- European Union leaders were unable to agree on a €50 billion ($54 billion) aid package for Ukraine after Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban blocked it, sending the debate into early next year as the bloc struggles to counter concerns that Western support is faltering. In addition there is a number of anticorruption services in Ukraine, like NABU, NAZK, and others that already proved their effectiveness. Level of corruption in Ukraine is not much different from the rest of Eastern EU countries.

It's interesting to listen to Simon Zoltan's spin after listening to Orban's press conference, specifically to Zoltan's multi-layered question(s) (about 25 minutes into the press conference) to which Orban answered clearly, concisely and logically. The primary objection from Hungary is EU "bundling" monies instead of voting on money and issues separately (independently). It's the exact same issue in the US. Simon Zoltan heard this and therefore knows this, but promotes the illusory truth of "blocking and blackmailing"; there is great shame on you Zoltan.

The Fidesz government has since passed antimigrant and anti-LGBT+ policies, as well as laws that hamper the operations of opposition groups, journalists, universities, and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) that are critical of the ruling party or whose perspectives Fidesz otherwise finds unfavorable.
