All hail the Rockwell 6s. If I knew then what I know now, when I was starting out, I wouldn't have bothered with the Merkur 34c or the Edwin Jagger DE89... Just buy a Rockwell 6s and baby, it's job done! You just can't beat it 👍
Buying the Merkur is actually the one razor I regret buying. The coating on the head started to flake off in just 2 years of use. And underneath is just zamak. So it's only suited as a paperweight now.
6S is my favorite too. The 6C shaves just as well for half the price. The 6C would be a great option for those getting into DE shaving and not knowing how aggressive a razor to choose.
An FYI, SL: Both 316 and 316L stainless steel are marine grade. 316L has less carbon content, making it better than regular 316 at resisting corrosion, and it doesn't require post-weld annealing (the slow cooling of the welds in a heat treatment furnace). That being said, I too love both of these razors.
I started with Parker 72R and almost gave up wet shaving because of the nicks and razor burn. Then someone (Mark Szorady) recommended the Rockwell 6C. I should have started with the 6C as it's really 6 razors for the price of one and it gave me what I needed to get my skin use to DE shaving, non-aggressive settings. I shaved with this razor for 9 months yielding great BBS shaves in the later months. Then I started eyeing the Rockwell Model-T and finally pulled the trigger in my 9th month of wet shaving. The Model-T is a longer/larger/heavier razor than the 6C. The head is larger and completely encloses the razor blade, no exposed tabs. The extra length and weight makes this razor glide through my beard growth without any effort on my part, "Let the razor do all the work". I always get a BBS shave with no irritation with this razor. Note, this also has to do with shaving technique and blade angle, but the weight of the Model-T gets the job done with very little effort. Another observation is that the Model-T, being a TTO razor, puts a lot more tension on the blade than the 6C. This may be the main reason why this razor glides through my beard so easily. IMHO, I believe Rockwell razors are the King of the Hill.
True. One point of difference that we (in our biased opinion of course) believe is worth noting. Our razor is CNC machined with 316 American made steel stainless steel. The Rockwell razor is made by injection molding and their steel is not US made.
Very nice exhibition. I would have been surprised if the Rockwell wasn't the winner. My 6C gives me an effortless and nick-free shave too. I normally use the R-3 plate. I need to grow my beard for 3 days so I can give the R-5 a try. Enjoy your weekend.
Great vid, SL!! Just got notice from Rob that my special one-of-a-kind Merica razor (Greenland Flag) will ship next week. You'll be able to see me use it on my shaving channel *SIG SOLO* when it arrives!! Have a great wknd and Stay Safe! 🤙
Still on the fence wether to buy the rockwell. But, today, having my walk in the sun. I enjoyed a cold can of Oskar Blues" G'Knight. Straight from your nack of the woods. I felt a connection. Have a great weekend!!
Wonderful comparison video. I've got the Rockwell 6s. It's my favourite modern razor. Effortlessly efficient and comfortable shave. Please use the Chella cool aftershave more regularly.
Yesss! I'm excited to see you review the King Gillette! I saw it at Walmart and grabbed it as my first safety razor, I personally like it a lot and with watching you I've been able to stay knick free somehow. Looking forward to it :)
Love my 6S. Can't go wrong with that or the 6C for an adjustable and to find your preferred number. Merica looks like a fantastic razor as well. Stainless steel all the way!
I love the King C! The only complaint I have is that the handle needs some knurling...too slick! So, I switched out the handle...easy fix I guess. Looking forward to your review. Oh, btw, the Rockwell is my favorite as well.
Is it possible to do a sunny outdoor shave? Like if you were camping. The weather is getting warm and just wondering if its ok to ask. I know you have a code of no showin nips. But a tank top, a hot pot of water, mini mirror, and then BAM!!!! Camp shave style in the sun! Just letting you know that skylight is begging to let more sunshine in.
Beautiful shaved Bob, I will see for the purchase of the Merica about two years ago I bought the Parker 99R TTO after a video of you and even if I am not a fan of TTOs I am very happy with it. 👋🇮🇹
I am definitely picking up the Merica - and since this video Sinatra has his own signature Merica - I also love the 6S it’s a great razor, really one of the best for me!
Hi Sinatra, Dave from England here. I found it strange that on none of the 6S packaging did it say where it was made. I always thought it was made in the states. I like my 6S. I'm really into Razorock SS razors at present. Having my usual enjoyable shaves 2-3 times a week stopped because my partner contracted the Corona virus and so I was her 24-7 carer for our 10 day isolation which was a very worrying time. This was 3 weeks ago now and at the end I had the enjoyable task of removing 7 days growth with my Razorock Gamechanger •68 open comb. It was a great shave! I hope you are keeping well and safe Sir! Dave.
Great shave, Sinatra! I got the 'Merica razor based on your recommendation and I am enjoying it. Thanks for the reviews. This was a fun head-to-head with the Rockwell. I own the 6C that is one of my favorites.
Thank you for the shout out my friend, always like watching your videos great shave and all, oh fun stuff as well oh man i have 5 different cans of foam, 2 missing the yellow skin Conditioner and the Arctic Chill haven´t seen them on E-bay or the site i bought the other from Stay safe, Cheers....Peter
Hi there! I just wanted to say is that the magnet on the Merica Razor is NOT NEW. The QSHAVE PARTHENON had it loooooooong before. Just for you to know. 🤗
Not sure it was the Merica that nicked ya: I just started wet shaving, and the first soap that I got was cella. I just purchased a Merkur 34G and Feather blades to use with the soap. At first, I started with standard Barbasol, and that worked no prob...the next day, I used Cella, and I got nicked up pretty bad. After that, I went back to the Barbasol no problem; then back to the Cella, and it was nick city. I don't know, I'm new to the world of DE, so maybe it's just me; however, it does seem that the Barbasol is a bits slicker that the Cella. I just purchased some Proroso Pre-shave, and see if that changes things up a little.
True. As I stated above, but I wanted to point out to you, one point of difference that we (in our biased opinion of course) believe is worth noting. Our razor is CNC machined with 316 American made steel stainless steel. The Rockwell razor is made by injection molding and their steel is not US made.
Hey got a question my saftey razor I have bought has a slight bend on the top metal cap and also the blade bends in the middle is this normal?? Btw love your videos just subscribed!
Hi Sinatra, big fan from the UK. my girlfriend doesn’t get the videos or the collection of shaving cream I have but still love the videos. Taylor of old Bond Street is my favourite. Would love a shout out if you could mate 👍🏻

Mate, my go to are the King C and the Mihle R41 depending on how long has it been. If you like these you should try the razorock .84p game changer. Very affordable stainless razor and it shaves more like the 6s on your setting but has a more compact head like the merica. I believe it's Canadian made.
Thanks for the Super Shou Out SinatraLennon. Tell Flossy Carter that i can carry with pride the flag from Barbasol Patrol. Because with Barbasol you get the best shave that´s all. :) ;)

The Rockwell 6S is also made in the U.S. Rockwell 6C is made in China. The Rockwell 'T' parts are made in U.S. and China (assembled in Canada.)
Don’t know if this was clarified but the Rockwell 6S is made in the USA, the 6C in China - hope that helps. Great video!!!

I believe the .016 blade gap spec is a typo on their webpage. I measured my 'merica at .027" which is the same as the spec for Rockwell plate 5.
And the winner is...you!
Whatever razor you pick, you get a life time of wonderful shaves.
Just a heads up the Rockwell 6S is also made in the USA.
True. One point of difference that we (in our biased opinion of course) believe is worth noting. Our razor is CNC machined with 316 American made steel stainless steel. The Rockwell razor is made by injection molding and their steel is not US made.
