I like the way you inject historical information into a camping video. It makes it so much more interesting. You truly do your homework before a trip. Keep up the good work.
YESSSS! I've been waiting to see you camp on that beach. I worked on the bridge from 18-22 on the suicide net. We watched a whale decompose on that beach for months. Man that shit stank. Absolutely love the views, and the history of the bridge. And I can concur, the old girl is world famous. Thanks for another super awesome video. Edit: wait til the end of the video to comment. Thanks for the shout-out. The work you showed was an Access ladder for the suicide net install. Being removed or placed.... Be safe!
Yooo what's good Daniel! So cool that you worked on there, and for a project that should make a really important impact 🙏 You could actually smell the whale from up on the bridge?! Appreciate your encouragement and insight, cheers bro!!
I’m retired from the Golden Gate Bridge’s transit district. I’ve driven across that bridge somewhere between 12 and 15 thousand times. The bridge looked different every time. I’ve been on boats sailing under the bridge a couple times but I’ve never seen the view you had from the north end. That was a real treat.
Definitely some of the most laid back and entertaining content on UA-cam, love watching the channel grow and every adventure is really cool. I was just looking at the channel today and wondering when the next video would come out! Neat.
Hey again Fernando! I appreciate your patience, been doing my best trying to get the videos out but I know this one took a minute. Glad you have been enjoying the content bro, appreciate your support 👊
Hopefully some day... that would be so cool!! He has commented on one of my vids before, so at least he knows who I am 😅 I plan to road trip through Canada at some point, so maybe we can make it happen then!
Absolutely brilliant. I love this channel and all your content, I'm British and had two great holidays in San-Fran. This brings it all back, great camps too. Now Steve only posts about once a month now, your 26k may soon be 2.6 Million, who knows. Keep up the good job Wes.
Back in my youth I had a wooden framed canvas Kayak , tent on my back and my dog sat on the bow I'd be out there ocean going without a care in the world or knowledge of tides. That was in the 70's and I'm still here enjoying your adventures.....respect 😁
Hahaha that sounds sweet (knowing that it worked out)! I have had to learn a few lessons the hard way... I definitely try to be a student of nature with these different trips. Glad you are enjoying the adventures, cheers!!
What a delight. I literally cried watching this. SOO many memories with family both here and passed. What a beautiful bridge infused with peoples hopes for a better life. Now its changed our politics are so uncertain. Enjoy the golden years of your youth bc it passes by so fast. I left my heart in the old San Francisco . 🌉
So glad this was so meaningful for you 💙 Indeed this bridge is so symbolic and different people have different memories tied to it... such a marvel of beauty and engineering! Thanks so much for watching and sharing your connection.
Hey Wes thank you for the heads up on where to purchase the life jacket that you have. Another cool thing is I have been wanting to go and see the Golden Gate Bridge forever and when I viewed your new video I was so excited to see that you were going to the Gold Gate. Your video recordings are awesome feels like im there.😊 Centralia WA luvs ya Wes
What you said about it being a day or two trip and it feel like you've been gone for a long time is true in such a way out place. It really makes the short time some of us do have off feel like we really had a long time on a vacation when we go on something like that. Thanks for giving the names of the grass. Also many things for rescuing the drone and cleaning up some of the trash there. You're awesome
This was really terrific to view. Thanks for taking us along on another journey to a place I know I’ll never get to visit. Great camera work and editing too. My wife and I really enjoyed it.
Bless you for bringing out that plastic trash! I live on Prince Edward Island (a Canadian province in the Gulf of St. Lawrence) and whenever I go to any beach on the North Shore I bring a garbage bag with me and lug it out afterwards, usually full. I stuff it in the back of my Jeep and then sort it when I get home. I know it's eccentric but the level of plastic junk in the oceans is rising exponentially. Miles of beautiful beaches dotted with brightly coloured human trash.
Lets see... Great video. Loved the food (you are always smart about making sure it helps you stay fed).. the spot was perfect, you cleaned up, saved a Droid, fished, and just took full advantage of a perfect spot by the bridge. I liked the fast forward of the ahip passing as you set up. Im always an advocate of exploring but you did a fair amount. Such a great spot and im totally jealous. Cheers and hope to see your next video as soon as weather allows... Itsso well done. Thank you ❤.. also, as others have pointed out, love the history you put into videos. Its great
Hey thanks again brother! Definitely important to have filling protein-rich food when out on these adventures. I really enjoyed this spot, so I'm happy I got to do so much here in a relatively short time... I'd really like to come back! I'm glad you enjoyed this one :)
What a great video! Amazing views and idea, great food, the sound of the waves, your appreciation of the rocks, dealing with the litter, the ducks...all very cool. I love your channel!!
Thanks so much Brent, glad you enjoy everything that goes into the videos! I really do try my best to make the adventures entertaining, so I'm happy you appreciate them :)
From where you started kayaking in beautiful Sausalito, you passed by Fort Baker at the foot of the Golden Gate, on the inland side of the bridge. I was stationed at Fort Baker for 4 years when in the military and lived in military quarters on the Presidio of San Francisco, just above Baker Beach, overlooking the Pacific ocean. On the ocean side of the Golden Gate in Sausalito are Fort Barry and then Fort Cronkhite. The view of San Francisco from there is amazing and I never took it for granted.
So cool, sounds like an incredible spot to be stationed! I definitely loved getting to camp here with the views & history. Thanks for watching and sharing your connection with the area!
Your courage is amazing! I know I could never do this, but wish I could. Being in my 60's, This will never happen. I thank you for another amazing adventure!
Love your videos Wes! My wife and I are so excited every time you upload and I love seeing the progression in your video editing, commentary, and historical information into your videos. We're excited for future uploads!
Hey Jonathan, that means a lot, thanks!! Glad you two are enjoying the adventures and have noticed improvement. I am definitely trying my best to keep upping the quality 😉
Thanks for showing us that area! I was raised in the BA and never went there! I was just at Yacht Club for a rehursal dinner and in the Sausalito hills for the best wedding! It’s the best video yet! Miss home! And sourdough! 🎉
This is great. Thank you. I camped at Kirby Cove many times and really liked it a lot. There are some other forts at the top of the hills which could be a possibility for a Stealth Camp. The average depth of the San Francisco Bay is 9 feet. It is deepest by hundreds of feet just below the Golden Gate Bridge. The tides scour it out. You are a good cook.
Hey again Jim! 👋 Glad you enjoyed this one. I have noticed the batteries/structures above the beach and definitely thought about camping there. The current can be so strong under the bridge, and then knowing it's hundreds of feet of depth flowing is mind blowing 🤯 Thanks again for watching, cheers!
luv the history stories of Bay area, bouillabaisse in breadbowl looks great Wes, beautiful shoreline Kirby Cove 🤩 by the Golden Gate awesome camping ⛺️👍🏻
Hey thanks again bro! I would love to collab with Steve... hopefully someday! 🤞 I hope to travel through Canada at some point, so maybe it'll work out then 🤔 Appreciate you watching man
Dude!! I love your videos man! The production quality, the cooking, the views, cant say enough honestly. Safe travels and always excited for new videos
Hey thanks so much, John, that really means a lot! I am definitely trying to up the quality with each video, so I'm glad you appreciate it. Thanks for watching bro!
In my younger days I would run from the Sausalito side to the SF side and back across the bridge. The amount of micro climates in that area is amazing! It would be bright, warm and sunny on the Sausalito side, and cold and foggy on the SF side. Thanks for sharing your adventure!
can't believe you pulled this one off! so many things have to line up to even get out there! Also the dinner you made was pretty awesome considering the surroundings! Finally is this even allowed? Nice video!
Right, a lot had to go right and I'm glad it all did! This is another one of my camp spots that I'm unsure about the legality of 😅 Always pack out trash and leave minimal if any impact, so in my eyes it's all good 👍 Thanks for watching!!
I like that he doesn't fish very often. Less parts for me to have to skip through. Had to stop watching Destination Adventure and Mav because they both pretty much turned their 'adventure' channels into fishing channels.
A few years ago I was in a car crossing the bridge, on the way to a picnic at Kirby Cove , and saw a whale about to pass under it! When I got down to the beach, I saw it continue out from the bay!
Wes! ❤ I was just about to call it a night when your video popped up! So glad to catch this 😀 It's awesome the bridge wasn't fogged over! I remember it being so windy in that area when I was there 3 yrs ago with my Mom. I didn't know that spooky lighthouse was there! I love your time lapse video and especially loved exploring the beach with you the next morning! I actually have a similar duck decoy! Thank you for the time you took to make this video and sharing with us! I am so grateful you are safe! 🙏♥️
Hey Suzanne!! 💙 Glad you could come along for this one :) I know, the fog & wind happens all the time there, so I'm thankful it let up for this adventure so we could really see the bridge in all its glory! Some people here have named the fog "Karl" and he even has his own Instagram page 😂 I hope your visit here with your mom was fun and memorable. I always appreciate your support, so happy you enjoyed this trip as much as I did 😊
@@WesWherever I didn't know the fog had a name! I can't wait to tell my Mom! She will get a kick out of that! ♥️ Btw, did you ever see the original movie called "The Fog"? So scary! Perfect for just before Halloween! 😉
@@WesWherever And yes! We had a great time! We visited here just before visiting my cousin and heading into the Yosemite Valley for a week of camping! 😀
Really enjoyed this adventure, you are so kind to recover that drone and clean up the mess that was left, try a hard hat when sitting under falling rocks Stay safe.
Hey Betty, glad you enjoyed this one! Good call on the hard hat, I am hoping to return to a cave to camp soon and was planning to get one for then... even better to have one when near rocky cliffs like this. Thanks again for watching, and I will make sure to stay safe!! 👍
My teacher in 7th grade would take us to Kirby cove on field trips. We would swim and body surf and then hike back out. Can't imagine teachers doing that now. Great video, very jealous!

Thanks bro, I'm trying my best but been so busy lately... hard to get the vids out quickly and keep up with comments... really hope I can get to a point where I can put one out weekly or every 2 weeks. Thanks for being so supportive 🙏 You know if that bando is still standing? We still gotta hit that up bro that would be lit! Still haven't forgotten about those tunnels too 🤔
Been on this paddle several times!! Did Rat Rock after your video. Big fan and hope to see you on the water someday. Btw if you haven't been to Drakes Estero I highly recommend it. Best to you Wes! 🤙🏼
Thanks man, hope RRI treated you well. Maybe I'll see you out there someday 🛶 Drake's Estero & Tomales Bay are definitely on my list! Btw looks like a fixed gear in your pic, props! 👊 I rode fixed for many years until I started van life and had to trade it for a folding bike
Yay! So happy to see a new video. So interesting about the Golden Gate bridge. Thank you for the historical information. Another positive interesting video.😊 PS I like how you fast forward through what might be the more tedious parts.😂
Looks like a lot more to come back to and explore there :) That Sour Dough, there is so much history there. Decades back when I was first learning the arts of fermentation, I read through whole histories of rivalry over sour dough in the US between San Fran and NY. That rivalry (including black ops, insider trading, corporate espionage stories I mean it was an intense rivalry) also lead to the first research into fermentation as a science rather than an art :)
Wow, I had no idea about the SF vs NY sourdough rivalry!! I am definitely going to research that, so cool! And yes, lots more to check out here, so I really wanna come back sometime. Thanks again for watching :)
Just discovered your channel and ❤ it! I live in SF and it's nice to see it from this vantage point. Can't wait to start watching the cross country adventure vids. Stay safe, God bless, and thanks for bringing us along.
Awesome video! I stayed on Baker Beach one night with a small group of friends. We sat around the fire and stayed up to watch the sunrise. Spending a night in the fog under the glow of the bridge and lights is a memory and image I will never forget. The bay entrance is such a special place!
Nice vid my friend was there in March camped in my car in the car park above your head, never tire looking at that bridge, getting vertigo vides already that's the film I'm talking about 👍😊
I'm sure the breakfast on the beach was awesome... I'm not a syrup and blueberries (sweet) with eggs person though lol. Another cool camping spot, and I love the duck decoys trailing behind the kayak...nice touch.
Kind of a long shot, but: You could maybe contact the jet ski rental place in San Diego (printed on the side of one of the jet skis in the footage) and tell them to ask any customers that might have rented around that time if they ever lost a drone at Golden Gate sometime after that. Or maybe if there is audio in that footage, you might even hear them say someone's name. You could just leave your contact info so the rental place doesn't have to worry about breaching anyone's privacy.
Just came across your video and I'm glad I did. It was a refreshing watch with calmness, joy about your love of the little things, historical and entertaining bits. Overall, wonderfully put together and to top it all off you brought out the trash (love the ducklings tailing you). Bravo!
Comments below mention "Camping with STEVE", I've followed him several years, good times and his sad. I am fan and await his latest 😃. And now I've subscribed to your ventures, thanks

You just earned a new subscriber, Bro. 👍
Thanks brother
Just discovered your channel and ❤ it! I live in SF and it's nice to see it from this vantage point. Can't wait to start watching the cross country adventure vids. Stay safe, God bless, and thanks for bringing us along.
My boy making chowder bowls under the gate on a remote beach, savage.
Awesome video! I stayed on Baker Beach one night with a small group of friends. We sat around the fire and stayed up to watch the sunrise. Spending a night in the fog under the glow of the bridge and lights is a memory and image I will never forget. The bay entrance is such a special place!
I live in this area, but I’ve never seen it in the way you presented it. Thanks for that. It was really incredible.
Nice vid my friend was there in March camped in my car in the car park above your head, never tire looking at that bridge, getting vertigo vides already that's the film I'm talking about 👍😊
Thanks for the video! Beautiful!
Another great video.
Thanks, Hoover! :)

@WesWherever your welcome and thank you
Well done posting that drone footage! You deserve a lot of success with these videos. I loved how you got that dolphin on camera near the bridge too!
Hey thanks again, glad you have been enjoying the adventures :)
I'm sure the breakfast on the beach was awesome... I'm not a syrup and blueberries (sweet) with eggs person though lol. Another cool camping spot, and I love the duck decoys trailing behind the kayak...nice touch.
Thanks again for watching, glad you enjoyed this one :)
Loved the ducks on tow … they looked great i am now a new subscriber great vlog 🙏
Thank you for this vid wes.
I’d love to do this same camping/kayaking trip. Awesome Video!
It was sweet, definitely give it a go if you get the chance!! Thanks for watching bro
@@WesWherever 👍👍
I’ve been out on the straight many times. 15 foot swells are common, looks like a wonderful day.
I love the views from a kayak under the golden gate bridge thats something alot of us will never see
Kind of a long shot, but: You could maybe contact the jet ski rental place in San Diego (printed on the side of one of the jet skis in the footage) and tell them to ask any customers that might have rented around that time if they ever lost a drone at Golden Gate sometime after that. Or maybe if there is audio in that footage, you might even hear them say someone's name. You could just leave your contact info so the rental place doesn't have to worry about breaching anyone's privacy.
Excellent idea... that may just work!! I will try reaching out to the rental company 👍
Nice work with all your camera angles
That is so awesome you took what trash you could with you.
So happy for this video!!!! Hope all is well with you.
Glad you appreciate it :) I am great, hope you are doing well too, Patricia!! Thanks again for watching 😊
I love these videos so much ✨🙏
Just came across your video and I'm glad I did. It was a refreshing watch with calmness, joy about your love of the little things, historical and entertaining bits. Overall, wonderfully put together and to top it all off you brought out the trash (love the ducklings tailing you). Bravo!
Great looking sandwhich wes, looking good

Those are coyote tracks. They hang out at Kirby Cove. Fun video, like that you paddled an Eddyline, my kayak of choice, and packed out trash!
That was cool! I'm too old to copy you but dug it just the same!
Awesome!!!!
25:00 That mineral is jasper, which is pretty common in parts of California. It's a really nice specimen too!
