- This is more of a theory than my last video, which was more of me just speculating and asking questions. I've not done much Dark Road theories/thoughts cos I never really knew what to expect. But after the UX finale I think I can make a better guess than I would have before.

Just to add, I don't really think it's necessary for the darkness in the classmates to be the four from UX, but I do think they'll fall to darkness one way or another. I mean, those four Darknesses will probably end up returning at some point anyway cos... plot. So I think bringing them back into the story like this would be a good way to connect UX with Dark Road, especially since the Player's sacrifice is what led to them and Xehanort having this connection to begin with. It'd be quite ironic if the Player's sacrifice was undone by them in their "next life"

Knowing KH I wouldn’t be surprised if Xehanort’s classmates came back in another form, be it nobodies, data versions or in a sleeping world
I definitely feel like Vor is Kairi's grandmother (or perhaps Ava) while Bragi's name makes him an obvious candidate for Luxu's possession chain. Baldr's death is what brings Ragnarök so it's safe to assume he'd die, plus maybe Urd, Hermod, and one more (Odin? The upperclassmen?)
@@narwhalwrath9574 It would be classic Nomura to kill off other people we didn't suspect and have them be part of the 4 whilst keeping some others alive. So I could definitely see some of the classmates surviving whilst others are in the graves instead, like Baldr (who I feel like has to die in some way anyway)

Also makes it sadder that Eraqus had to turn his Keyblade on Terra.. and I'm assuming Eraqus died because he couldn't bring himself to strike Terra down because he knew the Darkness wasn't his fault.. and Xehanort is the one who set it into motion for Eraqus to face Terra, so the quote about them having to do it someday is even deeper
Something I feel like throwing out there.. where is Yen Sid? We know he was a key blade wielder and close to Xehanort and Eraqus
Lets not forget that in nordic mythology, baldur’s death starts the ragnarok. Maybe it has something to do with the “end of the world” from kingdom hearts 1.
A possible foreshadow of what is to come can be seen in Ansem, Seeker of Darkness last words in KH3: "I knew I never stood a chance. Part of me wanted to defy my fate...but when the others betrayed us, I found I did not care. And then, nothing else seemed to matter anymore." I always found it weird, because, contrary to Xemnas, he wasn't so attached to the organization members to say something like this. But when they say that Xehanort felt the hatred people had for him from the future when he jumped to the dark corridor that lead him to Scala ad Caelum, it makes sense that this could related to that time. Xehanort had the feeling that was supposed to be his road, but at the same time he knew he was destined to fail, but when he was "betrayed' by his friend he decided that he didn't care anymore. Ansem is Xehanort's heart after all, so that is way he could be mentioning this.
That fucking catch with the four darknesses that pass through Xehanort though... Holy crap.
I know it's fruitless to speculate since we won't be getting new Kingdom Hearts content for several months (unless E3 decides to throw a whammy which I heavily doubt), but I want to know what the narrative purpose of connecting Xehanort to the x protagonist actually is. It can't be to make Xehanort sympathetic: the tragedy of the lower classmen would have been sufficient. What you said, though, gives me ideas for what exactly the purpose of it is. Xehanort is apparently the first person to "tour the worlds of fairy tales" literally since the destruction of Daybreak Town, and I don't think it's a coincidence that a former Daybreak Town resident is going there or would even _know_ how to get there, or even what it _is_ (Sigurd clearly knows, but what that means can be anyone's guess...). I also don't think it's a coincidence that the player character happens to be one of the strongest defenders of light _in spite_ of using the power of darkness ever since they were given the Power Bangle. So many scenes in Union hint at the player having a very strong connection to the darkness, and of course we can't forget about Dark Chirithy or its ominous warning, yet in spite of all that the player character is still very much immune to its corruptive influence, like Riku. We definitely can't put it past Xehanort to turn his weapon onto Keyblade wielders that have fallen to darkness (oh hey, that's *exactly what the player character did in X!* ), but it makes me wonder how on earth Baldr or the upper classmen connect to it, if at all.
That bit with testing Xehanort definitely resolves something that's been bugging me ever since X. Eraqus was explicitly the one chosen to succeed his Master (and thus was given the Master's Defender and would guard the Land of Departure), yet Xehanort has the Gazing Eye? Of course, we're all assuming that Xehanort was given it instead of him just stealing it, but given Odin is sus as fuck (not that I specifically think he's Luxu but I can't really rule it out), we can't really put it past him to manipulate the others in some way. I mean heck, why should I even believe the upper classmen won't fall to darkness like Xehanort's classmates? And for that matter, if they're undertaking their Mark of Mastery, then surely it would have made sense for _one of them_ to be Odin's successor since, well, they're *upper* classmen? The fact that we don't really hear about them either (other than the implication that Yen Sid could have been among them) suggests that either the upper classmen were scrub Keyblade wielders or they had been consumed by darkness like Xehanort feared. Honestly, it seems like Eraqus is catching onto the same things, but he maintains his "DARKNESS BAD" mantra instead of seeing it as a viable source for power like Xehanort, and I want to ascribe that to whatever happened to Brain (plz Dark Road, enlighten us on what the fuck happened to Brain...). Hard to say if Eraqus also has some conception of the ancient past, since he apparently took off for a pilgrimage at the same time as Xehanort but didn't seem to go to the fairy tale worlds (at least, not until Xehanort did I suppose), but maybe Luxu and/or Odin knew what'd become of the last passage of the Book of Prophecies....
If my idea about it being a test is on the right track, my thoughts are that the upper classmen are either undergoing that same test, or are just pawns being used to test Xehanort's class. There's a lot of things I didn't mention cos I'm not sure how they all fit in, like Yen Sid, the Queen of Hearts' darkness, Baldr (especially given the Ragnarok implications his death might have), as well as some other things. But I feel like those 4 graves need to be filled one way or another, and Xehanort needs to get No Name, and No Name is in Odin's possession for some reason. So I was just trying to think of how it gets from hanging up in the class, to ending up with Xehanort. Luxu claims he chose who to give it to, and it just seems like a master would be positioned best to make that sort of decision. But how would he know Xehanort is the right person unless he proved it somehow?
Also, it's s never fruitless to speculate. Its all about sharing our thoughts and enjoying this crazy lore, whether we're right or wrong or anywhere in between. I mean I made a whole segment in an older video about Ava being the traitor and I was wrong lmao. Being wrong stings doubly so when you make content on this I tell ya! 😅
I find it unlikely that Odin is Luxu despite being a bit sus. As to what happened to Brain, his body got hijacked by Luxu and Luxu kicked Brain's Heart out and possibly found residence in Yozora.
It seems like Darkness is leading Xehanort around by the nose. It like Pandora's Box again. Maybe Xehanort found the Cable or "played a game". Then, letting the Darkness out allows him to see them. Later, Xehanort is able to see Darkness perfectly in the Queen of Hearts. This explains the "false light" .
People like Judge Frollo, who think they are Righteous Light but bathe in Darkness.
Xehanort would rather dominate Darkness and be "one of them" then believe he is the "light" and be Unaware of Darkness.
However, Xehanort himself doesn't realize he covets the Light, and that he loves the Light.
He wants Friends and Apprentices and people to love him.
However, tragedy and death are too painful, so he hides in pain and being alone.

If this is true then I will feel really sorry for him. He believed he was solving a problem only to be a pawn in another person’s game.
I almost want him to have figured out, at least partially, what was going on behind the scenes, and have him plant a little trick down the line that shows the Master of Masters the folly of his plan, without aiding the Darkness' of course.

The finale finally answered a pivotal question about Xehanort. He knew of Ventus through the memories of [Player]. He knew a Darkness was trapped within the boys heart and knew exactly how to extract it. He knows exactly how significant Ventus is.
Good analysis. A lot of the dialogue seems to line up with this idea, but you mentioned something that's quite subtle which is how they're distanced from the others. They've never mentioned these classmates of theirs ever, so perhaps something happened that they'd rather not think about, something like this
Makes you really wonder if young xehanort and young eraqus are gonna be back in some form cause you know NOMURA 👀🤔 can't keep a character dead to save his life 🧬
Well I mean right after they both die he gave us a game where they're the main characters, and that game is integral to phase 2. So in a way they still stay relevant to the current story anyway lol

Xehanort has been having these weird thoughts lately...he doesn't even know if they are even real or not.
That would be so tragic.. the Player sacrificed their life to seal those 4 Darkness, and in giving their life they joined their heart with Xehanort's? How foul would that be if Xehanort/Player's new friends end up being possessed by the same Darkness that we literally died for in UX lol
Yep that's exactly what I was thinking as well
In myth, Odin famously sacrificed one of his eyes to obtain wisdom… if Luxu is possessing him, he certainly is drawn to figures who end up with one eye.

I honestly think you've called it completely. This video is almost a year old but based on the latest DR trailer it seems like most of what you've said is going to happen
Just a thought but what if the corridor with the four darknesses is a future version of the pipeline the player trapped those darknesses in during union x. Xeha could have been taking bits of them out into the world or releasing them without knowing.

The Player sacrificed themselves by tricking 4 Darknesses so Ephemer and Skuld, their friends, would live on after the destruction only for the Darknesses to take revenge on the Player in their next life. Ouch.
Bro I had a very similar thought to this too, but instead of xehanort being the one to strike down the 4 classmates it was eraqus. I had the same idea that those classmates had darkness in them, though I didn't think about it specifically being the darknesses from khux. The reason I thought eraqus being the one to do it would fit is because it would tie into xehanort becoming a dark seeker, or being more critical of those who are on the side of the light, AND tie into his future hatred of eraqus (to the point where he'd literally kill him)
However I havent watched these scenes in a long time and the part where eraqus says "it's not your fault" to xehanort casts doubt on my theory. But it's interesting to you see you have a similar theory and I totally believe yours could come true as well!
I dont think it's hard to believe that eraqus could do such a thing considering we see him try to kill ventus and terra in BBS. We know him as a person who would do anything to stop the darkness and is one of the first examples in the series that just being on the side of light doesnt make you a 100% good person and that's even more apparent now with the MoM whose goal is to eradicate the darkness but goes to insane lengths to achieve this goal (like ending the whole fucking world and killing god knows how many people with it)
THIS also made me think about how the player died because of a man (the MoM) who wanted to destroy the darkness, which makes it kind of fitting that they reincarnate into someone who's a dark seeker instead
Your theory doesn't clash with mine at all because I basically believe they'll both end up doing it. That's why Xehanort says one day they both might have to decide whether or not they're going to strike down those possessed by Darkness. I think they'll both have to do it and it'll affect them very differently because they already have different views on Darkness. Eraqus hates it already and says it's evil, whereas Xehanort thinks it isn't inherently evil. That's why Xehanort is sad about his classmates and is the one to put flowers there, whereas Eraqus (if you watch the full scene) just walks right past the graves with seemingly no care. So yeah, I think Eraqus' hands will be dirty by the end of all this too.

I was watching it again no too long ago and I noticed some of these things as well! The Queen of Hearts seems like she has a darkness with her too. Not sure if it's one of the 13 ones but it seems important!
Yeah I didn't mention that cos I wasn't sure how it really plays into this. It seems like the darkness is still there 4 years later, which I believe is after Xehanort's classmates are already gone, so I'm guessing it's not directly involved in whatever happens to them.. 🤔

I feel Bragi may become Luxus vessel, but theres not much evidence for this besides the fact his name matches the names we know so far to be luxus vessels (brain and braig)
I love the idea. That would be so tragic for the both of them... Makes me think of MOM as well, someone that has seen his friends fall to darkness too. I can't wait for Dark Road next update !

I don't think it's a vision, I think it's more so meant to draw a parallel between Brain and Eraqus, seeing how their body language matches perfectly. Xehanort coincidentally uses the same words, sure, but as player he has seen the concept of Darkness taking over a person, even if it was during a different scene.
Wait… which darknesses were sealed with Player? I thought jealousy (envy) was sealed with the foretellers..? Though if jealousy was a separate darkness from envy, that does explain which darkness Terra was possessed with during KH3. After all there were at most 9 darknesses present during KH3 (presuming Luxu brought his Lust along, Ava’s Greed was present even as she was not and MoM passed his Pride along to Xehanort or somesuch)
Also after watching the theory review of this video, it occurred to me King Triton remembers KH Dark Road. Not KHux, Atlantica never showed up in ux. So if the Queen of Hearts holds Greed within hers… Ava must have separated from her Darkness while traveling across the Worlds. Perhaps we will see more of her with King Triton’s accusations of Keyblade Wielder’s breaking the World Order. "You have violated this principle. The key bearer shatters peace and brings ruin." I feel we should see the origins of this sentiment in the Dark Road

It would make sense why Triton knew about the keyblade wielders if they aren’t supposed to play a part in the machinations of daily life. Also who do you think actually started the war? I have a sneaky feeling we weren’t told the full story by the Master of Masters. I think the light side was the aggressor. After all history is written by the victors so if the light side won the first war they would want to portray themselves as defending the light.
The player charater had no name so xehanort having no name is like saying he is truly the blader with no name

Seems fair to assume so. But it'd be funny if somehow he doesn't because his name alone puts a big death flag on him, so it might get subverted
