Pro tip: have a long range multitool setup seperate from your close range/scanner/general use multitool. I find close range options like the pulse splitter is the greatest all-around tool since every enemy you start a fight with will always try to close distance. If you do wanna have fun with blaze javelin then just swap to your other tool. Dont be like me and waste spots tryna get every weapon upgraded on the same multitool. Get scanner mods - you can make tons of easy money with the right setup just by scanning things. My current reward for scanning fauna is like 400k/scan
My favorite set up is the spitter upgraded with the igniter mod and I use it along with the paralyzing grenades which is deployed with the middle mouse button. The paralyzing grenades works well on groups of sentinals close together and also works great on the walkers. It works well on the abyssmal eyes under water as well. It's just my favorite set up.
Pro for the Neutron is its insane damage against monstrosities and other lifeforms. Did a 'kill monstrosities' mission today in the Nexus, and i was firing fully-charged shots faster than they could surface, killing all of them instantly. Fastest finish i've had on that type of mission.
I started using the neutron cannon on space hulks, since the AoE blast takes out a group of the little space critters. I also found the crazy damage it did to monstrosities. If you're engaging the beasties at an outpost, you can jump up onto the building and fire down into their spawn point. It'll wipe out the whole wave, rinse and repeat until they calm TF down, or you hit your mission target.
If you're in VR, scatter blaster is king. You can bypass the reload timer in VR by your physical actions, and timing trigger pulls correctly lets you shoot continuously just slightly slower than 'burst mode' without actually triggering burst mode, and thus slowing your fire rate, but there's no cooldown since you're just firing normally so you empty your magazine MUCH faster. Added together with a reload that's a fraction of a second thanks to your quick hands, and the scatter blaster is an _absolute_ *beast* in VR. But if you're in desktop, definitely pick boltcaster or pulse spitter. My current scatter blaster is nowhere near the max range for damage potential, and even with mods installed that make enemies _harder_ , I still utterly wipe the floor with them. Two enemy exomechs? Bring it, each one is dead within six seconds.
Boltcaster all the way. It has another "Pro" : sentinal upgrades only apply to boltcaster, so you gain 6 possible extra upgrades. Min maxed, it can fire upwards of 8-9 shots per burts with only 0.25 seconds between bursts and a reload speed faster than time between bursts. For the purposes of nanite farming from killing sentinels, it is better to use single target weapons like boltcaster or pulse spitter. You do not want to accidentslly kill the seninels that summon more sentinels. Difference between boltcaster and pulse spitter is that pulse spitter is continuos fire(not burst) but loses shot grouping after 4-5 shots and becomes terrible at mid-ling range with sustained fire. You must burst it at longer ranges, and even then, the bullet spread does not reset to minimum with each burst. Boltcaster always performs exactly the same with every pull of the trigger.
Yeah the boltcaster is a beast with max upgrades on it and can eliminate sentinels instantly. I’ve noticed it can struggle with certain enemies though like the walker or the exo mech, not to say its bad for them just that I think other weapons are better for the bigger enemies at least. Also Thanks for Watching!
@@Colmatt a properly min/maxed boltcaster melts everything, especially when paired with combat scope. I take out sentinel mechs in 4-5 seconds. Pretty sure the Sentinel Shard upgrades also give their benefits to the other weapons too, at least it does seem to increase the fire rate / dps and reload speed of the Scatter Blaster. That said they do seem to trigger the adacency bonus of the Boltcaster, so ideally place the shards near the boltcaster to take advantage of this, and I usually try to place the shards in the middle of the multitool so they touch all the other weapons in case it causes unisted adjacency bonuses.

It's almost ironic how big of a buff the boltcaster got in recent updates. I mean sure, it's very unassuming at first, but with the addition of supercharged slots, sentinel upgrades and the right configuration, it can push upwards of 25k-35k damage potential depending on the type of multi-tool you're using.
Another con to add to Pulse Splitter, if you upgrade the fire rate up too much, the recoil is almost uncontrollable and you waste half of the balls everytime you try to shoot something. And unlike Bolt Caster, it has no Recoil upgrade
One Huge downside of the Blaze Javelin you missed is against the 4 legged pupper sentinels it shoots the ground between their feet. It doesn't seem to matter where your crosshair aim is on them it always misses them when not shooting from well above or below. That said its still my favorite because for basic sentinels you can mostly point and pop them once charged, and when you get to the larger varieties the stun keeps you safe from them fighting back.
I hate when it happens. Bringing the Minotaur with fully upgraded cannon is like using the uno reverse card against these four-legged buggers. Their laser often just phases through you when you are in your battle mech.
There are more gun types than there are enemy types in the game. Its so weird that there's all these gun varieties but only sentinels and on rare occasion those monstrosity things. I just use pulse spitter on both.

I just put together a blaze javalin build last night, if you go to the anonoly, you can research an upgrade that stinks targets hit, there is also an upgrade to give a hug damage boost against stunned targets ;D It even stuns big ones like the sentinel walkers, I haven't tried many weapons yet, but I really like this one :D
@@paulkocherhans608 Thanks and will check that out when I get to Anomaly. Funny you mention sentinel walkers, I faced one at mission to a sentinel tower tonight. Luckily, I could just walk by, access their network, and shut it and the other sentinels down, and get 5 easy kills. Was not looking forward to the walker and glad I didn't attack. Fun chart mission!
I usually main scatter blaster and keep bolt caster as a ranged precision option. I got a multitool specifically for combat so I can switch between exploration and combat. Pulse splitter isn't as good as its hyped up to be, the slow projectile speed and spread make it bad for combat where you gotta be on the move.
Yeah the pulse spitter does have its downfalls for sure, the main reason i tend to use it over the other weapons is just because i like to swap up weapons every so often. It something new to me, but i think im gonna try using a maxed boltcaster soon.
Blaze javelin and blotcaster is my favorite. It take some skill but once you get good at it, it's unstoppable. Blaze javelin can deal damage and stun anything I've tried to including walkers. Then boltcaster does crazy dps if you have a lot of upgrades. The 2 cons of this combo however are that it's kinda hard to get used to recoil and aim with javelin and then it takes a lot of slots for ammo (carbon and projectile ammo) and a lot of multi tool slots for boltcaster upgrades. I would recommend having this in a spare multi tool because it leaves little room for anything else. After you get an extra multi tool and practice a bit, this combo is close to flawless.
Pairing the Blaze Jav with the combat scope helps with aiming. I like to use Pulse Spitter for the abandoned freighters and Scatter Blaster for Sentinal Combat.
if your playing a resource / crafting / explore game, your first multitool will be jammed with scanners andmining tools so best to get a good secondary to use as your BoomzStick
Thanks for the vid. About to start upgrading my mutlitool for combat on my VR save for the new Interceptor update (theres's gonna be a lot of fighting till I get my S class Interceptor probably xD ... 1 C class so far, haha)
I’ll probably do a revision on this video now that multitools are better and now that we can change combat difficulty. So I’ll make sure to include a bigger group of enemies. Thanks for Watching!
I use the Plasma Launcher exclusively. I've got over 14,000 hours in the game. I very, very, rarely kill myself. This thing takes out groups of sentinels and makes short work of them. When you are done with it, select your Personal Force-field to avoid inadvertent discharges. I learned that the hard way. Not for everybody.
Big tips right here, I fully recommend boltcaster with plasma launcher, if you get S and X class mods for plasma launcher and upgrade things like damage, explosion radius and bounce plasma launcher is DEADLY, now boltcaster mods are good but until a few weeks ago I recently found a royal multitool at a sentinel pillar, so I made my old multitool (it’s a Upgraded B class rifle multitool) and I use it for combat and royal for mining, scanning, now with my supercharged slots, this is where my boltcaster went beast mode, I put the best sentinel weapons mods, my boltcaster shoots in 12 round burst shots, it honestly takes out drones with ease plus in combination with plasma launcher makes my weapon absolutely devastating and in combat makes my combatants shiver in fear. I named my multitool “M4 Carbine” 😂😂
The blaze Javelin used to not work on factory doors like the mining laser, shots ignored by the armored door, so I never got into using one. Best use for the Neutron is on Freighters. The AOE blasts kill those batches of little critters fast & hits even when there's some blocking stuff in the way.
My current favorite is a combination of the plasma grenades with the blaze javelin. You can dump a lot of those plasma grenades and wipe out a whole squad of sentinels pretty quick. My current setup can take out a Minotaur with three shots of the plasma grenade. There's definitely room for improvement on my S-Class upgrades as well.
hey man! you should make a video on choosing a multi tool! i recently started nms and have some questions, like should i be running two multi tools, one that focuses on scanning and one for weapons? and which are the best to go for to minmax my damage/scanner.
Thanks for the video idea. I was planning on uploading later today and I’ll definitely be making more multitool guides so keep an eye out👀. Also Thanks for watching!
I would recommend having 3 multitools at a minimum. One for scanning, one for killing, and one trash one for jumping through blackholes with. Pistols tend to be better for scanning. Alien rifles tend to be best for damage. Alien look way different with crystals for barrels or magazines. If you focus on just one damage dealing ability, you will have enough room for scanner and terrain manipulator on an S class alien rifle.
@@exisfohdr3904 as far as I know, there are no difference between the multi-tool you start with and a fancy alien or exotic one. All multi-tool of the same class have same base damage. So regular, alien or exotic, it's only cosmetic. I have a regular white and pink S class pistol I randomly found, it's boosted at 9804 boltcaster dps, the highest I ever pushed a boltcaster.
@@pierrepellerin249 I am referencing the base stat ranges when refferencing which multi-tool is better for what purpose. The base values are assigned via a fixed range with RNG. Different types DO have different base ranges. It is possible to just get bad RNG(Random Number Generation), and sometimes the multi-tools come with or without pre-installed functions(boltcaster, scanner, ect). The numbers you see when first presented with the multi-tool are not a true representation for comparing, as a pistol with a boltcaster pre-installed is always going to appear to do more damage than an alien rifle with no boltcaster installed. The same goes for scanner range. Additionally, any mods you use vary drastically and can make one multi-tool out perform another that should be better. That comes doen to luck and how well you took advantage of adjacency bonuses.
@@exisfohdr3904 Maybe if you use the default weapon that come with the multi-tool they get better stats, that, I have never tested. I have 2 multi-tools (normal, experimental). 1 has scan, mining and boltcaster. The other has scan, scatterblaster and geology cannon(that thing maxed out is crazy!) Both scanners have 3 mods that give me +10,000% for scanning each fauna, minerals and plants and all 3 have + 50% range or so. I make around 87k for each mineral and each plant I scan and between 250k to 600k for each animal I scan (depend on type of animal). It get the same money on either tool.
I love using the neutron cannon as my main weapon with a blaze javelin to support. I use the javelin at any range to stun sentinel mechs and then fill it with neutron cannon shots that are buffed with the amplifier and i can take it down in seconds. It takes a literal tenth of a second to charge my neutron cannon and it has such absurd range despite supposedly being a shotgun. Theres almost nothing I can't kill with it.
when you are fighting waves of sentinels, you need to have a fast loading weapon like a boltcaster that shoot's fast, if you don't want to keep switching multitool's all the time, like mining, combat and scanning, use a Alien multitool, it has M-mining, H-damage, M-scanning, all in one multitool.
I've found that I really like the Pulse Spitter with sentinels. And, the Scatter Blaster for Larval Cores and derelict freighters. Personal choice only. All weapons have their use!
No I do not, at least not at the moment. I plan on making a video showing off how to install mods and make sure they work properly but I’m not sure if that’s what you mean.
People misuse the javeling really bad now.. It stuns for 5 seconds, 6 if you put the tech in a supercharged slot. What do i do? When i fight centinels I shoot the big walker boss without Even charging the weapon.. if you charge it is enough to destroy the armor in each leg and you have a lot of spare time to charge the weapon back and shoot again..., full 5 seconds of stun from a non charged shot is BIG, meanwhile i MELT it with the shotgun. Take note that you can have multiple targets stunned so i usually stun the boss, while shooting the small walker and the robodog. You have enough time to stun two without charing and fully charge the shot for the 3rd..
I can understand why people don't like the Blaze Javelin. You have to be VERY precise to hit something. On a small target, or a very mobile one, it can be a pain to hit them. I have the small corrupted sentinel spiders in mind. Even when I aim dead center, I seem to miss them. Big damage means nothing if you miss.
Bolt caster with all the upgrades is insane. You will murder things. But it needs to be upgraded. On my low Multi tool it does 17,000 damage. Again, it melts things and at long range with instant bullet hits. No waiting for the shots to get there.
as it stands as of "Liquidators", scatter plus stun grenade is the best. You hit hard AF AND the enemy's cant even do anything anymore.... and you get it for free as starter weapon upgrade for the multitool when starting in that expedition... also you will drown in ammo during your run.
Ig reason why everyone hates Blaze Javelin is because it’s not a good primary weapon. Though I found an OP combo with it. Don’t charge it,shoot it for stuns, then finish it with Geo or Plasma Canon. I killed Sentinal Walkers in 5 seconds with this combo.
I don't know if it's just a console thing but when I was using the blaze javelin it kinda just didn't hit. Probably because I wasn't charging it but also the lock on for the corrupt spider sentinels always hit the ground under it. Also I think using ammo is better than carbon because it only takes a little bit of ferrite dust to make and often it will last you a long time.
Blaze Javelin paired with Neutron Cannon seems to be the lethal combo? That Neutron Cannon absolutely deletes sentinels and Horrors that are bunched up- the first with 2-3 the second with just one fully charged shot from one with two decent S-class mods. I've not tried the Javelin, but it sounds as though its gonna be the one you switch two once you're fighting the walker, or maybe against a hostile player.
I only really need to use the multitool when exploring derelicts, as planet side the only real thing you fight are sentinels and fightning while inside your mintaur deals with them quite easily.
in my experience, early in the game ferrite dust is WAY more in demand than carbon is. All those metal platings, fixing technologies and so on. Besides, 230 condensed carbon is enough for 500 shots. If you're economical each shot is super cheap.
Charge shots on the neutron cannon on controllers feel weird to me. Lightly holding the button is awkward as opposed to just holding it like you do in most other games.
Another con for scatter blaster is that it is ungodly loud. Or at least whith my speakers, liek I don’t use it cause I get in trouble for having my volume up. Like I have it at a volume around -25 dcb (don’t know what that means just volume units on my tv) and it’s still way to loud
Using carbon is not necessarily a plus. Maybe in the beginning of the game, but you can get projectile ammunition recipe easy. And they are very cheap to make.
My neutron cannon has upgrades so it charges instantly and the damage number usually reads 5k-14k. Idk how, the damage potential stat on my multitool is 130k
İs it possible to remove some weapons from my multi tool. Because i added hijacked laser but i feel like its one of the useless and weakest weapon and i would love to remove it from my multi tool.
What does everyone use against ships when they attack your base? They really should add two turret types. Anti aircraft and anti sentinel turrets are sorely needed now
I found the gunplay in NMS a bit frustrating. Is it only me, or do the enemies have very small hitboxes? There were many occassions, where I could swear, I must have hit the enemy, especially biological mobs, yet the shot was not registered properly. In the end, I have settled down to Pulse Spitter, despite its slow-moving projectiles. It is the only weapon that seems to have an "umph" to it.
Might be a tip, when you're explaining the weapon, shoot it (so to show how it looks/feels etc)

Luckily, I could just walk by, access their network, and shut it and the other sentinels down, and get 5 easy kills. Was not looking forward to the walker and glad I didn't attack. Fun chart mission!
NMS is fantastic in VR, looking around the cockpit and out the windows while flying is really helpful and amazingly immersive!
Thanks for this guide! Ive been going round and round about my MT loadout and you just made it so easy. Pulse Spitter+Neutron Cannon. 🤟
Great info, just subbed bc of it. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it, and Thank you so much for Subscribing!
I freakin love your logo 👌
Thank you! You’re actually the first person to say anything about it!
As of now I love my tricked out Neutron Cannon as my main, but I am intrigued by the Pulse Spitter and will try it.
Boltcaster with S class upgrades and Forbidden Sentinel upgrades can’t be beat for me! Best weapon and is OP, but I love that.
Anything s class slaps...
I've always loved the pulse splitter, it's just so satisfying seeing all those shots at such a high rof. Really feels like a "Space Gun" lol.
Especially when you have those maxed s class upgrades. It can really shred anything you go up against.
Same, and it matches with a green glowey bit on the multitool I used for combat
@@Colmatt Yah I've min maxed my pulse "splatter". Mows sentinels really REALLY well.
Feels like Doom's plasma rifle.
I use the scatter blaster allways for everything
Definitely one of the better weapons in the game for sure so I can see why. I normally swap between the pulse spitter and scatter blaster
Nice vid. Would be cool if you had a bit more heavy combat, to show how the weapon does with lots of enemies. Cheers
I’ll probably do a revision on this video now that multitools are better and now that we can change combat difficulty. So I’ll make sure to include a bigger group of enemies. Thanks for Watching!
@@Colmatt awesome mate👍
I use the Plasma Launcher exclusively. I've got over 14,000 hours in the game. I very, very, rarely kill myself. This thing takes out groups of sentinels and makes short work of them. When you are done with it, select your Personal Force-field to avoid inadvertent discharges. I learned that the hard way. Not for everybody.
Plasma Launcher was not included. Why not? Because it is a grenade which bounces and is annoying? Great video though.
Boltcaster is my go to. Insane fire rate burst, huge magazine, each shot does 900-1200 damage, crazy range.
Le 1er mec qui fait un test sur les armes sans tirer avec... Énorme.
Very helpful video, thank you
I'd love to see another weapon type that lobs slow moving mortar style projectiles that would do splash damage or damage over time.
Nowadays you can add an absurd amount of slots so you can basically install all of the weapons with maxed out modules.
My multitool has every single weapon on it. I figured that’s what everybody did as well as every upgrade and every sentinel and X upgrade
Bolt caster has the most boosts via weapon slots because it benefits from regular mods and sentinel weapon mods.
Scan the plant! Did you scan it? Send video proof you scanned it! 😭
Neutron cannon is great to deal with those small enemies on freighters.
I don't understand why sentinel upgrades doesn't work with other than boltcaster.
I've found that I really like the Pulse Spitter with sentinels. And, the Scatter Blaster for Larval Cores and derelict freighters.
Personal choice only. All weapons have their use!
Very True, I even just swap to different weapons from time to time to keep the combat fresh.
On my First game play through the name of my mutli-tool I found is
*Legacy of the sky*.
It was class A.
I don't want anything else.
Ok and do you got a video for how to load a plugin in to the software ?

Thank you so much! I was hoping to to hit 200 today!
@@Colmatt nice , stay positive and keep moving forward xD
Bolt caster with all the upgrades is insane. You will murder things. But it needs to be upgraded. On my low Multi tool it does 17,000 damage. Again, it melts things and at long range with instant bullet hits. No waiting for the shots to get there.
I like your accent dude! whereabouts are you from? 🙏
Thank you, I live in Tennessee.
@@Colmatt I live in the UK so, accents are very different over here ^^ 👍 have a good one!
as it stands as of "Liquidators", scatter plus stun grenade is the best. You hit hard AF AND the enemy's cant even do anything anymore.... and you get it for free as starter weapon upgrade for the multitool when starting in that expedition... also you will drown in ammo during your run.
I use 3 weapons, blaze javelin, pulse spitter, and scatter blaster, long, medium, and close range
Ig reason why everyone hates Blaze Javelin is because it’s not a good primary weapon. Though I found an OP combo with it. Don’t charge it,shoot it for stuns, then finish it with Geo or Plasma Canon. I killed Sentinal Walkers in 5 seconds with this combo.
very good video ty
I don't know if it's just a console thing but when I was using the blaze javelin it kinda just didn't hit. Probably because I wasn't charging it but also the lock on for the corrupt spider sentinels always hit the ground under it.
Also I think using ammo is better than carbon because it only takes a little bit of ferrite dust to make and often it will last you a long time.
absolutely fire vid my guy, really helped alot!!!!!!!!!!!! 🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑
I’m glad that I was able to help and Thanks so much for Watching!
I only always used Blaze Javelin and Boltcaster i love em theyre my style
You have 'room' for all the weapons, and all the upgrades for all the weapons. lol.
This is nice but with multi tool is the best?
Why is everything you own so fancy ahhh
I only really need to use the multitool when exploring derelicts, as planet side the only real thing you fight are sentinels and fightning while inside your mintaur deals with them quite easily.
in my experience, early in the game ferrite dust is WAY more in demand than carbon is. All those metal platings, fixing technologies and so on. Besides, 230 condensed carbon is enough for 500 shots. If you're economical each shot is super cheap.
I got boltcutter with 135% of fire rate. Shooting like serious minigun and the impact is serious high.
Charge shots on the neutron cannon on controllers feel weird to me. Lightly holding the button is awkward as opposed to just holding it like you do in most other games.
Last time I checked I only had to hold it normally, isn't it a problem in your controller?
@@abaddon130nope same issue as the blaze javelin
I fucking love scatter blaster and i only use scatter blaster on all of my saves lol
How do you change from bolt caster to scatter blaster?
Another con for scatter blaster is that it is ungodly loud. Or at least whith my speakers, liek I don’t use it cause I get in trouble for having my volume up. Like I have it at a volume around -25 dcb (don’t know what that means just volume units on my tv) and it’s still way to loud
Yeah it can be a little overwhelming, especially when the game will just randomly choose to increase volume.
Dude, how does your tv negate dcb...
@@seanowens3153 korvax technology, best in the whole galaxy
I use neutron cannon as main weapon and boltcaster as secondary
Chose wrong, have fun
#scatterblastergang
Pulse spitter plus the paralyze cannon was it? is for a lazy guy like me who like to dish out sentinels while being lazy with the aim LOL
Scatter blaster all the way
For sure one of the best weapons in the game right now!
I like the scatterblaster cause u don't really have to aim. I feel like grenades got seriously nerfed cause noone even talks about them anymore
Using carbon is not necessarily a plus. Maybe in the beginning of the game, but you can get projectile ammunition recipe easy. And they are very cheap to make.
Im just thinking about having one weapon on it instead of having to scroll throught 6 odd things
My neutron cannon has upgrades so it charges instantly and the damage number usually reads 5k-14k. Idk how, the damage potential stat on my multitool is 130k
Scatterblaster, I can clear 5 waves of sentinels without my shield dropping.
The accent 😍
Scatter blaster all the way for me
I love the scatter blaster i just wish it was a little bit quieter sometimes. That thing can just about blow out your eardrums.
The Blaze Javelin sucks because it's essentially a Neutron Cannon without the AOE damage.
Hey man how do I get ammunition ?
👍👍👍
whats the weapon in the thumbnail where can i get it
where to go to ge the softs im tNice tutorialnking of .
I’m sorry I don’t think I understand the question
