@@damo Hey I kind of have a theory that No one may have thought of. What if Luxu did what Xehanort did to Ven and split Brain's Heart. One half went to the future and the other became Luxu's apprentice.
Fun little side note: In RE:Coded, they also bring up the possibility of "data versions" of themselves. Before Mickey, Donald, Goofy, etc. realize they're in the datascape, Goofy suggests that there could be versions of themselves the same way there are versions of other characters. And if that was the case, there is the possibility they could join Sora in his adventures. Jiminy tells them that it's possible, but that the "whole datscape is fragmented, and not a complete entity like [they] first thought." Then they get distracted and the ADHD sets in and it never gets brought up again. Considering that Maleficent later in that game mentions that "The long slumber" would soon end and that's why she's looking to bathe the Worlds in Darkness, to kind of get a foothold in the cosmic scale. This is a Maleficent that we know know has been to the Age of Fairy Tales. Who knows how much she knows, but it lends credence to the theory that the interplay between someone's Data version, and someone's Real version, is going to be important at some point.
@@damo I think you haven't yet considered that Brain himself has TIME TRAVELED to the era of when Ephemer is known as the FIRST KB Master. And in order for him to arrive, he needs someone who has memories of him and a MEDIUM. Only then, would Brain's "Heart" and "his Heart only" would be able to take physical form. The Medium? His Hat. The Memories? Ephemer.
As someone who was more firmly of the belief that Luxu took Brain's body after sending Brain's heart to the future.... I have to say that you've convinced me haha. The continuous focus on the data backups fits really neatly as a clue into what happened and when combined with the secret report it makes too much sense to ignore. My biggest question now though - if Luxu left the box and his keyblade to the data Brain - is this: What is his "final task"? And yes, personally, I prefer the longer "explainer" portions before the theory so that the relevant info is fresh in my mind. Good analysis dude!
The writer team must have crazy flowcharts to follow their own story without getting confused. I never thought of the data backup Brain theory, but it's very plausible. I thought that the Luxu-Brain in KBG was just the future of the Brain we see in Scala ad Caelum. But I think your theory makes more narrative sense.
We need a reaction to all xigbar quotes throughout the entire series I feel like there were many foreshadowing quotes or deeper meaning to his words than we originally thought
I absolutely love and adore this series and with all the lore that’s already established, it sounds complicated to an outside observer but makes perfect sense to a fan. But no matter what, theories, even when they’re absolutely amazing and feel like they could be true, are so much wackier and more confusing than anything else. It’s so frustrating because it means we just have to wait. But I’m gotten off topic. The point is, I like your idea and as far as KH goes I think it makes a lot of sense, and I look forward to your next mystery explained. Oh! I also really like this format, stick with it.
Interesting thought occurred, what if when Luxu is talking about how, "It's a shame this is the only lifetime you've got," he's referring to Dream Eaters? All of the previous Dandelions had been turned into the Dream Eaters, or reincarnated, but Luxu was stating that wouldn't be the case for Brain, for whatever reason. I don't know, but this was something I've been thinking about.
Seems like a solid enough theory. They seem to be setting Brain up as a big deal moving forward, so I'm eager to see where the story takes him. Knowing Nomura though, anything we speculate on is only ever going to end up being, at most, a small fraction of whatever insane narrative his genius mind has comprehended.
I really like this theory solely for the reason it explains what happened to the last data pod. It bothered me that nobody mentioned this so far, since the fact that one data pod had been left behind means that the data world was never really locked. This would also mean that there was nothing preventing the 4 darknesses that player trapped in the data world from escaping eventually. This theory perfectly explains how the last pod could have been used (and the data world locked for good), while also explaining the whole Brain situation.
I was thinking "but there'd be two hats", but then if we assume that DataBrain takes Brain's original body, then only one hat makes sense. This theory, overall, makes a lot of sense. I have no idea if it's true or not, but it's very interesting. Brain said that his mission was to live to be the beacon for his friends, so it kind of seems reasonable that DataBrain would have the same character traits and be amenable to that mission as well. At least at first blush, this theory seems reasonable, even if something else comes out in the story later. I've seen several people suggest that Luxu wanted the Box hidden from himself. Anyway, got sent here by your "What's in the Black Box" video, so now I'm going to go watch the rest of that one. :)
These are all different thoughts I had while watching this: 1) I feel its strongly hinted by Maleficent (and in your video showing the maleficent cutscenes) that the black box wasn't just hiding "somewhere", it was hiding some-"when" - and that the Keyblade War between Sora and Xehanort had to occur before the box was going to re-appear. For whatever reason, Luxu either pretended to not know, genuinely lost his memories, or was looking for a some one or some sign that would signal the point in which the black box would or would not return. I'm moreso thinking the latter of the options makes as much as sense as him forgetting about it, because we know that for a variety of different reasons, people can be made to forget about the existence of people until they suddenly return to existence (everyone forgetting about Sora for example). It seems that also based on the secret reports that once Sora and Xehanort's war concluded, that the MoM would return, and the Foretellers (which we actually see happen) would as well. We know that for whatever reason Ava isn't there (either she's dead, trapped with the dandelions, or is somehow involved in the "true dandelion" mission, or something else). We also don't see the MoM just appear at the same time as everyone else, meaning either he could show up right after, or like Ava, he was never intending to show at the same time (despite Luxu seemingly expecting that to happen after the Keyblade War ends, yet not commenting on it - instead remarking about Ava instead). Perehaps something else needs to be done before the MoM can/will fully return. 2) Brain's goal is to free the Dandelions from the Data Realm and return them back to the world. ( and if that wasn't his goal, then it was sure a waste of time to repeatedly show him saying that was his goal). 3) Brain must time-travel to roughly 100ish years or w/e or so before the events of the mainline KH games so that he can become Eraqus' grandfather. For some reason, Eraqus has at no point said anything about the dandelions, so its not known if he has any idea about that side of him or that history, or even that being a goal that was important - for some reason. We only know Xehanort knows about the Lost Masters because he talked to MoM at some point, and that Eraqus MIGHT know about them and pretends not to because its something to hide, or genuinely doesn't even know that much. 4) People in Scala at that time knew Brian was going to be there, and even had a medium ready for him. The question is they either learned about this because they got this info from some version of the Book Of Prophecies, or some form/version of "Luxu" went to Scala to both give his No-name Keyblade and also the info about Brain arriving some day. In particular, the No Heart still has to get to Scala at some fucking point because its there when Xehanort and Eraqus are kids - and unless Luxu literally leaves Brain the MoM keyblade, but then ONLY takes over his body but somehow lets his heart still have the keyblade, allowing Brain's heart and the NoHeart to like skip thousands/hundreds of years of watching the worlds that Luxu is supposed to do... that would mean that Luxu deliberately chose to not let the Eye of the MoM see the worlds change over time, and would've actually caused the book of prophecies to not even be able to be written in the first place, as the MoM would only be able to know of the events that happened from when Brain arrives in Scala, up until the point where KH3 ends. While interesting, I think its clear that the Brain that goes to the future doesn't have the No Heart with him, and that the version of Brain with the Org Coat only ends up giving the Keyblade, at some unknown time, over to Scala someone ends up inheriting it and just joining scala; as the keyblade has be in the world to let the MoM view everything and write the book of prophecies. Not to mention, the No Heart is like put on display as like this important thing, so its not like its just some random keyblade from some random keyblader - its clearly understood to hold some significance, but we've been given no reason to believe that it stemmed from any information that Ephemer himself would've had; meaning Luxu had to at some point deliver or give the thing over and explain its significance to at least someone important. 5) We know there's a reason we are deliberately shown two scenes with people who are implied to be Luxu: One where he fights a darkness, even though he knows he can't kill it One where he talks to Brain in strange manner, acting as if he has no idea about the situation at hand and asking him about everything going on, and either threatening or offering him something relating to his inevitable mortality. I want to say that it looks like Luxu is deliberately letting Darkness go within him, though I can't think of any reason why other than to sabotage some aspect of the MoM's plan - as that would mean there's now Darkness either in Luxu or Brain. 6) Why send Data Strelitzia into the future? Does Luxu know that there will be vessels there for the data to be used for some reason? If not - seems like a waste to just send a data husk hoping something happens with it... there must be some understanding of what's going to happen to the data when it arrives, otherwise its a stupid plan that makes no sense. 7) Where the fuck exactly is the Keyblade Graveyard? We know it's supposed to be where Daybreak Town is - or close to it - and yet, somehow based on the implied order of events, a version of Brain with a org coat is at the Keyblade Graveyard at roughly a similar time where Ephemer is already creating Scala... but Scala is literally being rebuilt on a flooded world, so what the keyblade graveyard just wasn't part of the whole world being destroyed and flooded? lol If they would've just shown Org coat brain standing over the same ruins Ephemer was in, it would be so much more clear when this scene is supposed to take place, but now it makes me feel like that scene could've taken place any time at all - as the keyblade graveyard doesn't really seem to change. It makes me wonder more about certain timeloop theories as an alternatively theory (which I don't like), where Luxu and Brain have ALWAYS been the same person, or look the same, and this was done intentionally by the MoM so that Luxu would kind of interpret what the MoM's intentions were, and make some kind of decision. We know Luxu straight up says that what he's doing is based off of his take on what he should be doing, and what he thinks should be done. It just makes too much sense, and is implied too directly, that the evicting of Brain's heart to the future and taking his body was just what was done here... And I think that Luxu needed to take that last pod to at least get back to the real world (the darknesses couldn't escape the data world without a vessel to go through time with on the ark, so I don't think Luxu was so special he could just leave whenever he wanted to) , so he took over Brain's body, left his old body behind, and together they traveled back to the real Daybreak Town and then he released Brain's heart - allowing it to travel to some point in the future where Brain's hat could be used as medium to allow him to return (likely all put into motion by Luxu, or perhaps someone else who wanted to bring Brain back) and then allowing Brain to fulfill some prophecy, or begin some plan, that will allow him to one day work to freeing the dandelions ( and if that wasn't his goal, then it was sure a waste of time to repeatedly show him saying that was his goal).
I just took it as Luxu sent Brain forward in time and if you remember the rules of time travel in this franchise only your heart can move forward through time your body is either destroyed or stays behind. So he possessed the body that was left behind. However because of the book of prophecies they knew that he was going to show up in Scala ad caelum in the future so they had a vessel waiting for him so he was completed so technically you end up with two versions of Brain. The one in the past possessed by Luxu who goes on to become Bragi, Braig and Xigbar, and the resurrected one in the future who is the real one.
@@yodarusev because his name contains all the exact same letters as the other iterations of him and he seems to be the one most content to hang out with Xehanort and Eraqus during Dark Road. Just the fact his name is Bragi, a 2 letter difference from Braig, is a dead giveaway. This franchise does not do stuff like that out of pure coincidence so it's Common Sense really
@@yodarusev also keep in mind that Luxu admitted to body hopping from years in the KH3 epilogue. So Im not saying Luxu IS Bragi but I am saying he possessed him at some point.
@@OversoulGaming sounds more like a red herring if anything And the name Bragi was taken directly from Norse mythology, it's the name of the god of poetry
the real question is why didnt they just take out data sora as a backup buh dum tss but seriously the theme of putting darkness into a vessel has been a thing in kh and that idea may have come from data brain staying behind encountering darkness. luxus keyblade ends up in scala proving this indefinatley . real brain staying with light while the other is darkness.
I once had a theory of my own. Ask yourself this: "If you knew exactly what was going to happen, and that it was going to happen either way - would you still play along, or would you go against it?" I feel this is the dilemma that Luxu has been experiencing. The Master straight up told him that the Book of Prophecies only exists due to the link between the Gazing Eye of the past, and the Gazing Eye of the future. Luxu has already done exactly what he was supposed to do. Not just because it is written in the book, but because this Luxu followed the instructions of this book. He stood on the very path which it foretold, and eventually became Xigbar, the black goat. Knowing this information, what if Luxu decided to oppose it? He opposed it knowing that the Book was merely bait for Darkness to orientate itself according to the information provided by the book. If the book said "this was going to happen", then Darkness would be there. Using that advantage, this Luxu seemed convinced that this was the Master's true intention for Luxu, to realize the "truth" and stray away to find a new solution - one that might not begin with a keyblade wielder, but a forsaken warrior? One, that had no place in this reality - so this warrior created his own fictional world, a world of reality... or a world of fantasy, in which he was left with a new identity with no place to be? Let's say, at some point (maybe during Dark Road), one of the keyblade wielders meets their demise, but as their heart is destroyed, they lose everything. Their name, their identity, maybe even their keyblade. And yet they still keep the knowledge of this 'new' identity not being their true self, in pursuit of the truth. I think this is who Yozora essentially is - someone who isn't a "nobody", but his heart is no longer recognizable by anyone. They won't know who he used to be. And there might just be one person who lived to witness these events, either in a parallel presence to the black goat, or by following the newfound path to a completely different turn of events. Eventually, they might become Luxord, the white goat. Now you might remember the Master's riddle: "A black goat stashes away a letter, then orders a white goat to search for it." The black goat is in the future, and with that, he is unknowingly able to share his wisdom with the white goat, residing in the past. The black and the white goat originate from the same person. While Xigbar may only remember 'his' past as the black goat, he is completely oblivious to the idea of the white goat being very close to him. And the white goat happens to have the advantage of knowing who the black goat is. Which leaves the question: What's the endgame? I feel like no other member of the Organization stood closer to Sora than Xigbar. While every other member of the original and final organization seemed to have a more simple goal, Xigbar remained the odd one. Xehanort wanted to re-live the events of the Keyblade War, perhaps in order to restore order between light and darkness. Xemnas was in pursuit of understanding the power of a heart. Ansem was the vengeful side of Xehanort, who knew of Ansem The Wise's darker and untold tales. Young Xehanort travelled through time to further collect useful information for himself. Vanitas is (a) darkness. Terra-Xehanort wanted to erase his past, embodied by the Lingering Will, and take control of the guardian which held Terra's heart as a prisoner. Data-Riku, similar to Replika-Riku once, wanted to become the "true" Riku. Isa was both jealous and angry of his friend Lea, with whom he shared a promise - to save a lost heart in Radiant Garden. (Subject X?) Marluxia may have been seeking the power of the keyblade to reunite himself with Strelitzia. Larxene, a friend of Marluxia when they used to co-exist together as keyblade wielders, accompanied him throughout the journey. I left out Xion, because she's replaced by Kairi (who's saved either way). Demyx, because we know jack shit about him. And Luxord, because we know jack shit about him... or do we? I always had this feeling that they all tried to convince Sora of either giving up, or joining their side to help them. Only Xigbar seemed off, not only because he seemed rather distant whenever the Organization was up to its antics, but because he could easily relate to Sora. Xigbar, or Luxu, used to have friends, too. And Luxu used to care about his friends, be it the foretellers or the union leaders. He cared for his friends, and wanted them to be safe. This motivation was his source of power, in a way. His friends, were his power. And even then, it was not enough. So what if Xigbar tried to make or break that very hero out of Sora, sharing his own wisdom with him in a wise-cracker format? And what if Luxord attempted the same with Yozora? What if they were both meant to meet at one point, but their fight ended in a tie? What if they were forced to fight together, until one hero was decided upon? What if Yozora is just another stepstone for Sora's journey? What if this was all in an effort to change the outcome of the very end, in which darkness may have won? I feel like Luxord, now without a keyblade, uses his heart as his guiding key.
That was so many confusing point so seemingly separated that I couldn’t follow a single over-arching point. You should make a video explaining it or something.
While a lot to digest, there's actually a lot of good stuff here. I especially like the connection between Xigbar and Sora. Xigbar has always been seen as one who is just... kind of there. He never steers Sora any other way. In fact his line of "alright! the hero thinks he's ready now!" ties in perfectly with your statement of what if he was trying to make or break that hero out of Sora. Test him to see if he really is ready to stand up to the coming storm that is headed his way once he inveitably defeats Xehanort.
Xehanort uses NoName to unlock his heart and put it into Terra's body. This implies that NoName is a Keyblade of Heart. If it is a Keyblade of Heart, Brain can hide the box and live as Luxu's apprentice before unlocking his heart and going to the future on his own without using the pods. The simple answer is just that one scene happened before the other.
Firstly, like this format a lot. On the theory, A lot hinges on the data backups, and while I think it's a wild concept, you've made a very convincing case. Up to now, without giving much consideration yet (I still need to play MoM), I assumed there was just some time shenanigans happening and that something occured after Brain ending up in Scala, where the scene in the graveyard is "after" the scene in Scala (not necessarily temporally, but for the objective viewer). But that ignores how strongly it's suggested that Luxu would bequeath Noname right that moment and the report about the order of events for Luxu as well. So while I'm slightly sceptical and wanting to see things unfold more, yours is the best I've got 😅 It explains a lot all at once, like Brains original keyblade still being in rotation despite his having No Name. Nice work Damo
The theory hinges on the black box being exactly what you think it is, a Daybreak Backup. The fact that it also explains to some degree why Luxu has no clue where the black box is in KH3, and gives Brain reasonable motive to agree to all of this, makes it very convincing.
If a human brain has two sides, that means a character name Brain is actually two people!!!! *suspense music* Jokes aside, really cool theory. If data Brain is basically an older version of his thoughts, he would gladly help out with the plan of helping his friends. So i can actually see this becoming true.
I need to get caught up on the lore again! I still need to piece together re:mind and Melody. You're videos are great thanks for all the hard work and quality content!
What if the Brain that arrive in the future is actually the same that appear in the graveyard but some time after? Maybe he became Luxu’s apprentice, inherit the blade and box, hide the latter and then travel to the future (with the help of some friends that where supposed to travel with him) arriving in Scala ad Caelum where he would take his own apprentice that will inherit that keyblade, thus the keyblade will remain in Scala as Caelum until the times of Xehanort.
small game theory that if the True Dandelion is Strelitzia, it has trouble keeping form because the real Strelitzia was destroyed. Maybe because the real Brain still exists, a data version of him would form just fine. We know something eventually happens to the real Brain, perhaps causing the Data Brain to have to pass off his keyblade. The bequeathing happens through another apprentice or directly to Odin; Maybe Odin finds it as a result of Data Brain passing on and that's why it's hung up on the wall, to honor the life of the mystery person it belonged to
One theory i saw that i liked is that Luxu took Brain's body as a host, freeing Brain's heart to travel into the future without the need of a pod. Luxu then held onto Brain's hat and gave it to the city of Scala, either telling them about Brain, or knowing that Ephemer would tell them about Brain. Time travel needs two things in KH; Someone who remembers you, and a vessel for your heart to inhabit, with a new body being formed around it, often this vessel takes the form of cloaks or other clothing. in this case, the memory is in the people who were told stories about Brain, or possibly Luxu himself returning to Scala years later. the vessel is Brain's hat, which is returned to him immediately upon him waking up. So his heart latched onto the hat and made a new body for itself nearby. so both bodies are Brain's body, no Data needed. I don't feel like Luxu would be willing to get rid of the black box so soon after the master's departure. I do like your idea that he gave it to someone else to hide it from himself some time in the future, but as of KHUX Luxu seems intensely loyal to the MoM, I'm not sure he'd be willing to give up the box so quickly and risk someone opening it, even if it is one of the new union leaders.
This is great, I was thinking about this yesterday and came to the same conclusion regarding their hammering home of the Data Backups thing. They really do go out of their way to chat about it as much as possible and leave that door open in the final two updates. To me, this guarantees that the data backup is being used for Strelitzia and Brain, who took the last pod before things went to shit. I think your theory is exactly right man. I do wonder how Data Brain would feel about all this. I have to say I absolutely love this, if it ends up being true.
I'm pretty surprised they just kinda abandoned him in there after he did for them in re:coded. I mean it's probably the same Data Sora in remind, but still...
I agree with your theory. I believe the biggest problem for providing proof of the theory is that some details of the main story are left out on purpose. For example, we knew that Ven was the imposter and should not have been there. We also knew that he did not murder Strelitzia because of the person he is. What was left out in the story was that darkness used him and manipulated him to murder Strelitzia and tricked him into thinking he was a dandelion. It was not until then that what I just said was confirmed. I believe this to be true about your theory as well. Dialogue between Brain and Luxu has been left out on purpose. Until that part of the story is revealed, your theory will be proven correct. Maybe more could be added to your theory to make it 100% true. But there is no telling until more story is released. Also, please continue to make videos of heavily explaining the thought. It makes you sound more believable and credible. The next video I would like to see is a complete timeline of Master Xehanort before Dark Road comes out. Also include everything from the secret reports. I know that sounds like a nightmare to take on Ahaha but I'd love to see it.
Great theory. There is another theory out there that could provide more data or points. Secret Reports posits that the Fictional World has something to do with Brain, the disappearance / reappearance of the box. It is a great theory that (deserves to see) but something difficult to summarize. So with your permission I recommend watching the video to contribute more to this great theory of damo. I think that if both channels were to agree, they would bring great contributions to KH.
Hey , really good theory. One thing to add. We gotta compare the voice actor for Luxu in Back Cover with the "Brain/Luxu" voice actor in the final scene. If there is some distinction in the voices to say they're different people then you may be on to something. Only because Nomura traditionally hasn't had to use the same voice actors to throw everyone off up until this point. Nice job anyways, you're the man.
It's Luxu's voice actor at the end of Back Cover saying the lines again, but I'm obviously biased but I don't read it as a point against the theory. They may not have planned this particular twist way back in 2014 and even if they had, revealing a different voice actor back then would have given the entire surprise away. The BBS shots of young xehanort didn't use Ben Diskin for example because they hadn't cast him yet, so there's also a precedent for using existing actors to cover roles for non-fully revealed characters as well
It would definitely be interesting if the old man was brain and the reason he watched over xehanort was he sensed the players and thus ephemers friend’s heart inside him and felt duty to protect it
This makes so much sense, i believe it. Although I do believe that the second brain (original brain) is Eraqus.I think they pass data brain as his grandfather… that scene in your Dark Road episode 2 (2/3) when xehanort and eraqus had a combined flashback about darkness possessing hearts..it really sold me on that.
I feel like luxu in the keyblade graveyard is his true face. I feel as luxu is brain and that he sent brain from union x to scala and not taken his body like everyone thinks. I also think that not a lot is known about luxu or even brain at this point.
Honestly it could be either one. At first I was thinking that Luxu took brain's body, but your theory made me Remember that Luxu's role was to pass down the key blade. Luxu didn't know the location of the Box which was given to brain. Sometime during Kingdom Hearts 3 Luxu Must have finally found the Box either before the war or after Considering we don't know when that Last cutscene truly takes place, a few days, a week, or even a month. Also there is a theory that Luxu could have did what Xehanort did to Ven and split Brain's Heart. Taking the dark half as his apprentice and letting the light half leave in the pod.
Interesting theory! The only thing that I'm not sure right now is that Brain is Eraqus's grandfather. It seems too obvious for KH standards and he looks like an important character for the future of the saga (they gave the spotlight to Brain during union X, just for him to be dead off-screen in dark road? ) I have the feeling that he travelled to the present/bbs time instead (and that we'll see him soon enough). Maybe Eraqus is just distantly related to Ephemer or one of the first wielders of Scala ad Caelum and his grandfather is just a random guy. Remember, we have Kairi's grandma treated the same way (random woman who never returns), unless dark road changes that.
I always thought the one at the graveyard is Luxu with Brains body, and the one in the future is Brains heart which traveled forward in time, manifesting a new body and reforming.
It's a popular theory and makes sense at first glance. If Report #12 didn't exist I would 100% be on board with it but I just can't accept that Report #12 is wrong. Even if there isn't a Data Brain in play, I still think that the person in the Graveyard has to be Brain
Nomura is straight genius with this story and storytelling and so are you man with figuring all this stuff out. Just makes sense wow. Gotta say though a mobile game, Union X has got to be the best story and is my favorite out of all of kh.
Yo! Question about the " true dandelion" that gets put in an ARC. It looks alot like a blank body.. wrapped it white cloth... like the ones In Kh3. the one Demyx is seen carrying. Maybe it was a blank body luxu sent into the future to be a vessel for brains heart? Or idk. Just thought it was a funny company
I have to say Damo this is a solid theory and it does make sense to me. The idea of Two Brains (Left Brain: the one who get left behind and Right Brian: the real Brain who travels to the future) …is a very Nomura like concept
You have such a relaxing voice, it's nice. Also; Amazing commentary on the story. I don't think I would understand the KH series at all after KH2 if it wasn't for finding your channel. Thank you for all your hard work, it means a lot to this old fan!
i like ur idea on the use of the last data pod i couldnt for the life of me figure out who it could be used for but knew it had to be used to seal data daybreak town nice theory
The Brain in scala cant be eraqus' ancestor because Ephemer is the one with his keyblade. However Keyblade box Brain or his successors will eventually be master of eraqus/xehanort in scala...
Totally agree on the data back up theory. I believe that luxu approached brain saying “it’s your last life blah blah”intending on just transferring bodies but then brain told him about the backups and convinced luxu how he wouldn’t have to take his life but the life of a data version of him instead. And have him carry out his mission by bequeathing the keyblade and box to him, the real brain and tasked with finding another worthy apprentice eventually making its way on the classroom wall in Scalia ad caelum. With the data version extracted luxu then successfully transfers bodies and heads into the future posing as brain ending up in a future scala. With ephamer already reading about this in the book of prophecies he knows that some version of brain will end up at that exact time and has someone to greet him.
For a while now I’ve guessed that Brain as we know him is a replica of Luxu. Considering that data versions of people exist during that era it’s not far fetched that a prototype replica was created there. Anyway looking back at the cutscenes from Backcover, Luxu’s voice doesn’t change even during that scene where he will take off his hood. Maybe it’s a retcon, but I’d like to think that everything produced from COM and on has been calculated.
I think the theory is super solid overall, but there is one point I'm not too sure one. It appears that Data Brain is actually the one who traveled into the future, as he says "Some of my friends escaped with me. This could be the final memory of the Real Brain being copied over into Data Brain before the pods in Data Daybreak Town departed. Of course, we don't know how or where the Data Backups come from, but with them being data, it could be possible Brain's is just... loaded into the final pod and sent on his way. I dunno, that point, in particular, is hard to give a solid call on, but I think all the evidence surrounding it that you dug through is super cool!
Honestly this fits. My thoughts had been that the brain we met was the data Brain and Luxu was the real brain because of early scenes in after the first keyblade war which made a point of showing Brain rrad the book of prophesies, him asking the others about their faith in Ava and him declaring himself the Virus early on.
Ooooh I love this explanation. I have similar thoughts but my main difference being that Luxu and Brain are the same person and that the Brain we've always seen is the data version aka a data Luxu. (I have a video introducing Temporal Paradox theory with Brain and Luxu) However I didn't think about them retrieving the data version from data world and those are the two Brains we see now... Talking about the black box they do say their data is probably locked away somewhere which I believe to be in that black box- and maybe the rest of real day real town (also have theory videos discussing the black box, the 7/sharing hearts, ancestry, and the purpose of Quadratum- aka a "heaven" for MoM's childhood loved ones) Although I am still stuck on the keyblade graveyard cutscene cause it picks off were KHx backstory left off- with Luxu. I still think this is set before all the events data daybreak town and that's his real face. I honestly believe the other lost masters and MoM will look like characters we've seen before 🤣😂
Maybe the box was hidden in Kingdom hearts? Which is why it only could appear again after the keyblade war in kh3? I could easily imagine the brain that stayed with the box to start experimenting with hearts, similarly to his descendant xehanort, ultimately finding a way to create kingdom hearts and hide the box in there?
I mean, are we certain that the events shown are in the right order tho? I kinda think that Brain in the graveyard happens in the future after he wakes up in Scala. Kind of like the whole Scala bit being its own secret ending to UX and showing a brand new story/the lead into another game which'll end with Brain in the graveyard with the box after learning something important about it.
I’m gonna stick with this theory until we know more about it, I love it, though I’m not particularly fond of all the data related stuff becoming even more relevant to the lore. I’m just afraid it gets a big deus ex machina as the replicas
Imagine dragging around a hard drive in a big black box for a thousand years because there are 4 beings of darkness stuck on the mechanical disc. It's like Antikythera mechanism meets Pandora's Box.
I saw a comment that made a lot of sense. Luxu took over brain's body but Brain was okay with it. Luxu did it to save him. Brain as a heart with no form traveled forward in time. there they had his hat as a medium and memories of him for his body to reform. So Luxu take's his body then in the future is brain with his new body. They specifically mention in Union X that the heart alone can regenerate a body given the correct conditions.
11:34 and that also highlights the stupidity in lauriam's goal. finding data strelitzia won't help strelitzia in the slightest. he would just be replacing strelitzia with a data clone of her. he isn't saving anyone. the real one would simply be heartbroken in the final world, wishing to fully enter the realm of death since no one wants her anymore. replacement =/= resurrection
I always feel like luxu snatched his body and cast his heart into the future. By the time Brain arrived at said time period; somebody remembered him thus giving Brain heart a body?
I think part of the difficulty is mapping the intricacies of this other world. We see and get information that it's a data backup, but is it a projection in the same way the others from the Book of Prophesies are? We know this other digital world has SOMETHING to do with dream worlds, because Ephemer contacts the Player through dreams and all the other Dandelions & their Chirithies become Dream Eater spirits. We see Master Ava treat the data world as if it's a whole other real alternate dimension, not just a digital recreation. Then again, if it weren't for Ephemer, we wouldn't know ANY of the worlds we initially visit are just projections; I'm not sure ANY of the Foretellers actually admit this to any of the kids. In my mind, Data-Daybreak is more than a simple digital back-up, but a combination of a Sleeping World and Datascape, perhaps like the case of the Grid. While the Book of Prophesies projects the future, this dream-data world creates a convincingly real alternate present, at least until Maleficent's use of the pod causes it to start to collapse. I don't know if this amounts to anything. Maybe it means the data duplicates can use bodies. Maybe it even means they can reproduce and there's no weirdness with spawning an ancestral line to Eraqus. There's a theme in the series of the connection between dreams and the 'real' world. Either way, I just find it all fascinating. And none of this accounts for Brain's comments about becoming a 'virus.' What did that MEAN? Surely, if Brain was going to enact something like that, it would involve his data copy doing something with the digital world. And yet if the data world went down, and all the Dandelions became Dream Eaters, what would Data Brain even do? How would it survive that, unless, as you said, it went to the real world?
I think the Data Brain thing is the most likely explanation. There was one pod left after Ephemer and Skuld came back. Afterwards, Luxu could've brought Brain's data out of the virtual world and possessed (and/or passed the Gazing Eye), while sending the real Brain to the future, and he wound up in Scala ad Caelum. The idea that Brain is Eraqus's grandfather seems very plausible in my opinion (they kind of look similar), so the real Brain going to the future makes more sense.
Maybe the box didn't exist yet because in the other realities it wasn't put there and it needed a specific set of events for it to be buried their so when kh3 ended it magically appears where it wasnt before. Best theory I can think of
Close, but it would be like journal Riku from re:coded or Data Sora becoming real people. Which im kinda surprised they haven't already done honestly, Data Sora grew a heart and a keyblade after all
@@damo I haven't played KH3 so ignore me if this happened already, I thought Sora's Data version would become the medium/vessel for Roxas/Xion to return as his/her own person. I'm caught up finally to start KH3 sometime this fall.
i didn't think they could use those data backups since they were locked up i forgot we saw luxu with what appeared to be strelitzia's data backup moments ago -_-
i reckon its both brain but at separate times, and nomuras just messing with us, i reckon he bequeaths the keyblade an brains goes to scala, and after meeting that person he goes on to be luxus apprentice
Right Brain has Ephemer and his keyblade as medium for travel in the future, but when he arrives his friend is probably dead. That's why they need to use his hat as medium. I think Sigurd is another vessel of Luxu that, whit his memory of Right Brain and in possession of his hat as medium, has done his role of waypoint for the travel. So that leaves us with Left Brain possessed by Luxu, living the rest of his life. Then, at the end of Ephemer life, he led the master's keyblade in Scala ad Caelum, using Sigurd as new vessel and bringing Right Brain back.
@damo279 have you considered the fact that Brain could have time travelled to the Original Scala that Empher founded because Empher has the memories and Master Defender Keyblade is the waypoint?
Question: do you think we’ll get a hint of what time period Brain was in at the end? I feel like I NEED to know who this ‘WE’ is that Sigurd mentioned 😶 what if it’s an order of Keyblade wielders that began the world order rule and informed people like King Triton🤔 given he knew about keyblades
I don't have as much an idea on the timeline of events either, but one thing that was bugging me throughout this theory crafting is the concept that Brain is in two places/timelines "at once". Why would we assume that the two scenes are happening simultaneously if they take place in different points in time? While we don't know all the exact mechanics of how time works in KH, it would be easy to imagine it being something of a straight line. That if the scene in the scene in the Keyblade Graveyard and the scene in Scala ad Calum took place in vastly different time periods, it's not hard to imagine its the same person. This still leaves many questions about the how and why, but the very basics of how I think it would have happened is Brain becomes Luxu's apprentice/body for the scene in the Keyblade Graveyard, and then later was sent into Scala ad Calum for the scene there.
I find this a really interesting theory for this. I do honestly think that Brain wasn't posessed by Luxu unless Nomura threw that secret report as a red herring, but it's hard to say. One theory I find very interesting is one that kinda spans off of one made by The Secret Reports (The UA-cam channel xP), about the Box, Brain, etc. It supposes that Brain entered "The Unchained Realm" and hid The Box, and possibly himself there, which is why no one could find it before Xehanort's Keyblade War. And the game certainly seems to indicate that the Box was either completely unfindable for a period of time, or sent through time. My thoughts are that, it is actually incredibly strange to me that in the Secret ending with the Foretellers and Luxu that No Name sort of flies out of the air and lands in front of Luxu. There's not much to indicate if this was caused after Xehanort's defeat and his keyblade just kinda...flew out of nowhere. But I find it strange. My theory is maybe that Brain returned to the Keyblade graveyard with the box after either time travelling or from the Unchained realm, and either met with Luxu again to return his keyblade and the box, or Luxu forcefully reclaimed it from him However now that I really think about it, the glaring hole in this theory is that it leave no room for Brain to pass his keyblade on to an apprentice at all, no matter which way you spin it. So it's bound to be impossible. What's much more likely is that whatever version of Brain is shown dragging the box is him taking it to the KBG to hide it there, via whatever means that could make it disappear and be undetectable for a century or longer.
Until something happens, I do like the idea of Brain as himself being the OG apprentice of Luxu and being taught the method of taking over another body for himself, if only because of the whole shame that this lifetime is all that you have. However, I do like the idea of Data Brain being the one in the coat , with the idea that he would want to have the possibility of sending a message to his original self, or maybe one of his OG self's friend, whichever comes first, to prepare for the real Brain's arrival in London!Scala and/or the lessons he was taught so they can actually be at the level of the Foretellers. In any case, would be looking forward to seeing Brain's journey continue in future games! Hopefully with all his friends at hand someday! I love the interactions the Dandelion leaders had, and would love to see it continue and be expanded upon, if only because I like the idea people have been saying, about one of the battles being a custody battle over Ven. Our cute young man has been busy collecting parents. Hopefully they can find a situation where they are truly just brothers and sisters of his in one big family. xD
As per the rules of time tavel, to traverse time one must leave behind their body. And we know that as long as there is a conduit and someone with memories of the traveler, a person can travel to that period of time. So why wouldn't it be possible that Luxu helped Brain release his own heart from his body, sent that heart into the future (where we see him wake up in Scala) and Luxu moves his own heart into the now empty husk that is Brain's body, thus allowing "Brain" to exist in both places (Keyblade Graveyard scene and Scala scene)?
Your theory is pretty interesting, but I've got a thought as it crossed my mind, i think the data staritzia wasn't just data but a "doll" just like what we see in Kh3, the white outfit fits well enough, but also here's where it deviates, what do we know about organization dolls? They copy a certain person, one example is Roxas/Sora for Xion's case but also the purpose of the new dolls made afterwards are meant to hold the hearts of other keyblade masters, but it's also possible that Luxu helped make a doll with the master to make his own apprentice training them himself and giving his keyblade (aka the MoM keyblade) to them, the doll having copied Brain will have similar thoughts as him but live differently, but we really don't have any idea of how long they can live for, or if they die at all, they may just need to copy another person to keep up the act, they aren't any different than the original person but it takes time, but this could also reveal that not all the Luxu encounters were him either, we know data sora can call forth the kingdom key to him, and the same for Xion too, Brain is smart while Luxu has information, and because dolls are neither light nor dark, they have special access to different worlds (example: the Realm of Darkness or The World That Never Was) so this could be an interesting plot device later on in the story. 🤔
What about this. Brain is luxu. Luxu is Mom. Luxu is brains future self and mom is his even more future self. Brain. Luxu. And mom. All the same person. It would explain the scene with brain having the no name. Andbit seems luxu is getting less serious and more lax every time we see him. He wont have to make it to the future to recomplete MOM. He will become him
Honestly I think brain might actually be yozora because of he read the book of prophecy and the book sees into the future it could be a reason that yozora ask sora when they first meet “YOUR SORA?” because he knows about sora but doesnt recognize him
Damo: “data daybreak town”
My brain : “day-to-day break town”
I only flubbed that line 800 times while recording it XD
It doesn't sound that hard to say until you actually say it out loud
@@damo Hey I kind of have a theory that No one may have thought of. What if Luxu did what Xehanort did to Ven and split Brain's Heart. One half went to the future and the other became Luxu's apprentice.
Dayta Break Town

I love that you love discussing the lore of KH. This fanbase is probably one of the best online
All I managed to figure out that the one at the end is definitely Brain. Because Brain is the only one who would address Elempher as friend🤔
I believe so as well, but for what it's worth an imposter would know that Brain knows Ephemer
@@damo true😅 I admit the first scene with ‘Brain’ in the graveyard did confuses me
@@damo I think you haven't yet considered that Brain himself has TIME TRAVELED to the era of when Ephemer is known as the FIRST KB Master. And in order for him to arrive, he needs someone who has memories of him and a MEDIUM. Only then, would Brain's "Heart" and "his Heart only" would be able to take physical form.
The Medium? His Hat.
The Memories? Ephemer.

I really like the idea of Data Brain using Brain's real body as a vessel as he would lose it upon time traveling.
Mmm 🤔 definitely interesting
As someone who was more firmly of the belief that Luxu took Brain's body after sending Brain's heart to the future.... I have to say that you've convinced me haha. The continuous focus on the data backups fits really neatly as a clue into what happened and when combined with the secret report it makes too much sense to ignore. My biggest question now though - if Luxu left the box and his keyblade to the data Brain - is this: What is his "final task"?
And yes, personally, I prefer the longer "explainer" portions before the theory so that the relevant info is fresh in my mind. Good analysis dude!
I’ve heard of that theory too🙂
Oh~ like Schrödingers Cat... a body in a box...
There actually was. Almost all of them.
"the left brain, if you will" got me
I was thinking "but there'd be two hats", but then if we assume that DataBrain takes Brain's original body, then only one hat makes sense.
These are all different thoughts I had while watching this:
1) I feel its strongly hinted by Maleficent (and in your video showing the maleficent cutscenes) that the black box wasn't just hiding "somewhere", it was hiding some-"when" - and that the Keyblade War between Sora and Xehanort had to occur before the box was going to re-appear.
5) We know there's a reason we are deliberately shown two scenes with people who are implied to be Luxu:
One where he fights a darkness, even though he knows he can't kill it
One where he talks to Brain in strange manner, acting as if he has no idea about the situation at hand and asking him about everything going on, and either threatening or offering him something relating to his inevitable mortality.
Also doesn't eraques say after he battles terra: so i carry darkness inside me
I just took it as Luxu sent Brain forward in time and if you remember the rules of time travel in this franchise only your heart can move forward through time your body is either destroyed or stays behind.
Bingo
what made you assume Bragi is Luxu wtf
@@yodarusev because his name contains all the exact same letters as the other iterations of him and he seems to be the one most content to hang out with Xehanort and Eraqus during Dark Road. Just the fact his name is Bragi, a 2 letter difference from Braig, is a dead giveaway. This franchise does not do stuff like that out of pure coincidence so it's Common Sense really
@@yodarusev also keep in mind that Luxu admitted to body hopping from years in the KH3 epilogue. So Im not saying Luxu IS Bragi but I am saying he possessed him at some point.
@@OversoulGaming sounds more like a red herring if anything
And the name Bragi was taken directly from Norse mythology, it's the name of the god of poetry
the real question is why didnt they just take out data sora as a backup buh dum tss but seriously the theme of putting darkness into a vessel has been a thing in kh and that idea may have come from data brain staying behind encountering darkness. luxus keyblade ends up in scala proving this indefinatley . real brain staying with light while the other is darkness.
I once had a theory of my own.
Ask yourself this:
"If you knew exactly what was going to happen, and that it was going to happen either way - would you still play along, or would you go against it?"
I feel this is the dilemma that Luxu has been experiencing.
Now you might remember the Master's riddle:
"A black goat stashes away a letter, then orders a white goat to search for it."
The black goat is in the future, and with that, he is unknowingly able to share his wisdom with the white goat, residing in the past.
(Subject X?)
Marluxia may have been seeking the power of the keyblade to reunite himself with Strelitzia.
So Basically Xigbar and Sora are Obito and Naruto. Aight. I follow that.
"no other member of the Organization stood closer to Sora than Xigbar."
Roxas: "Am I a joke to you?!"
Thing is he’d have to pass the keyblade on first
Oh yeah 🤔
*suspense music*
Jokes aside, really cool theory.
Theory: Schrodinger's Brain
small game theory that if the True Dandelion is Strelitzia, it has trouble keeping form because the real Strelitzia was destroyed.
The ultimate KH plot: You leave your body to go to the future and let a computer version of you use your body in the past.
Youve done it again Damo! Legendary video
All this says to me is that’s it’s possible for Data-Sora to come back and go to the real world
I'm pretty surprised they just kinda abandoned him in there after he did for them in re:coded. I mean it's probably the same Data Sora in remind, but still...
@@damo they still acknowledged og data sora in kh3
it may happen
WOWOOWW yeah i like this theory!! guess we'll find out maybe in dark road in september or another future KH game
The BBS shots of young xehanort didn't use Ben Diskin for example because they hadn't cast him yet, so there's also a precedent for using existing actors to cover roles for non-fully revealed characters as well
Oop, this one hits different now
It would definitely be interesting if the old man was brain and the reason he watched over xehanort was he sensed the players and thus ephemers friend’s heart inside him and felt duty to protect it
Well i think the mother is Brain’s daughter cause she looks just like Brain. Meaning Eraqus and Xehanort were brothers
This makes a lot of sense. I like hearing your thoughts about why you came to this conclusion for the theory.
Had to rewatch this video because I forgot the details, but I still really appreciate this theory!!
One theory I have is that Lauriam and Elrena arrived in Dwarf Woodlands and Enchanted Dominion sometime, after Birth by Sleep, and before KH1.
Fantastic theory. I don’t believe anything anyone says until it happens, there’s so many questions that are unanswered. We shall see…
Would be so far out if we get an emotional view point were the darkness just wants to live...and fight for it.
It's crazy talk but it's also KH so I'll believe it.
Love your videos Damo! This format is great and I can't wait to see more!
Mabe the Master defender was passed down, just like No name was.
Skuld: two Brain is better than an Ephemer
Maybe the Black Box didn't exist "at that time" because it was sent through time in the remaining Arc.
I'm keeping you around Damo. You've earned the sub. 🙏🙏
Plot twist Luxord is data Brain and Demyx is data Ephemer!
For real though this a really good theory!
I literally came up with this theory a week ago. Glad I'm not the only one who thought of it! You did fill in some gaps tho!
Ooooh I love this explanation. I have similar thoughts but my main difference being that Luxu and Brain are the same person and that the Brain we've always seen is the data version aka a data Luxu. (I have a video introducing Temporal Paradox theory with Brain and Luxu)
However I didn't think about them retrieving the data version from data world and those are the two Brains we see now...
Talking about the black box they do say their data is probably locked away somewhere which I believe to be in that black box- and maybe the rest of real day real town (also have theory videos discussing the black box, the 7/sharing hearts, ancestry, and the purpose of Quadratum- aka a "heaven" for MoM's childhood loved ones)
Although I am still stuck on the keyblade graveyard cutscene cause it picks off were KHx backstory left off- with Luxu.
Mmmm….I mean you make a good point 😅
Wow this is so insightful, that it’s hard to not think it’s more than a theory and just true.
I’m gonna stick with this theory until we know more about it, I love it, though I’m not particularly fond of all the data related stuff becoming even more relevant to the lore. I’m just afraid it gets a big deus ex machina as the replicas
my Left Brain: hmm, yes, very interesting,...
my Right Brain: xehanort mom kinda qt tho
Imagine dragging around a hard drive in a big black box for a thousand years because there are 4 beings of darkness stuck on the mechanical disc. It's like Antikythera mechanism meets Pandora's Box.
Your use of ‘left and right brain’ is poetic given how the human brain works
That was the pun :P
@@damo ah🙂clever!😎
@@damo It definitely gives new meaning to 'Split-brain' in a computing sense. I wonder if that would produce the eventual 'data corruption'?
I saw a comment that made a lot of sense. Luxu took over brain's body but Brain was okay with it. Luxu did it to save him. Brain as a heart with no form traveled forward in time. there they had his hat as a medium and memories of him for his body to reform. So Luxu take's his body then in the future is brain with his new body.
They specifically mention in Union X that the heart alone can regenerate a body given the correct conditions.
The 20head lad doesn't miss
11:34 and that also highlights the stupidity in lauriam's goal.
finding data strelitzia won't help strelitzia in the slightest. he would just be replacing strelitzia with a data clone of her. he isn't saving anyone.
the real one would simply be heartbroken in the final world, wishing to fully enter the realm of death since no one wants her anymore.
replacement =/= resurrection
It might not be entirely plausible, but couldn't Luxu have bequeathed his No Name to Ephmer?
Best theory I can think of
I'm excited for Dark Road. It should drop the end of this month, in 5 days!
A data version of someone in the Real World........ Huh.
I mean....would Riku Replica be a data version of the Real One?
Close, but it would be like journal Riku from re:coded or Data Sora becoming real people. Which im kinda surprised they haven't already done honestly, Data Sora grew a heart and a keyblade after all
Sort of😅
@@damo I haven't played KH3 so ignore me if this happened already, I thought Sora's Data version would become the medium/vessel for Roxas/Xion to return as his/her own person. I'm caught up finally to start KH3 sometime this fall.
I love your kingdom hearts content
i didn't think they could use those data backups since they were locked up
i forgot we saw luxu with what appeared to be strelitzia's data backup moments ago -_-
i reckon its both brain but at separate times, and nomuras just messing with us, i reckon he bequeaths the keyblade an brains goes to scala, and after meeting that person he goes on to be luxus apprentice
Yeah, I agree with you. I also thought that it must be Ephemer.
Man, you and HMK must collab one day on these theories.
My theory is maybe that Brain returned to the Keyblade graveyard with the box after either time travelling or from the Unchained realm, and either met with Luxu again to return his keyblade and the box, or Luxu forcefully reclaimed it from him
However now that I really think about it, the glaring hole in this theory is that it leave no room for Brain to pass his keyblade on to an apprentice at all, no matter which way you spin it.
Hopefully they can find a situation where they are truly just brothers and sisters of his in one big family. xD
What if the Union Leader Luxu gave his keyblade to was Ava?
I wonder if the “data” Brain was the old man in the blue robe and that is somehow how NoName ended up in Scalam
He will become him
This means the virus the book was talking about is Luxu in Data Brain's body, hence the virus term.
Honestly I think brain might actually be yozora because of he read the book of prophecy and the book sees into the future it could be a reason that yozora ask sora when they first meet “YOUR SORA?” because he knows about sora but doesnt recognize him
I feel like Missing Link game, we’ll definitely explained what happened to Brain.
