If you turn the rod to be effectively longer, that will help push the master cylinder piston further, which will cause the clutch engagement point to get higher on the pedal movement. Converse is of course true. Normal threads, so if you insert your wrench from the right side of the installed pedal, you will push DOWN to both loosen the jam nut and to lengthen the rod. However if doing this installed, the rod has no nut to grab, so use small channel locks on the rod. This not being a "Professional Answer" is free!!
