    Thanks, good tutorial, though I take exception to any love for Apple's "Magic" Mouse, which is a truly ill conceived piece of hardware, which could never have been seriously considered for human use. The Logitech MX Master series is just as expensive, but fits the hand better and has a horizontal scroll wheel right where the thumb can use it. It also comes with Adobe pre-sets.

      Don't let that stop you. I believe the microphone is your greatest friend. Have a look at the Blue mics, several models provide some unique sounds for your voice. I use the snowball which offers a really nice warm sound. They are all direct USB plug and play without an interface and sound great! I think the phantom amps and interfaces are great for intermediate to advanced users, but are just not critical enough for beginners like me.

    Hi Mike, I like your videos. I have some questions: How do I do the voice over for a project according to these requirements but delivering something of good quality? TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS: 24 bit, 44 kHz, mono, Unprocessed, RAW .wav, -60dB noise floor (or better). Naturally minimized background noise, breaths, and clicks (no plugins).
    I do not know which are plugins in the Effects panel. I looked at your video about the 5 mistakes but I do not know which steps I can take to improve the quality but still deliver according to tech requirements. Thank you. Kind regards, Veronica

    • @MikeRussell
      @MikeRussell  2 місяці тому

      Hi Veronica, thank you for your kind words! To achieve those technical requirements in Adobe Audition without using plugins, ensure to record in a quiet environment, use noise reduction tools like noise print, and gently edit out background noise, breaths, and clicks manually. Aim for a clean, natural sound by focusing on recording quality and subtle editing techniques.

    • @veronicachiaravalli8847
      @veronicachiaravalli8847 2 місяці тому

      @@MikeRussell Hi Mike, Thank you for your reply. I am working on a big vo project from a customer and they ask for a RAW WAV file without any plugins, nor compression, nor breaths, etc. Each script is about 10-18 pages long which takes me quite a long time to do it manually via Audacity. I am switching to Audition today in order to improve the workflow but I am unsure which are considered plugins since I only see Effects and there is no distinction there. I do not know which are plugins. I also do not know what is considered compression. I usually save after taking out the bg noise, the breaths, the mouth clicks, and normalizing. No compression. I do not know if normalize is considered compression.

    I just starting playing around with Audition today. I followed your instructions here, but when I saved the session, it's dumped loads of files everywhere that I don't know what they mean or do. A ( AU Tracks) Audio folder, a /pkf file, loads of 'Audio Extracted.wav' files everywhere. You don't mention the mes Audition leaves when you use it. Have you done a video explaining what all files mean, and how to get back into Audition if you want to make changes? I think I'll stick within Premier for now! lol

    • @MikeRussell
      @MikeRussell  3 роки тому

      If you’re working with the time selection tool and have a selection made when you press delete the selected audio is deleted.
      Also, you need to mix down a Multitrack session in order to have a file of the mix. You can only save a session as a .sesx file which contains no audio.

    I made the mistake of buying a AME2 Maonocaster and a HyperX Quadcast S mic. I'm not sure why I thought they were compatible, but they are not. The Quadcast is a great mic but it is USB and the AME2 has XLR, 3.5MMTRRS,6.35MM, and USB type C ports. My question is should I get an adapter cable for the mic or return the AME2? What is my best option? TIA

    For a videographer that is thinking of doing audio edits in Audition, what would the workflow be... do all cutting and editing of the video in whatever NLE but not anything with the audio, then output the final video in a uncompressed format to then import into Audition to do all audio edits before final delivery? Anything I am missing? thanks.

    • @MikeRussell
      @MikeRussell  2 роки тому +1

      A lot of what Audition can do can also be achieved in Premiere Pro natively. Alternatively you can use Adobe Dynamic link to work with your video project audio in Audition. One tip I’d share would be to do all the video cuts before linking your audio as any changes to the audio duration made in Audition won’t make the corresponding changes to the video duration.

    • @MikeRussell
      @MikeRussell  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Rich. The courses link is courses.musicradiocreative.com/
      Without hearing the audio and how severe it is I can’t say for certain whether it’s recoverable. We do cover noise reduction in the courses but obviously my best tip is to eradicate noise at source before recording. The techniques we cover in the courses can help eradicate noise but if it’s too bad then to remove it you’ll end up degrading the quality of the audio.

    Recording needs a external mic to avoid buzzing sound from computer and it can record clear vocals, right?

    • @MikeRussell
      @MikeRussell  2 роки тому

      If you want to record then you'll need a mic. You can get a USB mic for around £100. If however you want to record music then depending on what music you're recording you will need an interface / capture device.

    I am using Adobe Audition 2019 version. When you said that you applied the effects, I could not see where that apply button was because of the video playing. Can you please tell me how I apply my effects to my audio? Thank you.

      To apply effects in Adobe Audition 2019, simply select the desired effect from the Effects Rack and adjust the settings, then click on the "Apply" button located at the bottom of the Effects window. Thank you for watching!

    Hi Mike ... How do you generate Silence. There's a lot of times when I want to 'zero' out breathing and other similar types of noises that occur in every day speech.
    Thank you & Best Regards,
    AzNeil

    • @MikeRussell
      @MikeRussell  3 роки тому

      I wouldn't suggest replacing breathing or other noises with silence, it would make for very unnatural sounding audio. Look at using a downward expander instead for a more natural sound

    Hi, Mike! Thank you for this great tutorial! I have been a graphic artist for 25 years, but am just getting into video (and audio). I started with Premiere Pro, but am in the process of learning how to use Audition. I feel more comfortable editing (cutting and moving) audio clips in Premiere than in Audition. It seems to me that one should edit the sound of the audio in Audition, but the placement of that audio (in the video) within Premiere. Am I correct thinking this? Thanks again!

    • @MikeRussell
      @MikeRussell  3 роки тому +2

      Hi Eric. That’s correct. Editing video in Audition will edit the audio but does bit edit the video. I think it’s best to edit the video in premiere pro and then edit the audio in audition for that reason.

      Hi there! It sounds like you may need to check your workspace settings in Adobe Audition to ensure the Effects panel is visible. Try going to the "Window" menu, then "Workspace", and select "Default". This should reset the layout and make the Effects panel visible. Let me know if that helps!

    Hi Mike. I too have a Scarlett 2i2 as my audio device and I have an Audio Technica AT2020 microphone. The problem I'm having is that when i record, it only records to the left track. I did everything like you said but for some reason I can't record stereo. Maybe my Audition desktop settings are wrong? Please help!

    • @MikeRussell
      @MikeRussell  3 роки тому

      The 2i2 is a two channel interface so in audio channel mapping you need to map the channel you're using to both left and right inputs

      You scroll in Audition the same was as any other PC application. If you search the channel there are a couple of videos on more advanced mice for PC (or Mac)

      @@MikeRussell I don't have Premiere Pro. I have been given piece of film and a bunch of sound files. The film has rough audio on it, but I need to recreate the audio. Match up good quality vocal tracks and create the sound design.

    • @MikeRussell
      @MikeRussell  4 роки тому +1

      In that case I would suggest opening the video in Audution and wokring on the audio there. When you're done export as a wav file and import that into the video in your video editing software, muting out the original audio.

I want to try covering songs using an instrumental audio then edit it together with the recorded audio. Thanks.

    • @MikeRussell
      @MikeRussell  3 роки тому

      Hi, in order to do this you'd be recording in the multi track so you have the backing track to sing to. You'll also need to set Audition so it records just the microphone and not it's own input.
      I don't have anything specifically targetted at singers but you might try this which may be of some help in understanding how to record in the multitrack without feeding back what you're also listening to ua-cam.com/video/olxjy8p2mxs/v-deo.html

    When you edit the podcasts for breaths and filler words are you doing in the wave editor or in the multitrack (in case of 1 channel recording)?
    And when you use dynamic tools again is it at the wave editor page or in the multitrack?

    • @MikeRussell
      @MikeRussell  3 роки тому +1

      You can do in either. I would suggest doing it in the multitrack though where it's easier to ensure the speech still flows rather than just deleting the entire space out in waveform.
