I been doing my studying on the dogo Argentino for a while now hopefully in August I will be a new home owner and will definitely be getting a new family member
Ok. Here's some useful advice coming from someone experienced with this breed: 1. They may like to sun bathe. Since they are white in color without the neccessary pigmentation for protecting them from the sun, it is imperative that you keep them away from prolonged sun exposure. Being active on hot sunny days is cool, but dont allow them to lay in one spot in the sun. They tend to develop hot spots and that will definitely lead to cancer as they get older. Trust me it's not pretty, especially in the end! 2. Make sure to socialize him/her starting from an early age. Family members, neighborhood children, other animals, etc. Otherwise you may have a dog that becomes hard to handle. 3. DO NOT allow your dogo to interact with aggressive dogs as a puppy. If your dogo gets attacked there's a good chance that he/she will grow up to be aggressive and want to attack every dog it comes into contact with as an adult. If this does happen make sure to continue socializing right away. There are no guarantees that socializing beyond that point will correct their future behavior 100%. 4. Make sure you are on site to pick the best puppy possible for you from the litter. Either that or work closely with a qualified breeder that knows which puppy will be right for you. Otherwise you might get an alpha from the litter, and not know how to handle it if you've never had experience with an alpha before. 5. Dogos are very strong willed and powerful mentally. If you don't have any experience handling an ALPHA from a power breed such as the Dogo Argentino, you may wind up with a dog you can't handle and can become a threat, especially to family and other dogs. 6. It is not necessary to be physically aggressive in disciplining your dogo. They are very smart, yet sensitive, and can be corrected through less aggressive means. 7. They do well with other dogs as companions. But, be careful! They can be a little aggressive in establishing their dominance in the pack. So, pay close attention when introducing other dogs that may have alpha energy. 2 alphas can be a mess! 8. Make sure to understand that all they want to do is please you as their master. Regular exercise, correct discipline, proper diet, and regular contact with its master is important. 9. Make sure to be confident with this breed. With any power breed they will have the potential to want to test you/others if they sense fear and insecurity. And, this could result in tragedy. Always be confident and make sure to exude that. 10. If your plan is to be a single owner and companion of your dogo, be careful in allowing children around them if they never were growing up. This is important if children were never a part of the equation for your dogo growing up. Children have a tendancy to pull tails, yank ears, poke and prod, and agitate in other ways. Believe me... this is the wrong animal to be doing this too under those conditions. The dogo argentino is a loyal companion dedicated to protecting you and family. They do not sit at your feet, they sit on your feet! Its dual nature should be understood and respected.
The alphas of this breed are the ones best suited for their intended purpose, which is hunting. Or, even guarding. They excel in these arenas with the right guidance from experienced people.
Just my opinion, but... In terms of diet, make sure to look into foods other than Purina or Pedigree and foods that can be purchased at big name stores like Walmart and Costco. Those are not high quality foods, and are known to be processed with scrap ingredients. You want as much "grain free" as possible. Dry dog food such as Blue Buffalo, Taste Of The Wild, Orijen, Instinct, Wellness, Victor, Nulo, Canidae, Nutro, Diamond Naturals, and so many others are great options. A raw supplementation in conjunction with regular diet is a considerable option too. Do your research.. Although more expensive, they are much higher quality and lead to a better longer life without expensive vet bills.
Also, in terms of exercising: Dogos are athletic. But, just like with people you cannot start off at 100 mph in the beginning. For example, when taking them on runs, whether it be a bike or just on foot with you, make sure to let them build up their stamina over time. Start them off a little at a time and when you see or feel them slowing down and/or beginning to pant heavily - stop for a bit and allow them to rest and recover. Let them go at their own pace and build their stamina for longer runs over time. Just common sense. I had a neighbor once that would take his dog with him on runs up a popular mountain in my area. All it took was one fateful day during the hot summertime for him to die due to over heating from over exertion. Stupid idiot! Dogs in general run a higher temperature than humans, so be careful not to overdo it with your animal. Remember, all they want to do is please you, so you need to know when its time to quit. YOU NEED TO KNOW WHEN IT'S TIME TO MAKE THAT COMMAND DECISION! Remember, you are the pack leader, you are the alpha.

I'm fostering what I believe is either a Dogo/Pit mix or simply a non-purebred/non-standard Dogo: He's got too much black and his snout is a bit too short. Other than that, he SEEMS to be Dogo through and through. He follows me from room to room with goo goo eyes, can't get enough cuddles, belly rubs, and pets, and of course is very smart. Oh, and he's friendly with guests, but barks when strangers (meter man) are on the property. The only problem? The neighbor's cat who used to come visit my back yard almost daily has not been by since this Dogo mix moved in with me.
Once you have an Argentine dogo you don't want another breed. they need exercise . They are clean , loyal, inteligent and sweet. in the wrong hands if people train them to fight with other dogs they can be dangerous because they are prowerful.

Hey! I have a Dogo that was given to me off the street at 4 weeks old a year ago. I am not sure what I should be feeding him and it seems like he needs an advanced diet. I also love this dog more than myself lol so I really need him to live for as long as possible. Any suggestions or tips of what I should be doing?
@@pixiedust5239 If you can afford to give your dog 100% raw diet, do so. It's the best diet, no questions asked. That being said, I know not everyone can afford to give their dogs 100% raw. My second recommendation. Get your dog high quality kibble, mixed with raw diet. That way there won't be any nutrition gaps. So 50% kibble, 50% raw. Most of the time I give my dog 50/50. But the days I work him out hard, he gets all 100% raw. Please keep in mind, there is good kibble out there and there is bad kibble. The bags of high/good quality kibble I get my dog that he seems to really enjoy eating are... PetKind Beef Green Tripe Formula and Earthborn Holistic Coastal Catch. Please keep in mind, I always mix raw with the kibble. If money isn't a problem for you, then I suggest just giving your dog 100% Raw. Now the raw I give my dog is the following.... WHITE MEAT: (CHICKEN LEGS/DRUMBSTICKS) (Turkey neck) (Duck) (Rabbit) Organs--- Chicken Gizzards RED MEAT: (Lean Ground Beef) (Boneless Pork chops ) (Lamb Chops) Viggies ---> Carrots and Broccoli. There's other veggies you can give your dog, but mine seems to only enjoy carrots and broccoli. For my dog I cook the Broccoli. and he eats raw baby carrots. Raw Egg, you can boil egg if you want. (no shell) - Coconut oil and or actual coconut - Goats milk- - Green Tripe If you can find actual raw green tripe, GREAT. A lot of benefits comes with that. Once in a while I'll give my dog salmon and or tuna. If you have more questions, you can ask me, not a problem. Also, if you have Instagram, I can recommend you a page , and you can also ask them questions.. They are very informative. one last thing... before you give your dog meat or fish... FREEZE ALL THE MEAT & FISH FOR 3 WEEKS. Doing that kills off all the bacteria/germs that can be found in the meat.
Is the Dogo Agerntino more unstable than other powerful dogs like Cane Corso, Pitbull, Boer Boel... is it a bigger risk to have a Dogo Argentino around children or other dogs of the same sex compared to the other breeds? or what is the truth?
Depends on the bloodline and individual dog. Not all dogos are unstable as the same could be said for cane corsos. I will say these dogs have more energy in general than cane corsos.
Recommendation please. I want a baby sitter, home/property protector, and if I can't find my kids a dog to track them down fast. Pitt bulls have been the only breed I've owned. Been checking out Dogo's , Rottweiler, & that south African mastiff boe... something
@@bthanhim I have the welfare of your son/Daughter in my head,so take my advice. Dogo Argentinos are more reliable than pitbulls when it comes to getting along with kids. The order is 1)GSD 2)Dogo Argentino 3)Cane Corso The following dog breeds are worse with kids 1) Rotweilers 2) Pitbulls 3) Dobermans 4) Bully kuttas
I have a Doberman and a Dogo Argentino. The Doberman is a bit more rangy, we live in the country and don't need to tie them up, so she is often patrolling around, and while on a walk she will run ahead and do a loop of about 50-100m and then appear back by our side. We did not train her to do this, but she seems to have understood the property boundaries and patrols them on her own. She is EXTREMELY intuitive, especially towards my personal feelings towards people, and she can read and act accordingly to peoples intentions when they come to visit. She is an amazing dog and extremely loyal and intelligent. She doesn't have much interest in getting attention from newcomers, she will check them out and doesn't mind to be petted, but she seems to care less, she will either go back on her constant patrol or sit by our feet. She seems to be loyal to just my wife and i although we're building a resort so we have a lot of employees on site, she doesn't care. The dogo is different. He is extremely loyal, he literally sticks to our sides, he does like to get attention from all comers, but he will return to our side and performs "heel" at all times. He doesn't need a leash. He can be gentle around small children, but we havent had a child yet so we don't know what he'll do, but he's the sweetest dog i've ever met, always waiting to please, always smiling, and now that he is getting more mature and we have included plenty of treats and been more consistent in our training, his level of patience and obedience is top notch. The one thing i can say is that if you do get one, i think it's important to treat him like a full sized dogo even when he's a cute 10lb little guy. because our dogo has not noticed that he now weighs 100lbs, so he wants to come sit on our laps, or sometimes when playing, he can use his paws and they always leave a mark. But that is likely because when he was small, we treated him as such, and then he grew up and he didn't seem to notice. I have literally seen him walk through a 3mm plywood wall. So to conclude, i could never say anything bad about the dogo, he's the most lovable dog ever, and he's got a lot of character, which is very funny, but he also has a "super dogo" mode when he gets serious about something, just like this documentary said, his posture will change and his focus is unmatched. If that were turned towards a person trying to hurt your children, they would have no success if the dogo was still alive. he has stamina and focus that is unmatched. But just guessing from what you described you wanted, i would recommend the doberman. The one i have is extremely sensitive to all moods and situations, and acts accordingly. If for example your kids were off somewhere and needed some sort of assistance, i'd put it to the doberman to figure out they needed to come get you and lead you back. Whereas the dogo would stay with your kids until the end of time. I wanted the same thing in a dog, i've got some unique living conditions, and i have had a few years to see what the dogs are like, and you can't lose. Oh, the dogo sheds a ton but the doberman barely sheds at all. Get one of each!!
really good documentary! good information and history, really well done! * if a dog is agressive of bad in behaviour, dont kill the dog.. kill the bad owner because a dog is never bad, its made bad!*
yeah , now my dogo's eyes are almost more or less black though. i have a doberman as well, and it's obvious that the doberman's vision is better, i don't' know if that's just my dog or all of them though. just saying....also mine got a huge bone growth on his forehead at like 10 weeks, but apparently it happens more or less bcse they grow so fast...soon enough ,the rest of his head caught up with it, but for a while it looked like a big tumor...
So Core - Dogos are known for having certain genetic faults just like all pure bred dogs, however, your dogo should have perfect eyesight which is important for hunting and taking down large animals. It may just have bad eyesight so keep an eye on it and consult a vet.
The Cordoba Dog was die ultimate fighting dog. It was a good thing it died out. The Dogo is a great thing their good geenes will live vorever. It is inhuman to breed animals only to fight for Fun like it was with the Cordoba Dog. Why, in Cordoba, Argentina some of the best Knife Fighter of that Planet Life and lived. I adore you as German Mensur Fencer. It is no honor to let animals fight. It is Honor when Humans fight.
If there is one specific area of development I would of considered adapting to the breed is the gate to full out run not to mimic a large Mastiff considering a canine in excess of 100lbs. The Irish wolf hound was to add this speed & not a gallop. The size & power is maintained but the speed & grace is perfected. Not all hunting is restricted to wild boar even if your intentions entering the hunt is too seek such prey. The puma which is also recognized as hunted by the dogo is benefitted more so with Grace & speed & as with many reports on farms garding livestock the first & foremost coyote & wolf become priority as a defense of property than a hunting trip for boar. Such a canine with defined muscle, sleek skin, & full bodies in balance should have no issues hitting nearly 40 mph in short sustainable burst. In many instances both coyotes & Wolf's will use a female often in heat or seemingly very playful luring the dogo to roam outside it's defense capabilities only to find the balance of the pack of coyotes & wolf's waiting to kill & devour this breed. Both wild dogs can exceed 40 mph & in most cases the gallop will end this canine in tragedy. This dog looks restrained in full gallop where it would appear better served with the grace of the Irish wolfhounds speed, strength & balance of power. I wonder if another 25+ years from now the suptle changes which will occurred leads us to see these noticeable changes. Thanks. I welcome experienced replies for educational perspectives & wonder if anyone knows the original gate to full Sprint of the original first dogo resembling the recognized dogo Argentina of today. Thanks again.
blastboysMO dogo is one of the top 10 goodlooking dogsBut my favorite dog in terms of appearance is the Tibetan mastiff. Dogo is really an aesthetically good looking dog but it would have been better if it is brindle black or blue color not white.
It's been recognized that a black nose & bottom lips are preferably black lined. Pink nose or other than black is a fault. Arguments over clipping ears for standards was more for fighting than a natural look. Many large breeds such as Mastiff do not all clip the ears & I'm surprised the tails aren't docked for like manner standards since many larger Mastiff breeds are as well. We need to let natural breeder traits become confirmed instead of finding faults with man's obsession with what he prefers for fighting, hunting, etc. As an example, take the Akita & his background of dog breeds to perfect a extremely sound, loyal, & loving family dog that will quickly without hesitation give it's life for it's owner & grieve @ the very loss! Yet no ear trimming or tail docking would do it anything but injustice. Let's think of our man's best friend first before we let others declare what standard he/she must appear to become AKC or any other qualified to call it by name. Be blessed.
This is not the pinnacle of breeding. The American Pitbull terrier however is. No dog can whip a game APBT, period. Not a cane Corso, a doggo...nothing. it's quite obvious the APBT was used to make this dog.
Dogos are an okay breed. But I have to say that the American Pitbull is second to none when it comes to competition, taking on large animals, and battling against other dogs. I've seen some people on the internet that think that dogos are tougher, stronger, and better at combat than American Pitbulls just because of their size. But we have to face the reality as to why the American Pitbull is the top dog for combat and strength sports like weight pulling and dogos are not.
I've seen a hog hunt where the hunter used both APBTs and Dogos. The APBTs cornered the boar and harassed it, they were small and agile enough to avoid its tusks while getting in some good bites. But when the Dogo came in, the boar got shut down immediately.
Weirdanimalboy 😂😂😂 Pitbull can get killed by many dog breeds like Mastiff and Kangal who have bite force of 600+ whereas pitbull have 200-240 psi ....A mastiff can crush the skull of pitbull easily
Weirdanimalboy dogo argentino is stronger than all the others dogs. Dogo Argentino is the Lord of the dogs. If you get good information you will notice that
That may look unhumane but it helps with bactery infections and make harder for the pig to bite the ear.....no animal thats part of the canidae family has laid down ears, we creatted them via artificial selection to use on dogs that need to track a scent cause we need them able to focuse on the nose only and not on their ear..... that said i dont get why people crop tails.... it makes harder for dogs to make turns, the tail is like a natural ship's rudder

WHITE MEAT: (CHICKEN LEGS/DRUMBSTICKS) (Turkey neck) (Duck) (Rabbit)
Organs--- Chicken Gizzards
RED MEAT: (Lean Ground Beef) (Boneless Pork chops ) (Lamb Chops)
Viggies ---> Carrots and Broccoli.

Is the best doggy on the word from cordoba
Don't know the last dog-encyclopedia if the, Dogo is here the current issue do have simply fly down to Argentina?
I live in PA and went to Texas to get mine.
I lost it at "Bitches normally have 10 puppies"
Keven Michael 😂😂😂😂
Larger dogs normally have larger litters.
they say 6-9. why would ten be out of the ordinary? maybe you have no idea what you're talking about?
Is the Dogo Agerntino more unstable than other powerful dogs like Cane Corso, Pitbull, Boer Boel... is it a bigger risk to have a Dogo Argentino around children or other dogs of the same sex compared to the other breeds? or what is the truth?
Depends on the bloodline and individual dog. Not all dogos are unstable as the same could be said for cane corsos. I will say these dogs have more energy in general than cane corsos.
He was killes on a hunt??????
By who or what animal killed him?
He hunts wathogs and cougars ( mountain lions type , 60/80 kilos ) . This breed Is more mentally strongest than your muscles and bite .
I thought thy all had blue eyes great info now i know!
Good one - Dogo Argentino
They can live with cats!!
We have 6 cats.
she loves them..(mostly)😅
Recommendation please. I want a baby sitter, home/property protector, and if I can't find my kids a dog to track them down fast. Pitt bulls have been the only breed I've owned. Been checking out Dogo's , Rottweiler, & that south African mastiff boe... something
Try Gsds.
@@ArtificialgeneralInteligence I hate the long coat.
@@bthanhim Yeah, even the short coat ones shed a lot in GSDs. But they are the best dogs with kids.
@@bthanhim I have the welfare of your son/Daughter in my head,so take my advice. Dogo Argentinos are more reliable than pitbulls when it comes to getting along with kids. The order is
1)GSD
2)Dogo Argentino
3)Cane Corso
The following dog breeds are worse with kids
1) Rotweilers
2) Pitbulls
3) Dobermans
4) Bully kuttas
Get one of each!!
is not Chobut it is Chubut
really good documentary! good information and history, really well done! * if a dog is agressive of bad in behaviour, dont kill the dog.. kill the bad owner because a dog is never bad, its made bad!*
Male Dogos tends to be aggressive towards other males even if well trained.
Q. Inquiry minds would like to where can u get a #DA-pup here the states.
You can try DC Dogos. There are quite a few in Texas that need good homes too.
Is it normal for Dogo Argentino puppy of 6,5weeks to have dark grey bluish eyes?
yeah , now my dogo's eyes are almost more or less black though. i have a doberman as well, and it's obvious that the doberman's vision is better, i don't' know if that's just my dog or all of them though. just saying....also mine got a huge bone growth on his forehead at like 10 weeks, but apparently it happens more or less bcse they grow so fast...soon enough ,the rest of his head caught up with it, but for a while it looked like a big tumor...
So Core - Dogos are known for having certain genetic faults just like all pure bred dogs, however, your dogo should have perfect eyesight which is important for hunting and taking down large animals. It may just have bad eyesight so keep an eye on it and consult a vet.
No black marking in its coat has many on its body love my 10 month old
The Cordoba Dog was die ultimate fighting dog.

Syrian Boss got to see your dog in the bushes while it's hunting
Wow
I would like a hunting partner one day, one day when I have more space I will buy one.
Not true.
They do just fine on no plant fats whatsoever.

Jenish Roks You don't measure bite force in psi. Going by that a squirrel has more bite force psi than a Kangal.
Weirdanimalboy dogo argentino is stronger than all the others dogs. Dogo Argentino is the Lord of the dogs. If you get good information you will notice that
is not a mastif
Chuqui Rius argentine mastiff....
One of four illegal breeds in the UK
The U.K. Is a damn police state! Can't have anything over there.
Why do some cut the ears way too short looks ugly
that dogs ears have been butchered
That may look unhumane but it helps with bactery infections and make harder for the pig to bite the ear.....no animal thats part of the canidae family has laid down ears, we creatted them via artificial selection to use on dogs that need to track a scent cause we need them able to focuse on the nose only and not on their ear..... that said i dont get why people crop tails.... it makes harder for dogs to make turns, the tail is like a natural ship's rudder
So we are kinda fixing a deformation that make the dog less practical
Totally agree. My DOGO s ears are natural.
Dogo are banned here in bc
No they are not
No human being should ever want to own a dog breed like this. It's a dangerous animal.
jimipurple123 then guess what dont own 1 thats your right. My right is to own 1 if i want 1. They are dangerous if youre soft and not a alpha.
