oh my god i went to magcon in atlanta (for my friend’s birthday, i was never really a fan of any of them).
matthew espinosa had gone into the lobby while literally half of the convention attendees were in the lobby and it caused an actual mob. he was running from them while me and my friend’s mom were going to the room to get something and he RAN ONTO THE ELEVATOR with us. i will literally never forget the genuine fear in that kid’s eyes when he saw me, another 14 year old girl with a magcon wristband. i had to say “i promise i barely know who you are” because he probably thought i was going to skin him alive.
the rest convention was literally miserable for me but that part is always funny for me to remember

@@ac.runnnn The actual shows were like 30 to 45 minutes and it literally just consisted of them dancing around and talking and making vines on stage like it was so incredibly random. but occasionally Shawn would come on and sing like three songs and that was really cool! there was like 13 of them and each of them would make a vine where they’d say something and then put the camera up and say everybody scream and we would all cheer and scream, they would do that like every five minutes. The VIP thing lasted way longer than the show that was like maybe an hour if you were lucky but there was one time i remember where they would leave the show a little early to go to VIP if they got bored and if people didn’t have VIP they’d be super upset. so everyone who had VIP, we’d all be in the back room where they held it, and we can just hear people yelling for them to come back out. it was a mess but it was pretty fun to be honest?! just a little embarrassing to think that I made my parents pay actual real money for that lmao i still have all my merch and pictures from it so it’s kinda cool i can say look i saw shawn mendes and he held this busted hot pink iphone 5c to make a vine with me

I went to Magcon when I was 14 and Cameron Dallas kissed my cheek out of nowhere for a photo. Thinking back and realizing he was 19 is a little unsettling.
Damn I relate to that “pick your crush” thing. I spent all of my school age years picking a crush. Felt like a was a weirdo if I didn’t have one like everyone else. Came out as bi and later on settled on pansexual. Suddenly felt so much easier. I think picking the crushes was just comphet and wanting to fit in. It’s easier to love when you love yourself.

This gave me a That's So Raven-esque flashback! In high school I worked as a social media manager for someone involved with Magcon & sometimes I would work gigs with them. The first day I show up to the venue not knowing what the show was. Immediately got a job in control of the lines for the ENTIRE crowd. By the end of the long weekend I was trampled by multiple groups of girls, heard screaming for 14+ hour days, & watched so many performances. Even overheard a conversation about one of the boys getting sick & getting an injection in the butt for it. I'm honestly convinced it was a fever dream!

There’s a documentary on Magcon and it was genuinely one of the most interesting things I’ve ever watched. They go into how they dealt with fame and wealth and all the fans and stuff. It used to be on Netflix. But it was so interesting hearing them be honest about eveything
As a 14 year old girl who dragged her dad to the magcon show, the only talent was Shawn Mendes. I also got the vip experience and they didn’t let half of the people meet most of the dudes.
