Cord is good for more things than pulling things up: it can be used for temporarily repairing things, building things and tying things to the kayak, as well as attaching the kayak to a tree or something.

Perhaps carry some paracord or other rope? You could lower stuff down that way. Put a carbine on the bundles, run 2x needed cord though, release an end when the job is done and pull the cord up for the next load. But, I've no idea the weight of the kayak. Might need a handle for the cord? Just thinking out loud. Loved the video.

Did i hear you say California?? If so pardon my ignorance but doesn't it worry you kayaking in sea where they are great white sharks around and i saw a seal so they're are probably a big prey area where your video was shot .Its not the rare deliberate predation that id be concerned about more the likely mistaken for its favourite prey the seal . Like i said pardon my ignorance but im from England UK so we dont have any experience with great white sharks or other man-eaters really . Anyway loved the vid and that looked a beautiful place to camp, also love the off the beaten path adventure as well. And greetings from North East England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿UK 🇬🇧👍.

Looked like there was a small path where you camped. Other people or animals? Cool place.
