A couple of tips for anyone wanting to capitalize on this: 1. The vendors full stock usually respawns in under 10 minutes 2. I’m 99% sure each vendor’s stock is static. Some vendors carry up to 8 each (I haven’t seen more than that yet), meaning if you find 4 or 5 outlaw stations with vendors that carry 8 each, you can take note of them and cycle through every 10 minutes, giving you a TON of nanites 😮
I’ve noticed that by the time you’ve refined the hadal and larval cores, unpacked and sold the suspicious packets the vendor has restocked so you can rinse and repeat
For this method, you'll need to spend hours racking up the cash though. For the early game, there is a better method: Use navigational data to buy emergency maps at the cartographer. These lead to abandoned buildings. Around the abandoned buildings there will be eggs. Harvest the larval cores in these eggs one by one while shooting up the creatures defending them (you can use the roof of the abandoned building as a relatively safe position). 10 larval cores equal 500 nanites in the refiner, if I remember correctly. Plus, you'll get meat worth millions from shooting up all the swarms of creatures. I think I usually spend about 20 minutes until I have 15-20 larval cores and 1.2 million in cash. You can still spend that cash for the outlaw station trick described in this video. Probably more effective than grinding 2.5 million by other means for 400 nanites.
It may not be a very good return on investment, but making money is so easy it is good to find more ways to spend it. Thanks Jason, for showing this. You help many people making life between the stas easier.
One use I can think of for the target sweeper that I'd like to see implemented is using it to discover those last couple of minerals (or plants.) I would like to have all animals/minerals/plants discovered on my 'base planets', but no matter how long I spend, there's always one or two minerals I just can't find!!
I can’t find the last rare animal on about 7 different planets so I can extract the Nanites offered . I just gave up and came to the conclusion that they don’t exist and are teasers to keep you on the planet for an extended period of time .
Haven't played in years. Decided to replay it given the new update. Realize I had 1.5 billion units and I really wanted nanites hoping this works still. Can't wait to try it!
NMS on survival mode is grueling without max S tier upgrades on everything, sentinel drones are impossible to kill so far because they repair each other faster than I do damage. This helps a lot.
A random guy gave me 1.2 billion units worth of items when I was in the anomaly. I want to get rid of most of it. Turning it into nanites sounds like a good way.
Thanks again got my CO2 farm with planters up 43k storage on a c-grade but rt nxt to it I got a b-grade ammonia farm I'm building fukn loven this game just as I was getting bored of the lands between update yada yada I found this omega preview I'm hook even got my kids off Minecraft they build in creative mode in vr

"Advanced farming methods for those who don't know how to find an outlaw station." Yeah... because I'm really going to be able to follow along if I haven't played the game for 10 minutes and naturally found an outlaw station. Talk about clickbait.
I'm a new player, and I've noticed that farming sentinels for salvaged glass also gives you a bunch of (sentinel) modules, which sell for about the same price. Easier because you don't need cash.
I get burned out for sure, but honestly I tend to keep coming back. It is my "meditation" game. I will listen to podcasts / music and relax while I am exploring trying to find awesome planets or animals. Let's me zen out for a couple hours so I can clear my head.
45 million units and 63k nanines and Jason says nanites are more rare to find lol :) Like for 63k nanites you can learn the whole tech tree at the Anomaly(all of them), buy a full set of S-class modules for all your devices and still have half of those nanites left. While for 45 million units you can buy 1\3 of a multitool slot :)
@@dkay9013 I made a farm with the mold. Just create a base and wall them in. setup refiners and save it after mining them and restore your save. Nostop mold.
It is fairly fast but in today's NMS, making money or nanites is not difficult. However, I understand you are talking to newer players. My point on this is a bit different, especially when you are using what appears to be your 'main' and you are 'glitching' signal devices and echo locators, I would think you would be better serving the community by teaching someone to fly around and experience the game a bit more. For me personally, I like to build a small base every time I find a 'curious deposit' and during a four hour gaming session I can teleport back to it half a dozen times and load up. I expect more from a young man like yourself......

That being said, I was trying to point out that I thought Jason, who is a large advocate of the game, might have shied away from glitches and focused more on actual methods. as an older person, if you enjoy a game, the long ways tend to be more rewarding. curious deposits don’t work on survival mode, nothing wrong with this method also this method is flying around and experiencing the game; going to different pirate systems to find a route to run while the vendor inventory restocks is the same thing as flying around waiting for mould to restock

When I first capped units I thought it was a bug. That's when I realized capping nanites would be the real challenge.
That's a 4 bytes integer max value. I assume nanites are capped at the same number.

It is not that hard outside the first few hours... A tier upgrades are more than enough, especially with the plasma launcher

Playing in Permadeath was driving me crazy I had to go back to my normal save and enjoy the game with a piece of mind lol

But can only afford 1 ship or multitool class upgrade. It's context but I find farming runaway mold planets to be more efficient
