  • Disclaimer: I continued buying ships to support CIG and the games development. For no reason, what-so-ever unless you want to help fund the game should you ever spend more than a starter package. Earning money in the 'verse is easy as pie. Get an Aurora, join an Org and get out there - everything is within reach.
Star Citizen is more than just a game, its an experience. I want to tell you about that today.
Edit: 7/14/21 Wow... 1000 subscribers. Everyone, I don't know what to say. It may be a small achievement relative to all of UA-cam - but it means the absolute world to me.
    Thank you. Everyone.

Alright - I'm working on something new. The next one will (probably) still be in the SC side of things. I would like to make something outside of SC, but I definitely feel the love of the SC community more than ever before. I'm aiming for this week, but I like to do this thing where I aim low and swing high. But in reverse, and nothing like that. I'll get something out asap. Whenever that may be.
    But I'M DOIN' IT.

I am 52 years old. The first game I owned was Pong. I played games through the years watching the computers and systems grow and improve. I now have a library of over 5000 games I have played. Been through so many alphas and betas to games that came and went. I had watched Star Citizen videos over the years but never understood how to get a copy to play. Finally last March, unemployed and locked in, I decided to buy a copy of the game and immediately discovered my computer was about a decade behind. After a few months of saving, staring each day at the purchase of my Cutty Black, I finally got a new PC and no sooner than yanking it out of the box, I had the game installed and walked into my ship. Like you, I fell in love. Everything was so perfect compared to games that came before. Even for an Alpha, I was capable of doing things I wish I could have done for decades. The bugs though frustrating didn't matter because I was immediately back in and playing after every glitch, I never stopped. Got a new job, paid off all my debt. In less than a year I have almost 5000.00 invested. Every ship I own I love. They each fulfill a different passion I have for gameplay. Mining, Cargo, Fighting, and just plain Exploration.......I am truly hooked. I loved your story we have similar paths to this game. Mine was a marriage that ended in a similar fashion. But my kids have accounts, we fly the verse each week. My passion is shared with them. Thank you for an awesome video. And if TSN-DoomerOne ever crosses your path, give a wave.

I'm 31 now, and the last 9 years have seemingly blown by, but seeing so many people who share this love of SC is just... its both overwhelming and heartwarming. I'm sorry about your marriage, I know, it sucks. In some ways though, the path we had to walk led us to this point - and the people and communities I have encountered a long the way have in many ways been worth the heartbreak. Should I have been given the chance to change the past, I don't know if I would. I'm proud to be part of a community that is so diverse and so passionate. My name in game is WhiskeyAlphaRomeo, though the name is very old and I am considering changing it - but add me to friends, we certainly can do some flying some time. :)

About to hit that 3-0 mark, but I feel the same way about this game. Everything from the immersion, to the creativity, to the outstanding community has me hooked like no other. I have to wait for the chance to upgrade my PC to the proper level, as other IRL issues take precedence right now, but I will certainly be joining y’all as soon as I can now that the game seems to be really underway.
Fly safe, fellow Citizens. Maybe one day our paths will cross.

It feels weird commenting on my own video, but I wanted to say thank you - all of you. The kind words, encouragement, and enthusiasm for both the video and myself, its heart warming. I've made new acquaintances, joined an Org in SC, and seen so many express such heartfelt compliments. A friend told me I was neither story teller nor narrator, but a transporter, because I transported people out of their seat and into the stars. I love that idea, and I love what it means. I want to take us all to some place amazing and full of awe, but what would people want to see next?
Truthfully, I was not expecting this to get any more than a few views from friends and a few random onlookers - instead I was spotlighted by incredible people like Morphologis, visited by great content creators, and passed around on everything from Twitter to German websites I had no idea even existed! It's overwhelming, in the best way, but overwhelming nonetheless. Sure - anxiety is definitely licking its jowls staring at me right now, but I'm trying to just process everything and figure things out based on what my heart tells me to do, but you've all carved a spot into that heart - and I want to know where and what we should do together next.
Again, thank you all, so much. I'll keep trying and improving as best I can, so that I can transport us to new and wonderful places, because nothing makes me happier than knowing my words have touched so many in a positive way.

Lots of routes you can go from documenting your adventures as your progress in the Verse to scripted shoots and short stories intertwined with SC lore and fiction. Lots of content creators cover the data, up-coming and patch release reviews....the creative story-line driven productions seem to be far and few between. Either way, I look forward to your next.

The truth is, you deserve it to be mentioned, because you just did a great job. Very well written and especially spoken. In 2840, Hurston Dynamics forced on its population on planet Hurston more draconian laws that amongst other things banned alcohol to improve productivity in their factories. As a response, the population started an odd but effective protest called the chair standers revolt. People all over Hurston started standing on their chairs to get their booze back. People all around Stanton joined the protest in solidarity and on every planet and station, you could find people standing on their chairs.
It didn't make sense, yet after only 3 months, the regime relented and the people got their booze back. Even today over a hundred years later, people stand on chairs as a celebration to that one time the people won over oppression.

Your introspection, passion and digital travels to find what makes you and others happy through the worlds of Elite Dangerous (I was an explorer there) and Star Citizen. With money being a vehicle but not the destination, you gave some good food for thought on how it is possible for people to pour as much of themselves as they wish into it, and still get more than they give if they keep good awareness, intentions and spirit.

I think “game world size” is overrated. A space is only as good as the unique things you can see or do in that space, and it’s something that Star Citizen delivers even in the Alpha stage, and it’s why I was addicted to the idea of Star Citizen early this summer until I finally pledged about a month ago. I absolutely love the tech CIG is developing and it makes for an incredibly immersive experience

One my favorite moments in my gaming life came from entering the security post to clear my crimestat and I can still remember my heart pounding as rushed around the statiton trying to monitor the hacking terminal and cover all the hatches waiting for that long hacking sequence to complete. Before it finished, a bounty hunter showed up. I didn't hear him because there is too much background noise. But I saw him. I had a split second head start as I drew my weapon and fired 3 rounds into his head. This was by far better and more exciting than anything I've ever done in any other game. Unlike COD where death is meaningless, to win a gun battle here, clear your crimestat and fly away free and clear is absolutely thrilling. One hour playing this game can be more fun, more enjoyable than a 1000 hours playing just about anything else. I can't speak for everyone, but that's how I feel about it. I play other games, but eventually I move on. After nearly a decade, I keep coming back to SC. Never quite having my thirst for adventure quenched.
This video expresses how I feel about SC. I won't bash ED because despite all it's issues it has helped revive the space sim/combat genre. Microsoft and all the big publishers feel stupid after rejecting Chris Robert's vision for PC game. I keep hearing people comparing SC to MS Flight Simulator, but here's the biggest difference: After you have flown around in the flight sim, there's nothing else to do. It reminds me of a trip on a real plane. I look out the window at the beautiful sky, clouds and horizon... And then I close the blind and go back to sleep. But in SC you get to live a virtual life in space and there's no limit to what you can do.

I can sometimes just fly to a place, walk out, experience weather, mountaintops and forestwalking. And when I log off, parts of my brain is tricked into thinking I actually went to a snowy mountainhike. Its all about tricking the brain into thinking its all real. ''I needed something to look forward to.'' Fuck me dude, that just me hit me so hard. I've never been able to put my feeling into words until I heard what you said.
I got into Star Citizen during a turbulent time in my life. Bullied at work due to an injury I sustained on the job, I had taken my workplace to the regulatory body for compensation (which I got on both counts) and I really didn't know where to go after that. I lived off that income until it ran out in late 2017/early 2018 and almost defaulted on my house loan looking for a job. My family supported me during this time and I came very close to just giving up and dying. I'm fine now with an excellent job that pays very well for what it is (which has allowed me back the project even further).
In a way the game saved my life. Because I wanted to see where this other universe went. I didn't like the world in which I lived, but I loved the fictional one CIG had created. Gaming hasn't really improved that much since I got my first PC back around 2007/8. Sure everything looks better, but there's no game that really aimed for the stars (figuratively and literally), everything has been done at a snails pace in terms of improving the size/complexity of the worlds we like to escape to. CIG is holding the ''AAA'' developers over the coals and will hopefully flip the industry on its head.
    Thanks for this lovely video.

Amazing video, I l felt as I had gone on your journey with you. I've "only" had a 10th of the time in Elite, but I kept thinking, I'd rather play Star Citizen. I was going to wait until space legs. I wanted that Armstrong moment. But you remember when Armstrong was instantly teleported outside of the lunar lander onto to the surface of the moon? Yeah, me neither. The more I read on Odyssey the more disappointed I became. Star Citizen spoiled me. Space interiors add gameplay and make the ship feel like home. I opened up the cargo bay doors of a ship and used the tank inside to shoot and destroy an attacking ship. What other game lets me do that?! Add in future gameplay like ship fires, repairing, ship components, disabling gravity, and ships breaking (and getting sucked into space)... then it becomes painfully clear why ship interiors matter.
I'd tell you go look at the next update we're getting in a couple of weeks with explorable gas giants on "Inside star Citizen: Life among the Clouds", but I fear I'd get you to buy another ship again. Loved the video. I hope you talk about more SC adventures.

My story is similar, although I never went down the Elite path, I did realize both games started about the same time, but 2 different sides of the coin. One is the old way, one is the new. Star Citizen/Chris Roberts knew that in order for you to have life like game play, you have to walk in ships and on planets, not be a ship. It takes a lot of work and time to make the tools for this type of game. Once the tools are in place, it will go much faster. It is good to see someone that feels the same way about SC. As a new player to the Star Citizen Verse, I can honestly say this video put a very large nail into the Elite Dangerous coffin for me. There was a time a few years ago when I would have NEVER thought I would ever say something like that.

David, you're right. There is no other experience like Star Citizen. This was a great reminder there are great things to come. A reminder I actually needed at this point. Awesome video and story. I truly hope you post more content!!! I am subscribed and looking forward to it.

I used to play elite. I loved the scale of it and the flight model is still the best I've seen. I found the gameplay to be shallow, but I still enjoyed flying and mining.
The cheating I encountered on my first community event was what made me put the game down.
I've played SC roughly one week a year for the past couple years now increased to once a quarter. It's the most beautiful space sim and, despite all the bugs, makes me feel at peace and connected to the world.

As someone who has become extremely frustrated at the speed of SC development it was good to hear the side of the optimist, especially someone who has put their money where their mouth is.
You narration and editing were spot on, it must have taken a good deal of work to make this video.
Chris Roberts should be paying you, not the other way around.
See you in the verse, eventually!

I think you know too well how frustrating it can be to see SC at its worst, but there's always the dream - and that dream is tangible now, I think we will see that dream realized soon one day. Time is weird, as 2012/2013 seems like it was only just yesterday, but I know when SC finally does reach its end-goal, we can all look back fondly on the 30k's and NPCs standing on chairs - because we were there.

The weird thing about time is that it goes faster the older you get.
But yeah, we have to take the rough with the smooth. No reins means a wild ride and the insurmountable mountains are now only hills at least.
The true gamechanger will be server meshing if it works, that is when the Universe can be properly populated and we will likely get better content dumps.

@@Muckylittleme My friend Andrew, who also loved SC, who I'm still in his Org named Crowne with, passed away suddenly without warning in 2017. I know he'd love this and the current state of SC and where its going - but he's no longer with us, so we all have to enjoy it twice as much to make up for the giant gap of enthusiasm he had for SC that he has left behind.
