I did a flight of eight US whiskies at Christmas with my brother in law. The Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel 100 ABV won out for me. Loved that banana, cherry note! Makes me very curious about how much better this barrel proof could be!

Try it a bit warmer, by using hands or a bigger glas with hot water and put the whisky glas in it or just over it. Just great!

Happy New Year. Usually dont drink cocktails due to the sugar content, but instead mix with zero sugar pop (soda). Bourbons, scotches, malts….gets cola. Ryes and malts…..get root beer. Cheers!

Knob creek 9yr single barrel reserve 120proof is definitely a sipper. I have others I'll share but that one is mine alone. It's that good.

If you read the back WT 101 label, it states, "...aged for up to six to eight years...", which is confusing. If it's aged up to 6, that means 6 years max, so putting the 8 yrs after that, is just meant to confuse people into thinking there could be stuff older than 6 yr (up to 8yr) when they just said, up to 6 yr. If it was aged up to 8yr, then that's all it would state. There is no reason to write, "up to 6yr", if there is anything older than 6yr in it. I think it's strange how many whiskey reviewers interpret that as meaning it's aged 6 to 8yrs, when it is actually 6 yr or lower.

Yeah, in Southern NV, Weller anything is never on shelves. Couple weeks ago, I had to win a lottery to buy Weller 107 at $60 + tax.. Saw 1 bottle of Weller Special Reserve in a casino/hotel gift shop marked up to an insane $57!! Paying $20-25 is prob not even a good value for that. Though E.H Taylor BiB bourbon $60-70 & BiB Rye $80, now sits on shelves. There's not a lot, but they are there & don't move much at those prices. Buffalo Trace just dropped to $19.98 & there's pallets available all day, every day.

My favorite "cocktail" or mixed drink is barrel proof straight bourbon mixed with barrel proof straight rye. How to make: pour some bourbon into your favorite whiskey glass. Add some rye. Swirl, nose, wait a few mins if you like. Taste & proof down if you desire.

PA folk here, we got them dang ol' Pennsly-tucky state stores. Took these kooks over a hundred years to bring in some Sagamore. As a Bartender I had the pleasure of getting a bottle of the double oak squozzen' in with our liquor order...(very impressed) Let me tell you, first time to the channel, because i had to hear reviews of everything else they have to offer. We keep a case of this on the shelf along with the standard cheap Henry McKenna at the liquor store. It’s around $62 not allocated. We can order and get it every 2 weeks. But we are in south central KY too that makes a difference.

Wow funny how prices are all over the place. Can't find RB Rye here in eastern Nebraska for less than $55. This is on my list to get when I drink down some other bottles. I love an Old Pal with Rye and Boulivardier with bourbon. Cheers!

It's very smooth and with water it gets smoother. If you want to enjoy a whiskey and maintain your health at the same time then this is the way to go... For regular drinkers you need to go slow with this one as you tend to drink more pegs coz of smoothness... Happy drinking! 😊

Went to ASU and University Of Texas, so it's a semi hard choice. Got 2 nephews in the Air Force currently in Phoenix and Tucson, but I live in Texas so I'm pulling for the Longhorns.

Happy New Year Peter! My cocktail preferences are pretty basic: Manhattans, Old Fashions, Rob Roys and Rusty Nails.

One of my favorites 2 Oz whiskey 1 /2 Oz vanilla liqueur 1 /2 tsp ginger, fresh, grated 1 /3 Oz maple syrup 2-3 dashes orange bitters 1 orange peel, 1-inch round piece Combine whiskey, vanilla liqueur, ginger and maple syrup in shaker. Add ice and shake well. Strain through a tea strainer into a glass. Dash bitters on top of the cocktail. Float orange disc on top of your drink and serve.

Frey Ranch "Farm Strength" was my absolute favorite this year. Never had it before but I picked it up at an allocated sale at my grocery store as a random taste. $60 bottle but I'm still trying to decide if it is the best bourbon I've ever had... It might take the whole bottle to decide because I know where to get more... Lol

I had a bottle of the double wheated ready to be picked up but passed on it for a peerless double oaked rye… I hope I made the right choice

The pour of the 13 I had at a whiskey bar was way too oak forward. The Baker’s 7 (8yr1mo) and Knob Creek 15 I have are much better. I think the $35 Beam SB I have is a more flavorful pour than that 13 too. There’s been way too many subpar LE’s for the prices these distilleries are charging. Great comparison at the end. Cheers 🥃

Great list! I knew the RR15 would take your top bourbon! That JD SBBS Rye was my winner last year and I have a different bottle that might win it this year!

I really like the 2024 Baker's 13. As you mention, it's a much more well rounded bourbon than the 7 year (mine is also 8Y7M). Over about a month of time the 7 really improved for me. If the 13 does the same, I will be very happy. I found my 13 for $110 at TW in TX. Cheers!

Well, one year later at the Costco Katy Mills, Texas I found a cigar blend batch 351 for $200 beforetax. I think I’ll give it a go to get it off the bucket list.

Bakers 7 is one of favourite go to bottles over here it's one of the cheaper options at around $95-$115AUD and at the 107proof that's a bargain in Australia....
