Until then I really recommend you all listen to Big Finish Audio's Patenostra Gang series - very good fun, fleshes out each of the iconic trio, Strax has brilliant lines. "Do not panic, human scum!" Being constantly compelled to act contrary to his instincts and training is incredibly stressful. Strax's regression to a more childlike state is a way of coping with that stress. 'good kids' don't have to think for themselves, they just have to do what their parents tell them to do. Some would say that's a very liberating feeling; if you don't think, if you don't choose, then you cannot make a bad choice.

The Beeb, as it's known in the UK missed a big opportunity for a great spin-off series with the Paternoster Gang. It is also a crying shame they never got the chance to accompany the Dr as companions for a while, their addition would have been comedic gold, they would have added a level of physicality to the show. It would be great if the Beeb would do a Dr Who series with the Dr played by Jo Martin, with the Paternoster gang as her companions. A chance to revive the series to its former greatness. :)
all of them are a bit too violent for the doctors liking, strax is a warrior, who threatens people, granted a nurse to knock the doctor out would be good, and it would also allow them to be called, the doctor and the nurse, and vastra would never leave jenny, and both of them would probably kill someone at some point, which most of the doctors wouldnt approve of
@@foethefox793 even though the Doctor has let people kill before… for instance, Jackie and Mickey blowing up a Slitheen, the deaths of the Cybus Industries Cybermen on the parallel world, to name a couple. The whole “no killing” thing is a teeny bit hit and miss as far as what the Doctor allows.
I imagine it wouldn't get made for logistical reasons, having to have them in those prosthetics and the effects for an entire seasons worth of filming would likely be too costly and also impractical and uncomfortable for the actors just for a spin off. The great Audio series we did get is enough for me, it's fantastic.

So Vastra was alone at some point because everyone else was killed so she started killing and eating the humans but the Doctor appeared and he helped her. He changed her and now Vastra is even in love with a human. Vastra only eats humans who do unspeakable things to innocent people for their own pleasure and she solves crimes. She kinda does what the doctor does but with less sympathy for “bad people”.
Vastra is iconic. I met Neve McIntosh once at the Chicago TARDIS convention. Got a picture with her. She’s really funny. Her personality is nothing like Vastra’s. Which is a credit to her acting skills.
