Been placing 2 into 5 gallon rectangular containers in New York City. Smaller makes rooting faster. Originally stated with one in a 25 gallon. The Vietnam White grew long but no fruit for 20 years. Transferred it to a 5 gallon and it is growing up trellis. Now moving it to more sun to see if it finally gets a flower. Good video.
I thought I'd go with the 4 plants per pot scheme. But if I correctly converting into liters, then in the demi-season I will break either my back or flowers. The comment from New York also does not add optimism, although the first year in the Moscow greenhouse seemed to be going well Any advices?
@@tristardragonfruit What is the optimal size of a permanent pot for one or two plants? Perhaps you could give some general advice on growing in cold climates
Hi! Growing in the ground is the best for any type of plants and veggies. But in the dragon world, if I had 10-20 acre, I would grow them in pots. But if I have flat land like in Vietnam or Philippines, I would grow them in ground since there wouldn’t be any pests damage. It depends on your growing environment. If you’re dealing with hills or unleveled ground, it’s best to grow in pots. Easier to maintain
If your plants is small and you start in 20 then you will have about 5-6 years before it root bound meaning you might have check on ur roots before trimming them
i am about to start growing these plants and i dont know much so i was thinking 1 pot for 1 plant in a 20 to 30 gal pot now i think i need to do more home work for this before i start toplant. also is the fruit in a season or through out the year like roses.
My red dragon was making flowers throughout the season. We've used flowers for cooking (they are delicious!). As soon as we removed the flowers (just before fully opening) the plant would pop more buds. And the cycle repeated throughout the season. All the best with yours!
I have a metal barrel that I couldn’t have. Can I use that for a pot? I put a lot of holes in it for drainage. I have a grapefruit tree and one could I plant my dragon fruit tree in there anyone done it before
At the beginning of the video you called the 25 gallon pot as a 20 and the 5 you called it a 3 I just bought from an Asian guy 30 pots he said they were 15 gallon, actually they were 10 gallon I also have at home 15 gallon pots that I use for other type of fruit trees…when I bought the 30 pots I didn’t realize they were only 10 gallon but they suited me fine because I paid $2 each…anyways it looks to me like you had in the video 1, 5, 10, 15 and 25 gallon pots..,.as far as the cost for each one the 25 gallon ones are way more expensive because most gardeners don’t use that size very often so therefore the nurseries don’t use them also…it would be hard to find 25 gallon used pots….which would be cheaper is you can find them…

When you plant them in the small pot, it gets hot and the roots grow faster but once it root bound, you gotta transplant

Would you almost always prefer planting in the ground if you had room and the soil is good? Or is planting in a pot the best option?? Thanks!
