YES --- Road trip uploads. The thing we all have in common is the wide selection of lousy
food at gas stations. It's always fun to see what food substitute you select at each fill-up.

Seeing under that hood makes me miss my cj7 changing spark plugs took about 15 minutes ,and 5 of those where on that one plug where the header is always in the way. ps I've been showing my niece your videos to inspire her and let her know that she can do anything she sets her mind to ,so thank you Holly for this video keep the inspiration flowing .and a short clip (just not a wire clip) everyday would be awesomeness.

Holly, it's great to see a woman doing her own servicing and maintenance on her vehicle. One thing.... I have been doing my own servicing for many years on all of my vehicles and never disconnected the battery unless really needed, and don't forget, If you do that then you have to reset radios and all sorts of things. I'm glad my LandCruiser is old school and doesn't have any of that electronic stuff to worry about. There is nothing better than hands on learning, I taught myself most of it and other stuff I have resorted to manuals and UA-cam for info which these days is a great help. I love the collection of R/C planes on the wall.. do you both fly them or just Walter? I look forward to seeing your adventures.. For me a person that is in another country (Melbourne Australia) I would love to see bits n pieces of each day to see some of the countryside and what you get up to.. please.. thank you and safe driving.

I know many have said this before, but you should ALWAYS were eye protection. I worked in a variety of shops, and there was always welding and grinding and cleaning off rust and buildup grime. There was always milling machines, lathes, surface grinders, cut off departments, heat treat departments, carpentry dept, shipping dept, quality controls dept, you name it. I have had to go to an eye Dr three times I remember in almost 40 years. I also have had various fluids splash over my safety glasses dozens of times. I then had to flush my eye with eye wash. I guarantee you if you ever get a piece of metal shot into your eye by a grinder or other machine, you will ALWAYS wear eye protection from that point on.

Holli, two things to be aware of.
A small dab of anti-seize compound on the plug threads will keep the plug from seizing in place.
Whenever you remove one of the plastic intake manifolds, get the O-ring kits to seal the top to the bottom. A weak point on the manifolds is that they warp when they get hot and start leaking vacuum causing a lean condition on that cylinder.
One of the small claw tools can reach into the valve cover to remove that plug that refuses to stay in the plug socket. Torque to factory specifications, especially on aluminum heads. Good deal on the Tekton torque wrench. Store with the torque set to the lowest setting. (it keeps the springs from taking a set)
Keep the old O-rings for spares like the spark plugs. They take up little room and can make the difference between being stranded on the trail and getting back on your own power.

    • @Mmercier942
      @Mmercier942 2 роки тому

It's a spit beam torque wrench so this style don't need to be store at the lowest settings. But it's applicable for other micrometer style.

OK Miss Holly,..... You have beautiful eyes, So you should have protected them while you were taking off your evac canister, Some of the dirt and gravel could have fallen right into your eyes but it wouldn't happen if you had safety glasses on....... It's great that you're doing preventive maintenance Like you said it's the little things that will break down that keep you stuck on the trail or side of a road.

@Lopin' Sorry for your loss Dear, I agree with you wholeheartedly and if I might add one small bit... Don't wait to learn. So many men would feel wronged by having their wives want to turn a wrench; Same with the wife not wanting a man in her kitchen; I say get over it! Any job is more enjoyable with pleasant company, and how nice to be surprised with a job done that you were not looking forward to, weather that is changing the oil or cooking dinner, you never know when the knowledge will be useful. And, sadly, life is short. I truly did not mean to be disrespectful in any way and certainly not mean to disparage you at all. I wish you all the best on whatever trail life finds you. God Bless.

Good Morning from Fort Wayne, Indiana! You asked for our opinions on videos for trip. My suggestion would be for you to make a daily video journal. Just take few minute clips of everything you do each day. What the weather is like, eating places, people you meet, and locations. You will meet people that watch you, that will make impact on you. Interview them a little, and get their stories. Pass a little of yourself off to everyone you meet. Enjoy your adventure, while documenting every moment. God Bless, and have fun!

Iridium plugs are good for at least 100K miles especially if you use good clean gas. With that much trouble to change plugs, and I'm shocked at what a pain that is, I'd wait till it really needs it. But to each their own, great informational how to video. There's a reason I prefer the older rigs, much easier to work on. Well done though.

What I have found, through Dyno runs and a lot of research is Bosch plugs on a Chrysler product, including the Jeep, they don't perform as well on plugs other than NGK or Champion sparkplugs. A friend of mine has done Dyno runs with an engine occilloscope and ECM monitoring computer wired into the engine to monitor everything in detail. We found higher incidences of misfires with certain plugs on certain makes of cars by brand. Even heat range can affect the overall performance of an engine, stock or modified.

General maintenance (like chassis lubrication) is a good and necessary thing. If you want to ensure a long engine life, change your oil filter - often. I change my daily driver's filter every 1000 miles and the oil (synthetic) every 10K miles. Oil is your Jeep's life blood, keep it clean. Same with your engine's air filter - keep it clean. Cheap insurance vs an engine rebuild due to contaminants/dirt getting into your engine. Also something to consider for engine health/longevity would be a "catch" can or air/oil separator to help clean up your intake charge and intake system, in general.

Holly I hope you put the clips back in the charcoal canaster lines. You mentioned they were zip tied on and you cut them. They can pop off and throw a check engine light on you. I just couldn't see in the video if they were on there. The factory clips need to be pushed in on the sides then lifted at the same time to release them, kind of a pain but with the proper tool very easy to deal with. good luck with the road trip and wheeling adventures here on the east coast.

Hi Holly, it is nice to see some other things that you can share. I know you need some privacy too. Things like the work on the Jeep was good. It is nice to see a lady that will turn a wrench too.

I also prefer Bosch them and the NGK are both much better than what you had in.

If you can do snippets on the road that's always fun but if you can't do it, you can't do it!

Even if you break minor things on your own vehicle while working on it, it’ll be cheaper than paying labor at a shop by doing it yourself. Also, fluid film, for those of us in the rust belt anyways.

I've changed my evap because I crushed it wheeling. Easy job, stinks being on the back though. I don't know why people get up in arms about changing plugs early on the 3.6 JK, it's a piece of cake job, anyone could do it, so why not spend a couple bucks to keep performance up. You should have changed the plenum gaskets when you were in there though. Probably need a catch can too.

One last thing I was going to suggest but forgot 'til now, a little dielectric grease on the tips of sparkplugs or in opening of cap going to plug from coil will 1increase connectivity to plug and 2 make them easiet to put on and off

do you put dielectric in boots? it helps keep out contaminants and makes the boots install easier and easier to remove
