- Without a frame of reference, the sheer scale of this game cannot be truly appreciated during gameplay. Here's a look at the majesty of Star Citizen.
This video was inspired by the trailer for The Green Knight that I saw recently. The song used is Lapse by Black Math, also from that trailer.

star citizen in VR is the closest we may get to the matrix in the near future. absolutely massively excited for this game. I can wait as long as it takes, I have many years ahead.

sometimes i had ingame moments when i was just stunned by the game
i was on a cargo delivery mission and was about to leave an icy moon, just bevore i started the elevator i took a look back into the vast emptiness (it was filled with natural rocks and hills etc., that kind of empty) that was stretching over the horizon, only limited by my ships hull, the air filled with energy, a second turned into two, two became 5, 5 became a minute and a minute became 3. that moment just had something magical about it, it was not special at all, just another desert about to be left behind, but this one, this one said:" calm down and take a minute, relax and put everything else aside for a while, no job that you have to do, no appointments you have to meet, no one you have to look after, just for that short while everything will be non existent, only you and the beautiful view." and oh boy, it was right, it was like a cool shower on a hot day, a cold beer at a campfire evening, whatever you deem as super refreshing, all that with just a few pixels.
The wow factor in this game is amazing and it kinda opened my eyes again, don't just rush through your worlds from one objective to an other, just take a look around, the world may be larger and more beautiful than you ever imagined

I've gotten stranded EVA at a bounty hunting spot, and just watching the fights from far away is so cinematic. Bet you get amazing footage when Xenothreat comes back!
Superb work mate. Loved the ending tying into the beginning with the little twist at the very end. You certainly do get a sense of scale, especially when you actually know the 890 jump that was outside the station is actually longer than four olympic swimming pools end to end.
Thanks for taking the time to create this and I'd love to see more, especially at higher resolutions. :)

That's why David Braben won't even bother to fix the basic issue like instancing and multicrew, let alone making ship interior in Elite Dangeorus because he knew he won't be able to compete with this.
I found out about Star Citizen in the early days of E:D because I was always in the FDev forums complaining about my desire for atmospheric planets and walking in ships. "Go play Star Citizen instead" they kept telling me. Advice taken, never looked back.
tbh i dont blame the guy. this game is insane
I want to feel sorry for the guy (because I also really like ED) but I just can't. I remember back when ED first released and David talked so much shit and took little digs at SC in interviews and press releases. "... _Our game is playable right now_ ...", "... _We will be able to add all those things to our game at a later time_ ...", "... _ED can have all of those mechanics if we wanted to add them, but we don't feel they're necessary in order for the game to be fun_ ...". Chris Roberts was still doing his monthly "A Word from the Chairman" newsletters and every chance he got, he would give a positive shout out to ED, encourage his community to buy and play ED, and he would personally congratulate David on ED's launch and continued success. To this day; to my knowledge; David Braben has never once said anything positive or sincerely nice about Star Citizen. And that's ok I guess, but the #TaleOfTheTwoTapes; as it were; are starting to bear fruit.
It is *CLEARLY* no longer debatable which developmental approach (building/implementing every mechanic up front ala Star Citizen vs adding mechanics on the backend ala Elite: Dangerous) was the better choice. One approach allows for instant gratification and the ability to poke fun at the other one but closes the door on future gameplay MECHANICS implementation (or at the very least it will be very very difficult to pull off). New places and areas to play in (ie: content) can easily be added with little to no effort but adding new ways to play (ie: mechanics) becomes problematic. While the other approach; like a fine wine; takes its time to build those systems (most of them from the ground up) and implement them up front, the foundation and infrastructure is already in place gets better over time and in the long run.

I have been playing since 2.6 and people ask should I wait, all I can say is yes and no. For you have to experience it to know what players are talking about.
If you want the experience of the Universe being birthed around you 'No'. If you want a finished product way down the line 'yes'.

I have a full (at least) ten minute script ready for Episode 1. Waiting for 3.14 to see if the emotes start working again. If they still don't then I'm going to continue without them anyway!

That asteroid pop-in at the start was maybe not the best introduction to visual majesty....
that wasn't pop-in, you can see the silhouettes of the asteroids before they come into the light but that is the asteroid belt orbiting around the planet and the sun hitting them as it does.

As much as I love the game, until it's in a stable state where it doesn't take 1 - 2 hours to meet up with nooby friends, it'll get hate. I understand where it comes from. Ignore the people that hate it and just enjoy.
