It’s only because they got caught
Just because GM stated they will no longer be providing data to the outside profilers, doesn't mean that they have actually stopped. There needs to be some way where you can go online and check exactly what your car is reporting?
They are only concerned with “Customer Trust” because they got pressure!
Talk about closing the barn doors long after the horses have gone to pasture....
No I will not use On Star, Chevrolet only stated that they are evaluating there Privacy Policies and they only stated that they will no longer sell to the two companies mentioned in the Lawsuit, they didn’t say that they would not sell or monetize On Star in other ways. They need to come clean and be totally transparent and notify customers of the new policies, not just a mention in an email is not official or binding. If we all want to see change keep the pressure on Chevrolet. Until Then Buyer Beware!

Mike, I have a few people that decided to NOT buy a Corvette due to this information selling. People are loosing faith in GM due to poor decisions on their part, all for profit. Sad times for sure.

I Never signed up for OnStar, so this doesn't change anything. They changed only because they got caught.
Even people who never signed up have been tracked and data sold.
GM still needs to be sued. I also switched my insurance on my C8 to NCM thanks to this channel. Annual premium, not 6-months, is now $675 🎉

Mike next thing the community needs to do is make Chevrolet put pressure on dealers. Still gouging customers regarding Z06 and Erays.🤔I’ve spoken and gave names to Chevrolet in Arizona regarding the continuing greed going on.
They will just have another company collect the data and buy/resale from that new company...they will still collect the information.

I don’t understand how they “redeemed” themselves. Yes they may stop sharing data, but the damage is done for a lot of people.
What about the poor people who got insurance hikes for using a “track car” on the track…..

Caught like a deer in the head lights. Mike my insurance keeps going down on the corvette. Bet my insurance company have been spying. Been driving responsibly, and my mileage on the corvette had been 2 x lower than estimated. Garage Queen lol. This is good news though
Great couple of videos calling it like it is. I helped my college daughters get vehicles. Obviously, onstar would be a great safety feature for my girls. I wonder now if their driving experience has become part of my profile since I'm the one that gets the monthly emails on the cars status.
They said who they wont sell to.They didnt say who they might sell your info to. GM now gm didnt come out and say " we will not sell your data to anyone" To me, your data could still be for sale.
I’d argue that there may be more to this story than we currently are aware of. Call me jaded, call me paranoid, but I truly don’t believe GMs rapid response and willingness to face the music comes out of the goodness of their hearts. My guess, apologize for the lesser crime to cover up a larger one…maybe 🤷♂️
Feel better but won't enroll and will install my Cell antenna dummy load on my OnStar module.
We’re all better being tracked with our phones anyway. There is no escape except to go Amish!
Maybe now they will re-think their plan to remove Apple CarPlay and Android Auto while they are caring about customer's feelings.

That’s good but they still need to be sure due to the fact that when people try to get insurance they possibly could still get rejected due to already documented driving habits from this.

All manufacturers do it. Why so much hate for The General. Those who say I will never buy GM again good for you, move on then. And I’m sure you will probably say the same again for what ever manufacturer you choose.

This is just another reason why you need to be careful when buying insurance. They will now just get you to authorize disclosure.mike send me a copy of your policy I’ll tell you what you are and are not getting for your money.
