"...when u got an 8 inch in a 3 way u have a good time..." 20:20
With that logic the KRK Rokit RP10-3 G4 must be even better then.
It has a 10 inch woofer.
@@behappybevegan mine was a sexual innuendo....
Gotta love Z's passive comidy....lol
Just got to this part and had to make sure there was a comment 👍
@@matteobregante5656 Damn my dirty mind was was malfunctioning.
Still I guess reven in that case 10 inch is better then 8 inch.
Finally a speaker that can be bought
When the wallpaper is amazing you know he loves the product on the review. an Daaaaamn that wallpaper.
Me, a Kali LP-6 owner:
"Uh oh, here I go simping again."
im seriously considering a pair of lp6s. are you happy with em? whats your setup?
@@fehmiugurunal i also got them! I use them with an SSL2 interface, working FL and ProTools. They are absolutely insane. Definitely recommend it to anyone.
@@fehmiugurunal I own them also, super happy... go get them, you won't be sorry!
Looking at the new IN-8 V2. Supposed to be great improvements. I bet these are great for mixing in a studio.
I'm way late answering the question, but as a professional mastering engineer, I'm here because 1. I enjoy your reviews. 2. You're often the first to have a review on a particular speaker. 3. I'm not just a mastering engineer, I enjoy listening to music as well. I have my mastering studio, here in my house, and that room is a dedicated, specifically-designed and built space, that's dead-nuts flat and images like a hologram, but I also have a living room.... and a workshop... and an art studio space, and I don't want to always spend car-money on extremely highly neutral monitors that aren't particularly fun... in those other spaces, I want fun and excitement. These two qualities (accurate and fun) are almost always mutually exclusive, except for perhaps Dutch & Dutch and Kii.
It was fun to revisit this review, I have these and the JBL 308's with an SVS 3000. I record/mix bands pretty often as well as video production and it's been a great time. I think I still favor the 308's for imaging, but these Kali's do a great job at identifying issues in midrange, especially when doing surgical EQ cuts. Like there are so many choices in regards to monitors for mixing, I've experienced Genelecs and many other set ups, these are right up there as far as TRUSTING that the mix will translate.
Also, I still recommend a sub with them though as it will surely give some confidence that everything in the low end is as organized as the rest of the frequency spectrum and not just hatefucking normal set ups. lol
that closeness you mentioned is something i noticed with most bookshelf speakers. They generally simply sound better when playing at the proper volume/distance. Why my miccas on my desk have destroyed speakers 10x the price but those speakers were in my living room. my living room needed towers and a sub to match scale and detail.
Great review...very indepth! This was like reading the manual but more fun :) Do people even read manuals anymore though...lol. Great job on your video :)
not worried about room treatment anymore after seeing Zeos. room treatment .coool 😎
Or lack thereof. LMAO
And how can anyone determine accurate imaging with that huge rack of acoustic nightmare in front and center of the speakers... Wow.
(much less the imbalanced wall of energy absorbing speakers on either side)
But, I digress... I am a pro and just thought I'd throw my own judgment out since he says he wants to judge any pros watching his channel. LOL
Been waiting for this!! Could you do the brand new IN-5s that just came out? I’m thinking about buying them but hardly anyone has reviewed them
You cant go wrong with buying a kali speaker
Missed out on the Swan D300's and was bouncing between the Adam T7V's and the iLoud MTM's. Finally jumped off my wallet yesterday and grabbed the T7V's (and World's Best Cables XLR's), going to be a fun weekend test driving them.
Would you recommend these over the Yamaha HS8s? (Love your channel, thanks for all the great reviews!)
Seeing you use music to describe the equipment gives me a perspective when making music.
Plus, I'm hoping to one day see you review a product that had exaggerated neutrality as well as exaggerated soundstage. My ears are pretty bad and very unequal, so I have no sense of what I'm doing when it comes to width and panning. Or EQ for that matter. I feel like you can kind of tell that through my music. In the next upcoming releases however, things seem to be a tad better!
Also, Erish + HD600 is great. So is DV + HD600
Listening to this on my Kali IN-8's
same
Thank you for being the 1 reviewer who actually explains this stuff to dummies like me.
Hi Zeos, just curious if you have any experience with RCF Studio Monitors. I picked up a pair of the RCF Ayra Pro6 Monitors (Ayra pronounced like Ira not like the youngest Stark girl). I am using them in a very not ideal setup on my dining room table with my iFi Zen (Standard Version) balanced and they are pretty spectacular in IMHO. If you get a chance to review, I would love to hear your thoughts. Keep up the great work! You have effectively entertained me and simultaneously lightened my wallet!! Thank you Zeos!!
So happy you did this review ! I've been saving to get these for a couple years now :) Love my LP-6 pair though !!
Though Amateur, I am both a mix and master and a pleasure listeners. Thank you for this review!
I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder....I like those just fine. They look like they can do some work! But I am a HT guy so...
Too many pretty speakers don't cut the mustard.
exactly.
Im a pro mixer..
haha I like your channel,
you help cut through a lot of the snake oil
Question for Zeos: Are you ever going to review Tannoy speakers? I heard they were really good.
I like the way they look, they look like the speakers Darth Vader would have. They're kick-ass Empire technology.
Great video, I've been looking at these and the IN5. They completely redesigned the power amp and got the self-noise down 12 decibels, because the previous LP8s were said to have a bit of hiss that was noticeable all the time. What are those pucks that you have underneath the IN8s? Do they work well for decoupling?
Thanks 👍🏻
I've owned two Behringer B2031A's as my main speakers for a decade and am probably finally looking to get an upgrade. Looking at these. The Behringers sound surprisingly good to my ears. They are an old Genelec design mass produced by this Chinese company that makes everything, but they ended up accidentally making decent speakers. They have annoying GREEN leds, though.
Agreed on blue LEDs..white are passable. I prefer red and have modded my Darkvoice for this.
I would have to agree, the manufacturer should really facilitate easy-color-choice of the LEDs, for the user, who might just have hyper-sensitivity to certain colors. This would be far, far more useful than offering stupid gaming-soundcards, with RGB lighting!
Shoutout for the G Man quote @ 7:45!
I'm thinking about buying these along with the sub. Like you, I love the JBL Studio 5 series and have all but the 580's. Do these Kali's cast that giant sound stage comparable to the JBL's? I'm looking for a nice set of studio monitors, but I also want to listen for pleasure.
I just purchased the LP-6 in white for a new home studio setup. I'm a little behind the times. I just couldn't meme myself with the Rokit's and the JBL's gloss black take ugly to a whole new level. Of course, after my purchase I see the JBL's are now offered in white too but I'm just going to ignore that.
Use a DAC with a volume control. :-) If you want to mess around with the signal you can insert a miniDSP between dac and monitors.
Maybe they'll put out a white version (like in the LP6) There is enough demand for it.
The speakers won't blow if you overdrive them. (they are protected) But your inner ear probably will. :-)
It can handle pretty big rooms but not HUGE venues. They're MONITORS.
Z Reviews do you think these are better than the Swans M300 mk2’s?
So glad I heard that bit of the Devilman Crybaby soundtrack, listened to it on Qobuz and its pretty great. Never heard of the show.
Do you still recommend the iLoud MTM´s?
Zeos, have you listened to the Genelec 8030c's?
I was considering these but went with the Swan M3A’s instead. I have a Schitt SYS that I would have used for volume and to connect two components. Also a Loki in case I needed eq.
So?They sound as hyped from Z?I don't think so! Swans are ok,but not great!
I would really like to hear you take on the KRK RP10-3 G4 and the Tannoy Gold 8
Those two have the looks, as for the KRK, that's a 10 inch 3 way 😉
I’ve owned the Presonus Sceptre S8 and KRK 10-3, and have A-B tested them against the Kali IN-8 gen1.I’ve also tested the Sceptre S8 against the vastly more expensive Genelec 8351b - and would happily keep the S8, all things considered. The KRK 10-3 are in a very different league to the rest of the 2-way Rokit range, and don’t get nearly enough praise. They're very good.BUT - the Kali IN-8 is a real game-changer. They're super-clean, open and well-balanced, and have superior midrange purity over the others - and that’s just the 2021 first-gen model!
I'd love to see you review the Yamaha HS 8's. Or any of the HS for that matter.
He has
@Z - The for the ultimate question = Sound wise for music first, then movies - Klipsch Nines or the Kaili IN-8's? - Watched both of your reviews on these and I did not hear you make any comparisons. Thanks
It would be great if you could review a pair of Focal Solo6 Be sometime.
How do these compare to the iloud MTM that you reviewed?
Ever thought about doing room acoustics? will make a mammoth difference to how you review things
Would you recommend them for desktop listening through Spotify?
Do the blue risers at the base of the speakers/top of the stand serve an auditory purpose?
Lol. Hobbyist mastering engineer/EDM producer here. I need a solid PC and home theater setup, don't know consumer junk, and I liek your attitude. That's why I'm here.
How about Genelec 8020 which is less than $1100 for a pair?
Sir, Will you be reviewing THX Onyx?
I looked up Kali Audio. What showed up was Kali Muscle!
So you have to buy 2 speakers, a dac control unit and wires and you can only do 2 speaker stereo. I'm sure it's worth it but I don't think I want to make a $1200+ investment on all new gear. I might look at the goldenear bpx or tekton uruz. I'm generally not the biggest fan of powered speakers because they will break down at some point. But I think these are cool and I'd love to hear them. Thanks Zeos!
Considering these or the Focal Alpha 80 evo's. Any thoughts?
would love for you to test the event opal's...
I think you have to revisit some of the speakers you review in your old apartment because your new basement would make them sound way different. Plz if you do start with my baby's the s3000pro from Edifier. And now I'm going to fucking blow up my credit card and buy this monitors and see what's what. Thax for the content sir, i love it.
The megadeth of speakers companies!!
I'm basically the Dave Mustaine of professional audio.
@@kaliaudio yeah!
@@kaliaudio love your LP-6s! Thank you for making them 🙏
The IN-8's are FANTASTIC. Clean, natural, flat, with midrange purity to rival monitors at many, many times the price. They're a game-changer.
Had to come down and Comment, I was listening to this video on cheap akg tuned earbuds that came with the galaxy s9, and when those monitors started playing wired it made them produce bass tones I didn't think They could. I opened my amazon music and found the song and played it and it sounded about half as good on the same earbuds, I think it's very telling that a re-recording of that from those speakers can get a better sound across than the direct source. I pulled the song up on the Sennheiser 598 Cs that my work purchased as call headsets with modmics and it still barley sounded as good as Z's recording of those speakers did. I'm currently using Creative Labs T30's for PC speakers at home, i've barley used them since I got a modius/magnius stack with Sennheiser HD6xx's about 6 months ago as my intro to HIFI audio, and now I really want these monitors to replace those T30's. And from what I heard I expect I wouldn't be listening to my 6xx's unless I didn't want to bother my wife.
Wait I know somethin! haha. @ 18:00 you say something about ceiling mode makes the treble too high. Well in "spatial acoustics" we have made models of how our brains perceive sound, to ridiculously accurate degrees. Anyway we naturally locate things in 3D space with our ears, if it is louder on the left side we assume it is more on the left side, and our brains can differentiate between L and R and acoustically locate the sound on a horizontal plane. There is a bass/treble bias that our brains account for because our ear lobes reflect sound into our ear canal at different angles depending on the angle it hits. Up in the air is more trebly...or more bassy? I read this a while back and can't remember. But our brains account for a treble or bass shift of a sound and that is how it locates sound in 3D space on the vertical plane. So, long story to say that possibly "Ceiling mode" boosts treble in order to lessen the "speakers are on the ceiling" effect.
Is the Soundstage better on these or T8V
I do enjoy my LP-6's.
Talk to yourself, but you do it so well. :)
Z bro big fan... the looks will grow on you... put money on it... I give you seven months to flip your opinion
I know the price difference is out of this world, but just for fun... how would you compare these IN-8s to the Genelecs 8341 you reviewed a while ago?
also you can put these Kali's sideways as they are coaxial speakers!!
i think all speaker setups should have two frequency cutoffs
"The Kali boys are like, 'Fuck it! We're engineers!'" 😆😂😂
Speculums are a special kind of fun.
if you have an AVR with Pre Outs couldn't you just bypass the need for a DAC and control it like you would any normal speaker in a home theater?
26:03 Damn past Zeos.. Calm down there bud.
They've just made a more powerful Version 2 of these, with lower noise and distortion. Here is a link for more info - ua-cam.com/video/3qB2TS2R2S4/v-deo.html
yes dmx passed away. He will be missed!
Simply purchase 9 of these and 2 subwoofers for a 7.2.2 HC and you will have a perfect soundstage.
I'm not a professional, but I make music that'sss not really that great. I don't have studio monitors but I'm here because I enjoy your videos.
If anyone is curious, you can look up "mannymodeste" on any streaming service and you can find something I made.
@@mannymakesmusic891 listened to your stuff through Deezer. I really enjoyed it; keep it up! Seriously ppl, give these jams a listen
I had a chance to hear them in a store - obviously not an ideal environment.. and I found them boomy and dull, and really not enjoyable to hear music on.
Now, I'm doing some music myself, and I'm aware that these should sound natural and uncolored to be used as honest studio monitors, but, I did hear other professional studio monitor, and they sounded much brighter and more fun for just enjoining music (Adam Ax7, Dynaudio BM5, Focal Alpha and shape etc..)
Since I'm looking for studio monitors to be used for playing my keyboards, but also want my monitors to play music for my enjoinment, what do you think? can these be dialed in my room to be natural yet enjoyable for listening to music?
I really like the design, the fact that they are 3 way, have a dedicated woofer separated from the coaxial mid/tweeter set, have a good separation and a large sweet spot etc... all of these attributes look great on paper, but if the end result is a flat, bass heavy sound which is not pleasing to my ears, they don't worth the very good asked for them.
Did anyone experience the same?
In my experience, speakers that sound good in store tend to sound crappy in a house. There are exceptions, but if a speaker sounds good in a big box store, it probably is super v shaped and will sound harsh in your house. There is a reason that a lot of cheap Klipsch from the 2000s sound shitty, and it's because they were made to sound good in a store.
If these sounded dull in store, they might sound really good at home, it's hard to tell.
Could I run these with the Topping DX7 Pro?
how do these compare to the IN-5?
How would these go with the Kali 6.5 Subwoofer?

I wish Kali Audio sent this man a IN5.
Zeos is real above board. He won't talk to us at all, so that no one accuses him of being based. Which, that's cool, we can respect that. But yeah, he won't let us send him anything. He buys everything with his own money.

Harman's only studio monitor brand right now is JBL. Harman also has a way of going on a hiring binge every so often, then going on a hiring purge soon afterward. Harman has seeded most of the industry with their know-how by this point, through talented people they have let go.
Kali
When Zeos played the Devilman crybaby track, I literally said "fuck", then "holy shit" a second before him each time, lol.
XLR signal should be +4db but RCA is -20db? So you can turn the speaker down and get better SNR.
RCA is -10 on these
I wonder how much it costs to have them on 24/7. Is it a big or small impact on the electric bill? I define big as $20+ a month.
They're class D. They take almost no power when not playing music.
They might have a standby power consumption listed. I can't remember.
But did you get the v2
Dont tell me that audiable hiss is normal. That mean that dev cant do proper amp. For example in new Kali IN-5 they fix this problem... You can hear little hiss by 5cm around but not 1 or 2m !!!!
