Turbo IS300 gets new wheels/tires and other upgrades!

- Опубліковано 5 жов 2019
- After fighting an issue with steering wheel vibration/feedback while braking, I was finally able to eliminate the issue by installing some upgraded polyurethane bushings in the front-end of the Turbo IS300. Needing some new tires anyway, I figured it was a good time to switch things up with a new tire and wheel combination as well.
** I'm currently planning to take the Turbo IS300 down to Supras In Vegas Show & Shine this Friday, October 11th, so be sure to stop by and say hi if you'll be attending the event! **
Thanks for watching!

God damn, I get excited everytime I see your car. She is beautiful. I love the content keep it coming. Would love to see some more street pulls with the data on screen. Maybe some videos at the drag track?? 😉😄. Keep the videos coming. Love the content man!
Thanks for the support, glad you enjoy the content! I would really LOVE to take the car to a 1/2 mile event someday, I think that would be a blast.
@@twojay I cannot wait to see when you do. Dont forget the gopro!
Thanks for updating us!
Nice details my dude. Good vid!
Great update man ! Keep at it
Hell yeah brother! She's so purty!
Looks amazing!
Jeez this is probably the nicest IS I’ve seen
Great video as always, alot more traction now with those tyres, pulls so hard!!!
Thank you sir! The tires made a huge improvement!
Car looks amazing
Sweet another video! Thanks
He's back yes =)
Dude yes! I'm going to for sure find you for that damn high 5!
Looking forward to it man!
:,) this is beautiful! Hoping someday I can get my IS to this level
Ken DREW u can’t even imagine how much money u need
Awesome channel, you deserve more subs!
Great content as always man 🍻
I appreciate that man!
I did the same thing with my IS300. I replaced everything in the front end. All new. My car runs great now.
Yeah mine needs help.. You did everything he did..?
Man SXE10 looking good 👍😎
Goals. I love that fucking color man. That event sounds like its gonna be sick!
You definitely have probably the best built is300 in the country.
great video! i had the same thing going on with my is300 and did the same thing, polyurethane for the front end along with new
harder motor mounts and transmission mount and it has felt great over the past year. then i got carried away and took out the rear subframe and made it adustable multi link with polyurethane for all the mounts. this is a great maintainance mod for diy guys to greatly update the is300 platform.
Yeah I upgraded everything in the rear-end a few years back after I destroyed a driveshaft due to wheel hop. It made a huge difference!
two jay nice and like you said not the most enjoyable process changing bushings but wow what a difference the polyurethane makes. look foward to your next video and do you think you can make an update video on your other daily driver is300.
@@jicez6649 Possibly, there's not much to cover on the daily as it is essentially stock. I uploaded a video about some of the maintenance I did on my daily driver IS a few months back, so be sure to check that out of you haven't already!
Great choice of tire for the ride! We run Toyos our Turbo IS300 and the 2J swapped MKIII Supra, absolutely wonderful traction will hold on well for what you are putting down, AND they actually last pretty well if you are putting miles on them. Thanks for the update, absolutely LOVE your ride!
I am still utilizing boost by gear to maintain traction in the lower gears but the R888R did make a huge improvement and I have even been able to make the boost control strategy a little more aggressive. I appreciate the input and thanks for coming back!
@@twojay that's absolutely smart with your power levels. Noticed during the "computer simulated pulls" your boost levels, definitely not something that would hook up in 1st gear on anything short of a full on drag radial.
Ask me how I know :) Keep the updates coming and enjoy the Vegas show!
@@LucoreAuto Yeah, the gearing is already pretty short with the V160 so any amount of wheel spin and it'll go straight to the limiter most of the time. Sounds great, thanks!
Damn clean is fast af
Thank you for bringing the IS out in Oct yo SIV. Car is super clean.. This is Miguel owner of Siv btw, brown mk3
3. Just picked up and IS myself
Thanks Miguel, I had a great time at SIV and look forward to possibly attending again next year. Congrats on the IS, they are great cars!
In another timeline you became a full-time UA-camr and did episodic build series showing every step along the way. And in that timeline, i binge-watched every video lol maybe someday. Awesome build
Bro those back lights look sick..... Want them for my is 200 too
I did your blue interior dash setup up came out nice!
Man that 5th gear is rolling!
Beautiful car and build bro
Thanks!
Nice whip I m going to build one!!!
Yoo that shit fast asf!!!
ur is300 is clean asf
Such a gorgeous SXE-10 you have. I have to admit I also prefer the Work Emotion CR-Kai wheels overall, but I'm glad you have better traction management now with the larger and more modern sport tires on there. Hoping you had fun at Vegas 2019 and if I had gone this year I would have definitely geeked out on your car at the Show N Shine.
Thank you! I definitely still miss the CR Kai from time to time. SIV was a lot of fun!
a masterpiece, well-done brother! Unfortunately, I would like to swap the engine of my IS 200, but the gov does not allow it in Italy....
Looks AWESOME.
I know you mentioned the new rear tire width, but what are the wheel and tire specs front and rear? Thanks
Omg 😍😍😍
That's nice I have one just going to turbo my car and a lot more
Very nice video and a very clean car! My IS300 had the same problem 2 years ago and I did the same refresh, and now it's back again :( it's annoying
Thanks! That's not good that your issues came back.
Oh my god! She is beautiful. Enjoy her!
🙌
Subscribed. .. car looks very good ... what are the wheel spec are those 17s ?
What size are those wheels? 18x? Et?
Hey man, very informative video. Thank you. I am having front end issues with my IS as well and would like to ask if you could give me some direction. I hear creaking and popping noises in my front end under low speeds and while turning or going over speed bumps. I’m thinking possibly bushings or steering rack? I am a beginner mechanic with limited tools as well as on a budget. Would you recommend I give this a shot myself or take my IS to a shop?
Beautiful IS man! I just got mine a month ago. What wheel and tire set up are you running? Suspension? Thanks 🙏
Lol I follow u on instagram for a while now didn’t even know u had a UA-cam channel
My man took my recommendation and did the Wilwood BBK!!
I actually ordered a different kit but canceled the order after waiting like 8 weeks with no ETA. So the Wilwood kit was my backup plan, haha. It's a nice kit though!
two jay with your 265 tires, I’m guessing you rolled your fenders so they won’t rub/scrap ?
@@PrettyBoiiRob2JZ I rolled all the fenders when I installed the old wheels and tires.
two jay Yeah I really need to roll mine, I have a 245/40/18 w/ 35 off set & mine are rubbing & scraping
👍👍
Sick man! What car cover are you using?
Rim and tyre setup plz?
Hey brotha 😎 video is awesome but whats up with the wheel, tire, and offset info. I want to go wide as well and 265 is crazy wide. Just curious how u pulled it off.
Yeah getting the old bushings out of the upper control arms isn't really the hard part, getting the polyurethane bushings into the upper control arms is a pain in the ass. I would highly suggest doing what you did and getting everything pre-installed
What size wheels are those man, I'm looking to buy some wheels for my is300, the fitment on your IS looks perfect. And I don't know if a 18x9.5 +35 will fit, because I don't want to have any problems with having to buy spacers.
I love your is bro, I wanna get a lot of the same work done to mine but the funds aren’t there yet lol
Thanks and good luck with the build!
Where did you get your bushings/control arms? Trying do the same for mine but can’t seem to find a kit.
I’m sorry if you mention this at some point I’m kind of new to the channel but what’s the actual size of the wheels and the offset I just recently got an I S 300 in that wheel fitment looks perfect and definitely something I’d like to emulate did you have to roll your fenders?
love those wheels..can you share the wheels and tire specs. thx man. love your videos.
No specs for u !
What was your old rim set up? Looks bad ass
Haha I love how you wired the mpg to rise to 80 🤣🤣
No wiring necessary, just inaccurate in the right way!
It's actually supposed to say 80 GPM
Love the car man! I'm actually looking to get my first is300 this Saturday! Curious what type of taillights, headlights, and lip is that if you dont mind me asking? I'm new to this platform
Thanks! All of the parts you mentioned were actually purchased on eBay. The lip is a "Type R" style lip.
Having your time again would you still build the ge or swap in a gte? Car is legit man! Love it
The built GE has worked great for me so I wouldn't change anything there. I wish I would have done billet mains and better rods though. Thank you!
where did you grab the bushings from? does anyone sell a complete poly bushing kit?
New wheels and tires look great! Nice choice! You should definitely update to include which size/offsets, though. Glad to see an update - keep it up!
I've completed my T56 swap - a huge, huge improvement over the R154, and the McLeod RXT twin is amazing. Beautiful engagement and almost totally silent. Planning on building a custom harness and installing a legit ecu over the winter...
Thanks! I don't know if I'm ready to spill all the juicy details about the new wheels just yet. =) Sounds like you're making some great progress on the build! I bet the T56 is leaps and bounds better than the R154.
@@twojay Think it's time to spill those juicy details now?
Any chance you can list your width and offset?? Love your fitment it's not ludicrous or cambered to shit.
Do the wheels come in different colors and where did u get that front bumper?
As an NA is300 owner Im planning on making more power in the next couple years. For me ive been having difficulty on choosing an NA-T setup, 1JZ swap or 2JZ Aristo swap. What is your take on each engine and what would be best for a more or less beginner mechanic new to boost. Love the channel and how in depth your content is by the way!
Glad you enjoy the videos! I honestly don't really have any experience with the 1JZ or 2JZ swaps so it's hard to make an accurate suggestion there. I built the GE and it has worked extremely well for my particular setup and goals. There are so many factors that come into play when choosing which route to take for a build like this (budget, goals, skills, equipment, etc). Good luck!
Nice ride! I'm curious on the specs of your wheel / tire combo?
18x9.5 +38
I have 02 red manual .Great cars .I love the blue On yours. Can you provide the wheel specs ?
Are the old rims for sale? Love the new look. Also when are going to take it to the track? I think it is time to go with a 3.13 or 3.24 rearend, you have the power and the tire now. You just need a little better gearing to utilize both. What a mean looking and sounding IS. Great video keep them coming.
I already sold the old wheels and tires. I'm not sure when I will make it to the track but I would really love to take it to a 1/2 mile event. The 3.55 gear set is the lowest that is available for the IS300 housing unfortunately, so going to something lower would require retrofitting an entirely different rear-end in the car (Supra, Ford 8.8, etc). It's something that I plan to do eventually but is a big project both financially and in the amount of work involved. Thanks for watching!
True for a is300 housing but there are adapters for gs400 and Supra, and for your power I think upgrade will be necessary for the dig. But love the car and videos. We need videos!
@@Brinks84 Yeah, a rear-end upgrade is on the list of future upgrades, just not sure when I'll get there! Thanks!
What are the wheel and tire size? Wheel offset and width?
What size are the rims and tires in the front
Is 18x8j et38 ok? No touching the fenders?
What’re the wheel and tire dimensions front and rear?
Omg. Your car is fabulous. I have the same style but no upgrades. Just car system and breaks. Have you ever thought about building another Lexus like yours. 😏 I would love too.
Thanks!
What size wheel and tire are you running?
What are the size of your wheels?
I know this is old hoping you reply but can you tell me the exact rim and tire specs especially the offset of the rims… really trying to go for the flush and functionality
What size of tires did he use for the front
What ecu are you running?
10:15
damn son, i wish my is300 got 80 mpg
i think its not working right...its supposed to go down when going on the throttle. Well mine does that.
@@vossaquatics
I was joking lol
Whats the RIM and Tire size?????????
may i know the wheel fitment?
i know its been years but do you remember the wheel specs?
What front lip is that? Looks very subtle! 👌🏻
Just an eBay "Type R" lip.
Did you mention the rim specs?
All that horsepower AND 80mpg? Suck on that, Prius. XD
Love the car, where can I get those bushing to buy i need to upgrade my own
Thanks, I ordered them from Figs Engineering.
Anything to the interior ? Maybe a interior vid in the future
There are a bunch of interior shots in my "Up Close and Personal (4K)" video.
what lip is that?
Make a video on how much you’ve put into your build! Was it a manual conversion? Factory manual? Love your content man.
I don't have any plans to make a "how much did it cost" video. But yeah, the car was originally an auto and is now equipped with a V160 6-speed manual. Thanks!
@@twojay That would be a painful video to make. 😅
@@RacecarAndChill Oh for sure. It has been an ongoing evolution over the last 6-7 years with lots of parts bought and sold along the way and it's hard to put a value on all the junk that I have fabricated myself. Oh and my wife watches my videos. 😬
@@twojay lmao at the last sentence 😂😂😂
@@twojay 🤣
I need a car cover. Where did you get yours? Looks nice.
It's a Covercraft Dustop. I believe I ordered it from AutoAnything.
Hey, just so you know you can make your own press for pretty cheap using a bottle jack! Just search DIY hydraulic press on youtube
Thanks for the info! I'm running out of space in my garage so that's also one of the reasons I didn't just buy or build a cheap press.
IS is the 4Door Supra so I feel its the only non supra that should be allowed. lol Chances are you'll see someone bring like a 350z or something anyway lol
Haha, they actually have a category called "Non-Supra (Supra Powertrain)", so there are usually some 2JZ swapped builds out there. Hopefully I won't be too out of place! Thanks for watching!
Were did you get your car cover?
It's a Covercraft Dustop. I believe I got it from AutoAnything.
How much hp
never sell or get rid of that beauty.
Definitely don't have any plans to!
this is way better than porn
you dont play around! figgs is the best shit
Lemme get them Taillights Dawg!?!?!? lol
eBay special!
@@twojay really wow they nice as hell
@@MurdaRacing Haha, I can't tell if you're trolling or not. But yeah they are just red/clear LED taillights from eBay. I tinted the bottom part as well (they don't come like that). When's the next race event for the 8 second beast?
Na im not trollin i have some ugly led taillights looking for some new ones in the near future mine look like autozone specials lol! My motor is being torn down at the moment because i need billet mains in case i wanna turn it up a bit more 😉 and i have that Grannas 8.8 getting built right now as we speak also.....but if we can get this motor back together on time i will be goin to Street Car Takeover on nov 1-2nd and hopefully import faceoff the next day on the 3rd so got my fingers crossed i can make those events! 👍🏁
@@MurdaRacing Oh yeah sounds like you have some work to do if you want to make those events! I wish I would have done billet mains when I built the engine years ago. Did the factory rear-end finally give up the ghost or you are just ready to move on? I have also been keeping my eye on the Grannas 8.8" kit, it seems like the best solution with the most gearing and locker options.
wheel spec please
what’s the best way to go about adding no lift shift to something like this? would you need a whole new trans
There's probably a way to engage an alternate rev limiter under certain conditions with the AEM, but I think it's pretty hard on the clutch and transmission so I'll probably just keep granny shifting it for now!
two jay that’s sick. this thing is still on stock trans? prob my favorite street car i hope i can make it out to vegas to check it out 👍🏼
@@colinclarke9379 Well yeah it's a stock V160 (Supra 6-speed), but they are pretty stout. Sounds good!
No lift shift requires an ecu with a strategy to cut spark during a shift. You'll need to have a strain gage shift lever (Measurement Specialists in Hunstville Alabama can do this for you) that can detect when you are applying force to the shift lever. The ecu will see that signal and cut spark for a calibrated duration. This can be done on a synchronized transmission, but it is abusive to the synchs. A dogbox or "faceplated" box handles it better.
@@GroovesAndLands Thanks for the info! I know there are ways of accomplishing "flat-foot shifting" without fancy equipment like a strain gauge, but obviously that's probably the best solution. I had the feature in my 2005 STi with just a Cobb AP way back in the day. Either way, definitely hard on the transmission synchros and I have no intention of putting my V160 through that kind of abuse!
Where you get the LED side markers
I don't have LED side markers.
two jay where you get those front side markers 🔥
@@jdmfein23 They're just eBay clear ones that I modified.
