Thanks! Really enjoyed this video! Hoping to find springbank near me sometime!
Thank you Chase. I have you down for 1 entry in May and 1 entry in June. Best of luck! I appreciate the support. Cheers!
Nice vid Peter. Never had either as not sold in my state.
Good luck in competition
Thanks. It's going to be so much fun! I'll let everyone know how we do on June 7th
Now we need a 15 vs 18 battle.
It's in my sample pool. Cheers!
Great head to head Peter!
I’m definitely more of a fan of the 15 for sure. I think it’s my favorite peat/sherry combo out there.
They are good, but I would like them to be more sherry forward for my personal taste. I wonder if people are correct saying older bottles are. Cheers!
Peter, 2 great scotch. Mine are older bottlings of 2017 to 2020. The 15 year is a BIG sherry scotch. I like the "lightness" yet great flavors of the 10. CHEERS.
I have heard that older bottles are more sherry forward.
From Surprise, AZ: Funny that I live in the Valley of the Sun and never heard of Trevor’s. Glad you put me on to that, nearest one is Indian School and 36th, still a little drive but I’ll definitely make it to check it out. I’m so far on the West Side. I usually hit Total Wine or BevMo.
Trevor's is definitely worth checking out. They have a Facebook page Trevor's Liquor Rewards, Trevor's Liquor, and Trevor's Beer Club. It keeps you up to date with any special releases. Check them out. And it's not just a liquor store. It's a restaurant as well so you can make a day of it or a trip of it. Head down there. Grab a drink, grab a bite to eat.
You’re so lucky to get Springbank on the regular. We used to, but now no more. Last time spring bank was here. The 10 year was $89 and the 15 year was 160. Pre-pandemic the 15 year was $101 and the 10 year was$68. I missed those days. I also agree with your findings. The 15 is better than the 10 but at the current price points I’d have to just enjoy the 10-year-old from Springbank.
I am sipping on my bottles very slowly so I don't have to buy more bottles for a while. Cheers!
I agree with all of your notes, with the exception of how funky the SB 10 is, on the nose. Here in Las Vegas, we can also get both of these, fairly readily, but for higher prices than what you paid in Phoenix. IMO, I see SB 10 as a high-quality, every day drinking Scotch, whereas the 15 feels more special and something that I want to savor and spend time with. But, both are excellent examples of quality-made single malt.
I'm with you. I'm sipping mine slowly and savoring the quality of the 15. Cheers!
Nice battle! I rarely see these on shelves in CT.
Call Phoenix lucky I guess. Cheers!
I am looking forward to this one....
Oh Tony this is nothing. You are going to flip out at the end of June. My sister and I batch shot 4 sip or skip videos and at the end of the last one we did a blend of all the different whiskies for the month.
@whiskeyisajourney I mean, excited, but now I have to wait! Ok ok. No spoilers.
Love both and the 15 is my fave!! Terrific comparison Peter!!
Thanks!
Ahhhh Springbank.. is it worth the hype.. I once did a flight at a Whisky Bar of Springbank 10, Springbank 12 Cask Strength, Kilkerran 12, and Kilkerran 16... Safe to say l enjoyed all of them and the Springbank 12 Cask Strength and the Kilkerran 16 were top 2 but for the price of a Springbank bottle here in Australia $250 for the regular 10 and $280+ for Cask Strength Ahhhh I just can't see the hype when I can find the Kilkerran range for $80 -$100 less.. What do you think??? Would be interesting to see you do that flight I had and rank them or even just a Springbank v Kilkerran... Cheers Peter Dram on buddy 🥃👊🥃
At those prices it is Kilkerran 100% of the time. I'll see what I can do about that flight. Cheers mate!
Good job Peter . Cheers !
Thank you! Cheers!
I prefer the 10 because i'm poor 😅
))))))
I hear that! Cheers!
Nice! My local BevMo seems to get the 15yr regularly for 170.00. Not really my interest, never had any Springbank.
I find it strange that some places have it regularly while others don't. Distribution is puzzling.
I think the price difference is worth it!!
I think so as well, but it's close. A little more price gap between the two and I might be out on the 15.
I hear you!
Good whisky but expensive , 10 yo 85-90 euro 15 yo.160--180 .......
It is expensive. I am on my 1st bottle of each and don't reach for them very much due to the price.
I had no idea our hero here is a professional barbecue pitmaster. Pretty awesome. I’m wondering, has there ever been a whiskey so bad you poured it into the water pan of your smoker? Or is there a a whiskey that you’ve used for a marinade? Westland had an interesting coffee rub whiskey steak recipe that was interesting.
I have not used any of my bottles in the smoking process, but I did give a bottle away to my sister to make vanilla extract with. I do have to say that smoking meat is a rabbit hole and I can see myself doing experimentations with whiskey in the future.
@@whiskeyisajourneyyears ago I had some drain pour whiskey that I poured into the water pan as the smoker was getting to temp. The smoke smelled of vanilla and some cinnamon. Don’t know if it impacted the flavor of the meat. It was years ago since I did it. May try it again with some bottles I got stuck with in a bundle.
Hey are the BBQ events cooking competitions?! Sounds fab!
Yes. The first one is in Riverside at the Brewn'Que Festival and we are cooking ribs and chicken only. The next one is the Ignite Festival in Temecula and we are cooking ribs, chicken, pork, and brisket. Should be a blast!
Sounds fabulous Peter!! It will be a blast for sure!!👍
