Love this! Great info & killer playing here, Matt & Rabea. Thank you & Andertons Music Store so much! Hope to see you in The UK in 2016...We'll have to kick it & talk tones!
Oh my god man! I would be truly honoured to meet you and talk tones hahah. I'm a huge fan - both Matt and I love your playing and your tones. I can't believe you watched/liked/shared this man! Amazing
Hi +Philip Sayce Please do come and see us next time you are in the UK, we would absolutly love to get you on our channel chatting tones and gear. Thanks for the love.....
This just came up in my feed because I've been listening to Philip lately and marveling at his tone. I gotta say, you guys were in no danger of sounding any thing like him.
+Rabea Massaad Thanks so much for doing this vid like you guys used to, walking round the shop and getting the stuff as you go! I know you and Matt would probs rather just be discussing the gear over a pint tho ;)
Phillip Sayce is soooo underrated. His vibrato is legendary and his voice is just as good. Total Package! So hard to figure why hes so unknown. Thanks for doing this and bringing some light to such a great musician. Thanks Bea and Matt! Great Stuff!
Phillip Sayce. I'll never forget the first time I heard peace machine. Amazing young blues guitarists. Roy Buchanan was an amazing blues player too. When you get a chance try a Roy Buchanan vid.
YAAAASSSS YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!!! YOU ARE TRULY LISTENING TO THE COMMENTS!! YOU BROUGHT BACK THE WALK THROUGH THE SHOP!! MUCH LOVE MUCH AWESOMENESS!!! KEEP UP THIS WICKED WORK!! Best regards from Denmark!!
I agree with everyone here, great job. A few years back I was getting a little tired of the SRV style, then I came across Philip’s music......instant inspiration.
I've been Matt I've been Rebea and I've been impressed! Tones like that from a squire are incredible. Bea 's hands have entered an elite level. Absolute monster. No stopping him. Ha!
What a great video, I hadn't really heard of Philip Sayce until I saw this and was inspired to check out his first album and blown away by what I heard so instantly ordered! Can't wait to check out his other albums, and I can't stop playing the riff to Save Me From Myself that Rabea played!
I love this series of videos. Just sayin. It is super fun to watch as i'm quite certain it's super fun to make. Keep up the great work guy. I'm loving it!
Thanks for the great info and fun vid. Been listening to Philip Sayce lately, the guy is an absolute monster on the fretboard, fearless and robust, I’d love to get close to that sound.
One important think you overlook IMHO is how much of his sound is due to a cranked fender amp playing into NON DISTORTING speakers.. Throw in a Delta Pro 12A or WGS 12L (all EVM 12L clones, a JBL clone would be awesome but there arent any good clones and the original ones are expensive) and that Hot Rod amp will sound sooo much closer to his sound. Then you'l get that 3D broken up yet clean tone that is nonpresent in your video. Cheers.
7:22 Wow, what a friggin tone. Cheers to my fellow tone chasers. Way to get a sweet tone without having to spend thousands on an old Echo-plex. Love Way Huge's stuff.
Really enjoying these vids, especially the Rabea/ Matt dynamic. I'd love to see some Modern Rock guitarist "sounds like" such as franz ferdinand or the wombats.
I don't know who Philip Sayce is, but this has been the best video yet, it has made me want to find and listen to him. Also makes me want to play my guitar!!
I've never been a fuzz fan but man with a strat it's sounds lush! Rabea you smashed it here mate. I've never heard of Phil before but thanks to you and Matty I found a great player. Cheers!
Would be great if you guys did a "Sound like Philip Sayce - BY busting the bank" And by the way, great vid. And how cool is it that Philip Sayce himself actually commented the video
Wow interesting. I had only just heard of Phillip Sayce but watching Rabea’s right hand when playing the fast stuff, was an unexpected free lesson to me here.....like a humming bird over the strings.
Great video again guys, the Fender is a great amp in looks and sounds. Please, please, please keep incorporating outtakes, they finish each vid off very nicely. Thanks
These guys play for the love and passion of the music . Thanks for the inspiration - it ain't easy when your trying to pay rent and have to reuse strings cuz your funds are low . Got the company downsize blues . And of course thank you Maestro Sayce !!!
The Fender stuff is so expensive in the UK. Here in the US you could have gotten an American Strat and a Deluxe Reverb for the same price as you paid for the Squier and Hot Rod.
I guess it'll be harder than you think, exactly because of the guitars. He uses mostly some dodgy old guitar and turns up his amp into explosion. He is one of the loudest guitar players I know. Also his tone has changed quite a bit from the early white stripes into his last solo album.
Zach Martin Why wouldn't they do Matt Bellamy? You forgot the million billion Dollar Midi rig btw...:) I think that's very interesting about Matt, that he uses all those effects. I would maybe suggest an RG Kaoss like thing
+Random Model Making Channel He uses different things on different albums, so for instance Drones uses the Digitech Whammy A LOT, but the first couple of albums didn't really use the Kaoss pad very much, that's more BHaR onwards. I would add a Phase 90 to my list though, he's used that a hell of a lot since OOS
With all the pedals active you've got a real Funkadelic (specifically Eddie Hazel) tone. It reminds me a lot of some of the grimy sections of Maggot Brain in particular.
this show is absolutely brililant! however, would you guys please consider making an episode on how to get a rig set up for various kind of genres? or would that be too much lol thanks anyways guys! new fan!
Won a skype lesson with Philip once, great dude, but I've never felt more shit on guitar than that hour. Dude was born to play. You guys may have just convinced me to buy a fender amp, too.
those pedals take a lot of tinkering to get the sweet spots, its not the pedals its more the user, you have to eally dial in your basic clean sound first and then layer over top what you need subtley, also if you dont have a buffer those effects will sound tiny and over compressed, YOU NEED A BUFFER to reintorduce your guitars original tone and that rig will become insanely good. not trying to say you cant do it other ways this is just stuff ive learned using these exact types of effects and running into these issues on my own. Every boss pedal as far as i know has a buffer so ifyou have one or two of those in your chain at the right spots you could have that buffer effect a bit easier, JHS pedals does a great video on this on here.
Great video and awesome playing, thanks for introducing me to Mr Sayce, can you or anyone tell me the Hendrix chord thing at 7.26,is it "in the style of" or is it a Hendrix/Sayce song etc? Thanks
Amazing
+Philip Sayce Thanks for the feedback and good vibes, really appreciated!! :)
+Rabea Massaad Hahaha lucky you ;-) ! Well done the video by the way, you nailed that vibrato that is to so easy to get !
+Philip Sayce Hope to see you back in the UK soon Philip.
Hi +Philip Sayce Please do come and see us next time you are in the UK, we would absolutly love to get you on our channel chatting tones and gear. Thanks for the love.....
This just came up in my feed because I've been listening to Philip lately and marveling at his tone. I gotta say, you guys were in no danger of sounding any thing like him.
this was one of my favourite episodes to do. The archer and fuzz face together...... RIDICULOUS!!!
+Rabea Massaad Nice vid .......... thought one of you might even play the trombone :)
Great tone bea! But can you do Royal Blood? ;)
+Rabea Massaad Thanks so much for doing this vid like you guys used to, walking round the shop and getting the stuff as you go! I know you and Matt would probs rather just be discussing the gear over a pint tho ;)
FHRITP (it's all about the filming haha)
+Ben Bryan Too right haha :-)
I had never heard of mr Sayce so after this video i went and checked out his music. Holy. Shit...
Yesidoplaytheguitar that’s the reaction of most people.
Yes indeed!
Yesidoplaytheguitar he was Jeff Healey’s guitarist. Check Jeff out. Blind and awesome player. Sadly, he passed away.
Phillip Sayce is soooo underrated. His vibrato is legendary and his voice is just as good. Total Package! So hard to figure why hes so unknown. Thanks for doing this and bringing some light to such a great musician. Thanks Bea and Matt! Great Stuff!
Blues especially as heavy as what philip plays is just not appreciated by a large audience anymore unfortunately
Phillip Sayce. I'll never forget the first time I heard peace machine. Amazing young blues guitarists. Roy Buchanan was an amazing blues player too. When you get a chance try a Roy Buchanan vid.
Mojo Tele into a cranked tweed should to it for Roy 😜
you can never sound like philip sayce... dude is a tone monster...
Yeah man! Nice tones! Philip Sayce is not only a MONSTER guitar player but is also the nicest guy! He deserves all the love!
Gotta say, this has to be the most enthusiastic I've ever seen Bea in a Sounds Like video haha
+brian nielsen NO PROBLEM!!!
love it that you're actually showing "the process of choosing" again and don't go straight to the video room! ;) awesome video!
I agree with everyone here, great job. A few years back I was getting a little tired of the SRV style, then I came across Philip’s music......instant inspiration.
Time to revisit this by busting the bank, Rabea and Matt. Go on, you know you want to.
Sound like Prince. One of the all time guitarists, never mentioned with the greats...
Mike L. but mentioned by all the greats!
Prince is the absolute top for me. He could play all genre's. Genius
How about a special version of "sounds like" with having the artist come in and play and critique your budget selections.
Mate, you did not play the morning star riff! That was a huge miss. Love that song.
The only thing I have to say, is that we miss you guys!!! You guys should make a channel "Sounds Real" on M&R Sound Warehouse!
I've been Matt I've been Rebea and I've been impressed! Tones like that from a squire are incredible. Bea 's hands have entered an elite level. Absolute monster. No stopping him. Ha!
The classic vibes are insane quality for the price. It's what I suggested to my friends who wanted to start playing in college.
What a great video, I hadn't really heard of Philip Sayce until I saw this and was inspired to check out his first album and blown away by what I heard so instantly ordered! Can't wait to check out his other albums, and I can't stop playing the riff to Save Me From Myself that Rabea played!
At 8:00 you were absolutely killing it Bea! Totally had the Sayce style going!
Great playing dude.. I'll never get tired of Rabea's "Catcher's Mitt" hands..haha
Thank You Andertons for making me check out Philip Sayce, just listening to Peace Machine for the 1st time, wow this guy is INCREDIBLE!!!!
I love this series of videos. Just sayin. It is super fun to watch as i'm quite certain it's super fun to make. Keep up the great work guy. I'm loving it!
Thanks man!!
oh, god, i'v been listen Sayce first time half hour ago, but i'm him fan now.
Thanks bea for introducing phil to me ,just instantly loved his Style ,greetings from Austria
Then you'l get that 3D broken up yet clean tone that is nonpresent in your video. Cheers.
I'd say: A Fender strat, a fender tube amp with reverb (Hot Rod is ok), an EV 12L clone and a tube screamer ... the rest is icing on the cake.
Sayce's solo on his cover of the song "Better Days" is just incredible...Definitely check that one out!
I had never heard of philip until this video . I had to check him out. I am an instant fan, thanks for turning me on to a great player!
Yeah man! He's a monster!
I don't know who Philip Sayce is, but this has been the best video yet, it has made me want to find and listen to him. Also makes me want to play my guitar!!
This one was a beaut, new bluesman to listen to and a strong desire to buy a fuzz pedal, well played. Good to see the shopping bit back in!
The price of the guitar on the video is 340£ but if you click on the click to it it's listed 422£.It must have been on discount in 2016.
I somehow just discovered this Channel! Already a favorite. Great job guys.
I've never been a fuzz fan but man with a strat it's sounds lush! Rabea you smashed it here mate. I've never heard of Phil before but thanks to you and Matty I found a great player. Cheers!
Would be great if you guys did a "Sound like Philip Sayce - BY busting the bank"
And by the way, great vid. And how cool is it that Philip Sayce himself actually commented the video
Awesome video guys. I had never heard of Sayce before this. Thanks. One of my new favorites.
This is probably my favourite sounds like so far! I want this rig for myself haha
You just came up on my youtube feed, and you're doing Phillip Sayce! Subscribed instantly. Glad I found you guys.
Wow interesting. I had only just heard of Phillip Sayce but watching Rabea’s right hand when playing the fast stuff, was an unexpected free lesson to me here.....like a humming bird over the strings.
this is my favourite episode that combination is killer those squiers are unreal for the money...
Great video again guys, the Fender is a great amp in looks and sounds. Please, please, please keep incorporating outtakes, they finish each vid off very nicely.
Thanks
Finally shooting back at the store again! Keep it up
It’s impossible to sound like Philip Sayce unless you are Philip Sayce.
Somehow this episode passed me by until now. That was great.
A "sound like" Big Wreck would be so amazing!
At 9:17 things get real. Really real. Awesome job as always!
The Klon Archer sounds like a gritty treble booster. I just love how it sounds.
Two videos for that Classic Vibe and its still on the shelf? Its got some serious mojo. Great playing, too.
list of suggestions for future episodes:
van halen
steel panther
avenged sevenfold

Just a little FYI. "The Philip Sayce Group " released their first cd back in 1996 on Hypnotic Records. Great debut from this amazing musician.
nice to see you bothe back In the shop getting all slippery with the gear.
Yay, you're back in the store!
Fantastic video Rabea, well done !!!! Really enjoyed that. Cheers from Canada
These guys play for the love and passion of the music .
Thanks for the inspiration - it ain't easy when your trying to pay rent and have to reuse strings cuz your funds are low . Got the company downsize blues .
And of course thank you Maestro Sayce !!!
Love Sayce! Great player and very humble! You guys did an awesome job!
Thanks for the introduction to this guy. Had no idea who Philip Sayce was, until I paused you lot a couple mins in and googled him:-) Nice!
Great Job, I think the BOG JD FF is silicon rather Germanium as desrcibed - they are great
These are the best vids on the channel.
The Fender stuff is so expensive in the UK. Here in the US you could have gotten an American Strat and a Deluxe Reverb for the same price as you paid for the Squier and Hot Rod.
thanks so much for going round the store again!
Bea, what's the song you play at 7:24? Sounds great! And please do John Petrucci!
What is Rabea playing at 7:25? That's a beautiful noise.
WOW ... this is one of your best!
Not exactly "entry level" priced (;-))) but ... just great tones to be had from this rig!
Thanks a lot for sharing!
I love "Saycey" knowing he's actually watched it :'D
Holy crap, I knew Rabea really CAN play, but that solo around 9:20 just melted the shit out of my face…
Happy you've chosen Sayes. His sound is old stuff and unique at the same time.
Jack White, Matt Bellamy...
or ever Rammstein
+Random Model Making Channel re White, just grab a semi hollow and ensure it's not in tune.
I guess it'll be harder than you think, exactly because of the guitars. He uses mostly some dodgy old guitar and turns up his amp into explosion. He is one of the loudest guitar players I know. Also his tone has changed quite a bit from the early white stripes into his last solo album.
+Random Model Making Channel They won't do Matt Bellamy but: P90s>Zvex Fuzz Factory>Vox AC30
I'm surprised at how close you got with this one, the fuzz and the archer, god damn!
This is the best sounds like yet. Philip sayce is the best
With all the pedals active you've got a real Funkadelic (specifically Eddie Hazel) tone. It reminds me a lot of some of the grimy sections of Maggot Brain in particular.
That shrieky sound and the shredding, oh my god.
Love it 'Bea and Matt, keep up the great content.
You guys have the greatest jobs
I love this episode so much, but cant figure out what was the song at about 7:30?
My fav one so far. Philip Sayce is a beast
I'm still hoping for Sounds Like Thrice.. (I'll happily do a cameo for it too!)
yes!! that would be great!
+Justin Robson YES
this show is absolutely brililant! however, would you guys please consider making an episode on how to get a rig set up for various kind of genres? or would that be too much lol thanks anyways guys! new fan!
Won a skype lesson with Philip once, great dude, but I've never felt more shit on guitar than that hour. Dude was born to play.
You guys may have just convinced me to buy a fender amp, too.
Do Rory Gallagher
clean fender amp cranked with reverb all the way up and a tube screamer and a strat.
could you do more with both Dave and you playing ? he is a very solid player aaannd it must suck to sit there watching instead of participating ?
Please do a sounds like of Buck Dharma. He’s such a great guitarist, and Blue Öyster Cult is such a great band
At 8:00 is that the start of the Coronation Street Theme?
What is that song at 7:24? It's lovely!
Could You Guys Do Zakk Wylde
yesss
That would be amazing.
the fuzz that is used in this vid is the jimi hendrix BOG mini fuzz face not the germanium one as it said above.
Do a BY Busting the bank
here's one: RITCHIE BLACKMORE!!!!!!
soooooo many amazing, iconic riffs, such a monster player
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
those pedals take a lot of tinkering to get the sweet spots, its not the pedals its more the user, you have to eally dial in your basic clean sound first and then layer over top what you need subtley, also if you dont have a buffer those effects will sound tiny and over compressed, YOU NEED A BUFFER to reintorduce your guitars original tone and that rig will become insanely good. not trying to say you cant do it other ways this is just stuff ive learned using these exact types of effects and running into these issues on my own. you guys should do sound like beach house also i love these videos thanks for doing them!
That dude can play!!! Really enjoyed this. Strat tuned to Eb.. what guage string did you use?
What’s the tune at 7:25? Random noodling?
Great video and awesome playing, thanks for introducing me to Mr Sayce, can you or anyone tell me the Hendrix chord thing at 7.26,is it "in the style of" or is it a Hendrix/Sayce song etc? Thanks
Rabea i hardly recognise you from back then, well done on the weight loss.
