Always listen to John live. Anything from this concert, but a deep rabbit hole. This song was actually a worldwide hit for John. Especially Europe & Britian.
@@TeacherPaulReactsIt was a world wide hit including the USA, but once John had kids he had no interest in touring overseas..... not unless his wife and kids toured with him. lol
I'm from Australia, John is a national treasure here, and without a doubt one of the most amazing performers in the world. He is 74 now, and up until recently, he was still performing live. You asked for suggestions - here is mine. Check out an older version of John in 2003 from "The Last Time" concert. This is a song called "When the War is Over" - it's one of my absolute favourite performances. ua-cam.com/video/BekbvlLzMWc/v-deo.html Also, always watch live versions of John Farnham, they are always something special.
You just happened to pick two songs from the same concert! He is the greatest male singer of all time no exceptions. I was lucky to see him live and wow what a performer !!
The voice, the power, the performance, the song, the meaning......... EPIC! The words to this song has the same meaning as it did 40 years ago. 👍👍👍❤️🇦🇺 Watching from Adelaide
This song went to top 10 in England and number 1 in some countries in Europe when it was released in the late 80s. Love John. There are five decades of songs to hear and look at. John’s band was playing as well as the orchestra for this concert.
"Did he say 'Noice'?" Hahahaha this made me cackle - Aussies have been known to pronounce nice like that :D As others have pointed out though, he said "Yours..." to encourage the crowd to take over the next few lines. He loves crowd participation. Glad you've discovered John - he's an all round nice bloke who just happened to be born with one of the most amazing voices ever. Great reaction. Oh and I'm watching from Adelaide, South Australia :)
This entire concert is absolutely world class. From John's incredible voice, his band, the backing singers and songs. But one of the stand out features of this concert is the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. The MSO had already performed with Elton John in 1986 and later with Meatloaf in 2004. G'day mate from Australia.
I’m an Aussie and was at this concert I have loved John all my life - check out John singing “Bridge over troubled water” when he was a bit younger or “when the war is over” when he is older at his last time concert bookends of his career enjoy
I have been to just so many John Farnham concerts and i have NEVER heard him hit a wrong note. His concerts are legendary. You leave them on an absolute high. He is the consumate performer and i have yet to see his equal. I love live concets....but John Farnham"s concerts are simply next level. He loves his audience and his audience loves him.
Australian here. John is literally a national treasure here and has been enthralling us for over 5 decades. We love him to bits! This song is a bit of an anthem here.
Greetings from Melbourne, Victoria Australia. Melbourne is the city where John grew up, lived in for some time, and made his career. It is an Arts-focused city, and has produced many talented singers and musicians. John likes to live in the nearby countryside, on farms, as he and his wife love and have horses.
You're the voice charted in the US and Canada back in the day. It was a major hit in UK, Sweden, Norway etc. Has also been used in US movies John also sang with Little River Band and Human Nature, both have success in the US
Oh gosh, I didn't get to go but it was a whole concert back in 1989 called Classic Jack and he performed with the MSO for the night. We usually reference John's live concerts as they are just amazing to watch and listen to.
One of the greatest vocalists of all time. Our John has been entertaining us for 50 odd years, and I don’t think he got the recognition he deserved over seas, probably because he didn’t tour much over there but focused on Australia. This entire concert was epic. An watch out for his mic and mic stand tricks, he’s such a great entertainer.
No but that concert went for 2.5 - 3 hrs and many of his famous songs were enjoyed. Help was the final encore of the night. Venue was the Australian Tennis Centre which holds >14,750 people. You're the Voice hit the top in many European countries in addition to Australia in 1986. The group Heart released it in Nth America. Try some of the up tempo songs like "It's a Long Way to the Top if You Want to Rock & Roll" or "This Time I'm Playing to Win" and see the fun musical battle between John's band and the orchestra, all in good humour.
I wonder if you heard Hearts version back in the day. No disrespect to Heart but this song belongs to John as he does it best! It’s his song. I’m glad you are enjoying his music! You have a long way to go with Mr. John Farnham. He truly is an Aussie Legend, Australia’s National Treasure. Great reaction. You should checkout When The War Is Over From The Last Time concert in 2003. 💗💗💗 John.
Most Aussies have english and scottish heritage therefore the love of bagpipes come from that. Aussie Bamd ACDC was probably one of the first Rock bands to introduce bagpipe into their music.
Now you have to listen to John sing Help at this same concert. He is amazing. This is John’s comeback song and biggest hit. John would never say noice. We are still a part of the UK and Bagpipes are loved. John sold out that venue more than 90 times in his career and that is just one Australian City. No, it is not his band but they love him. His band was there too and his Biography will be released in just over a week on DVD. Thank you.
Proud South Australian here :) John is the best! He didn't always sing with them. The band has been with him since day one.. love their relationship on and off stage.
👋 from Australia. This song was a hit in the UK and Europe. There is a LIVE performance in front of 100K strong German audience on UA-cam. Also pre fall of the Iron Curtain.
This was no.1 in Australia, West Germany, and Sweden, 3 in Ireland and Switzerland, 6 in Austria and the UK, 9 in Denmark, and top 20 in half a dozen other European nations.
at 4.15 he throws the microphone stand across stage, then at 4.52 he walks across stage and use his foot to pick it up - without missing a beat, greatest and a showman
South Aussie here: John is best served LIVE. I am an old hag. I have been a fan of John's since the days of "Sadie the cleaning lady" and "Raindrops keep falling on my head" There are a number of songs to choose from. "Its a long way to the top" LIVE ith the Melb Symphony Orchestra "Please don't ask me" - John Farnham and Olivia Newton John LIVE "Pressure Down" "Burn for You" LIVE "When the war is over" LIVE John performed with the Melbourne and Sydney Orchestra's plus his own backing band. The backing singers are singers in their own rights. Canadian group HEART did a cover of You're the Voice.
The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is not Johns band. (Although he did jokingly call them his Big Band) They performed with John during one series of concerts. You have just seen 2 performaces from the same concert. His band is simply called the Farnham Band. The regular members of his band have been with hime for over 30 years and they are some of the best musicians and vocalists in Australian. There are many other concerts and live performances for you to discover, as most were recorded and televised back in the day. Try Chain Reaction from the Chain Reaction concert next ....the production is equally as good as the one with the MSO. and you get to seeore of his regular band members m.ua-cam.com/video/xWGXmWB4tKQ2/v-deo.html6x
John did an awesome version of Amazing Grace with two of his backup singers, not sure of the year, late 80’s-early 90’s? One of the best versions I’ve heard.
the band "Heart" also recorded this song several years later, and they also performed it beautifully, however, nothing compares to the greatest Australian singer, Mr. John Farnham. You mentioned him at the same level as "Journey", with no disrespect to them, he is way above. He is arguably the greatest Australian singer of all time, he could have major international success - and when in Germany performed in front of over 100,000 John has performed in duets with Tom Jones, Stevie Wonder, Jimmy Barnes, Olivia Newton John, Celine Dion, Laura Branigan, Queen, Brian May (Queen), Richard Marx (who played piano) He was even rumoured to have been asked to become the lead singer for Queen in 2003. If you were to compare him to contemporaries from other countries, you need to look at the best of the best
No, this was just one concert with the orchestra. He has been solo and lead singer of Little River Band. He started in pop in the 1960s in Australia. Toured overseas with Little River Band. Preferred to stay here. A better singer than most.
Yes, there is a link. New, English owners threw out the local scots, loyal to the Laird, burned down their crofts, so they could not return, to raise sheep, In history. They all had to go somewhere. The scots are an inventive lot, some are geniuses too. No wonder aus is famous for great inventions. English 2nd sons, did not inherit the family holdings, so quite a few tried settling here too. There is at least one region in new zealand with a mainly scots populace too. A great farnsey song is "in Days to Come."
No John doesn’t always sing with the MSO, it was a special concert. You would have first heard John singing from the same concert. The song was probably Help (a Beatles cover) that he made his own. Another song from the same concert that I’d recommend is ‘It’s a Long Way to the Top If You Want to Rock and Roll’, an AC/DC cover.
The bagpipes are more of a mixed tradition with Scotland, though they fit this song perfectly, I've never heard another song use them in Australia. It doesn't mean they don't exist, but it's a strange instrument to hear in pop songs for sure.
The american music industry had it covered by heart and John didnt care for what they did with the song they rearranged it from his original they got rid of the bagpipes check out Blow by Blow same concert with mso from Aussie
the best way to describe John Farnham to those from abroad is that he's like John Cougar Mellencamp, Jon Bon Jovi, and a few others, rolled into a much better version. But that would be underselling John Farnham in an insane way.
Australian here 🙋♀️
❤😊 beautiful reaction
The MSO is almost 100 musicians and has been going for almost 100 years. I see them at least six times a year.
This concert was advertised as John and his Big Band !!
Always listen to John live. Anything from this concert, but a deep rabbit hole. This song was actually a worldwide hit for John. Especially Europe & Britian.
Yeah, it sounds familiar, sounds like a big hit!
@@TeacherPaulReactsIt was a world wide hit including the USA, but once John had kids he had no interest in touring overseas..... not unless his wife and kids toured with him. lol
The Voice, singing “You’re the Voice” can’t get much better then that especially with a orchestra behind ya
The piper is wearing the Australian National tartan

Also listen to his rendition of 'Black Dog', no video available unfortunately.
There is no video as it was John's warm up song before a concert he never sang it on stage.😜🙂@@wyattfamily8997

I was at this concert, it was OUTSTANDING. It's my equal first best concert ever attended. The other concert was Queen with Freddie Mercury.
Huge hit in many countries. Greetings from Perth West Australia. John is the best.

yeah, I think Paul missed the mic stand toss at around the 4.08 min mark of this video.

Hi from South Australia, I never get tired of this song or any that he sings really.

Hello, I'm an Aussie. Loved your reaction...
❤ I am in Oz it is 1-09pm he is amazing & love him to pieces.
It still blows my mind that legendary artists like John Farnham and Cold Chisel are relatively unknown in other parts of the world.
Aussie here. John always delivers.❤
A song everyone needs to live by right now
Aussie here, watching from Geelong, Victoria (about an hour from Melbourne).
John said ‘yours’ meaning it’s your turn to sing.

Aussie here who is from Melbourne (pronounced Mel-bin), who was at that concert.
G'day, from Wollongong Australia
This was a massive number one in the eighties!
God bless John farnham ❤

You may of heard it in a movie . The song was played in the riot scene of the 2007 movie Hot Rod
He said 'Yours' not noice.
Both the songs are from the same concert, it went for over 2 hr 25 min finished at 12 .25 am in the morning
Thank you ! Viewing from a 25 degree sunny winter's day in Sydney.

This IS the Australian National Anthem!!
To get an idea of John's whacky and endearing personality watch John Farnham - Angels LIVE 2000.
Don't forget we're a multicultural country.

John has had number ones in 5 consecutive decades and how have Journey gone?
Probably 40% of Australians would have Scottish heritage.
Most of the songs were at this concert
I would 🎉reacting to the encore from this concert, his version of Help
do you have a link?
No we don’t particularly have a tradition with bagpipes but John felt they would work well with this song.
Yes we do. All Australian military bands include bagpipes.
They had to change the key that the song was written in as bagpipes only play in one key...b flat I believe, so they changed everything else.
👍
The music is an ORCHESTRA
Australia had a lot of Scottish immigrants. I'm descended from some!
He said “chorus”
No, it was 'Yours!'
Who's list? No angels, your kidding right.
🇦🇺👍
No he didn’t say nice, he said yours, meaning your turn to sing.
Or kes stra?. It's actually just one word mate
Make reaction to Nancy Ajram’s new music video - tegy nenbest plz
And, no John isn't always with an orchestra. Regards
I’m sorry, I couldn’t watch all of this. You talked over the top of the start of the clip as well as over too much of the video.
🇦🇺👍
