I had all since 2018, the 2022 SB15 was the best so far.
Good to know. I still have quite a bit left in this bottle so I think I will be good for a while. I will pick up another bottle once this one is just about gone so I can batch compare.
Found this at my local total wine. Would loved to buy it, but at $243.00 out the door I had to pass. Keep up the great reviews.
I agree. 243.00 is definitely way too much.
Peter, love the 15 year. Like you say, loads of sherry and some oak and fruits. Picked up a few of the 2019s since the price was 95. Beautiful. My favorite SB so far is the Local Barley. Have tasted the 9 and 10 years. Oily and a touch of lemon I really enjoy.
I really like this bottle as well. I have the 10, 12 CS and the 15. I don't see or get an other offerings in my area. I think these 3 will be fine, but if I see something else I will certainty pick up a bottle.
Enjoying the video I just picked up a 15. I won the lottery to get it. You can’t find them on the shelf but I don’t want to open it until I have a back up. Picked it up for $150 Canadian
I know Springbank is tough to get in a lot of areas, but for some reason it's always on the shelf in Total Wine and More in Phoenix. I find that to be very strange. 🤔
Hey @kirbycalgary2844 greetings from Calgary. Enjoy your lottery purchase.
@@Watchman999 thanks I will. Are you going to be at the whiskey festival in January and a merry Christmas and happy new year
@@kirbycalgary2844 hey no I’m not at the MS whisky festival in Jan. Cheers.
I bought the 15 off the shelf at the LCBO about 5 years ago....and was FLOORED by how good it was. Since then I have only seen it in lotteries, and I did win one from a lottery last year....that was like a dream come true....such an amazing bottle. My favourite so far....
This bottle will probably be my peated scotch of the year for 2024.
I have 3 bottles of this one. Had 4. Lol. Gotta have it gotta have it. If you can get it 1... get 2 instead. My favorite Scotch distillery at the moment as well.
Like I mentioned in other comments from this video. This will probably be my peated scotch whisky of the year for 2023.
A lot of hype about Springbank mainly because of availability. No question that the 15 is a wonderful single malt, but Glen Scotia 15 is just as good at half the price. I would love to see you do a blind head to head between Springbank 12 CS and Glen Scotia Victoriana.
I have both bottles. I will put them in my sample pool when I get home today. Cheers!
Love the Victoriana I have a bottle of the last batch and last batch of the 15 both ripper drams at good prices. Springbank is like 250 aud for the 10 year and not even available near me.
Love the 15, the nose has a unique note for me that reminds me of how bandages used to smell and I absolutely love it. Great review, cheers!
Thanks! I'm loving this bottle as well. Cheers!
I finally was able to get a bottle of 10, but haven't even seen a 15 in my locality. After watching this I want one even more.
I don't know why, but the 15 is always available in Phoenix. I hope you find one soon.
Big fan of Springbank 15. Do not get any funk. Drink it on Fridays with Zino Platinum Scepter. Have 2 backups.
It will probably be my scotch of the year for 2023.
@whiskeyisajourney as for me it's the scotch of century.
Great Scotch, but there is better out there for less money. Personally like a lot of IB Mortlachs and Craigellachies more. The 12 CS of Springbank is sublime though.
Agreed. The 12 CS is good! Cheers.
Great review Peter! Anything Springbank is hard to find in most markets these days so you are one of the lucky ones that happen to live where it's available. Judging by yours and other reviews, it sounds like a good dram. I managed to get a bottle around mid summer purely by coincidence when a very small qty got posted as available. I look forward to opening it when a special occasion calls for it and will make sure to savor it over a long period of time.
Like I said in a few other comments. I'm baffled by distribution. I don't think I will ever understand why hard to get bottle are found in my area and not in others. Phoenix Arizona of all places. Why?
Terrific review Peter! I love SB 10 and I'd love to find the SB 15! If I do I will definitely pick some up! It's an expression I want to try! Sounds amazing! I admit I am a lover of higher echelon single malts and sophisticated pours! I have to hunt this beauty down!! Cheers!
I think it's a bottle worth hunting for sophisticated drinkers. 😁
@@whiskeyisajourney I am definitely on the hunt!! Thanks so much Peter!! Have an awesome day! 🙂
As always I great review that we all appreciate 🥃 cheers
Thank you so much. I appreciate the feedback. This is a good one if you can get it in your area. Cheers!
I am a Springbank nerd but I've heard that there can be sulphur problems with the 15 year. It always blows my mind that distillers can ruin entire batches of whisky by using crappy casks. I hope the bottle I recently purchased is not a sulphur disaster. Cheers.
I hope your bottle is as good as mine and not ruined by sulphur. Cheers!
I saw a Springbank bottle on a shelf over a year ago and passed on it and never seen one since lol. I always keep an eye out now after enjoying other Campbeltown offerings.
I saw the 18 on the shelf right after I shot this video and couldn't pass it up. I've never seen it before and it's possible I'll never see it again so I had to buy it. Happy I did because it's really good.
It would have been hilarious if you skipped it 😂 Much wailing and gnashing of teeth! These are good, solid malts and I like all of them. The hype and hysteria is a little overblown but there is no denying that they are tasty.
When I started my journey I was skeptical about all the hype surrounding Springbank, but now I understand why people go crazy for it. Granted it is overblown, but still very very good. The 15 will probably end up being my peated scotch of the year for 2023.
Man I dunno if I just had a bad batch but my bottle of SB15 was terrible. Not a sherry bomb… a sulphur bomb. Tried everything-different amounts of water, letting it open up for various amount of time (even over an hour), etc…. So disappointing as I’ve been waiting to buy this bottle for several years.
I thought it would have had more of a sherry influence, but it was subtle compared to other sherry matured offerings I've had and that sulfur note can kill the flavor in a hurry.
Nice one Peter! I haven't had the 15 but I absolutely love the 10
If you like the 10 then I think you would love the 15. It will probably be my scotch of the year for 2023.
would like to have a try but no way im paying £180 plus for a bottle and even more for the the 10 year!. maybe one day. cheers
I hear you. They are expensive.
Picked up a 10 yr and 15 yr ...look forward to trying
They are both good, but not as peated as I thought they would be. Still very nice. Cheers!
I have two bottles each of the 10 and 15. Both are precious to me and I sip them s l o w l y. I probably won't replace them given the price here in Prague. The 12y for example is hundreds of dollars, and there might only be one or two bottles in the country.
Enjoy them while they last and hopefully along the way you will stumble upon more at a better price.
I would like to try them but they highly overpriced when ever I see them in stores. Spring Banks.
That is completely understandable.
I'm weird in that I prefer the 10. It's the ex-bourbon vs. ex-sherry thing for me, I guess.
Oh. Speaking of ex-bourbon stay tuned for the video coming out Friday.
Nice review. Springbank is not sold in my state and I have never been able to find one even on a trip to Scotland. Sounds delicious
It took me a while to appreciate the flavor profile of Springbank, but once I got it...I got it! It really is delicious.
Springbank 15 is a soft sip for me, mostly because I've been able to get Hazelburn 15 year, which is just a little more expensive but with a significant proof bump. For quite a bit less, Glenallachie 15 year, while different, is almost as good, IMO. I guess we'll see what I do when I finally run out, lol.
The bottle of Glan Allachie I have drank hot until about half way through the bottle. Now that it has calmed down it's holding its own in blinds.
@@whiskeyisajourney I get that. I have a couple single barrel picks from Glenallachie that get better every time I revisit them. The realm of 150 price whiskey is one of fierce competition.
In MT, they had 12, 15, 18(?) on the shelf, In PA, they have none.......... never picked up on, wish I did, its one of the ones that got away I guess.....
Hopefully there will be other opportunities in the near future. I've never seen anything other than the 10, 12, and 15.
@@whiskeyisajourney Ohio, West Virginia, and Maryland is only 1-1/2 hours away…. Heard they have great picking spots.
No sooner than I say I've only seen the 10, 12, and 15...I went into Trevor's liquor in my area and boom the 18 is on the shelf. I bought it.😜
Would love to try this one day…not available in my area. 😢
You are not alone. Distribution always confuses me. Not sure why it's always available in Phoenix. 🤔
Springbank has quite a bit of batch variance...care to share what date is on the laser code on the bottom back of the bottle?
My bottle code on the back is 6/14/21. I just picked up a bottle I have never seen before in my area. Springbank 18! I was shocked to see it. Bottled 5/11/23
@@whiskeyisajourney That's awesome! Looking forward to that review. Mind sharing what you picked it up for in Phoenix? I've spotted it here in Seattle, but for $300 + our insane tax, so it would have been $365. I couldn't do it at that price.
@@travismorita2236 $279.99 plus 8.6% tax $304.07 total
are you using a APP to have all your whisky in your phone?
Yes. It's called spin the wheel random picker.
All I heard was it is soapy. Sounds horrid... send them my way, and I'll ensure they are properly disposed of. I'll take the hit for the team.
I bet you would! Umm...let me think about that and I'll get back to you. 🤣
@@whiskeyisajourney worth a, pun intended, shot.
