    I do two separate soil tests, Al . My backyard is hilly so I get erosion in the back. So,even though the whole yard is treated the same . I have gotten different readings from the yard. So not much of a question for you but just putting it out there for people who may have the same issue . Love the vids.

      Same here. My lot is a walkout that backs up to wetland so the front is high and dry and the back is low, moist and partially wooded. The readings aren't hugely different, but different enough to want to pay attention to how I handle things.

    I've only tested my soil once, about 5 years ago, and I went crazy and had all four sides of my house tested separately. My results actually showed a big difference between the front and back. My phosphorous levels were vastly different so I did in fact treat the front and back differently. Basically I use only phos-free ferts on one side, which means no Milo, and the other side I do use some Milo. So testing different areas can in fact be valuable if you want to take it that far.

    Question about the mysoil tests compared to the mehlich-3 tests. MySoil says what's available to the plant so let's say MySoil says I have 10ppm available of phosphorous but the mehlich-3 says 30ppm. Essentially the MySoil test would be telling me to put more phosphorous down even though I would be overloading the soil with phosphorous. Is that correct or am I wrong in my thinking of these tests? • @jimmaul
      @jimmaul 2 роки тому

      Certain aspects of the soil will change from month to month based on what you apply and how much water it gets which will eventually wash some nutrients out. But that doesnt mean you need to test it every year. Its good to correct issues like PH imbalance using test results but then just apply products based on what it looks like is needed or what plan you have in place. I would think testing every 2-3 years is probably enough.

    Hello Alan I live in Michigan in a suburb of Detroit, currently weather is really up and down drastically with temperature changes daily, with snow and rain now in the spring. I just received the YardMastery granular pro diamine 45lb.
    And I am trying to find the right time to put it down next week Monday Tuesday are dry sunny days but cold 39 degrees Wednesday calls for 3/4 of an inch of snow Thursday it’s going to go up to 60 with rain another 3/4 of an inch can I put down the pro diamine granular even if it’s going to snow after app. I’m just really trying to have mother nature water it in within 48 hours of application as it’s too early for my inground Sprinks. My soil temp is hovering at 44 but last week was all the way up to 48° All of my neighbors have had their little fertilizer signs stuck in their lawn as of last week don’t want to be late with my pre-emergent. I also just ordered the flagship 2406 to put down with the pro diamine per your direction with separate applications not mixing the two in the hopper. Weather is absolutely crazy in Michigan can I put this down now even if snow in the forecast the next day and then rain and 60 the following day. Really like everything that you’re doing to help us DIYers appreciate it can’t wait till it grows so we can get in some mows.
    Thanks, Bryon (Ozzy) Osborne

    So I purchased a MySoil test kit last year for a first time soil test ever. Ended up being really deficient in Nitrogen which was surprising. But it still recommended Y+M Double Dark which I purchased and my yard looked great afterwards. I thought it was supposed to give me local big box store options though?

      Nitrogen is extremely mobile in the soil, used by the plant, and evaporates. That's why it's applied several times throughout one season. It's not uncommon at all to see a low N level. A lot of labs don't even include an N reading in their tests because of that.

      Glad you got great results! As far as big box options, they don't share with me what is in their inventory so I'd have no way to rec their stuff. Sorry about that.

      prodiamine needs to be watered in, Triad does not so in that case I'd say no.

    My front yard looks terrible compared to the back yard. Centipede lawn on top of rock hard red clay. Somehow front yard pH is about 6.7 compared to 5.5 in the back yard...

    Hi Allen ,new sub here. I was just wondering why your fert is 10 dollars more on Amazon than on your own website. Bits says "sold and shipped by yard mastery". I sent an email and said that they wouldn't price match, but, I find that strange cause it's the same exact company.

    Allyn just got my results back from this soil test. My calcium and magnesium were sky high. Everything else was basically non existent. I fertilize my lawn regularly. Used many of your fertilizers last year. I was baffled with my results considering my lawn looks pretty good! Any advice? Thanks

    • @Thelawncarenut
      @Thelawncarenut  2 роки тому +1

      Since the grass looked good, sounds like your lawn used up what you applied. But you didn't apply enough to actually get the soil to build and hold nutrients. That can take time. Sounds like you're on the right track so far n
