Only Phil X can take a Beer Bottle and make a Guitar sing. This is why he is the Lead Guitar Player for Bon Jovi & is in Constant Demand by so many other Great Artists of Our Time. This is Rock 'n Roll at it's Finest.
Led Zeppelin needed two people to do the guitar and vocals. Phil X does it all. Also the drummer and the bassist have perfect tone and know the song really well. Best Led Zeppelin cover I've ever seen.
@dogdudeDOTca thanks man. this is Paul the drummer . We didn't know who that guy was. That was totally spontaneous and cool. What's also funny is I played with Paul Woods in my very first band around 1982. say hi for me. thanks for posting. good job again Rocky.
I love this man I love his musical talent knowledge and experience I have followed the maniac and put lots of people on to Phil X and everyone loves u Phil.. U are so fucking cool and I love that you take the piss out of life and just keep doing what you do best and that is entertaining people like me
phil x kicks ass, best tone from a les paul i swear, sounds just like page's les paul. the quality of this song cover is top stuff, love the improvised beer bottle slides, and the solo was just AMAZING. the whole band did an amazing cover :)
Phil has a different Whole Lotta Love solo done with his iphone on stage instead of slide. Check out the Guitar Clinic Video..."Phil X - Guitar Clinic (Part 3) iphone apps"
Usually when you go through his videos in Fretted Americana you'll randomly find one where he really demonstrates his skill. Search for "PhilX does insane hendrix" for an example. He rarely shows all of his skill with the guitar. He's a very consistent guitar player, and rarely makes mistakes, or even sounds different to the album.
Two things you need to bring to help Phil X out when he’s playing guitar 🎸 1) an empty Coke can when needs some cowbell for Mississippi Queen 2) a Beer bottle for slide tones.😎🤘🎸
This was a great cover.... But as usual the "professional" UA-cam critics show up and let us know what's wrong with this. Thank goodness they're here to let me know why the drummer sucks or Phil can't sing.
Exactly: I have the same Les Paul model that Phil's playing in this video, it is an Heritage Series Standard 80-Elite, from 1980-82, and when I opened it to clean a scratchy pot I found 300k volumes and 100k tone controls! I was disappointed because everybody seems to reccomend 500k pots with Les Pauls, but that tone, is so damn close to the classic recordings IMO! It can be a dark guitar and a little muddy with clean tones\modulation\effects, but when you crank a Marshall and hear that tone you KNOW it sounds right! ;) It's not an accurate replica of a '59 Burst (R9 Les Pauls are much closer) but, I don't know how, this guitar has the TONE of a vintage Les Paul! The ebony fretboard is a plus! :)
Many people say he's greatest. And that is why people consider Slash overrated. I believe I rate him correctly, but he's still also my favorite guitarist.
Well, Slash is famous for the way he can make his guitar sound. Phil has that technical aspect where he knows his stuff really well, but still, you gotta have that unique sound that people love, which is what slash has.
Boo incorrect. Tele was used for all electric parts of Led Zep 1. All of Zep 2 was Les Paul. 3rd album onward incorporated a mix of electric guitars, but relied heavy on the Les Paul. Most notable Tele moment of later albums was the solo on Stairway to Heaven.

Go look up Danny Gatton for some beer bottle slide. He does it with a towel because the beer is full. Amazing guitarist. He's dead now.

phil x kicks ass, best tone from a les paul i swear, sounds just like page's les paul. the quality of this song cover is top stuff, love the improvised beer bottle slides, and the solo was just AMAZING. the whole band did an amazing cover :)

Cousin, you rock!
FINALLY! A cover band worth watching. Played in bands (doing this exact song) and I am pickey about the ways music is played. THIS BAND ROCKS!
My uncle does the solo with a cassette tape. Coolest thing I have ever seen!
I got a GuitarPlayer mag from the early 90's where Page talks about the gear used on all of Zep's albums.
I love the bouncing of the hi-hats on the verses. So simple, but makes it sound so fucking good!
s..t! if we only had cover players like Phil in Italy, I would be the happiest guy in this world!
when I saw a new video of phil I was like fuck yeah!
I wouldn't say hes the greatest but he is my favorite guitar player.
i have to admit, Phil has by fer the hottest voice out of everyone. its so freakin good.
LOL at the drummers face :D, love the vid great playing
wow he can sing soooooooooooo well he just steals all the talent in the world;)
That was so kick ass
Phil X + Gibson Les Paul = Rock N´ Roll ...

Dat tone!
@andeegreen You missed him touring in the UK with Dorje last month! I think they're doing another European tour later this year though.
WOWWWW
VERY GOOD"
amazing sustain on that les paul
I love the random dude that gets the mic at 3:45 :D
Süppppppeeer ...
Two things you need to bring to help Phil X out when he’s playing guitar 🎸 1) an empty Coke can when needs some cowbell for Mississippi Queen 2) a Beer bottle for slide tones.😎🤘🎸
OK - That was fucking incredible!
@iAussieGuy Make sure you check out Guitar Clinic Three for other solo options on Whole Lotta Love using your iphone
A Genius
@rockynashfilms You are professional. Like Leon. :)
fucking nice ! like the original ! Phil you are awesome !
phil Rules
For Sure, Thanks for watching
Phil X = GOD
@slash11833 He was not using it at that time. Did on the last show.
This was a great cover.... But as usual the "professional" UA-cam critics show up and let us know what's wrong with this. Thank goodness they're here to let me know why the drummer sucks or Phil can't sing.
Budweiser.The slide of the champions...
le drummer est du tonnerre!
@davizin1 Joe Perry uses one now during part of the Aerosmith show, which is cool.
fucking amazing shit! totally.
@rockynashfilms oh! ok thanks, but does it mean that the first songs wasn't as raspy as the others!?
Are these set of vids from a DVD Phil X has put together? Seems very professionaly done and put together
Do you sell a DVD of this show or at least a download? It's legendary.
Yess, mister Phil. X... 😂 😂
dude his voice was shot and about to give out here i think. its increadable that he made it through this song
@f15ceagle2341 a 1980 Gibson les paul heritage :)
@rockynashfilms a set and a half?? sorry, i didn't get that, im spanish...
Takes balls to cover this song, especially the vocals. Robert Plant's voice is not to be fucked with. Nice job.
@rockynashfilms What Gibson Les Paul is that?
2:44 that moment ohhhhhh!
@otporan channel feeds from the board to recorder, and remixed.
いい叫び🎉
@Tunarimmyjay a couple? that's not bad considering this was the first time we ever played together and had absolutely no rehearsal.
lol, lou at 2:25 messin with the guitar :P
Lou works at my local music store
Is that a traditional? beautiful
Heard something about October, but not sure.
2:43 THAT FACE HAHAHAHAHA
guy @ 3:45 is amazing!!!!!!
Pretty fuckin cool man......
I love the way he strokes his guitar in the bride.
Anybody knows if Phil has stock pots in that Les Paul? 300k volume and 100k tone? Thanks...
mrkite89 sounds stock to me, I use 300k pots and they seem to get me pretty close to the jimmy page tone
Exactly: I have the same Les Paul model that Phil's playing in this video, it is an Heritage Series Standard 80-Elite, from 1980-82, and when I opened it to clean a scratchy pot I found 300k volumes and 100k tone controls! @Kido4Life Not yet but perhaps later this year
JYEAH! A BEER BOTTLE SOLO! Haha
Many people say he's greatest. And that is why people consider Slash overrated. I believe I rate him correctly, but he's still also my favorite guitarist.
It was mixed from a recording from the board.
@rafauleciaelcarpio He sang for a long time before this song and was a bit raspy because of it.
Well, Slash is famous for the way he can make his guitar sound. Phil has that technical aspect where he knows his stuff really well, but still, you gotta have that unique sound that people love, which is what slash has.
Hey man! How did you record the sound?
4:11 DONT CUP THE MIC!!!
and what about his app ?!
IF ANYONE KNOWS OF PHIL X PLAYING IN THE UK/EUROPE, PLEASE INBOX ME!
I NEED TO SEE THIS GUY LIVE BEFORE I DIE! THANKS
