First time saw Phillip sayce was in a bar in the valley. Before his gig with Melissa ethridge. Jay singh on drums and Brian horn buckle on bass. He asked if he could play. He plugged into a peavy amp. He brought his strat and wah pedal. Nobody had heard of him then. It was a biker bar and people were playing pool. After he started playing the whole bar stopped and crowded around the stage. Who the fuck is this guy. This guy is the real deal. What a great musician. I have seen him many times and he is one of the best.
That Texas Ranger tone, to my ears, is so SRV-iconic. There is something special about fuzz>>megavibe. I can't wait for your standalone showcase of the megavibe during a Pedal Pawn Hub.
Only just discovered this channel - it's brilliant. Got me through a boring week at work listening to you geek out on all the amazing pedals - you're a fantastic player too.
I highly doubt he (or any of the pedal pawn folks) have a vol-treble bleed in his guitar. Why am I so certain? A Treble bleed circuit is BIG No-No for vintage Germanium/Silicon transistor style Fuzz Faces, Diaz Square Faces, Octavia’s, Germanium Treble boosters, late 60’s-70’s Thomas Organ inductor Wah’s etc.. Which’s EVERYTHING these guys are nuts for! The treble bleed works well for clean & lower gain sounds w/more modern equipment (Klon/Ts9-Two-Rock, Amplified-Nation, Tone-King etc) But its problematic with a Germanium FFace because of the all important interaction between the guitars vol knob and the fuzz input impedance, that and it’s painfully bright as you the vol down!! Don’t take my word for it though experiment! A Trb-Bleed circuit costs about 45 cents and takes 5minutes to install.. So Id try a few different cap/resistor values (I prefer smaller caps like 470-1200pf) with your gear and see if it’s your thing! 😉
Yeah they were off. Philip runs his amp pretty hot so I think he was really aiming for that vibe. If you listen to videos of Philip these tones are pretty damn close.
Hi mate, we went guitar into Fuzz Face & then you should be able to follow the chain from there with the purple wires for the most accurate order on this video. Is it tends to vary on how we order them for specific tones we are after on the day 🎛🎸
You’ve got to invest in a better recording setup. You have about 15k-20k worth of pedals in just this video. You could pay maybe $300USD to get a mic and interface to show off your talents. It’s difficult to listen to this. Please do this ASAP.
Thanks for the comment. We are using a Mac, Logic Pro X and Focusrite interface. We’ve gone for a crunchy sound on this to try and re-create some of Phillips live tones 🎸🎛
@@PedalPawn for some reason the end product that comes off in the UA-cam video sounds really bad. Most of us are on our iPhones browsing the internet. The other recordings on UA-cam and other sites sounds great, so I know it’s not my crappy phone. I’m not saying this to be a jerk. I just really like the way you play and am very interested in pedals. Please review this on your phones.
@@less_concerned1221 We appreciate the feedback honestly, might of gone a bit overboard on the distortion for this one. It does sound okay on my phone here but will probably differ from phone to phone so we need to look into this. Cheers for that 🎸🎛
@@less_concerned1221 yeah that's a lot of gain going into those 6V6's so a bit of overload Most of his other demos are better Sayce used 6L6's I believe so there's that too Bet is sounded nice in the room 😂
Thanks so much guys!

That’s so awesome mate
Man I’ve been really into Philip Sayce lately, so this is perfect timing!
Chain: guitar> fuzz face> vox wha> octavia> klon centaur> tube scramer> texas ranger> cesar diaz square> mega vibe> tremolo> amp?????
Insane, perfect, dirty, chaotic tones! Brilliant!!
Thanks a lot 🚀❤️

Thanks so much for the comment! Sounds like a great shout for a megavibe episode 🎸🎛
Also IMO just a good Super Reverb gets you you in the ballpark
@@paulcowart3174 yeah but the amp's gotta be cranked! It's nice to achieve legendary tones at bedroom volume levels with the Pedal Pawn pedals.
@@abelwritesmusic for sure accidental dislike will change

That’s the best news ever, thank you so much for the support
Great! Just like Philip! 💥💥👌🏻🎶🎶
Something wicked going on with the ts808 and mega vibe
Always so much bass in your signal !!! Sounds fantastic mate xx
Awesome video Chris! PS is the man! And that TS808 is now on my pedalboard!! So cool!!
Amazing Steve 🟩 thanks so much for the trade 🤗
Youre killing it right now Chris! I love your content man!
As you know.. I dropped my kr off board for the gypsy instantly…
Thanks so much! 🤯❤️
Well, that song "Over my head" (sounds like that, around 9:08) isn't with univibe... it's tremolo, echoplex and reverb combo...
Right on! Killer video. I need to find me some trades
Sounding awesome!
Thanks so much mate, really appreciate it
I love this video series!!
Thanks so much for letting us know, there is one more video like this next week 😍🎸
@@PedalPawnalso I would love to see the mods you have done on your deluxe reverb!!
Nice sound ! Great pedals
Very cool!!!
👍👍 awesome
New to the show, but now a fan.
Thanks so much for watching mate
Killer mate!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks so much mate, really appreciate it
Superb
Do you have a treble bleed in your strat?
What Speaker do you using with the Deluxe Reverb? Is the Amp stock or modified?
My Deluxe Reverb doesn't even close to that when is crancked up...

Oh and if I’m not mistaken he tends to use vintage EVM 12L’s
Ok signal chain and setting and sounds of each
65 or 68 reissue deluxe? I have your fuzz and Texan twang.
65 reissue. Thanks a lot for the support 🔥🎛
Aight so now I need to figure out how to replicate this on my ancient GT10…
SICK Chris. Question: What were the Deluxe's settings? Is the amp on 10 here?.....
Thanks a lot Kyle? I believe the settings were close to that 🤔😅
Question when you first started playin on this were all pedals off. Because that was already massively breaking up.
Yeah they were off. Philip runs his amp pretty hot so I think he was really aiming for that vibe. If you listen to videos of Philip these tones are pretty damn close.
What’s the order of the pedals? And is this how you normally put them in order or do you change the order for your taste?
Hi mate, we went guitar into Fuzz Face & then you should be able to follow the chain from there with the purple wires for the most accurate order on this video. Is it tends to vary on how we order them for specific tones we are after on the day 🎛🎸
Does anybody know if Philip stacks his texas ranger with his 808 or uses them separately?
With maybe
So is that the 65 re ish amp ?? Sounds great and by itself as well
That’s correct. Thanks a lot mate
Hola el Texas twang a cual réplica? , saludos!
Hi there, thank you for the question, please can you clarify your question? 🤠❤️
@PedalPawn ok Thanks for answering, my question is, what circuit in particular is the Texas twang inspired by? in one of Cesar Diaz?
I`ll take one of each, 🤪
👍
Sounds expensive
The problem with this is that its a 6 figure pedal board. I will never in 10 lifetimes be able to create this for myself.
There are a lot of modern alternatives to all of these that are significantly less expensive. We live in a golden era of guitar gear if you ask me.
Crybaby Thomas/Vox are the Same circuit board
Maybe some Italians had different inductors
