for your first foray back into Terraria, it's probably a good idea to go in on classic difficulty, but on expert mode and higher, bosses have extra attack patterns and drop goodie bags, which always drop a cool accessory that does unique things. the Brain of Cthulhu, for example, will drop one that confuses melee targets, and the Eye of Cthulhu will drop a shield that lets you dash away and/or into enemies and also deal melee damage on hit. smart cursor will also be your friend- manual cursor is just where you click, but smart cursor will prioritize things closest to you when mining, or the nearest spot that gives a placed torch maximum efficiency, or automatically spaces out placed acorns to give the trees maximum growth. most of the game is also played underground, like a mirror of Minecraft's above-ground exploration. there are plenty of thing to find, but most important is to take note of biomes. unlike Minecraft, Terraria's biomes are dependent on the blocks used to make them; you can make "artificial biomes" by placing a ton of blocks nearby, and for instance if you want to do a lot of fishing, it'd be a good idea to make an artificial jungle biome with maximum surface area to spawn grass and background object that you can break to spawn worms and grubs. also, the world has roughly two blights (one on each side of the map, being corruption or crimson), a desert on one side with an ice biome on the opposite side, and a jungle on one side with The Dungeon on the opposite side, and beyond those, another forest biome, and then the ocean. my last tip to keep this from being too long, since idk if Jordan's actually gonna read it, is that you're gonna wanna pick a class to play as; melee, magic, ranged, or summoner. Summoner doesn't have a whole lot of armor choices that enhance it with the set bonus, and magic has some really strong pre-hardmode contenders (waterbolt, bee gun), but don't worry; you're not gonna lock yourself into or out of any single class. that said, try carefully delving into the Dungeon. normally, you get merked by big skull if you go in without killing the associated boss, but that only happens at around or under sea level. or... whatever 0 blocks is on the depth meter. look on bookshelves for the Waterbolt, which can hard carry you for a while.
dear god, I am both incredibly excited and dreading this series. having played Minecraft for as long as he can, I can already tell the learning curve will be very steep
TIPS: 1: press Ctrl to swap to your "Auto-select" cursor, which lets you place, break and select the blocks closest to you. 2: hold shift to use the proper tool or item your cursor is hovering. i.e. a pickaxe when hovering stone, axe on tree, torch on back wall, glow stick when cursor is far 3: ask the guide for crafting advice, if you're curious you can learn all the crafting recipes by putting a material in his slot
Love that Jordan is playing this game again. I will say that Classic is the best way to first experience Terraria, or at least when you're just experiencing it again after a very long time. Expert mode can be a bit unforgiving since it requires sweaty tactics like using buffs and advanced arenas with honey, heart lanterns, campfire, sunflower, and other buffs from furniture, or at least being overgeared by grinding. Some people would say that that is the correct way to play, but I honestly don't recommend leading newbies or people unfamiliar with the game into the sweaty route immediately

The guide keeps opening your doors cause you don't have background walls. If it's not "valid housing" for any reason, then the NPCs don't know the difference between inside and outside. They'll stay indoors at night, as long as it's a valid structure. You can click the question mark above your armor and then click on the interior of the house to tell if it counts as valid housing.
As a Terraria veteran, here are some of my favorite quotes from this episode. "I got Crimson? Is Crimson good?" (Early game, no. Mid/late game, absolutely) "There's like, no mobs in the Desert." (Oh boy...) *Activates Smart Cursor* "Oh that's smart" (Unintentional pun is great) "Are there stack limits in Terraria?" (Praise Red for increasing that in the last update. Mojang needs to get on that too) "Is there fall damage in this game? No fall damage? Ok, awesome." (He doesn't know) "Tin = Iron? Ok" (Chat member clearly does not know their ores) *something dies* "I feel like I should go over there." (Ironically, yes) "I found a pot, I'm gonna be Zelda." (Ah yes... "Zelda," infamous breaker of pots...) "I'm contending with multiple dude-bros." (Wait until he hears about the goblins...) Really interested to see him discover some things. For veterans, we should look forward to Dungeon, the new liquid, "The Nether," if it happens by accident the "cursed butterfly," etc. Can't wait to see some traps either.

Don't expect Jardoon to read this but what it means by more loot in expert mode it means that the drop rate for items being higher(like maybe a really difficult item to get is less grindy) at the cost that 1. All enemies have more health and do more damage and 2. Bosses have a third (sometimes fourth) extra faze. So your Not missing out on anything with playing playing normal.

Due to taking too long hiking snowy hills at night it can naturally spawn boss monster.. We don't want that man.. (It might just happen once but better than know)
Late but clarifying a few things that chay shoved down your throat, and a few other small quality of life notes -- • The Guide is a crafting guide but not the way you used him. Talking to him opens your OWN crafting menu, but if you provide the guide with an item that has the "material" tag he'll show you everything that can be crafted with that item. It won't allow you to make those items, but it can at least point you in the right direction. • As you learned, there are two cursor modes -- a precise building/breaking mode and an automated smart cursor. The smart cursor is great for walls, but it's also good for longer mining trips and resource gathering -- mining to the sides or up/down will make perfect straight tunnels that are the size of your character, and it also makes mining ore veins less tedious since it tries to target ores over the stone around it. • Harley let the zombies in because the house wasn't technically a house. NPCs only stop moving at night when they're inside their own secure house, so his AI was in "fight or flight" mode while trying to look for a valid house. The "housing query" tool in your inventory (question mark on the NPC list) can help tell you if an area is valid housing. If you're on the right path the tool will tell you what you're missing in order for it to count as a house. • A house generally consists of a large enough room with background walls, lighting, an entrance, a "platform" (any flat-topped table-like furniture like a table, workbench, piano, etc.), and a "comfort" (anything to sit on like a chair, bench, etc.). • There are also a kind of block called platforms that you can pass through -- you can jump up through the bottom and hold down to fall through it. It can be hammered into visually pleasing stairs. • In addition to being able to destroy background walls, a hammer is able to reshape blocks into slopes and slabs, which is great for building. They have a few other uses but those come later. • Many of your accessories also double as vanity items. If you have something equipped that looks ugly and don't have anything to cover it with in its corresponding vanity slot, you can click the small eye icon next to it to hide it. Hope you enjoy yourself!
so sparklez plays terraria vanilla fully becomes a god at the game then eventually does modded terraria and becomes a god of modded terraria sounds like a win win to me
love seeing you play this game again. i remember your old videos on this from long ago and they were always some of my favorite videos of yours. can’t wait to see more from this!
Lights don't do anything for mob spawn. There is 4 main classes in terms of damage; melee, magic, ranger, and summoner. Make lots of houses for all the different NPCs, they'll help you out in the long term. Also, 4 ores spawn in your world. Tin or copper, iron or lead, tungsten or silver, and gold or platinum. Not worth grinding those for armor. I'd say go to the desert and get some desert fossil then find an extractinator to get some sturdy fossil which will let you make a ranger armor
I absolutely love Terraria, such a great game, and Jordan exploring it is so much fun for me to watch. Keep it up man, looking forward to seeing more of it!
My only gripe is that I wasn't in the stream to tell him that expert is genuinely the better way to play terraria, large worlds are best for loot variety, and crimson world evil because it's easier to traverse early game.
as someone who has never played terraria and solely plays MC this is a lot more enjoyable than trying to watch someone try and play MC for the first time because I'm just as clueless as he is and we're learning things together so I'm not frustrated with him lmao.
First vid I’ve liked in a long time just cause I wanna see this man play through the whole game EDIT: slight disappointment to not see him do expert, definitely doable even for a new player and the challenge and better loot makes it a lot more enjoyable and fulfilling, especially saying I doubt he will do another play through on higher difficulty once he finishes this one.
I use to watch you all the time when I was younger but I heard that you are getting into terraria and I love this game definitely going to watch your whole play through

This was... somewhat painful to watch. Excited for it to continue!
so sparklez plays terraria vanilla fully becomes a god at the game then eventually does modded terraria and becomes a god of modded terraria sounds like a win win to me
love seeing you play this game again. i remember your old videos on this from long ago and they were always some of my favorite videos of yours. can’t wait to see more from this!
PLEASE CONTINUE THIS
Calamity lurking in the background, waiting for jardon's inevitable pilgrimage
You're the reason I bought terraria all those years ago. I also finished master mode when it first dropped. Thank you for the memories.
I was there all those years ago. When the 2 terraria episodes were released.
This guy is the only calm terraria player ive seen
Captain you just made my day🥹🥹🥹
Yay, Terraria! I am actually exited about this new series. Terraria was one of the first video games I ever played, I played it even before Minecraft.
Really glad to see Cap playing Terraria. It's honestly one of the best games ever made.
I love this new update. Both to the game and to the channel 🤣
I am very happy to see this, I really hope it continues!
Holy shit. I'll be honest with you, Cap. I haven't watched one of your playthroughs in so long. Years. This will bring me back
Reracking trees is now going to be in my terraria vocabulary from now on
I’ve been wanting this for years! Let’s gooo
It's so funny that after all these years, the Guide still lets monsters inside houses
its about damn time. hope he goes all the way with this playthrough.
I use to watch you all the time when I was younger but I heard that you are getting into terraria and I love this game definitely going to watch your whole play through
I love how the rabbit mask slime from the Halloween event actually tricked Jardon
Classic is great for your first playthrough lets you learn the ropes
Id say its too easy even for first playthroughs lol
So glad to see you finally playing this.
Please yall. Watch this series. I really want Captain to continue this.
This is still one 9f my favorite games. Im glad you chose to do a playthrough, ill try to catch some live if not youtube will have to do
dude, it makes me so happy to see you playing things you enjoy! Never expected Terraria, I got mine opened up along side you! Good stuff
Yes, please keep this playthrough going Jordan!! 😂I just started playing again last week after a year or two away and it's even more fun then I remembered I think you'll really enjoy it once you get the jist of how everything works. I know ill be watching every episode!
Im so sorry i forgot sparklez, ty for always being a good person
No way I love terraria and seeing you play it again is crazy
Never once in my many years watching this channel did I think Jordan would record Terraria. I'm hyped.
No Way! I remember watching Jardon play Terraria when he first uploaded it. How time flies!
