    You need a jack stand under the vehicle in case the hydraulic jack fails. Keeps you from getting hurt.

    A little tip for our lovely Lady H. Rub a small dab of Dawn dish soap on your hands before working on MM. Apply like lotion until dry, then when you're finished with a project, simply wash off, no soap needed.

    Holli. get yourself a code reader and leave it inside a waterproof box along with some impact sockets, basic hand tools, a digital volt meter and flash light (preferred a head lamp). In the event of a trail breakdown, you can plug in, diagnose the problem and either effect the repair on the trail or have someone bring the required part.

    Holly please observe the basic shop safety by using the jack stands (they were 6' to your right) and putting your unmounted tire under your vehicle as a secondary. I love this channel and I don't want anything bad to happen to you or Walter. And can we get more videos with Walter in them?

    I agree that a jack stand is called for.
    In my role as Kaptain Oblivious I would be remiss if I didn’t tell you that the more you modify a vehicle from factory spec the more esoteric the compounding of conundrums.

    For months I've been wondering why Holly and her content are so appealing to this old guy. Well today i found out. Well done buddy, and thanks for not buckling to the expert social media pressures. And by the way, i live in Queensland, Oz and we call hot days "a bit Tropical". Take care, stay well, be happy

    Use the new abs brake sensor and cut 2 each 8" extensions and ask Trevor to splice/solder them in place and that should take care of the suspension drop on either side of the axle and ripping the fragile wires from the abs sensor out. Or you could just swap front axles with me and then the stock sensor will fit perfectly and no more problems LOL

    Another thing that helps the suspension from squeaking is to not tighten the bolts all the way while the suspension is unloaded meaning dont tighten while on the the lift put hand tight lower the rig to the ground crawl under it and torque the bolts down

    • @jasoncampbell4723
      @jasoncampbell4723 2 роки тому +1

      Yeah you don’t need to tighten the crap out of your hardware. A good quality grade 8 or F 9 bolt with a crush locking nut modestly torqued to say 90 ft lbs for 1/2” bolt is sufficient otherwise your deforming your attachment tabs and causing issues. If your worries about hardware loosening lock wire it. Grease works better than wd40.

  • @deadfirefighter
    @deadfirefighter 2 роки тому +3

    WD40 is fish oil so it is somewhat water soluble. Since you are likely putting the lubricant on rubber and silicone parts silicone spray is the best solution. A hydrocarbon lubricant might cause early degradation of the bushings and boots. I’m not sure I would have put in a new ABS ( even though that is the right way to do it) I would have bought some stainless steel woven wire wrap to protect the wire in the future and then spliced the wires using waterproof connectors with an extra shrink wrap cover over that with the stainless steel wrap over that. Hollie, you are a beast. I’ve been laid up for so long I would have struggled a lot more moving that big tire around.

  • @Bigdaddyslasher
    @Bigdaddyslasher 2 роки тому +3

    From what I have been told from two different shops you can't delete your ABS and keep the stock transmission because it won't shift. Hence why it acts crazy or goes into limp mode. I found out the hard way when I swapped to junkyard tons. I had the shop put all 4 speed sensors on the rear axle and boy for about a year I had so much trouble. I should have just had the front sensors installed and not went the way I went. If I LS swapped the Jeep I could have deleted the whole ABS trash.

    For lubrication you should use "Fluid Film" it won't wash off and will probably last longer. Also if you go back to New York the salt won't stick to those parts and rust it away. The UA-cam channel South main auto uses it to coat the complete underside of vehicles to prevent rust.
    Side note, you NEED to use jake stands when servicing your vehicles. SAFETY FIRST

    My 1976 Jeep CJ-5 was a hole I poured money into. The more equipment I placed on it, the more things broke. After every trail ride, I detail washed it, then started looking for damage or wear. The one thing you don't want is something breaking on the trail. In my day, we only had radios for emergency extraction.

      Yup, ABS sensor is just a simple Hall sensor. In a pinch, you can splice the wires or solder them to get you going. And if you simply want to not have the computer throw a code, once spliced just wire-tie it out of the way until the replacement arrives.

    Hollie, I may be wrong but silicone grease is worth considering for your squeaks. Granted, you won't be able to just spray it on, you would have to disassemble and apply the grease then reassemble. But I think it would be worth it over time. Maybe Molybdenum grease

    Test your battery to see if it's putting somewhere close to 12V when off and higher after starting. If the battery appears to be 'OK', then disconnect the ground - wait a few minutes, then re-connect it and start the vehicle. Hopefully the computer will reset itself after several moments - as it may be stuck in 'Limp-mode'?

    Hi 👋
    Why don't you fix the old ABS sensor?
    You have a higher suspension, so the cable is too short. Solder a piece of cable in between and insulate with shrink tubing.
    Adjust the length of the cable so that it is not under tension when the suspension is extended.
    I would try that first 😉
    Greetings from Germany 😊.

When greasing wheel bearing etc, use a spoon stick etc to dip the grease in a ZIP LOCK bag then drop the bearing etc in the bag and sweeze the grease through the bag untill done then zip up the bag and store in a plastic container through it in your soft tool bag and its ready when needed, hope this helps, Jim las vegas nv

    Ok Holly
    We need to find out why you keep eating ABS cables.
    My gut says the cable is to short and is getting caught up in the suspension or the steering.
    The way to fix that is to make an xtra long cable and mount it so that nothing touches it when the suspension or steering travels.
    Since Michief Maker is custom. Most mods are going to have to be custom.
