    Finallyyy.... Someone talked about damn irritating and disturbing scenes of 'sarileru neekevaru'....I didn't understand how they framed a rape scene as a comedic one and no one questioned/objectified it. What Jammy said is true about ignorance of problematic sequences in star cinema.....in telugu film industry for sure.

    • @krishnatejareddy869
      @krishnatejareddy869 2 роки тому +177

      most often not, star hero and director movies tend to have these problematic scenes being passed off as comedy and romance. The train scene in Sarileru was beyond disturbing. The director of Sarileru also made this movie F2, which passed off blatant sexism as comedy. Puri Jagannadh is another director who tends to depict stalking/forcing /harassing a girl as some kind of fairy tale romance. Its mind blowing to see how this shit has been normalised over the years. Recent example is Allu Arjun's Ala Vaikunthapurramloo, where the guy preaches that 'If a girl says no, its no', but simply cannot get over his fetish for Pooja Hegde's legs and would not stop staring at them. It's high time stars are held responsible for the ideas they promote through their movies. Alas! many fans are too blinded to even understand how problematic this is.

      I absolutely hated this, the movie was actually pretty good! Great storyline, true stuff and actually really entertaining! But this girl side character was not needed even a bit. She just ruined my fun of watching such a good movie. She could do anything just to get married to that man even if it meant ruining him and his love life or freedom. Truly weird how it was approved.

      @@khushibagga4688 good things in that movie are so less. The only good things in that movie is Prakash Raj, fight eventhough over the top is kind of ok, and cinematography. The music is average, acting of the majority of actors are bad and mahesh babu was average in acting in this movie, the comedy, emotional and dramatic scenes are bad, direction and screenplay are bad. Just because it gives a good message doesn't make it a good movie. And this was promoted as mahesh babu's soldier film, but we barely got any of that.

      That's true but the thing is with actresses is that if they keep waiting for a good script, they are gonna lose on getting constant work. We have so many splendid actresses with immense talent they're finding it difficult to get work at times. It's a catch 22 situation, do you wait or do you work to sustain your career.. unlike our guys, there's not a lot for them to work around too. She might genuinely want to work in that way but there's no opportunity coming here way because our creators want to capitalise on what sells: objectification. The moment we as audience start sending a change but our money, nothing is going to change because the present system works for them.

This scene also perfectly showcases the problem of tollywood literally taking r*pe as a joke. Of course in some serious action movies they take it seriously but it seems to be the "trend" now. I'm honestly surprised at how the actors agreed to do such a controversial scene. A kiss is always included right before a dance and song number. And stalking or harassing a girl into liking you is just disgusting. Though the movies are slowly getting better one by one, this stereotype is still at large. A mutual dating scene is very rare and I recently watched the movie "Thimmarusu" which honestly gave me a lot of hope for the romance segment of movies. Thought it has plot holes I honestly appreciate the writers and directors for being brave and breaking this cycle. One reason 7G Rainbow colony is considered way different from Remo is that almost till the end of movie, the hero is not showcased or celebrated for his stalking but ridiculed, slapped, insulted in public, including the heroine. He is portrayed as a wastrel not good for anything and not respected by anyone.
    The part where they finally get together is cringeworthy even then and even today, but was ended in a anticlimatic way and rushed at end. The rawness of the movie and the reality at many places made 7G movie legendary as compared with Remo which was out and out cringe and creepy (only the songs was its saving grace).

I honestly didn't get the hype of that movie, cuz it was full of forceful violence, love and messed up relationship, but still with a happy ending. I seriously never watched that movie in a single sitting, cuz I didn't want to watch it. I was surprised how they normalised that kind of behaviour in a movie and how it became a big sensational hit. They actually included real life rowdies and gangsters in that movie. Maybe that's what attracted people to watch it and know how they behaved I guess?

    In 7G, the heroine looks at the hero with disgust. The audience look at him with disgust. Even his parents look at him with disgust. In no way is he glorified. There are multiple instances where the hero is being seen as a lowly, cheap person. However, Anita finds redeeming qualitities in him and helps him discover his better side. He transforms into a new man because of her. There is drastic change between how the protagonist is at the beginning of the film and at the end.
    However, that is not the case with Remo. Even in the very ending of the film, the protagonist thinks its a good idea to dress up as an old man and do the same old trick. He hasn't changed one bit. Thereby saying to the audience that his behavior is normal and okay, which 7G does not do. 7G points out the flaws in one's character. It doesn't shy away from the dirty mindset young men undergo in their early 20s and late teens. It doesnt shy away from the fact that men that age can be fascinated by a woman's physical appearance, however it also points out the difference between lust and love. The way i see it, the hero initially lusts for the heroine, but towards the end he finds love.

    • @YOUEC15
      @YOUEC15 2 роки тому +77

      Well said. Thats the essence of 7G. Hero is portrayed as flawed character & punished for his indecent actions (like followup scene after trying to gift the chain in bus), only after hero realises his mistake, mends his ways & improve his life, does the girl really fall in love with him. So there is no comparison between 7G & Remo !!

    Hi Jammy.. I am from Tamilnadu. '7G Rainbow Colony' movie never glorifies the act of stalking actually. The lead role is a flawed , hormonal , abusive idiot who is degraded and hated by the heroine for the most of the movie , only to love after falling a victim of his obsession. The end justifies his obsession of her , talking to her dead girlfriend. But , 'Remo' does the stalking and manipulating with a glorious background score and gets away with it , just because his love is true( at this point I have no idea what true love is anymore) . The distinction arises for the female leads too , considering the 'loosu ponnu' ( innocent and easily manipulated girl - completely nuts) role played by Keerthi in Remo and the serious , analytical role played by Sonia in '7G..'. .

    Glad that you brought up 7G. The sad part is even some girls fancy to have guy running behind them like how the guy from 7G does. I am not sure about other states but I have seen several incidents where girls have been stabbed just because they say no to a guy. These films basically generalize or approve that it's absolutely fine to stalk or physically abuse a girl.

      Random but just few weeks ago a Girl in Assam was hit on her head with a slicing tool by a guy in the middle of the road She rejected him and he always kept stalking and bothering her. After a week in ICU the girl was declared dead. It was a brutal murder. People are enraged and are demanding justice for her. They are demanding for his death sentence.
      By this alone, we can see the situation of our country. How some youth are getting inspired by those films. How Indian judiciary is so damn week that people have to protest to get a literal murderer punished.
      And I can never fathom fancying a guy/girl stalking/ running behind me. It has to be the scariest thing ever, considering how cruel some people can get.

    Thank you so much for telling Remo is so problematic, when my friends say it's good and a classic. I can do nothing but cringe at it!

      Classic ?? Aside from the fact that it was released just few days after the murder of a girl at Chennai local train station by her stalker which just reinforced the problem with the movie concept (not even including the girl bashing dialogues), it was so creepy and the heroine being so oblivious of the stalker around her throughout the movie.
      The only positive thing of the movie is the music - taken separately without putting the movie in context.

      The 2 things which turned out in that movie is cinematography and music. The rest are all shit.

    That Masterji movie is a remake of Tamil film called "mundanai mudichi - 1983" it was a hit that time... I always hated that movie... 😒 but till today that movie is applauded for its background score and songs by Ilayaraja... especially the scene you discussed here, that accusing scene... bgm will be lit in that scene 👌👌
