@@o-wolf technically the current iteration of star citizen has only been in development since about 2015, since that was when the project, at the communities request, was scaled up and required lots of new novel tech. A lot of people always joke about how this game will never release or how the devs spend times on thing they shouldn’t be, but god damn is this game intricate and detailed
Lol, right now elite dangerous is on the same path as Star Citizen with a fraction of the budget and their alpha already looks very promising, in a few years ED will already have a fully set game released for all while SC is struggling to beta test a few planets for the next couple years while scamming people out of their money. I should also mention that the ED dev team only has a fraction of the budget. I should also mention that small game companies with less than a dozen devs have already proven that anyone with the skill and dedication can create a full fledged game without tens of millions of dollars and still get done within 2-4 years on average
I just started the game today, had my eye on it for years but finally took the plunge and got it. Never played anything like this before but I am absolutely loving what I have seen so far.

when we got the promise for 100 star systems there was not this high level of scale, so expect a smaller number of them at "release" but the quantity of them will be equal or greater to the ones promised
Yes, IIRC at the time the 100 systems were announced we didn't even have planetary tech. The idea was that you approach the planet above the landing zone, then ask for landing permissions and you get a cutscene of your ship landing (basically a loading screen). You can see remnants of this in the design of the Cutlass's rotating engines. They don't make a lot of sense now, they're too far back to work properly, but back then the rotation was only going to be used in the landing cutscene. The freelancer was also going to be like that (search for the freelancer ad here on YT) but the rotating engines got cut from that ship. I believe the Caterpillar was going to be like that as well, if you look at where the outer engines meet the body, you have what looks like a rotating collar.
yes the 105 systems comees from when they just needed 3 million orso but as no mans sky and ED have shown, number of systems in meaningless, its about content density

There's one magnitude they have surely stretched to the confines of patience: Time.
Wrong. Google it: there are MANY games that took 10+ years and none of them had halfways the scope of SC nor did they had to start with 40 people, getting up to 500+. Really... the information is out there, google it. The ONLY thing that is different: now you know how tedious game development really is. But it was never that different, not for Cyberpunk, not for RDR nor GTA. They all took over 8 years.
@@Grimshak81 This is true, however most of that dev time may have been on the drawing board and not actual coding. SC has had near 10 years of coding behind it and the game is nowhere near anything that remotely resembles a full game. The development pace seems very slow. It feels like they are spending more time on the visual fidelity of the game rather than actual gameplay. I would much rather see them produce more systems rather than some tech which simulates humidity based on calculations of how it is on earth.... In my view that is just wrong priorities and I really don't think that CR is the right man for the job. He can't lead and produce an actual product. At least it feels like that.

@@yeahnahman4217 That "idea" soured whole kickstarter initiative for many. If you consider how long the development is taking, there will be nothing visionary when the game releases. In 5-10 years, all their current tech will be out dated. Industry is moving forward, new hardware and tech is being introduced. Best example would be Elite Dangerous. Game that wasn't designed for space legs is getting space legs. Other games, in that same development time, introduced game loops, tested them, got feedback on them and introduced next iterations of them. At the same time SC struggles to deliver their first iteration of systems. As for Time Limit, there is one. It's called bank balance. They are burning through the funds and they may run out before the game is close to anything releasable. There are dreams, and there is reality. And reality is that developers won't work for free. Building maintenance, electricity, internet etc... all of these cost money. Majority of funds gathered are gone and game isn't close to any release date(look up last news when their finances were released).

well in the end, they're doing something that all developers avoided... due to well, the time this will take, someone had to be the first. its not like you can reduce the time either, they're the first to tackle this size, therefore the first to solve the issues. yes , game has been taking ages, but evenso, they're paving a future of games, setting the scale for future space games far beyond your imagination. not only is this a game, its an experiment, an indicator of whats realistic and whats not, an idea of time and result. Not only for SC devs, but for all devs to see. It's something many dont realise or see. They could've done the same aproach as no mans sky, simple ships, simple mechanics, and procedural generation. but then again, its not even close to what they're aiming for, if they went ahead with the no mans sky approach, they'd be long done, not only due to the simplicity of it (more or less) but also due to the fact that it's already been done, therefore making it easier to learn from mistakes made in the past.
People are still acting like this game isn't vaporware? Lol, you guys are all delusional, this game is never coming out, you're all just pumping money into a scam. FUNDING a game's development? What a mega cope.
Damn what an awesome Video! The devs themselves would not be able to come even close to this quality! Great time to be a gamer but bad time to be the wallet of a gamer :D
You're basically describing a smaller No Man's Sky with higher system requirements and slightly better visuals. That said, great job on the video -- very high quality.
No man's sky don't have a simulated map rendered in real time, all the planets and assets need loading to exist. NMS has the biggest *"Game menu map",* but all of the solar systems and planets are not rendered in real time like in star citizen. *That said, Star citizen has the biggest simulated map in any game,* nothing comes closen so this video is right 3:07 . *"slightly better visuals."* to call it "slightly better" when you are comparing a game with cartoon graphics to a game that achieves realistic graphic detail with 8k textures, it seems like a pathetic attempt to belittle star citizen
Wait so if 1 AU (Astronomical Unit) is the distance from us to Sol, our sun, that means microtech is only 33% of the distance earth is from the sun away from the Stanton's sun. Interesting.
yes, Stanton is only 5 AU in the lore (Sol is 51 AU), the Tamsa system however is 304 AU, the Ellis system is 101 AU, the Cano system is only 4 AU. so there's quite a large variety in sizes.

Regular AAA games take years to be developed...what do we expect with this kind of project? Star Citizen is definitely something to enjoy during its development, and to look forward to upon completion. We should simply enjoy the journey. Awesome video my brother.

How is it intricate or detailed? I can name other games that have just about every single thing SC does down pat. If you’ve ever played it you’d know.
@@kehreazerith3016 yeah but they have different goals. SC at least has cities and life and stuff but yeah it still sucks rn

you have made this comment a year ago. I bought my pledge half a year ago. That probably means that the company is finally making a good progress, cause I have been following game since around 2014. I have bought the game, and I do have stuff to do in it. Not that much really, sometimes it gets boring. But... I did not try many possible professions, I did not try to live as an outlaw and make illegal missions. But I do constantly get back in the verse just to fly around and do a few bounties. There is no such a game as this one. The truth. And that is the reason people buy it. Even at this pity state if the verse, the game offers much more than the other fully released games do. And that is the thing I love about this game. I just hope i live long enough to see the huge verse and probably the Mother Earth!!!

when we got the promise for 100 star systems there was not this high level of scale, so expect a smaller number of them at "release"
but the quantity of them will be equal or greater to the ones promised
Yes, IIRC at the time the 100 systems were announced we didn't even have planetary tech. The idea was that you approach the planet above the landing zone, then ask for landing permissions and you get a cutscene of your ship landing (basically a loading screen). You can see remnants of this in the design of the Cutlass's rotating engines. They don't make a lot of sense now, they're too far back to work properly, but back then the rotation was only going to be used in the landing cutscene. The freelancer was also going to be like that (search for the freelancer ad here on YT) but the rotating engines got cut from that ship. I believe the Caterpillar was going to be like that as well, if you look at where the outer engines meet the body, you have what looks like a rotating collar.
yes the 105 systems comees from when they just needed 3 million orso
but as no mans sky and ED have shown, number of systems in meaningless, its about content density
There is no airlock?! You have to depressurize the whole ship to get out?!
Not every ship has those mechanics, well atleast I thought so
That would be hard to fit on a small ship like that

@@ULTRAOutdoorsman this game is probably coming out 2025+

A taste of Star Citizen's scale: $400m, 9 years, 0 game.
well in the end, they're doing something that all developers avoided... due to well, the time this will take, someone had to be the first. its not like you can reduce the time either, they're the first to tackle this size, therefore the first to solve the issues. yes , game has been taking ages, but evenso, they're paving a future of games, setting the scale for future space games far beyond your imagination. not only is this a game, its an experiment, an indicator of whats realistic and whats not, an idea of time and result. Not only for SC devs, but for all devs to see.
It's something many dont realise or see.
They could've done the same aproach as no mans sky, simple ships, simple mechanics, and procedural generation. but then again, its not even close to what they're aiming for, if they went ahead with the no mans sky approach, they'd be long done, not only due to the simplicity of it (more or less) but also due to the fact that it's already been done, therefore making it easier to learn from mistakes made in the past.
naah Star Citizens Alpha has more content than 99% of all AAA titles

I’m so glad that this came accross my feed
Damn what an awesome Video! The devs themselves would not be able to come even close to this quality! Great time to be a gamer but bad time to be the wallet of a gamer :D
Scale of the game is nearly as big as the scale of the scam they've pulled.
*"slightly better visuals."* to call it "slightly better" when you are comparing a game with cartoon graphics to a game that achieves realistic graphic detail with 8k textures, it seems like a pathetic attempt to belittle star citizen
this, this is why we support this game
The game is so big it can only simulate a star cluster size only and not the entire universe
That was a damn good video.

Wait so if 1 AU (Astronomical Unit) is the distance from us to Sol, our sun, that means microtech is only 33% of the distance earth is from the sun away from the Stanton's sun. Interesting.
