    Finally someone on youtube who knows what he is talking about. You actually can grow in straight sand but the peatmoss, perlite and pumice help to lighten the mixture so you can move the pot if you need to lol. You are absolutely correct when you put the compost on the surface and not below to prevent the decompostion from using the oxygen in the soil.

      Thank you, David. I keep my plants simple. No need expensive soil. My plants are healthy and I’ve been growing for years.

    Where did you get your ratios from? Seems like you are using Gary’s Best Top Pot without the bio char.

      @@RAREDRAGONFRUIT he’s been testing for years and he has a research paper on it if you’re interested. Also, Gary’s soil is good too but it’s out of my budget. Don’t you mix your own too Paul?

    I use similar mix but I am not a fan of Peat Moss. I prefer Coco Coir. Fox farm makes CocoLoco Potting Soil which I love with a passion. It’s the same as FoxFarm Happy Frog but instead of it having Peat Moss it has Coco Coir.

      @@tzurtex6336 yes! My new mix is simple easy and fast. Here is then ingredients: Kellogg’s potting mix, perlite, and chicken manure :)
      Keep it simple

      @@tristardragonfruit I was trying to mix the Gary M style soil. Perlite is already in the mix. I saw someone else with the same issue who use lava rock with success. I finally found the brand name but it’s 80$ shipping. That’s more than the product so I’m narrowing to maybe a lava rock shell mixture . Those a readily avail materials here.
