“I Don’t Want You To Be Offended But You People Annoy Me” | Jeremy Kyle BLASTS Cyclists

- A transport minister has revealed he “managed to nab quite a few cyclists” during his long police career as he was pressed over government action to tackle dangerous riding.
Lord Davies of Gower said there were laws already in place to deal with reckless cycling and pointed out it was the job of officers to enforce them.
Jeremy Kyle clashes with spokesperson for Cambridge Cycling Club arguing that cyclists create problems on the road and don’t pay any taxes.

Cyclists aren’t a group, it’s just individuals, you can’t ask one cyclists why another cyclist acts like a maniac.
They expect every car driver to be responsible for every other driver
Presumably missing the point that plenty of cyclists are also drivers too
For your information, road tax was abolished on April 1st 1937. Road maintenance comes out of general taxation. But don’t get me started about potholes!
Hating people due to their form of transport. Mental.
There's plenty of cars that don't stop at red lights as well as drive on pavements, not to mention driving without insurance, tax and MOT
Absolutely, but with improved camera and other technology, the police are catching more of them here in the UK.
The JK show had the same effect on people.
I quite enjoyed this interview. The interviewee was articulate and agreeable
Unlike the guests on his past talk show.
Oh gawd...
No drivers pay Road Tax, its a vehicle tax, road maintenance comes out of council tax etc...
Also me personally pay insurance, with 2 million liability.
Which is worthless unless you can be identified. You wish to use the infrastructure to propel yourself by mechanical means, then contribute to that infrastructure you use!
Therefore those not paying council tax shouldn’t be using roads by your analogy.
Vehicle tax actually goes to the government for distribution, the point is cyclists pay NOTHING!
@@historex54tamiyaso cyclists don't live anywhere so don't pay council tax, nor do they have to eat so they don't pay any vat , not do the 83 percent of adult cyclists who drive pay any for of vehicle tax or tax on the fuel they use, what rubbish you talk!
@@keithbrowes1974 You are being selective on your false justification. Let’s say SOME cyclists pay council tax and SOME cyclists pay vehicle tax. I have no clue why you even mentioned or connected food VAT came from, probably that crazy mind of yours. So using your analogy, those WITHOUT a car should get council tax reduction, rubbish. You know full well cyclists are using privileges they do not pay for and riding on the backs of car drivers
@@historex54tamiya. Cyclists (aka ordinary people on bicycles) aren't on mechanically propelled vehicles. So your point falls
Road tax is priced on emissions
Cycling whilst wearing headphones should be banned. They are alienating themselves from their surroundings and make the whole situation extremely dangerous
Yeah good luck with that 😏
It's a stupid thing to do and I cycle. I rely on my hearing to keep myself safe and know when it's wise to indicate a turn when out on the bike.
Italy and Portugal however take a different stance, requiring that cyclists wear just one earphone whilst cycling, with a penalty of approximately €160 if you’re wearing both earphones whilst cycling in Italy. 😁😁👍👍👍👍 the time will come
It is Spain and other European countries
No..They should have their volume turned down so can hear their surroundings...!!
I certainly think cyclists should pay insurance. They're definitely in as many accidents as car users and cause plenty of accidents.
Most cyclists I encounter while out running or walking on the canal towpath, I would award the Nobell Prize, not only for not sounding one but actually not having one.
I get so fed up of counting the mindless motorists who do not obey the laws of the road particulary the red light jumping that goes on when they thump the heavy right foot down on the accelerator rather than just slow down and stop as the law
requires, another pet hate is when i am driving my car and the sign says 30 MPH for that stretch and then someone comes right upto my bumper trying to force me over the speed limit,i come down a stretch of road where there is a nasty left hand bend and the signs say 40 mph and i slow down before the sign and some idiots decide not to slow down so race past doing well over 40 mph in order to get to the bend first but are not able to see what the situation is around the bend.
I’m off the generation where not inconveniencing others is a major factor, that idea had gone out the window as everyone appears to be setting out to inconvenience everyone. The roads are for the free convenient movement of all
Cambridge is driving hell. Cyclists there out number cars it always feels like
Get a bike
Looks a good road.
I've been run down in Cambridge 3 times. Once by a traveller in a white van and twice by women cutting me up on a mini-roundabout.
I saw the almost completed new main ''roundabout' on Milton Road in Cambridge today, it has so many lanes and traffic lights road users will not know where to look, I give it a week before someone is seriously hurt, as for the Milton Road 'improvements' as a whole, they were originally estimated to cost 24 million, but are already millions over budget, money that would have been better spent repairing the hundreds of cavernous suspension and tyre destroying potholes, and don't get me started on the 'roadworks' all over the city that have been ongoing for months with little or no progress 🙄
You mean Elizabeth Way, the one that they said wouldn't have lights, but now has lights?
The amount io times I have nearly been run down by bikes going at hugh speed and on pavements. They just expect yoi to jump out of the way
Cyclists also use phones while riding. Is the distraction any less for them than it is for drivers? And if “most cyclists are also drivers” shouldn’t those cyclist/drivers be getting points on their licences for using a phone while cycling?
Drivers never jump the traffic lights.
You obviously don’t drive in Stoke on Trent.
If you've never seen a car jump a red light may I suggest a visit to Specsavers as you obviously can't see properly
Not as many as cyclists do
Okay, I’m a bike rider and have been for many years we can all point fault at each other for example half the people who drive cars these days shouldn’t even be allowed to ride a tricycle they are a danger to their self and to everybody else around them why do they insist to drive their car one-handed and being on their mobile phone texting etc etc it doesn’t matter if bike users payed road tax or not because people who drive will still cut them up, and treat them like second-class citizens the fact is cars kill and that is how most of the accidents happen on the road because the drivers are too interested in being on their mobile phones seeing if they hair is right drinking their cappuccino or playing their music then doing what they should be doing is driving a car responsibly
Cyclists…..Ex golfers, BMW & Audi drivers…say no more.
I've seen plenty of cyclists texting or using a phone.
I never give away to a Power Ranger
Im a cyclist i do not hate drivers so why do you encourage people to hate us
There are probably annoying cyclists on the road, but annoying car drivers outnumber them by far.
Surprised to not have mentioned the ultra bright flashing lights bike have, which are a blinding distraction
Same as cars then.
I would add reckless electric scooter riders into this issue too and the emphasis does have to be on RECKLESS, as opposed to RESPONSIBLE riders, the latter of whom I don't mind.
This infuriates me. There is no road tax. You do not have to sit in a car. I live on a one way street - there are cars deliberately going up it the wrong way because it is easier to get to the shops. I see cars going through red lights all the time (just up the road from the Histon Road junction shown in the video is a roundabout at the A14 - you will see drivers go through a red light every time the lights change - I got run down by one). Only a minority you will say - same for cyclists. Oh, and we are as mad at just eat and deliveroo cyclists as anybody else is.
Save us from the Mamils.
Cycle paths are pointless when only a few use it,what a waste of money
Most are strewn with take away meal rubbish and bottles deliberatly thrown from cars that is why they are not used, the small area on the road with a line painted down it so called path for cycling is most of the time where cars are parked anyway.
Walkers and runners also use them.
I think they think they own the road, running us pedestrians over
I assume you are talking about cars that kill an average of 36 pedestrians a year and injured many others
Of course Andrew Grant is intelligent: that was a masterclass in getting across the points he wanted to make without rising to the baits of an interviewer with his own agenda and getting him engaged despite himself.
Clevedon to Portishead every Sunday morning, say no more.
I used to live in Clevedon.
Many modern day cyclists are ex golfers so what do expect.😂
When my 44 ton artic has the loud audible "This vehicle is turning left" warning sounding and clearly indicating in advance there's always one brain dead cyclist who comes up the blind side, ignoring the warnings clearly marked on the trailer of the dangers, then blame the HGV driver for not seeing them when they are obviously in our blind spot. Yet you never get a motorcycle do it. Why? Because you cyclists never had lessons in roadcraft and are devoid of common sense.
I pay for 'road tax' for my car, I also have to pay 'road tax' for my motorbike.
No such thing as road tax. You pay vehicle excise duty which is just a way of robbing the motorist. Very little of it goes to keep up the roads, just goes towards anything the government want.
Hello, road tax applies to vehicles, if you have a car as well then why is the cycle not taxed?
Maybe because it isn't a motorised vehicle, but you may have a point regarding the increased popularity of electric bikes.
I have a balance disability which means I can never ride a bike.
Another expensive piece of infrastructure that “they don’t have to use unless they want to”.
Like motorways then...
JK's argument has more holes than a sieve. He's a smart man, his point is for nothing other than exposure and controversy. He can be shot down at almost every point, and in almost every point he makes can be reversed towards some car drivers. As for his "Gopro" statement......dash cams, the countless UA-cam channels dedicated to such things? He's a sensationalist, causing division for media stardom and cheap laughs.
I thought all cyclists were called Mickey.
All push bikes should have a bell or horn fitted + be banned from main roads
Can you not drive
Cars and bikes dont mix well. Simple
For goodness sake Jezza , get off your knees man, it, embarrassing Sir.😂😂😂😂
Its on individual basis as a cyclist and prodiomantly a motorist i totally get being stuck behind 2 or 3 abreast you should single out and yes i think some cyclists are not old school and definitely up thereselves they dont even speak when passing. But people like our jezza i love who just want to get out there car and start on the 3 of us who go out for a ride complying and being courteous all three of us have boxed for years before cycling and 2 of us were solid amateurs at a good level so if we are looking to get gripped by some aggressive driver its only going one way.
how much did that cost the tax payer?
Cyclists don't pay road tax on their bicycle.
Road tax is paid on the vehicle not the rider/driver.
Most cyclist but not all, own and drive cars. So this perception that those that ride bikes don't pay road tax is misguided.
@@stevep2430 but it is correct that you don't pay vehicle excise duty for a bicycle.
@@Thunderbloke2 How much wear and tear does a bike do to road infrastructure compared to a car or truck and now the heavier EV? When vehicles were less of mode of transport that the common people could afford and bicycles were a more common form of transport, they had to have a licence and for the same reason motor vehicles do now, revenue.
@@stevep2430 how much infrastructure is being dedicated to bicycles?
How much wear and tear does a small motorcycle cause?
It's not about wear and tear, VED is an excise duty and should be applied consistently to all transport.
@@Thunderbloke2 How much? Not much, if there was, car and bicycle traffic would be separated and everybody would be living in their happy little bubble. Well maybe not because, the car driver will still be throwing abuse at the next car driver when they are trapped in traffic jams.
Bikes before cars , , , , anyday .🚲
By that argument, I should only have to pay one set of road tax, one set of car insurance - no matter how many cars I own. Andrew Grant won't acknowledge that cyclists constantly flout the rules putting themselves in danger, only to complain about the conduct of car drivers and demand roads and traffic laws are changed to the detriment of car drivers.
It's your problem if you own multiple vehicles that you have to tax and insure, not a cyclists fault, just remember that vehicle tax does nit go directly to pay for roads
@@keithbrowes1974Then the cyclists should be paying road tax and insurance
Make them pay road tax and insurance

@@keithbrowes1974 you know exactly what he was meaning....and if I got 10 cars I got to pay 10 individual car tax...so if you g it a bike you should have to pay tax get insurance too
But older cars, tractors, ev's etc don't pay tax so why should push bikes?
@@denisjones7836they will next year 😂😂😂😂
like car drivers speeding parking all over payments running red lights racing the list goes on .they are good cyclists and bad cyclists like good car drivers and bad car drivers
Dangerous road users are dangerous road users. The larger the vehicle they are travelling in/on the more dangerous they are.
yes cars and car drivers can be and are irresponsible. many people are killed and injured on the road however car drivers are required by law to carry insurance! That should be mandatory for all road users. Everyone using the road regardless of the kind of transport should carry identification plates and have to and must be insured!
So someone crossing the road or walking down a country lane with no pavement should carry registration plates and carry insurance 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Give it a rest and moan about something else
How can you tax a cycle when it emits no emissions
I have a car which i tax each year at £165 so i can use the roads by what method i choose
So there

Why are all these articles coming out about cyclist. We need more biking infrastructures. If bikers are going on pavements it probably means the bike roads are not very good or biking on roads with cars are safe.
crap, cyclists just ignore rules or they have not learnt to read
Sensible. Many of the cycle lanes around Cambridge are full of litter (the kind that gives you a puncture) or dog walkers or are overgrown.
Blah blah blah blah. Car drivers jump red lights. Cyclists don’t damage the roads.
Tbh J. K is just as annoying to huge amounts of people 😂
What a poor interviewer who loves throwing about around preposterous prepositions without allowing any time for any responses….. it’s a shame the interviewee avoided being similarly rude and obnoxious to the host.
How can you compare drive damge to cycling damge because they just ride off an the damge is mostly not recorded because there's no way to track them down. The the stupid point he made about well most cyclists are motorists so they pay road tax anyway. I drive a car I pay tax Ive got a motorbike I pay tax if you were lucky enough to have a weekend car you pay tax. We pay road tax for ever mode of transport we have so you should pay for a bike to

Perfect example of pigeon holing those your biased against….auto drivers should pay for a re-test every few years if you ask me…and a higher degree of vigilance from the testers of whose actually standing in front of them would be a start…there’s a lot more autos and the cowboy drivers far out do the total of all cyclists. Law breaking cyclists should be prosecuted in the same way as all road users…and abusers…but wrong to tar all with the same brush…and yes, I’d agree to a roadworthy test for road using cyclists and a registration and some form of insurance payment, for example those that travel into major cities would pay a higher premium than say a cyclist in the suburbs and remains within the boundary…at the end of the day WE ALL dislike roadway abusers, speedsters, cars, slow mo’s, white van bod, black taxis, buses, pedestrians and yes cyclists.
Law breaking cyclists are NEVER prosecuted. I challenged the "police" when I was given "notice of prosecution for driving without due care and attention" - the police refused to give me the helmet cam footage of the cyclist (amongst a number of breaches of road traffic law) so I had the fabricated case thrown out. Upon further investigation it turns out the cyclist "has form" for constantly and maliciously trying to have innocent motorists prosecuted. Had I not found this out and challenged the police I would have been wrongfully prosecuted.
