Thanks for the T2 vs 6S comparison shave. I don't have a T2 but the 6S is my favorite of all the DE razors I do have...including my adjustables. I always get a BBS, smooth, and nick-free shave with the 6S. An adjustable razor sounds like it would be the best kind to get. But once you find the right setting/plate, an adjustable isn't really necessary for me at least. As we like to say...YMMV.
I'm 28 and just got my first safety razor thanks to your videos!! (King C Gillette it was on sale in my country). I usually don't like shaving and trying avoid it as much as I can, but that was absolutely fantastic shave experience, not perfect of course need more practice, at least I didn't get razor burn. Next step is to buy your signature brush and also I'm already thinking about Rockwell 6s! Thank you so much keep making great videos!!!
Just goes to show you different razors/blades affect people differently. I started with the walmart van der hagen. It feels cheap and recently fell apart but for the half a year it lasted, it was great. I didnt know anything about technique whatsoever. I just wet my face, put cream/shave butter on and then did one pass, against the grain every other day. Barely any nicks or irritation (and its a fairly aggressive razor I believe). Then I got the king c Gillette. Far more premium and also far more mild. After getting it I improved my technique, switched to proper pre/post shave methods and upped it to 2-3 passes, am getting constant irritation and nicks. Still room for improvement but this razor doesn't take off enough hair so i need more passes then my skin can handle. Gonna grab the rockwell 6c actually. Well renowned razor and with 6 settings it is guaranteed to have a setup that is best for my hair/skin. Im glad the Gillette works for you though! It's a robust and quality razor!
I know this is an old vid…. But I just got my T2 in the mail today. Can’t wait to use it. Your reviews help me make informed purchases and rarely have buyers remorse. 👍🏼👍🏼
@@gregsullivan7408 have had it nearly 6months. And use it nearly every day. I like mild shaves. For every day use I like the 2 setting. If I skip a day or two, I start at 4 for the first pass and then down to 2 for the second pass. The quality and craftsmanship is worth the money spent. I typically use the Rockwell blades because I got the 100 pack in the set. No issues with the blades either.
Another fine shave, can’t beat the Rockwell razors, my go to is the 2c plate 3. Reference settings according to the charts should be the same gap no matter which Rockwell ur using. Cheers🍻🥃
I have both and the 6S usually gives a slightly closer shave. I have been nicked by both on rare occasions. I also have the Rockwell 'small' synthetic brush and I love it because it's so soft - no stiff bristles to irritate my face. Enjoy your videos.
Great video, thanks for sharing. I like all the Rockwell products and have everything you demonstrated. I use the small brush for travel. Rockwell 6s on plate 3 is a go-to for me.
Aho there my wet shaving friend. And I understand your predicament. I’m asked often what’s the better razor… the Gillette Fatboy or Gillette Slim. My answer is always, you can shave with the same razor and blade twice and get different results… or get a different results on one side of your face then the other in the same shave. With either razor… as I’m sure is the case here with the Rockwell Razors… with proper technique you can get the very best possible shave, and you can’t do better than the “best possible shave.” So it comes down to aesthetics, feel and comfort holding the razor. You can’t go wrong with either razor, as I’m sure is the case here. Blessings to you and yours. Aho! ✋🏼
6S finish is matte, which creates friction when shaving, do you feel this way? In comparison to chrome finishes, which glides on the skin effortlessly?
I’m so glad you did this even though I’m late but you have the same facial structure as me and I’m younger trying to figure out which one would be better for my face thank you for your review
Great to see the showdown. Seems like you can’t go wrong either way. I see Rockwell posted another hint on their Instagram. Can’t wait to see you give the new one a spin.
Hey Sinatra from Canada! Just a friendly mathematician here and I've been watching you for about a year now, solid content, I love it. My birthday is this Friday (maybe a birthday shoutout to Robert, I'm turning 24)! I indulged myself in a new synthetic brush and thinking of getting a Rockwell 6S 😄
The "swappable" 6S has its charms. Sometimes, I will use rubber gloves when handling the 6C's plates. Can't help it! I love to change the settings on the fly. Awaiting the mystery razor! Thank you for the shout out! All the best of health to you and your family!
Would be interesting if you can get your hands on some Mitchell's wool fat soap. I hear stories about how hard this stuff is to lather, how some people hate it and some people swear by it. Always liked the look of the 6s but I also really like being able to turn down my Flexi to 1 on the fly for against the grain, too much work swapping out plates. If they could come up with a way to do a true dial-adjustable 6s that would sell like hot cakes, because i don't think the t2 quite achieves that.
Almost. It only covers the very mild to medium range of aggressiveness. That is why I bought a Fatip open comb for a gentle step up and an R41 for a bigger step for those days when I'm bored with the 6S or want to get a closer shave and/or take off a few days growth at once. Now if the 6S had a 7+8 plate as well as open comb options for longer growth then it certainly would be the only razor you'll ever need.
The T2 provides some great shaving ASMR, like applying butter to a piece of toast. As I have said before, I have both the S and C and mainly use the C plate 3 or 4 depending on much growth there is. Plate 3 as the daily driver and 4 if there is more than one days growth. I don’t want the Red paint on the S to become grungy lol Cheers!
The powder scent you noticed at the end from the balm sounds like Clubman Pinaud, it is a true classic Barbershop fragrance. The aftershave splash on Amazon is only $13 for a 12.5 ounce bottle, $8 for a 6 ounce.
I’m coming off of a Jeremys version two cartridge razor which is the best cartridge one I’ve ever used. After one and a half passes I get a BBS shave. But I’m thinking about switching to Rockwell and I don’t know that I want to change the plates out because I also don’t know what number I should use. Do you think it’s worth it for $100 to go for the adjustable or should I just get used to changing plates out until I find the number that I like?
Hi Sinatra Lennon, Dave here from Bristol, England. What I like about the 6S, is that every plate is smooth. I find with true adjustables that the higher you go up the scale, the more smoothness you lose. I can't speak for the T2 as I don't own one. But I do find it on my Parker Variant and my Futur. Is this the case with the T2? If so.......that would make the 6S a winner for me! Another great video mate! Dave.
After watching and hearing you rave about the 6s I’ve actually ended up with 2! I’ve settled on plate 5 and do get equal shaves from my old Aristocrat, q-shave cheapy on setting 5 and a Muhle R89 with 2 shims. What makes the 6s shine though is that I never get nicks and can whip it around like a ninja with a katana. With everything else I’ve tried I have to take my time. Shame you cut with the T2 but for me the 6s is unbeatable.
I just bought the 6s and wish I bought it when it first came out. I was in the military and got tired of the cartridge razor. Its was expensive and clogs very fast.
I bought the 6S around blk Friday & have wondered if the T2 is better. Happy to hear it is a draw. I also scooped up a Us Army property 1918 Gillette & can’t believe how well it shaves. Thanks for the vid’s
I have the 6C and the Model T version 1. They're both great razors, but I like the T1 better because of its looks and the more settings that are inherent with an adjustable.
Hey there man, great video. I have a 6C and use it almost every day. I would ask that you do a parker variant video, unless you have already done one and i missed it. Have a great week my friend!! Keep on making these great videos.
If you ever find it, I recommend rastihlo by westman shaves. The scent is incredible. I am thankful to have a local store with about 1000 different soaps to sample, and it is 100% my favorite one so far.
Hey which one do you like better the regular T2 or the stainless T2? I have the stainless T2 which is very smooth. I also have the original Model T in gunmetal which I feel the blade a little more on each setting.
Winner for me is easily the 6S. I normally use it on plate 4, sometimes on plate 5. My T1 never goes above 2.5, it's just vicious. I've contemplated moving it on, several times, but when it doesn't bite, it does give a very close shave. 6S for the win though, 97.52% of the time.
Hey buddy, have you tried any Caties bubbles shave soaps yet? Incredible local maker by me. Just recently had one of the best shaves of my life with it. Cheers!
Need some advice from you. I have been a cartridge user forever. Just switched to the Twig and it's fine. But I am looking for a razor with a bit more adjustability. I don't have coarse hair and don't head shave. The Rockwell T2 and the Rex Konsul both look interesting. Do you think they are too much for a basic newbie to DE shaving? Thanks
