time the problem when people can't get their pad to work.
If you check the L1/L2 ribbon, just see if it's in the right way as it's so easy to put it in wrong

Just put the put wire back in that come with the original controller kept the right side in and it’s all working fine you just don’t need to fit the L1 L2 ribbon
Just want to add my advice on this. Just after you snap in those two buttons to the new back plate of the controller, don't worry that your buttons aren't making that satisfying "click" feel just yet. That will specifically happen after you screw in the little micro board on top.
I remember panicking just after fastening those buttons as they weren't clicking and I immediately wondered where I went wrong. Turns out I was jumping the gun a little!

Great news 😁 I think you hold the record for the fastest time so far, normally takes people double that time. If you done it again you might even half you're time 👍
For anyone having issues remapping and getting the quick red flash when you hold the back button for 5 seconds, double check 9:22 on the video and make sure you are putting the connector over the top of the clear plastic piece! I made the mistake of putting it behind and then covering with the plastic piece. Completely fixed my remapping issue and is working perfectly now!
I have to ask, do the back buttons have any sort of cheating stuff? I really want to use it on COD and Fortnite but I’m scared I’m gonna get banned because I don’t know if there are any cheating services in the control board. (Sorry if my English is bad but it isn’t my native language)
No no cheats, Sony actually sell controllers with back buttons and companys like Scuf

The only time you'd get your account banned is if your on PC and use wallhacks or something. Being on console the only thing people can use is a Cronus

Always great news to hear when somebody's kit install went smoothly, few people these past days have had issues not putting the ribbons in, but second or third try they've done it 😁 hope you have fun with the kit 👍
Cheers mate, great instructions, first time I went through it wouldnt turn on, so I checked the battery which seemed to be connected fine. I took out all the new cables and stuff and plugged in the original ps5 ones and it worked. So I re followed the instructions and then it worked with the new paddles, guessing it was a loose connection. User error though, instructions were great! If it had worked first time it would have been like 45 minutes but it took me nearly 1hr 15 as I had to do it a second time.
1hr 15mins is still good going, I remember once somebody said it took them 5hrs lol.
Lately people have been putting the ribbons cables in the wrong way, like you say just an error but easily fixed

If you ever did it again for say a friend or yourself I bet you'd do it in half that time know you know how it all goes together and stuff.

So i think im having issues. Around 9:22. i tried placing the golden thing into the back part of the controller but its too small to place into both parts.

I'm sure you'd have been fine no matter which video you watched. People watch these videos and think they're harder than they look, but the main thing is giving it a go.
Luckily out of all the views I've had there's only been a few people who've needed a little extra help, which I've managed to fix so all good.

I'm from the build-it-yourself hardware era of childhoods (you know, pc's and so on) - sounds like you are too. It's been countless years since I was hands on, even with something on the simpler end of the spectrum. So, as I'm sure you can see from all the comments, it was massively satisfying to tear something apart and re-build it in your image (without trying to sound biblical, LOL). And the best part is not spending 4x the price on a SCUF! So thanks buddy! ❤️.

Yup I've always taken stuff apart and put it back together. I took my Dyson hoover one Saturday apart just to clean when I was bored 😄
Scuf controllers are good, but they break really quick and you only get 6 months, plus like you say super expensive.

Well the two mods I always recommend is the back buttons and digital triggers, I'd only recommend the triggers if you only play FPS games or have another controller for say racing games.
I get asked all the time if I prefer the 2 button or 4, 4 just seems to many buttons to me, I've tried but can't get used to them... this kit you've got with the 2 is perfect got 99% of people

@@RECKYPOOO yeah the Touch pad does work perfectly fine. Only thing is i cant remap the touch pad button to the back buttons because i didnt want to solder…

I was having a HUGE problem that I could not locate, it wouldn't turn on. Flash yellow, sometimes work only when pulled apart... My advice, pay attention to the way the slips go into the latches! It has to be the correct side up!!! Specifically the one on the left side! Make sure to copy what side is up and match with video
Few people have had this problem, I've told them it's usually the L1/L2 ribbon.

Hello, I don’t know if it’s too late to ask questions but . I followed this tutorial to the teeth & everything worked perfect & smooth but I couldn’t get past the ps5 menu. It would load up the game but not respond to any buttons except when I went back to ps5 menu. Then when I finally got passed that I realized all buttons work perfectly even back paddles except for L2 😢 😢any suggestions???

Did you exit remap mode? You press the back button in the middle to enter it, set your K1, K2 etc, then hold it again to exit

Oh no, why do I have an extra cable? It's a really thin L shaped cable with two small contact holes. Edit: Okay it looks like it's an optional cable to remap your touchpad to the back buttons.
Yeah that's only if you want to remap L3 or R3 to the back buttons, 99% of people only want X and O

I had a quick question, maybe someone can answer for me. I know you have to solder the L3/R3 to remap those buttons, but let’s say I don’t solder them, does the L3/R3 still work?

Yeah they still work as normal, just means you can't have them as back buttons

There's not much to these controllers so not much can go wrong.
Did you double check you've fitted the right version kit, as in BDM-010, 020, 030 or 040
Just bought a new controller to install this kit into, and it looks like my controller is a bdm 030. I’m going now to return it and try again with another controller, but is there any way that I can check if the controller is a bdm 020 while I’m in the store?
I've been asked this one so many times, unfortunately I don't think there is a way. The only controllers I know ONLY come in a 030 are the camo design and the God Of War. Then the silver, purple, pink and starlight blue only ever came in 020 but they might have even put the 030 board in them.
Extremerate said they'll have a working kit for the 030 in a month or two!

Have you syned your pad to the PS5? Did you also exit remap mode one you picked the buttons you want

Have you held the remap button on the back for about 6 seconds until its a solid light? Then remapped your buttons to make it flash, then hold the button for 6 seconds to exit remap mode
I was doing so well. Followed up the steps until I realized my package didn’t come with the little metal bars that attach the back buttons 😢

Hey craig I need your help. Before I buy this I play competitive cod and I was wondering it the back made it heavier? Or feel bigger in your hands
I've only got tiny hands anyways and find it really comfortable, never had anybody say it's made a difference tbh.
The metal buttons will be heavier, but I much prefer the plastic.
If you play CoD I'd also recommend the tactile clicky triggers.
Another thing double check which version pad you have, as since this video they've released a BDM-030

So do you need to solder anything? One video I watched the guy was soldering a couple things.
You only need to solder if you want to remap L3 or R3 to the back buttons, most people don't want this so just skip that part. L3 and R3 still work as normal.

Since this video there's been another controller model released a 030.
How new is your controller?
Yeah L3 and R3 work just as normal, if you don't solder it just means you can't have them as back buttons thats all

Sounds like you haven't connected the ribbons quite right, you'll have to open it up and double check they're lined up

Hello... I was curious if you kight be able to help me out. I tried this mod out and everything has worked fine since putting it back together. Only problem im getting is now my left stick wont register me pushing fully. In all my games it has me walking like im barely pressing the left stick forward, yet it all the way pushed. Do you have any troubleshooting tips?
It sound like you might have knocked something during the install, you might need to open it up and re trace your steps as it really shouldn't be doing that, I've helped thousands of people and never actually heard this problem before!
@Craig's Channel I opened it back up and the yellow ribbon cable wasn't seated properly (from the rise 2 mod) when I put the battery casing back on to the board. When I put it back together correctly everything worked perfect. Thank you for your response I was really frustrated with the issue 😁
It's always an easy fix with these kits not much goes wrong. Some people get really annoyed and comment saying piece of shit, was of money or even worse say its broken their controller 😳 I try my best to help people but some just think they're always right! You're one of the good ones who's fixed the issue yourself, so you should be proud 😁😁

Yeah course, that's as long as you don't do the soldering
Will their triggers, tactile face buttons and paddle system work together?
Like all them on the same pad? I believe I fitted all three once and worked, but wasn't a huge fan of the face buttons so removed them for standard. All I use now is tactile triggers and the back buttons
i have a problem with them. The red light does not stay on it just flickers

Have you checked the rods snapped into place and the two tiny screws are both tight, but don't over tighten them

@@CraigsChannel Yes, everything works on the controller. I get the solid light then the three flashing light and I press the map button to exit.

Really really helpful video. My first time taking the controller apart. Followed through all steps was really simple but i messed up by cutting the wrong ribbon cable. Idk what to do now lol
Drop extremerate a message on Twitter, explain you've messed up and I'm sure they'll send you a couple of new ribbons
Does this come with the mouse click triggers or do they come separately?
Digital triggers are a separate thing, they're called the clicky. Make sure you get the tactile ones, I've a couple of videos on them
Craig, umm for the actual extremerate video it shows soldering, is that only if you want to remap R3 and L3 or the big touchpad
So if you dont solder can you just remap the circle,triangle,square, x and the d pad
Yeah the soldering is only needed IF you want say L3 or R3 as a back button. It works regardless on the main buttons. I just use L3 and zr3 normally and X O as back buttons

When you say you have the good version I'm not sure what you mean?
If its not turning on its more than likely be a ribbon cable the wrong way or not pressed in properly

Is your controller a 010 or 020? Did you cut the right tabs off?
I'd triple check you've got all the ribbons in correctly as that's been the no one problem people have been having when the pad doesn't turn on.
If you've removed them and installed them again, with still no luck.
Drop extremerate a DM on Twitter they'll get straight back to you as it could be a faulty ribbon

I've got two videos up of digital triggers, the clicky and clicky tactile
I've physically disabled the r3 clicker (clipped off the orange plastic inside the thumbstick that would depress internal button). Would i be able to program R3 to one of the rise paddles by remapping it to another button via PS5 custom button assignments, or if I would have to open the controller up and hold it in with a flathead long enough to program the RISE paddle? I'm assuming I would still have to solder the r3/l3 rise paddles either way... Thanks!
I'm not sure which bit you mean and how you disabled R3? It's soldered onto the board. I'd need to see a photo to have an idea which part you mean.
If you wanted to remap R3 or L3 to a back paddle you'd need to do the little bit soldering, it's not a hard job just take your time on it Kory 👍
@@CraigsChannel I constantly click r3 by accident. For the last 3 consoles, I've had to disable r3 on the right thumbstick and mount/solder in a tiny button on the bottom of the controller. I permenately disable r3 by opening the controller and clipping off the orange plastic piece inside the wheel of the thumbstick that preses the switch below it on the board. I can still use the right thumbstick, but when I press down hard, it does not depress and click the internal button below, and performes no function. Because I have done this, the only way I could sync r3 with one of the rise paddles would be to open the controller back up and use a thin screwdriver to depress the actual r3 button underneath the right thumbstick while pressing the paddle. I could do this, but if the rise paddle ever gets reset, I would have to open the controller again to sync it. I was wondering if reassigning r3 to another button in the ps5 would let me press that remapped button and program the r3 function to a paddle... Thanks
I followed the guide correctly. The paddles works. But the right analog stopped working (it is working if I press it, but if I move the analog anything won't happen). What can I do? Right now my controller isn't usable..

Doing these kits DIY is a hell of a lot cheaper than buying one already done, some company's charge £200-250 depending on what mods you want, plus now you have a little knowledge of the inside in case anything ever breaks, you can fix it yourself 😎
@@CraigsChannel exactly 👍🏻👍🏻 Why would someone pay 200$ for a Dualsense Edge when there is a much cheaper way. And as you said, I got an idea how to do it next time if I want to change the controller.

If you look on Amazon there's a photo of all 4 versions of the Dualsense, you can tell which version you have by pressing L2 or R2 then looking at the photo 😁

Sorry for the late reply, have you double checked the ribbon cable at the top of the board. When you remove the back and look straight at the board, it's the ribbon on the very top, hidden behind the battery

Is it the small remap button? Are you putting it the right way? You could maybe sand it down a little if there's plastic in the way or just remove it totally
Hello. I have tried installing this and for some reason i can't get the ribbon to give power to the back buttons. I have done this twice to my ps4 controllers but this one i can't get it to work. Any advice anyone?
Is the pad brand brand new? It might be a 030 you've got
The controller is a 010. And the ribbon had the same options as yours 010 and 020. I cut off the 020 and i did not do any soldering as i did not need the dpad mapped or the l3 and r3.
Have you fitted the L1/L2 ribbon the right way, maybe take it out and double check as it's suck an easy mistake to do
I have put them the right way. But even if i didn't it would still give power to the back button i just wouldn't be able to remap them right? Im not getting power at all to the back button no red light on at all
@@Greekfreak_gaming people have had all different symptoms, some people's powers on others doesn't when it's the wrong way or not put in right. It'll just be something simple, if you've done these kits before you'll be a wizard with them and find the problem.
It's always something simple, just don't stress and take your time looking over everything
Im lost i went to buy one and it saying the model u can buy is either a 010_020 or a 030_040. In otherwards its sayin the 010_020 is the same thing. my controller has the small a next to it

Iv installed this on to my bdm20 controller I seemed to get it all right but when it come to turn my controller on it won’t and just keeps flashing orange
I’ve got the old controller without the small A next to the model number. Does this installation work with the old controller? If not I’ve messed up and bought the wrong one ahha

Since this one they've released a BDM-030. Check which version you have before you order. On Amazon they've got a photo to show you how to tell which ones which, you press R2 or L2 and you'll see a spring if it's a 30

What is the little square black pad for? I don't see it used at all in the tutorial and watching the RISE4 video didn't help explain either.
Can I connect L3 or R3 buttons with this method, or will I have to follow the other tutorial with soldering involved?
If you mean have either L3 or R3 as a back button you'll need to solder, you could how ever change your button layout in the in-game menu if that's an option for you
Did anyone have the issue of the long black piece not fitting on the two holes. Is it bc I have a newer controller or what. And what brand paddle should I get if they don’t fit also the prongs on the side where u putting the white and black aluminum strip it’s not there on my controller
You might have a BDM-030 or 040, this videos foe the 010 and 020. If you check on Amazon extremerate have a photo showing you how to tell each version, you just hold down R2 or L2 and you'll see they're slightly different inside
good video. i instaled one of these like a year ago and it runs flawless. but my problem is stick drift. so now i need to disassemble the bastard to try to fix that. not alot of hope.

It’s a bad item. When I pulled the clamp down to hold the wire for the paddles the clamp came out and broke. Worse purchase ever.
Hey Craig just installed mine but when I turn it on it flashes orange 3 times and does not connect do you know what could be the problem?
At 8:02 those blue things, for my controller they’re smaller and skinnier, and Ik my controller is a bdm 20, is it still okay?
The fpc cable connecting to the motherboard was to short… like the two little piles that you had to put it on, it was to short and didn’t reach the other pole.
Everything went fine until I went to map a button to the paddles it didn’t work I see the blinking red light but nothing happens when I assign a button to it
So i put the wrong screws on the paddle motherboard and it broke the paddles... so i am going to exchange it for the same one
Does it disable the button that has been remapped?
I'm not 100% sure what you mean?
If your asking if you say remap X to the back left paddle can you still press X on the front as normal yeah, no change at all, just means you'll have two X buttons one on the front and rear.

I always tell people to install triggers first
I would like to buy them but I have 3 questions.
1 - Is there any delay in the keys?
2 - Is there a risk of pressing them by mistake?
3 - Does the haptic feedback change?
No delay as your just using the original inputs from the main board.
Yeah at first you'll press them by mistake, everybody does, but after a few days you'll be used to them.
If you're only installing the back buttons the haptic won't interfere, if you add the digital triggers it will

i did this and now none of my back buttons work
Have you went into remap mode and set them? As default they won't work, you need to hold the button until you see a solid red light then pick, then exit remap mode

Hi I just got this kit and opened my controller and it says Bdm-030. Can I still use this kit?
do i need to put the 2 ribbon cables on the sides of the battery if i only want circle remapped? can i just do the main ribbon cable?

You'll have to do the soldering part. If you pop onto extremerate youtube channel they always show how yo add the soldering. With me only needing X and O for the back buttons I never both with soldering
I wanted to point out that there is a bdm-030 version that I just found out that I have. Some big tells are the spring on the triggers and the shorter blue wires. Before buying and installing remember to know what version you have. Even if the back of your controller has the A, it could still be a 020. After watching the video I realized I had a 030 and now the paddles won't work or my controller. Be safe y'all

Hi, is it possible to map a combinaison of buttons? Like map Triangle + Circle to a specific back button ?
No unfortunately you can only map one button per map, so only O or X on their own

You can map any button, you just can't have 2 buttons to one paddel

There is no way on God's green Earth that me and my sausage fingers would ever be able to do that without ruining at least two or three components. Construction hands and 15 years of Muay Thai later and little electrical components like this are impossible for me
😄😄 my mates also got sausage fingers he managed, but think he used his wife tweezers like what I use sometimes. If you take your time I honestly think you'll be fine. Worst thing you can do with fiddly things is stress, just take a few deep breaths during the install haha

Mine has a small B next to it when yours in the video has an A

You'll really need to work out which one you have. If it's been bought in the past year I'd guess BDM-030
Right good news the controller is working all buttons are working .
The red light is on . But some reason I’m struggling to get my r3 and my x button to go on my 2 padals at the back .
