Anyway it's been like a year since I posted this I think? Looking back on it, I'm glad this brought some appreciation to MGSV. The game is so overlooked just because it was delayed. What about all the gameplay on it? Why should that be glossed over because the game wasn't finished. And I too agree that the story was... uhmm... questionable. But my focus wasn't to shine a light on the lore, but the themes. They're so strong in this one, yet people still ignore it because of the ok-ish story. I just couldn't get over how much this song described/narrated the main theme of the game, the inspirations are very on the face and I mean, I don't really blame Kojima, I also love my favorite androgynous looking musician, David Bowie. Really a shame how people treat this game despite its qualities.

Edit of The Man Who Sold the World with Metal Gear Solid 5, montage and tribute. Intention was to connect the music lyrics and the game events in such a way as the music narrates the footage. Got the original idea from another tribute and thought it could do with some improvement, as well as i wanted to try it for myself. - Ігри
MGSV is my personal favorite game in the series because the message it sends to the player is saddening and true in so many ways. When hero’s come into the world do we ever acknowledge the people who helped them, never, especially those who did all the work.

Yeah, mission 51 would have sucked, just a quiet exit on steroids and the plot point of Eli having his parasites just removed by baby mantis goes against the point the game made about removing the parasites severely damaging the host so... yeah I don't think it would have been as good as it seems

Venom punching the mirror was him shattering the image of his former self and life. The Medic died 9 years ago and in the flames of that hospital Big Boss' Phantom was born.

You’re correct , the him from 9 years ago was dead and the him in the moment was also about to die. Those gunshots in the back are his soldiers getting blown apart by SOLID SNAKE and he knows the real deal grim reaper has finally come for him.
I think Venom Snake is such a badass character. There's always felt like there were two men called Big Boss. The leader of Foxhound. And the leader of Outer Heaven.
Those both are the original big boss , venom was only the leader of Diamond Dogs while the original was building outer heaven

@@JamilaJibril-e8h The way it's told plays a big role too. I don't mind heavy sci-fi, if the characters and situations are still relatable/understandable and grounded. But generally yes you're correct.
I love this version of the song even more than the David Bowie version or the Nirvana version. And I really like both of those

It’s kinda insane that some random Medic, one that was probably at best, proficient in just medical stuff, was able to be as good if not better than Big Boss in combat through just some memory fuckery. Outside of the fact that the medic was apart of Big Boss’ old PMC, and that he was a medic, we have no knowledge on anything about him. We don’t know if the Medic had some sort of condition, or bad genes at all, yet this guy was able to become as good at combat as Big Boss through some memory fuckery and plastic surgery.
And we don’t even know the guy’s name. We don’t know if he had a family, we don’t know if he had a lover. We don’t even know where he’s from.
Imagine how that would feel, not only realizing you aren’t who you thought you were, but that you now remember who you were. What happened to the life the medic was forced to leave behind just so Big Boss could work from the shadows? How did the medic feel having to remember everything and be forced to abandon everything of his old life?
We don’t know. And that’s why the Medic is one of the most fascinating characters in all of MGS.

The S3 was right all along...
If you look at his stats you can see that he has no s rank at anything, but he's A-overall. So he was not some medic, but one of the closest and best soldiers of Big Boss.
Combat Medics are usually the most respected and hardened infantrymen on the Battlefield.
No idea who said but one of the characters says that he was the best of us in the squad.
You can also see his empathy in The Phantom Pain shine through and make unexpected turns.
Nurture over Nature is a major theme in MGS. Liquid was obssesed with proving his superiority over the genetically superior Solid Snake- Only for us to learn that Solid was actually "inferior", and still beat him
It's funny because Solid needed a rpg to take out Venom, shows how much of a Meance Venom is. And don't forget that Venom didn't even have Big Boss DNA

Keep in mind that Venom was such a fanboy that he probably would have jumped on this mission no questions asked. This admiration does not make Big Boss less of a scumbag though, he robbed Medic of his identity without asking, he used V as a sacrificial lamb during Operation Intruder N313 and no matter how much a friend he is to Big Boss, Venom will always be burdened to carry the legend upon his name. I think Venom would not consider this a Burden probably due to his "fanboyerism" towards BB but still, a scumbag move imo.

it's sad this game was so hated by those who misunderstood or even misinterpreted the songs message, that it's finally time, to let snake rest, or to keep living in his shadow.
There's some things that low IQ NPCs always get caught on, one being a genuine plot twist that angers said NPCs.
Likely, the ones caught unawares in 2015 weren't the same players as back in 2002, but it's beautiful how they rhymed

@@lady_deaths_head hey thanks so much for the reply mate! More than welcome. Been an MGS fan since 98 and was so delighted when I heard an Irish language song in the first game. I've 3 mgs tats. Just huge fan. I love that 80s music too... The way you focus on Big Boss for the chorus and thematically sync up lyrics and visuals is 👌 I can see what you are doing and it takes a hell of a lot of patience, talent, skill and inspiration to do what you've done!
PS I have the novels of MGS 4, Death Stranding and MGS V art book on pdf/epub. I am sure I have more art books to do with mgs on a drive somewhere. If you want em just let me know mate 👍 ✌️ ☀ from 🇮🇪

The game is incomplete, yes, and I wish it wasn't. But it is, and that's the game we have and the game we love. Continuously repeating that the game wasn't finished doesn’t do anything and doesn’t get any conversation anywhere. Yes it's unfinished, WE KNOW, can't we appreciate what we got? Appreciate even the flaws? How despite the whole structure of the game is completely flawed, Kojima still managed to tie the themes of the story to the game? That doesn't mean the same as "it was unfinished on purpose and Kojima is a genius", hell I don't even know if it was on purpose, but I'm not here to appreciate Kojima, this is a love letter to the game. The main problem the whole game has, being very incomplete, accidentally or not, neatly ties up with the main theme of revenge and feeling a phantom pain, isn't that kinda beautiful in a way?
Its kinda hilarious how the MGS phantom pain storyends with really old techology but in the game you had various high end technology

In the MGS universe technology has always been really advanced, but also irl military technology is more advanced than the stuff we publicly have access to

It is very unique indeed. It's pretty unpolished and left really vague but what it could do was done incredibly in my opinion. Beautiful game

Big boss hated the idea of cloning, yet here we are in mgsv.
To be fair, it was Zeros plan and it was well underway by the time Big Boss woke up. He was basically told what was happening and then went with it.
Venom wasn't really clone, he was more of a doppelganger.
He was discussed buy zero act of cloning him for the reasons he did it for and ended all relations with him for it, and this was also zero plan that he was in the middle of it, he could have kept him ignorant of the whole situation till he dies but he made the tape for a reason , and he has a mental copy of BB but also he told him , you are your own man and your own mark, so you can see why from the lines said there.
It seems like he decided to use Venom as a clone since it's convenient making him a hypocrite.
Venom is not clone and still he is better than bbs clones himself

How saddening, we never got the answers. what happened? To the Naked Big Boss, The Phantom and The Venom? One went to get his own Outer Heaven, other vanished while the last is fighting for a higher cause? Greater good? What were we fighting for? Who are we? We have lost so much in the search, even ourselves. Truly a pity, sad - the story never finished.
My first ever fully finished and most favorite game in the series, it was beautiful as I knew and played it. Here's to hope we may someday get the answers left untold, MGSVI - Vi is yet to come to.

In an alternate universe, we got the mgsv hideo wanted to make and it one of the greatest games ever made.
I like to day dream about a series of missions of you having to defend outer haven from probing attacks then eventually an un winnable boss fight against solid snake. Leading us into the events of the old 8bit metal gear games and metal gear solid.
Fun fact for those who don't know: when Venom breaks the mirror, you can see through the shards that the Diamond Dogs logo on the door got changed to that of Outer Heaven.
