  • The Rottweiler is a breed of domestic dog, regarded as medium-to-large or large. The dogs were known in German as Rottweiler Metzgerhund, meaning Rottweil butchers' dogs, because one of their uses was to herd livestock and pull carts laden with butchered meat to market.[3] This continued until the mid-19th century when railways replaced droving for herding. Rottweilers are now used as search and rescue dogs, as guide dogs for the blind, as guard dogs and police dogs.
    Character: Strong, sure, fearless.
Particularity: In the past, butchers used this powerful dog to haul meat barrows and protect their goods and earnings. -

Rottweilers are few of the breeds I've seen that really protects the owner without any protection tranin needed. These dogs not only bark but will bite for protecting their owners ❤️

Allot of dog's will naturally protect if someone actually puts hands on their owner.. BUT !! Any dog like that NEEDS to be trained.. you don't want a dog like that making decisions to bite/attack on its own. That's how dog's end up taken away & put down... Trust me, I've been arrested more than once for dog bites lol.

the best dog breed I've ever owned!! my last Rottweiler passed three years ago and I still miss her so much. We fostered two Pit bulls and ended up adopting them since we couldn't get them adopted but I still want to adopt another Rottie..

    • @manonfc
      @manonfc 3 роки тому +2

@Rishank Pratti A well-socialized Rottie doesn't pose a threat to others as long as you are the ALFA. My Rotties were very friendly towards all my family members, and friends, but they were still very protective when strangers would ring the doorbell or knock on the front door. They would run toward the door, pounce on it while barking and growling. They sounded very vicious!! If we allowed the person in the house, the dogs would smell them and then retreat. They knew that person was not a threat to us since we allowed them in.
They have to be socialized at a young age, by introducing them to other dogs, kids, people in different situations. If you are a first-time Rottie owner, I would recommend adopting a Rottie from a rottweiler rescue group, they would let you know the dog's personality, and advise you.
The bottom line, being the ALFA with that breed is important. Here's a channel you can watch and learn from.. ua-cam.com/channels/DNGKJ7sJ6OMH9kDafPaMRg.html

This is the best breed ever created and this video is very good. As a dog trainer, I respectfully disagree with the instruction of pushing on the dogs bum to make him sit. That movement can be hard on their hips. It's better to "scoop" the underneath his bum, creating the same result without the pressure on the hips, or hold your hand or a treat above his head, moving it back towards his back. This will make him lift his nose toward the air, which will automatically move his bum toward the ground.

I have to add my own option. First Rottie 1988, on my final 7th (I'm getting too old now). My babies were all papered, and beautiful. Basic training, but tons of walking in the hills which in I live. I did not own them for any purpose but love. This video, which I do not dispute, I just wanted to give another point of view. My "kids" watched my 1/2 acre to where the "hood" knew us. Kept the runt babies off my first male, then years later adopted a pup from the pound. They helped train him. I could walk 300#'s of dogs (all 3 of them) down the street no problem. I was very strong then. But, point being, when I got home from work, the slept inside on the bed with me. First, just the Alpha male. When the new baby came, Alpha gave up his spot slowly.
They are, the best dog EVER to have. Just have room for them. At work, they stayed outside. NONE were ever Crated... I find that like, "how would you like to be in a small cage". NO... but that's just me. 20 years, 7 Rotts. All both loving and still great watch dogs, and I had the best memories of my life. My last baby is a deaf "rescue" baby. Came at 8 months, now 2 1/2 yrs old. I giggle, as what she hates is "bicycles". I know, people have different uses for their Rotties. Just wanted to share my life's world with them. : D

I want to say thanks to both "Randal" and R M for your replies. I'm both "old (age) and new" (youtube). Would never have know had not RM somehow got a msg to my box. LOL, 1st one. That aside, Rotties now next yr 30 yrs owner. Really, basic training classes for a "home dog" has worked for me. That being said, they "ran the property" while I was at work. I did spoil them. And still do "Paikia". Cook her whole chickens. Make stock from the skin, bones, and veggies. 1 hour in the pressure cooker. Chill overnight, skim the schmaltz (fat) and feed that w/Blue Buffalo kibble. Her coat glows. I'm sure the kibble would be fine. But I like that she gets the extra nutrition from all the leached bone marrow, and veg. LOL, my first babies, poor things were fed on kibble and Pedigree canned food mix. However, their coats glowed as well. : D Thanks again.

My advice to anyone getting a Rottie, be prepared to have your heart broken when they eventually pass away. Show them love and they will show you unconditional love, loyalty and protection. They are like a child that never makes a mistake. Nothing in this world can take away the sadness of losing a Rottie, but looking back he brought our family together and we can happily say we gave him the best possible life with care, attention and the finest meats. Till we meet again....

Thank you for this very very informational video, because I now know that a Rottweiler is definitely too much for me to handle. A Boxer with intuition is much more my style. I recognize that I have a very informal style of training. I have very few absolutes. Stay, back up,stop, come, down, sit, outside/potty, mine/give (leave it/drop it) ; ok/free/go run are release terms for different situations. Intoning a very stern sounding "what're u DOIN?" has always stopped any breed when I have been in another room and I don't know what they are doing, and they come trottng back to be by my side as they come, I say "heel" and capture that behavior with praise, and substitute it from time to time, but come usually means heel to the left side anyway.
Against your advice for this dog, which I'm not sure is the same advice for every breed you have a documentary for, I did talk a lot with my Boxer and I actually never had to train her, she simply always intuitive what to do regardless of what the other dogs in the pack were doing, and it was always the appropriate sit or down or stay or heel or get between my son and anyone too rambunctious or even a guest and someone ranting about a situation in their life from down the street. My Boxer set herself foursquare against that possible foe. I never trained her to do that either. She just somehow seemed to innately know exactly how to behave in every situation. She really was the easiest dog ever had.

@@scrotalhanger9351 we're not mad if its done for medical purposes. I've had 2 dogs with docked tails 1 because of frost bit the other was broken beyond repair. That being said the VAST majority of dogs with docked tails is done so for looks and looks ALONE.

All guardian breeds should be tested accordingly. The pig pug nosed registered Rottweilers is a sham and unhealthy.

Why do they cut off the tails of Rottweilers?
It's almost always done for "looks." Some breeds, like boxers, dobermans and rottweilers, have had docked tails for so long, people just consider it normal. However, there is no good reason to do it. It's painful for the dog, obviously, and can lead to some health problems, although that's not common.
Tail docking should be banned world wide in my personal opinion it's cruel and is barbaric and it's unnecessary
Why do you cut the tail of a Rottweiler?
Its a common practice of docking tails which used to be carried out till some years back. It was commonly done among the working, hunting or herding breeds of the dogs such as the rottweilers, boxers, pinchers. ... But since, now dogs are no more used for working purposes it is done nowadays for cosmetic purpose.

It is for their protection = these dogs like the dobs, boxers, mastiffs are GLADIATORS, some had to protect sheep against wolves, they are not pointers or golden retrievers- can you imagine how long would a man with a hip pony tail would last in a cage - no rules - fight ? Or in any street fight - unless you are Steven Seagal...

handle this breed. .... and to owners of
Rottweilers...PLEASE do not feed ur Rottweilers
any raw food like meat...ever..this raw foods
