I know; if any Doctor Who characters deserve a spin-off, it's the Paternoster Gang. Just the character development of Strax would be an opportunity for real depth; how does a member of one of the Doctor's worst enemies wind up becoming a loyal associate and friend? That's a story worth telling.

Back then some actors spend 6 hours (3 to put it on and 3 to strip it, some even more) every shooting day in front of a makeup artist to achieve the proper look. So if they could do it back then it should be possible nowadays as well.

Y'know I come back to this video and agree with everyone on the humourous nature of Strax, his sometimes tunnel vision and warlike approach to problems, but there is something else I think about as well. At the bed of the day if you are in a hairy situation then having Strax at your back is a real great comfort. He's a sontaran so experience with war and combat is probably second nature and he is an excellent medic/nurse. Also the unstated factor that I believe Strax is one of the most loyal side companions of the whole show. He may brag about his great race and their empire, but I think he really enjoys being around Jenny and Vastra. Strax has no reason to fully gear up to rescue them but he does it because those are the people he cares for and he would fight through hell itself to bring them back.

He's a sontaran so experience with war and combat is probably second nature and he is an excellent medic/nurse. Also the unstated factor that I believe Strax is one of the most loyal side companions of the whole show. He may brag about his great race and their empire, but I think he really enjoys being around Jenny and Vastra.
Strax has no reason to fully gear up to rescue them but he does it because those are the people he cares for and he would fight through hell itself to bring them back.
