I started this video project 2 weeks ago(26 May).
After I heard the song "nuclear" by Mike Oldfield, i immediately thought of MGS. Hideo Kojima had recommended the album, so it does not surprise me that he has used this song in the new trailer. When i was almost finished with the video, i've seen the new trailer. I decided to use the new footages. Have fun!
Completely insane editing!! REALLY great job!!! I have worked in TV/cinema and in many video game company as lead video editor and this was a really great "amv" style video! :) I would have used a few crossfades at the end after the last lyrics... perhaps a few more cuts on music cue... but overall, really awesome selection of visuals! :)

Empireend when i did my first video edit about 13-14 years ago while in school (availlable on my profile it was the wwe video), i also used the words from the song and tried to illustrate and match them with the video... i havent had many opportunities to make my own videos since... most of what i have done in the last 10 years was professionally and not on my own youtube... being a HUGE fan of MGS serie, i "think" i understand most of the story arcs so far... so seeing all of theses different time period was also nice with the new song :)
Empireend This is really Great, it almost feels like Kojima himself made this. I'm impressed. This makes me just as excited for The Phantom Pain as the last trailer did.

V has the best cutscenes of any video game ever, shot and art direction wise. It’s a great example of how great video game cutscenes can be when you accept that you Donny have to use the camera like a regular movie camera.
Big BOSS a hero loyal to the flames of war rests in outer heaven
This is good, most of the scenes are pretty fitting as the lyrics kick in. Though the last ending bit seemed rush, with a few scenes not fit in.

Fr thats the craziest part it gets everything that bb had to suffer on his conscious to start
Survived ww2 in the oss equivalent to seal team six
Had to kill his old comrades and mom basically
Built his vision of what his "mom" wanted for the future briefly before having it be torn away from him in the most violent fashion possible
Had to manipulate one of his closest comrades into being his patsy/phantom
Sees the world devolve into one his "mom" would hate
And in the end dies in his "son's" arms just as the boss before after offing zero dude had a lot to think of in them final moments fr fr

It sounds...so much like Epitaph. How is this not being talked about? If you google it, it seems some people are, but I'm surprised it's not getting more attention. Either way, the video was really incredible. Videos like this are starting to make me reconcile MGSV's Boss with MGS3's, which is cool, and this one in particular is extremely well done. Everything seems to be in just the right place.

I see big boss alot like myself. A man willing to still want to survive and struggle for a greater purpose. And this is something that I find the metal Gear solid series so legendary.
It's talks about, humanity, war, love, endurance, struggle of man and he deepest of the heart.
And I've never felt or seen another game franchise do it like Metal Gear Solid. It's not just a bunch of games, it's art with deeper meaning.

Taylor Corbett actually it wasn't. The song was released before Snake Eater was made, and was released on Starsailor's album Love is Here, which is in my opinion their best album.

There was no real "villain" just people doing what they believed...
Big Boss was an anti-hero, doing what he thought was the right choice he could make for the world, and himself. At the start he was considered a "hero", but he lived long enough to be seen as a villain (demon). To be honest, I don't blame him, I would be fucked up in the head too if I had to go through all that.
honestly if they just released the phantom pain with the same engine and graphics as mgs3 id still buy it full price.

I should really play this series. I haven't been seen something so interesting since Assassins Creed. Not sure where to start though,
2 ways:
-start in order of release, Metal Gear 1 and 2(old MSX games, it's in the MGS HD Collection in MGS3), or Metal Gear Solid 1 for PS1 (PS1,PSN Download or in MGS Legacy Collection-Downloadcode)
or
-start in fictional chronology, so with MGS3 Snake Eater
The games are not easy for newcomers, but worth it. You will not regret it in the end.
You're in for a real treat.
FYI I'd substitute the PS1 version of MGS1 for the GameCube Twin Snakes release. Like it or not, that's the one that gets referenced and not the original (like using that versions voice overs and an old TPP trailer referencing how Psycho Mantis floats trough the roof in tts)

The Boss' goal was to simply serve as a soldier to the end. She found her role, despite being named the greatest and part of the "most feared" unit composed of united powers during WW2, compromised as her child, husband and apprentice be made tools for her country's ulterior motives. Yet, she remained loyal to it. Big Boss then find this an absurd compromise and made a place for soldiers to be soldiers till the end. Venom believed the same even though he unknowingly, and eventually willingly, became one of Big Boss' most convenient tool. Solid Snake would be the same. He'll be his country's most useful asset even from the age of 15. He would then eventually commit patricide. And would later kill his twin. Even during his dying years, he would try to save his country. One may say he was simply the patriots' most reliable "saviour" but he always fight for what he believed in. And eventually the people who believes in him helped him that made him defeat all the conspirators be it the patriots, big boss, ocelot. And what came on top is the next gen he'll leave. Raiden is amongst the receiver of Snake's meme. But he is his own person.
