I've had dogs all my life. When I lived at home with my parents as a kid we had Irish Setters and Newfoundland dogs and Mastiff breeds. As an Adult I've had Setters, Collie breads, Shepherds, toy breeds and St. Schnauzers. However after having my first Doberman, they will be the last bread I will ever own. I cannot even begin to describe the bond between them and their human companions. I can honestly say that these dogs come closest to a human kind of love than any other dog that I've ever known. Its sacrificial, never looking for anything in return. If I can't have a Dobe, then I don't want any other dog.

That's why so many people that have had a doberman, say they won't get another one after theirs dies, because of the incredible loss they feel of that family, or human like bond that they had devloped.

I used to take them on surveillance with me at night for my work as a private investigator for many years. I used ultrasonic dog whistles that I trained them with to give them commands if we were in foot. No doubt in my mind that breed saved my life while I was working. The only question was how many times was it. Too many to count. I Love those dogs. 👍

My grandfather trained German Shepherds and Dobermans for the English use in WWII. they moved from England to California where my father bought a Doberman for we three boys to raise on our ranch! Parents never worried about three young boys out wandering around if the dog was with us!! Natural protectors!!!! Loved ALL OF OUR DOBERMANS over the years!!!

That is the heart breaking truth. Over the years I have known several beautiful Dobes who died at relatively young ages ( that's not to say that other breeds don't also sadly suffer premature demises) . I live in a part of the UK and I hardly ever see a Doberman anymore when I am out and about taking my typical daily walk.

I love my Dobies. She is loyal, loving, caring, shy of strangers, patrols my home with fierceness. Let's me know when something is not right around the house. She is quite calm, but really gets angry when other dogs come around the house that she does not know. Loves to go for walks with Mommy. One thing though, she hates car rides. She whines and acts like she is uncomfortable. So I just walk her when I can, which is almost everyday, and I am at home with her since I am retired and no longer have to work. I had her professionally trained and she has never forgotten. She is very sensitive and one of the best dogs I have had the pleasure to own me.....

My Doberman doesn't like work, she only follows commands if I'm holding a treat (like beef jerky disks). Oh she knows her commands but if you aren't holding something she wants (like her chew toy) then all she does is look at you.
My Doberman Pinche, Scarlet: "You want me to sit? Well ya furless biped, are you holding payment?"
    Me: "No."
    Scarlet: "Aaaaand there's your answer."
    Me: "Rotten bitch."
Scarlet: "Uh huh, look, I've got a full schedule today. I gotta strip all the fuzz off a tennis ball, pull the stuffing out of a stuffed animal, not give you any privacy when you go ANYWHERE, etc. Get back to me when you bring something other than your pink carapace to the table. K? Bye."

No this breed was Dobermanns were first bred in the 1880s by Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann, a tax collector who ran a dog pound in Apolda, in Thuringia in central Germany. With access to dogs of many breeds, he got the idea to create a breed that would be ideal for protecting him.

An interesting presentation on nutrition and feeding toward the end of this video. However, it should be noted that wild canines eat virtually zero starches, so we should all probably re-think the corn based dog foods, and foods high in other starch sources, like potatoes, or even rice.
Also, in the USA veterinarians get little or NO education in animal nutrition. Certain doig food companies, however, do strongly promote themselves to students attending vet schools.

    • @paulbaker6051
      @paulbaker6051 Рік тому

@Jefferdaughter, Totally agree that Veterinarians, like medical practitioners here in the us are clueless when it comes to nutrition. My last vet was okay with feeding any 'organic' dry dog food and most know how bad that is. Imagine being a human who only are dry food that holds little to no nutrition. I remember taking my Min Pin to a different vet when he was about 12 and he had arthritis. The first question he asked me was if I fed my dog dry food. He explained that one of many issues is that dogs and cats have a problem absorbing vitamins and minerals and wind up with a plethora of health issues. Ciao.

I don't know. They have superior hearing and smelling. I have tried to hide from my Doberman! It cannot be done. You would think that with my scent clearly very strong in our home, it would be hard for her to find me...The scent would be too strong, and it would confuse her. I have an upstairs house. One day I caught Lady outside, so I decided to see if I could hide from her. Lady came back into the house, she immediately went where she last saw me. Then she started running through the house. I could hear her going from room to room. She stopped, got quiet. Then she came flying up the steps. She came right to the closet, and started pawing, whining, and barking at the closet door. When I opened the door, she was so excited. She was twisting and turning, whining and exciting, very happy..

Alright alright alright… why on earth would too much protein be bad for a dog? I get that the idea is that it’s not good for their kidneys, but like humans, it’s way better to have too much than not enough protein, and being a LEGIT carnivore they eat meat, full stop. Don’t tell me your dog is vegan, nonsense. The only thing might be that most animal proteins are filled with fat, so lean meat is relatively rare. And no, dogs get their vitamins from the animal organ meats. If on a meat diet the animal doesn’t need as much and as many vitamins and minerals. Liver is nature’s multi vitamin.

How do german shepherds compare to dobermans as guard dogs. I have a czech working line german shepherd but have never owned a doberman. anybody have experience with both breeds?

Both are excellent. But I would just say,,,, if you are keeping your dog / dogs outside, and you live somewhere that is / gets cold, then don't get a Doberman. In fact, even if you live in a warm place don't keep a Doberman outside all the time. They are not good outside, on their own. They NEED close companionship. Two or more Dobermans having free run of a well secure property during the day is good, but need to be indoors with people at night. Not that I would recommend having just one outdoor GSD either. I'm on my second Doberman, wonderful hounds. Never had GSD but had plenty of experience with them. The one or two I have met that are pure guard dogs, always outside, on their own,,,, are screwed in the head. Hey, good guard dogs but it's cruel in my opinion. 😉🐶 hope this babble helps😁

Black n Tan my German shepherd lives indoors with family. I brought my gsd as a family pet and protector of the home and family. just wondering how Dobermans compared.

Having owned several dogs of both breeds, it would be hard for me to choose between the two for overall working ability. Every dog is an individual, of course, and there are some differences in their working 'style', but a good example of either breed can become an outstanding working dog for personal protection and/or general guard work.
That said, the GSD does have a coat better suited to very cold weather, or cool wet weather. Ours never showed any aversion to cold or wet weather, but always had access to adequate shelter when they were not in the house. The Dobermans obviously enjoyed the snow, and their activity level no doubt helped them stay warm, along with a good diet.
On the other hand, when a Doberman sheds, the hair falls to the floor where it is easily swept or vacuumed away. The undercoat of a GSD when shed in the spring drifts on the air and gets into everything.

Adopt widely shop wisely.... Not every family is equipped to deal with a rehomed dog...especially the working breed . I ve had four Dobermans....no kibble....ever....a balanced raw diet!!!!!

When I was a boy I owned a German shepherd that was the king in my neighborhood and one my dog took on a Doberman a fight to the end which my dog won the fight the owner of the Doberman was shocked that his dog had lost to,my dog,but not me for my dog was tested and had lots of courage against any dog. I'll a take a shepherd over a Doberman any day of the year!

The fact your dog attacks another dog is a sign of a stupid and pathetic owner. People like you shouldn't be allowed to have a dog.

There are a number of dog breeds, that can win against other dog breeds.😐
All because you [claim], that your German Shepherd, won a fight against a Doberman Pinscher, does NOT mean that all Doberman Pinschers, will lose a fight.🤔 Every dog, is different. Maybe, another Doberman Pinscher, would win against a German Shepherd.
One thing for sure, and I am only assuming, but a Rottweiler, would probably win a fight, against a German Shepherd, Doberman Pinscher, and Pitbull!😲
Plus, this Documentary, is about the Doberman Pinschers; NOT, about dog fighting. Why would you even want your German Shepherd, to fight against other dogs? You were, allegedly, putting your dog at risk, for possibly getting injured, when it allegedly, confronted the Doberman Pinscher.😒
All that I have to say, is that Doberman Pinschers, are beautiful, aristocratic-looking, elegant, fearless, powerful, with a devastating [scissor-type] bite force, intimidating, tall, muscular, SCARY-looking, always playing the [villain] dog, in a LOT of Movies, etc. I, personally, LOVE Doberman Pinschers, and I ALWAYS will!😍
Thank you, Mr. Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann, Tax Collector, in Germany, for creating this Man-Made-Masterpiece, the DOBERMAN PINSCHER, in [1890]!🏋💪👍
