Mine just arrived and I cannot wait to hit the trails with it!!!
Brad,
Great review! Based on your review, once the snow is done plugging up the roads, I'll be headed to Hobby Town for my red SCC10 III Wrangler. Thanks again!!
I liked the Orange so much I had to get one to go with my Gray one. Coming from AMain this week. Thanks AMain for the great video and having them in stock.
The scale 'detail' on this RC truck is great. But I'm not paying $500 for 2-speeds and a DIG I do NOT want. I finally had to pull the DIG's servo plug and zip-tie the transmission in constant 4WD on my RTR Capra it was such a problematic 'feature'. And I want/need a 2nd gear like I want/need a gaping hole in my head. K I S S and price it 'much' closer to $400 and I'll be more than interested. A very informative review, KUDOS.
That truck is sick!!!
For the trx4 you can also use a 1/16 lipo on the plate in front of the servo. This adds weight in the front.
but not in the defender or tactical.
I mean you could always just stick a brass weight or sum in the front to give it that left/right weight balance 🤷♂️
Love that Protek 1800 I had the 4300 but it lasted too long on my use. The size and weight make it perfect for crawling plus you can keep 1 or 2 with you to easily swap since its so light.
It's a great pack indeed. That was my first time using it and after around 40 minutes of driving the cells were still 3.9V.
-Brett
love the crawler videos
6:03 Dear Brett, please give us more zingers like this. Didnt expect to get a laugh out of an rc video. great video guys
Ha. Glad you like it man!
-Brett
You can always use sticky weights to level out the balance. Also before mounting the tires you can put the sticky weights on the inside on rim. Also waterproof. Will keep the truck on all 4s
I just started watching reviews from you guys!. Very well made videos!. It got me wanting to get into RC crawling!. Though I cannot afford them!. They are damn expensive!.
Get an Axial scx24 like the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon they are only around $135 with everything you need - truck, controller, battery and charger - just charge your battery and have fun!
I love mine - fun inside house and fun outside 🙂
Love mine, but that little dig servo blew up loudly the very first time I pressed the button, and the Reefs 99 I’m replacing it with has been stuck in snail mail for almost two weeks now. I still haven’t actually been able to try the dig out, lol.
I did add wheel weights, and swapped the shock oil to 60wt, but otherwise I’ve been happy to keep it stock so far. I need to add a light bar before the days get short, because those headlights don’t throw much light by themselves, but that’s more personal preference than it is a necessity.
Dang, sorry to hear about that servo. The DIG unit is a great addition to the truck. Hope the new servo arrives soon!
-Brett
Really wish they would make a kit version that includes all the electronics. I just want to build it and put it together myself.
How’s it going? You ever build it?
No I haven’t. Really want to just can’t afford right now.
Im waiting for a truck version. Good looking jeep though!!
Theirs already a clear Gladiator body you can buy look on Google scx10iii clear bodies yur welcome 👍
A non jeep body lol
Thank's Brett great review I'm getting my 1st Jeep rc now 😎👍
Ho oui! Ça vaut un "thumbs Up". Merci beaucoup pour la bonne vidéo 👍👍👍
Always love your work Brett. 👍
2021 bronco body would be awesome on the scx10 iii!
Awesome RC vehicle 👍
I wish I could have one 👍
Check waiting to they fix all little bugs and then I'll by one also have to thin the heard a little 27cars and counting of all ranges my kids have all they'll need lol keep up great work and have a great day
Brett I am all thumbs at times .....great video....
Brett - Do you know if Spektrum will have any Smart mini-lipos like the mini ProTec battery you were using in this video?
No, I have no info on that.
-Brett
Actually if you go through the endpoint selection for the dig you can make it hold on with just a tap. Its how i have mine set up. Its not too hard to figure out
Very Very nice indeed..!! But, for the same price (499.99) I ended up getting
The green Land Rover D90 Heritage 2015 pickup truck AND it Came with a battery & charger
I was Going to get it from you guys but they are on back order... No worries, I found one 😎👍 But, if not, I would have gotten THIS Jeep 👍✅
Can it take 6s lipo like Kevin Talbot did to the Trx4 LOL!! Great video trying to decide on a crawler between Trx4 and Trx4 Sport both got pros and cons!:)
Nice..wait for slider if there is one in the future..cut the cost further ..😁
Excellent video , as always!
A little pricey but nice. Very nice.
buy a trx-4 or wait for V2 of the SCX10 III RTR....
@deezomaxima just subbed up bro 👍🏻💯
This is a great rtr, but axial failed with the dig servo big time. Mine failed on the first run. Axial should have prioritized the 2 speed option over the dig on the rtr. Also the transmission seems to be overly complex for a trail truck. Just saying!
And I can vouch for that sx107 being not waterproof. My mini t 2.0 runs the same for its steering servo. It took a jump into a lake and was toast after that lol
I love the way he says "The SCX10 III" Brett if you read this I am not making fun of you:)
:)

@@AMain_Hobbies 👍
Love your channel! I recently purchased the SCX10 III Gladiator and am trying to put the ESS sound emulator in it. There is no throttle plug to hook the y cable to with the Spektrum Firma40 combo. Any suggestions?
You need the receiver wire from the ESC to connect into the Y. Unplug the ESC receiver wire, plug it into the Y connector, then connect the other end of the Y into the same port on the receiver. That should do it.
-Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies Only wires coming off the Firma 40 is one set to the front servo, a set of fat wires to the motor, the battery connector wire, servo wire to dig servo and two light leads that come out the side of the Firma. No other wires that I see. The only open plug connections on the unit are one for prg and 1 aux.
Thanks I just ordered the same truck. Need to know more about all the stuff on the radio. Like what that door for on top of the radio? Thanks ART
I’m not 100% sure, but I think the door is for installation of a Bluetooth module, for sending telemetry data to a phone app. There’s mention of an optional Bluetooth module in a few places, and there’s definitely a port under the door for plugging something into mine, but I’m just guessing really.
If I'm not mistaken, the compartment under the door on the radio will be for an upcoming Bluetooth module, to send telemetry data wirelessly to the Spektrum Dashboard app on a mobile phone. I don't think the module is out yet, though. The app, which currently works with the DX2E, will likely need an update to work with this radio, or maybe will have a new app altogether (but who knows? Maybe it will work as is). Of course, if you switch over to a DX5 series radio with the SMART support, all that telemetry data support is already built into the radio.
That makes sense. There is only one port under there and it's a 3 prong receiver port for something to plug in.
-Brett
So it’s really not waterproof…. Cause of the mini servo for the dig. Is the TRX 4 100% waterproof ?
The mini servos included with the TRX4 are classified as waterproof.
-Brett
there is one difference between the RTR and the KIT version. In the RTR there is'nt a Receiver box😉
Are bearings used in the rtr like in kit? In previous versions bushings are used in the rtr
Yes, all bearings used throughout.
-Brett
What is up with Axial and JEEPS almost every crawler has a jeep body LOL
#tiredofjeepbodies
I think it’s because they already paid for licensing and are getting their money’s worth
Jeeps are the best offroad/crawlers nothing can compare
@@NicoBarchak Thats your opinion :)
It has been proven I look at the facts before I speak so
Is normal to hear some noices wile driving .Like in the gear box ?
Yeah, a little noise is normal. If you hear metal gears grinding, it will be unmistakable. If there is only a light issue, you may hear a click sound, as the gear spins around and around. But if it is only noise, you can add grease inside the gearbox to help smoothen, and quiet the gears; this can help: www.amainhobbies.com/protek-rc-premier-white-friction-noise-reducing-gear-grease-lubricant-10ml-ptk-1412/p469153
Hope that helps.
-Brett
Great review Brett! Thanks! I got the grey one. You said orange. Is that thing orange? I swore it was red. Lol good work man
It looks more red to me too, but Axial calls it orange.
-Brett
AMain Hobbies hey Bret I’m an influencer with Horizon and Hobbyzone along with a few others but, I don’t have anywhere to send people for Traxxas. Who runs your affiliate program?
Looks good but ide rather buy a trx4,its less expensive and its an awesomely,Unstoppable crawler.
@deezomaxima Thats why i dont buy upgrades made by Traxxas. I always go for rpm for the parts and savox or hobbywing for electeonics. I love Traxxas vehicles.
Can you guys do a review on the redcat kaiju
The only thing l have found is the dig servo gives up after 2 or 3 uses and there no repayment right now . All outher is good so fair.
Can you please do a video on how to get the two speed working? Love the vids!
There are probably some good videos here on UA-cam that cover that topic. You essentially need to open up the transmission, remove the spacer locking the shifter so it can slide back and forth into both gears, and then reassemble and add your servo. Then set your trims and endpoints for that servo and you should be good to go.
-Brett
Is it possible to bind the dx5 rugged to the esc/receiver combo?
Yes, that should work.
-Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies Thank you! I appreciate the quick response
I confirmed that the Dx5 Rugged binds to the stock Scx10 iii esc/receiver.
Didnt amain do a video on the traxxas trx4 that shows its weight on a scale? I can't find that video. Can someone help
No I don't think we've done that, although the TRX4 product page at our website has a weight listed. What model of the TRX4 are you interested in? The different models will have slightly different weights.
-Brett
Can you Do videos on other rtr brands like kyosho and serpent.
Do a review on the jeep gladiator version
Decal Sheet.. There is nowhere that shows where the Decals are positioned on the body anywhere??
I tried my river jet 4s batts in my scx10 jeep, but only the steering works, no throttle 🤔🤔🤔 does that mean the battery is underpowered??
If your ESC isn't rated for 4s, then it won't drive.
Justin D. Davis ty for that, im new to the new generation of rc stuff, Yeah I have these left over from my river jet boat I will have to buy a battery to fit it then thank you
Like Justin mentioned, if the ESC isn't rated for 4S use, the truck won't work. Unfortunately, if this is the case, the ESC may have been damaged.
-Brett
is the esc/reciver is waterproof?
cool
Nice Bro!!
your cap! like it! where can i get it?
The AMain hat? This one: www.amainhobbies.com/amain-trucker-hat-w-gears-logo-black-one-size-fits-most-amn2006/p394186?v=301023
-Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies i buyed same hat too!!
Does this mean they are going to release the full set of AR45s
I hope so, I want a set for my vs410 with the VFD transmission
Sick 🔥🔥🔥👌
Does it only come with the Jeep body? cheers
For now. Down the road I imagine other body options will be available.
-Brett
SOLD! ...The ghost of Billy Mays will haunt you!
I’m new to this RC game - can anyone explain to me how RTR means literally ready to run out of the box, but sometimes means you get everything in the box, apart from the motor and some other inside electronics? Or am I mistaken? Thanks.
Some models are assembled with electronics, and we call those RTR. Some models come assembled but lack all electronics; we call those "rollers." You need to add your own electronics to a roller, but not with a RTR; even though both are pre-assembled. Hope that answers your question!
-Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies hey, cool. Thanks so much for the helpful info. Have a good one.
Wheel/axle extenders for the gladiator version...omfg please.
I am a relative novice. I love the look of this truck. How do you compare this SCX10 to the REDCAT GEN 8 SCOUT II AXE EDITION as far as performance?
Did anyone else see the mirror at 0:17
No
I have a question on what type of new Traxxas I should get please leave your honest opinions below
I'd go UDR for the looks and cool suspension or a Maxx for jumping and wheelies; depends on the driving you like to do more though.
-Brett
i'm getting this for my birthday, is it good? if someone have any experience with this rc, let me know
Oh yeah, it's great. Happy Birthday!
-Brett
I have a redcat everest 16! anybody recommend my first 1/10 crawler?
@Castle Bravo I actually already ordered a gem7! super excited!
Impressive RTR (& I was gonna buy it) it's just let down by not having the 2 speed out the box, & essentially having to upgrade the transmitter, receiver, ESC (not to mention an additional servo) to have it with the dig function with the 2 speed. Poor decision from Horizon so I bought the TRX4 RTR.
The orange looks red
First!
What have I won?
LoL
Berikan padaku 🤤🤤🤤
Not to trash on you, but I hate when companys say there truck's are 100% rtr and doesn't come with a battery or charger. THAT IS NOT 100% RTR!
Well its like most things we buy they say batteries not included. They have RTRs with battery kits or ones without so we can save on kit for those of us who have many batteries at home.
@@marccyberwiz good point. Not to trash on RC's though as I love the hobby. Got two myself. An FTX kanyon and a hsp monster truck. Love them both. And I'm on my way to getting a third. A drifter or a nitro.
@@marccyberwiz I also subbed to your channel
I understand. It's mainly a shipping issue because of how LiPo's are considered hazardous and an additional fee is attached to the shipment of a LiPo, which would jack up the price of the truck. Thanks for the subscription!
-Brett
Hey mate can you make a video about....what is RC cars because my father didn't buy me an RC...
It's not orange...
Freaking horror-izon's dig servo smoked within powerup. Stock everything. Manufacturers NEED to RUN away from horizon!!!
@deezomaxima
Horizon OWNS spektrum there "feller". Do YOUR research. Think BEFORE opening the mouth.
@@old-rcplane-phart Maybe you should LEARN to not RANDOMLY type words capitalized for NO reason, little buddy.
Hiiiiiiii
No it's not. NO RC car is worth that kind of money... The RC world is out of control with their prices... Saying it's worth every penny just because they didn't skimp out on the basic parts is insane. Lol. You can't even use the dig and 2 speed with the included controller... Even Traxxas includes a 4 channel controller for the 2 speed AND diff locks. Axial is outta their dang minds...
No RC car is worth $500? You must be joking. It ain't 1985 any more.
@@NP-ux9xg lol. You're right. It's not 1985 anymore. This is old tech. So it should be DRASTICALLY cheaper. Trash like you is why the RC world thinks they CAN charge these kind of prices for 1985 tech. If these things consisted of some ultra fancy, ultra expensive tech. Then sure. The prices would be justified. But this is the same crap that's been out for decades. Nothings changed except for the body design.
affordable cuz don't have that much that I am willing to spend
Italy 600€!!!!!Nooooo
Sec
Nice review. But I always find it hard to 100% believe reviews from stores that sell the product they review.
Crawling = chess, long and boring
Your Mom = checkers, quick and easy
You're probably better off with a kite or something simple like that. Chess involves brains, so you'd probably be disqualified.
I just don't see 500 dollars for all that plastic! I'll stick with rc4wd every thing is metal and the body is plastic not lexan! Rc4wd for the win !
Haha $500 nope
