They are a beautiful plant ,same happened to me,from a tall climber I ended with trailing cuttings,👍,hope both of our micans do become very happy plants!yes yours is very cute already! 💚🌱🌵☘️💚
I've started over three times with the halo micans. Mine are just trailing down so the leaves are still small, but they're all variegated because I removed all the reverted leaves.
I have a ton of it in a prop box in perlite and Stratum. It's been growing pretty good. I think I'm going to let it go all winter and then pot it in a hanging basket in the spring!
Luna reminds me of Gracie a kitten I found in the middle of a busy road in the middle of winter her ears were frostbitten and the vet took the rest of them off she could barely eat was scared to go outside but she was the sweetest kitten I don’t know why people just throw animals out she was differently to little to get there by herself but me being a sucker for of animals I brought her home and she lived until she was 19 😊 p.s I have more tc plants coming the first ones are doing great so far 😊
I’d like to hop in on this train and say I’d also enjoy a Hoya vid 🙏🏼 you can literally just show your huge Krimson and I’d be happy lol found root mealys in some of my new ones so I’m feeling a lil down 😢
That's a very delicate sweet plant, I think it's the right decision to have a trailing basket as well...fingers crossed for your wetsticks! Another great video ty xx
Love the Micans and yes the Halo I have tends to look cute but still sparse. It will fill in really good full pot. Of course you had to give it a try on a moss pole. You are a moss pole queen 👑! 💖
Thank you for providing this video. I’ve been thinking about converting a scrawny looking moss pole micans philodendron, but was hesitant. You’ve taught me so much! I didn’t realize roots could dry rot 😱 and I didn’t realize there could be dead nodes that have already put out growth. I didn’t realize it was ok to trim the roots from cuttings. Wow! Thanks so much! ❤❤❤
I literally just finished taking down one of my plants on a moss pole and then seen the notification on my phone for this video 😅 What a coincidence. Lol.
@@plantsbymelissa I took apart my Adansonii Narrow Form. It was just one long vine and I started it as an experiment, but with how fast those plants grow and how much internodal spacing they have I fell out of love with the idea of having it on a moss pole. The plant I took the vine from is currently growing up my wall and I love the look of that. The vine on the moss pole ended up rooting at the base and directly in the middle so I was able to chop it in half and have 2 rooted pieces to stick back into the original plants pot. So I was happy with the end result overall. I'm glad you ended up happy with yours as well. 😁 It also just wasn't rooting at all of the nodes, instead the nodes were rotting off. So weird. I still have my marble queen on a pole and I will never take that one down. Lol. I checked on it and it's actually rooting wonderfully into the pole. Woo hoo!!
I enjoyed watching, and it’s an interesting dilemma because I have a tendency to avoid climbers that need poles. (I have a giant Monstera with two moss poles that don’t really seem to benefit the plant as much as I thought they would.) I have two😊 Micans, a beautiful bronze, which seems to grow faster, and a regular one. I have them on trellises, but some of the bits seem to want to trail and that’s fine also.💗
I have always loved philodendron micans but I’m super fearful to purchase a halo for these exact reasons of variegation and also selfishly wanting it to have more outer white! I appreciate it in others collections but I think I would struggle with it in mine but you definitely make me want to invest in a cutting just to see what happens! I love the trailing decision with it forsure! Your literally my favorite person and definitely one that influences me! 👏🏼😂
Did you ever make an update video on this? I wanna know how the cuttings and wet sticks did! Did any of the reverts get the halo variegation back? It’s so weird to me that I can’t find any examples of mature halo micans specimens. Yours is probably the largest I’ve seen. Are they that unstable?
I will reuse it for some of my props that I am keeping for me or if it's for wetsicks but I don't do anything with it 😬 you could definitely boil it to sanitize it but that's too much for me to do lol.
I´m not sure about the "dead node". I remember the epipremnum that you got online with a "dead node" and it grows very well. And I think I also cutted twice at some nodes and they also shooted again. Plants are amazing and I think they can reshoot even is the node was already activated?
Hi Melissa, this was a really great video to share with us..would you be able to send a link to the fluval stratum you use? I’m in Ontario Canada Niagara Falls and can’t find this.. ThankYou so much ❤
hi, I get mine off of amazon us but I am not sure about Canada :) Here's what I get: www.amazon.com/dp/B00JGQIY48?linkCode=ssc&tag=onamzmeli0992-20&creativeASIN=B00JGQIY48&asc_item-id=amzn1.ideas.1OODWALE01UEU&ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_d_asin&th=1
So this may be a dumb question but now 2 of my Thiccly poles are starting to yellow on the bottom and when I look it's a giant root ball because when the pole is in the pot the roots can't go down and get clogged trying to go out of the bottom front that's in soil. Am I doing something wrong??
@10:23. I did NOT know about dead cutting! Thank you for this info.
Perhaps the chop will send it in the gorgeous plant you wanted. Thanks Melissa!
I hope so! Thank you!!
Oh that plant looks good as a beginning trailing plant, you have a eye for this. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing ☺️ I always appreciate and enjoy your content 🎉
Thank you so much! I appreciate that 🫶🥰
Funny I just received mine today and saw your video. Mine is still baby, so I will see how it goes. Thanks for sharing!
of course! Good luck with yours!! 💗
My Micans is a HUGE trailing basket! I absolutely love it!
I don't have a Micans, but they sure are cute enough to consider getting one🌿💚🌱
I love the regular micans!
Nice project. I think the plant looks great as a trailer. Thanks for the video .
Yes that made more sense and a better explanation of chopping where to avoid having a dead node.
It looks so much better as a little trailing plant. Super cute!
Thank you! 😊
I agree 👍 soOoo cute ❤
That little pot looks so good!!! I love Micans but again mine isn’t loving me back. Hopefully one day I’ll figure how to make it happy 💚💚💚

I’ve not heard if this micans before. It’s very pretty with its halo of white the more white the better
Hope you do a hoya video soon
What kind of video are you wanting to see? I need to still repot some and do an updated collection video here sometime :)
@@plantsbymelissa anything that involves Hoyas!

haha thank you! I really wanted to love this plant so hoping having it trail now and not on a pole will make me like it more!

haha that is! Which one did you take down?! I usually love my poles and having them climb but a couple lately aren't doing it for me!

I've heard of this plant before!
I need one now! (I'm gonna stick to the non vari tho 😅)
I just bought a pink micans and it came in stratum. Should I just keep it there or repot it in soil? It’s doing amazing in stratum
Do you reuse your moss? If so, do you do anything special to it to make sure it is safe to use again?
I will reuse it for some of my props that I am keeping for me or if it's for wetsicks but I don't do anything with it 😬 you could definitely boil it to sanitize it but that's too much for me to do lol.

I’m confused about this too because wouldn’t the new stem/leaf that grew from the first axillary bud create its own axillary bud?

Won’t the wet sticks grow in stratum?
Yes, but I had a lot of them so figured moss would work for these plus I had all the extra moss from inside the pole to use up hehe
What brand of nematodes do you use?
I order the SF nematodes :) I get them from natures good guys!
I love your plants but for some reason I don’t like variegated version of plants 🤷🏻♀️ I think they look sick!
Definitely looks better trailing, but honestly, maybe this plant is unable to look good either way. It's not the prettiest.
Yeah it definitely didn't grow how I thought it would!
