These new Rokits with the Kevlar woofer and tweeter are awesome sounding. One of the best 2 way monitor speakers I ever heard was in a very wealthy guy's home studio, and he had an older pair of KRK's with the Kevlar woofer and Focal inverted dome Kevalr tweeter. They were AMAZINGLY natural and musical, balanced, punchy, and dynamic, and crystal clear and crisp, always staying composed and refined on top, without ever sounding harsh or shrill, even at high levels. Superb monitors that rival any at any price.
Hi there Z, i checked them out a while ago, and i found that the 7’s had a very audible hiss going. Both speakers. And the fact of the matter is more consumers who bought them experience the exact same thing. I tried different cables, and wall outlets etc. But the hiss was always there from the moment the speaker turns on. The settings on the back like lowering the high end or lowering the output gain did not change anything to the audible hiss. I sent mine back, for producing this airy hiss is simply unacceptable. Its not a top of the line speaker but for a monitor brand like krk and this being their latest and greatest this is not ok. The sound is indeed much better than the old g3’s and you can feel they are more powerful, but this hiss for me is just a big big nono. Thx for your review Z love you bro. Hiss is clearly audible at 1,5 meters in the triangle at the desk, up close it is even more crazy loud the hiss. Once you hear it you cannot unhear it. But if you dont hear it please tell us that they have fixed it. Then i will buy a fresh pair.
I hear hiss when I am close. Like under 3' from them in a silent environment. So definitely not the best in terms of noise floor. Sorry I didn't hark on this a bit more in the video. So, the digital interface is cool and I wouldn’t take it away from anyone, but it’s annoyingly complicated to blind users like me. Having ruled the Gen 4 5s out on that basis it was a toss-up between the Classic 5s (with old school knobs) and the less well-known PreSonus Eris 5s, which immediately sounded better to me for studio work. Maybe the classics were based on the Gen 3 Z hated on, because they were definitely all about the bass. Anyway though I didn’t choose them, the classic KRKs did have a cool feature, which was that the knobs clicked through their positions, so by counting clicks you could match settings much more easily than with the PreSonus. Also, contrast and light controls on the Gen 4 are great for someone with partial vision. Maybe by the Gen 5s they’ll have an app, at which point I’d definitely consider them again. Ultimately as more and more tech transitions to pointless and impossible touch screens I’m glad both pro audio and hifi people still often want analogue style controls. For many it’s aesthetic or ideological, for me it makes life a lot simpler.
I tried the 5 inch gen 4's, and they aren't that good. No dynamics, and pretty flat sounding (not in EQ but in presentation). Presonus Eris E5XT, and JBL 305's beat them easily, and are the best in that 5" class/price range.
@@Uuur10 - I compared several sets of 5" speakers for my project studio room. Extensive testing. JBL 305, Eris E5 (XT & Non-XT), Adam TV5, KRK (Gen3 & Gen4), Mackie (MR5 & CR-X). The Gen 4's were my least favorite. I even liked the Gen 3 & CR-X better. No bueno.
Gosh I would never have time for that. Define "beat them easily"? Based on what? I don't have golden ears and go by measurements exclusively. The 5s have near textbook perfect measurements (as tested by Audio Science Review). I paid $300 for the pair and now have hundreds of hours of listening time on them. They've given me flawless sound all this time.
@@Uuur10 - Dynamics, alone. When mixing music, you need to hear dynamic range so you can set your compressors, clippers, and limiters right (not to mention EQ also affects this behavior). The other speakers reproduced dynamic variance better than the Gen 4. Thr Eris E5XT and JBL 305's were the best and most well rounded out of the 5" speakers I tried. Measurements don't always tell the whole story. - I'm using Kali LP6's in that room atm, but if I were to go back to 5" speakers, it would be the Eris E5XT (due to front port, excellent extension, dynamics, and treble resolution).
I get you're an 'audiophile'. But please for the life of god, as someone with a Masters of Science in acoustics including loudspeaker design, please don't orientate loudspeakers in such a weird way. Loudspeakers are designed typically to be orientated in a specific way. Generally in this orientation you will get far more comb filtering and reflections from your desk with higher frequencies. Not least, the speakers look very low in relation to your ears and the on-axis point of the loudspeakers. (This is typically between the tweeter and driver, and not usually but occasionally may be at the level of the tweeter itself).

The kef are probably too smooth sounding combined with some reduced width, so it could be that details aren't as readily discernable, despite still being there.
Review the 8402s
They have a freaking screen?!
The white ones look like Minions
I have Presonus Eris 5s and one 8 inch sub and one 12 inch sub.
Tweeter/woofer at your ears is exactly not an issue with Kefs.
I sent my g4 5 inch krks, and went Adams audio t8vs. krk are not my cup of tea.
The classic deejaying monitors.
Turn them on there side FFS cone's are the same height ,dude...
Yeah but then you have cancellation issues if you are even slightly off axis.
I personally love the white KRKs lol
krk 8402 please
I was expecting more from megalobox. maybe just spoiled by cowboy beebop.
Megalobox is Rocky 1-4 but with a better story and characters and music. MB2 is something else entirely.
I tried the 5 inch gen 4's, and they aren't that good. No dynamics, and pretty flat sounding (not in EQ but in presentation). Presonus Eris E5XT, and JBL 305's beat them easily, and are the best in that 5" class/price range.
The 7 are where these start to get good. The 5 is only for space savings
BS. They are stellar speakers. They measure better than the 305s and aren't noisy like the 305s.
- I'm using Kali LP6's in that room atm, but if I were to go back to 5" speakers, it would be the Eris E5XT (due to front port, excellent extension, dynamics, and treble resolution).
why tf are you placing the speakers like this xD
He starts explaining at 2:40
U must be new here
@@jeremycole2869 Maybe lol. Been watching his videos for about a year I think. I guess sarcasm blows right over my head.

Fingers in port = immediate thumbs up.
ooh, a review I have no reason to watch, nor the money to even buy the product in the first place .

(This is typically between the tweeter and driver, and not usually but occasionally may be at the level of the tweeter itself).
worth noting that our POV is way higher than his, given the camera is sitting above his head and not at eye level.
