I'm really liking this direction for your channel. For a long time I've had an issue with "filmmaking" UA-camrs, that i've just reviewed random equipment, or shown you ways to be better UA-camrs. There are very few that actually show you useful tips that can be used in filmmaking outside of UA-cam, or with equipment you might actually have. Keep it up.
This is an awesome video Matti 👏🏻
I always use one hard led light as a rimlight and my window as a keylight for my tutorials.
Since the computer is in the way I can't place more lights in front unfortunately
I believe there is some small leds you can place on top of your Monitor
@@AgainstYourRules yeah you're right.
I even have one of those.
That might help. Thank you for reminding me 🫶🏻
Amazing to see how your channel has continued to evolve as you have in your filmmaking journey. Lighting breakdowns are incredibly helpful, especially the tips/tricks to achieve certain looks without needing to buy expensive equipment. Can't wait to see more!
Am a filmmaker with no camera , but with everything. I really have stories to tell, and I love your ( learn, make, repeat ). Much love from Uganda 🇺🇬.
This feels like an old Travel Feels vid. I love it!!!
I'm having a ton of fun trying new things... the little things add up and make a difference. It's so cool how the subtle end product changes
Thanks for this Matti. I just bought my first lights this week along with some soft boxes. Very helpful to know there are no rules and you can do whatever you want to get the look you want. I'm a complete novice and this video hit right on time.
Never ceases to amaze me what it takes to make a video look "natural". Great video as usual, thanks!
I'll give my appreciation here so we can have more awesome light videos like this 😁
The warm look is the best. Pretty natural and not so sourcy like the other ones. Also great color contrast.
Awesome. Loving these cinema looks on lighting 🙌
I see SOOOO many UA-camr's who cover "cinematic lighting" of a single subject... it's useful stuff (especially for beginners) but there are SO many good examples already out there. Even once that are "on a budget" or "using only 1 light" or "using only natural light". However, I've yet to see any really great videos out there by similar UA-camrs on how to light TWO (or more) subjects in the same frame and maintain that same degree of "cinematic quality" (be-it on a budget, one light, or whatever). I find lighting a single subject a breeze and I think most people who watch you probably do as well. I'd really love to see you do a multi subject lighting tutorial. Whether it's a "piece to camera" setup, a dialogue scene, or something else... I'd just really love to see it. Anyways, good video Matti.
Sweet video!! When the wall colour's no bueno... a reflective umbrella (43 inch, even up to 72 inch) Can take the place of a wall for bounce. Gives you a bit more flexibility with light placement too. 👍
Thanks, Matti, it's always good to be reminded that not having a huge budget for gear isn't an excuse for not doing "stuff". It's really easy to always say, I would if I had, but this is a good demo that when it comes to lighting you can do things with not much.
Great video Matti!
Still waithing the jackets. The winter is coming!😃😃😃
Art meets Science!
The way you use it, isn't really negative fill. It's just flagging the light of. Negative fill is when there is a lot of ambient bounce light from the room you want to get rid of.
Really cool and fun!! thanks.
big fan of these videos and the direction you're going with these! Could be cool to do an outdoor lighting setup next?
more of these please!
Thanks Matti great info.
Good one. Like the old Matti
Thank you so much for this! Love this new series about lighting. Any chances you might make a video about LIGHTS? continuous / strobes, Led / tungsten, etc... pro level or consumer level... Would love your perspective on this!
when you said this to this, I as like what you mean.. both this and this looks equally good
Oh that’s really cool
This was very helpful. I enjoyed this video
Recently forgot to pack diffusion and negative fill n a shoot. Ran to Walmart and picked up some black fabric.
Your a master 🙏💯 thanks for sharing your process homie, its always cool to see what your working on 🔥🔥 biggest takeaway from this video " there are no rules" 😂❤️
Great video! Thanks! One question, how can you avoid getting that horizontal line that keeps running down during the video, just above the tubes (on your right). Is that flickering?
Cool!✌️
im glad you are also doing it with before and after with the Arri, i mean even having a Pro Cinemagrade Camera lighting is still importan.
@mattih love this step-by-step tutorial. Another super helpful video, thank you! Curious if you noticed the strobing above the light bars around 8:03 - is that from them or something else in the background? Maybe from shutter speed/angle?
💯💯
I would like to see more about Matti’s Shoes in this video 😁😎
I love this Matti! I know I changed my profile pic, sorry. lol. I actually have a quick question though. Would you still recommend Sony to a beginner like me? I film on my phone but want to get more into it. Thanks for the great video!!!!!
Hey Matti could you make black and white tutorial please 👍
the good old days
Quick tip: i know white equippement can look cool. But when you're shooting into a window you'll be able to see the reflection of the lamp much clearer. The same with camera's. Get yourself some black gear and safe yourself some reflection trouble ;)
I have been able to step up my video production thanks to Nanlite. They are so kind and support small creators and I am so grateful. I am starting my narrative and short film work and without lights... I wouldn't be able to even try and look "cinematic"
❤❤❤❤❤ 🤛🏾
I like the new director look you're going for with the hair and baseball cap, but you need a longer beard complete it 😃
Info on the mic plugged into the Zoom F3???
Next video idea💡: How I export my settings on UA-cam 2023 version with my Arri and Sony equipment clips.
I swear I was just searching for cinematography lightning for beginners and you just popped up with this video hahaha. Thank you so much!!!
First! I actually have a new light coming today!
Those vid feels very ad hoc.. but in a good way. 🤓
I looked around the house , but did not find one of those giant white lights?
Anyone know the difference between the white/gray Amaran 300c? It can't just be the color? There's a significant price difference.
Step 3 see if you have an arri laying around 😆😋
Anamorphic lens in the beginning or i am wrong
That color-corrected warm lighting made you jump off the screen!
is it just me or those ultra wide format frames look kinda too much halation and bloom effect(blurred vibes) even if watch at 4K.
the bts shots are fine and in high quality though.
Now do it with ACTUALLY cheap stuff (Loved the tips tho)
Your aperture is messing with your frequency. You have rolling banding.
Oh man those fake hands hanging on the board on the wall there 😂
First comment? :)
for youtube video used ARRI 😂. #nooverkill
there is a wrong way to light, there are just many ways to light well.
"Done Easy And Cheap"....?
doesn't look very good.... lol looks better than mine at peak!
No hate, but a real Dp/Gaffer would explain what you did a thousand times better
Nothing here is actually cheap (including that 300c) like for real, even those stands are quite expensive
This is the UA-camr filmmaker type of thing, do better :)
