    I hope you guys are doing awesome. You guys were the first Japan channel I started watching. It sparked me to really try to move to Japan, even though I am nervous about a few things, like healthcare, and not being thin enough ect. I have learned a ton of Japanese. I love how real you guys are.

    Thank you for a great video! It's so nice to see you go around your everyday tasks with a smile. So many people forget about that, and I honestly think it's one of the most important things in life - being able to smile sincerely in a daily life. On a side note - you definitely don't wake up too early, I would have woken up at 6, or even earlier than that. I really do need way too much time to get ready in the morning. Most of it is not being able to leave the warm and comfy house for the dangers of the cold, harsh world outside:)

    I've watched you guys for a few years now and I love that you guys act like best friends more then those lovey dovey cutesie couples running around all over social media. And sometimes I do forget that you two are a couple, but to see you guys kiss eachother goodbye in the morning is nice. Keep these "day in the life" videos coming..they are great.

I realize how cool and interesting it is to just watch a closer look on what you do on your day to day lives. This was like watching a Soap Opera a sitcom an episode in a real live video game. Hey Kyde and Eric, so excited that you guys are going to the Philippines. You will definitely enjoy it, especially during the holidays. Don't wanna frighten you but there's been a lot of in the news of airport workers putting bullets in travelers luggage. Travelers have been wrapping their luggage in plastic wrap. Average calorie intake from stomach empty to full is about 1000kcal to 1200kcal depending on the person. I try to divide my intake into 500 to 600kcal breakfast. 1200kcal lunch/dinner. 500 to 600kcal supper. Total 2400kcal. If I’m short of calories in any day or too many, I regulate it by eating more or less for overall average amount to maintain body weight. Thanks for your videos.

    So, let me sum up.
    *Spoilers* :P
    Kyde: Wakes up at 7:00 (sh*t!), does exercises (whyy!!!), washes dishes (well somebody gotta do 'em I guess), goes to work (bravo, on time) where she stays all day being productive, and that's it...? Oh yeah, she goes full Black Ops III on smexing cats to relax before bed time from a stressful day's work. - you don't mess with Kyde, she means business!
    Eric: Is a classic anime style protag, with his "toast in the mouth, being late for school" trope, takes sidequests which may or may not involve saving the world, eats pinku bento lunches on the roof with his friends (second floor of the restaurant this time because of the rain), goes around town stealing electricity (#thuglife), school again before going to the arcade where his 2D waifu Miku-chan is waiting for him, comes back home at 10 pm and plays some Super Mario Maker... - One gotta love being Eric!! (every guy's dream life!)
    On a side note, I'd be interested to see a video or two with you playing video games sometimes.

    Nice video, sorry for commenting 3 1/2 years late! Kyde, in case you are still training to do pull-ups, you won't get much better by doing push-ups. It's not that push-ups are a bad exercise, it's just that push-ups mostly recruit the muscles of the chest, the front deltoids (=shoulder muscles) and the triceps (as well as the anterior chain for stability). Pull-ups, however, recruit the major and minor muscles of the back (latissimus dorsi, "lats", and traps), the biceps, and the posterior chain (abs etc.) for stability. So they're exercises that use completely opposing muscle groups!
    My tip is, if you want to get better at pull-ups, do pull-ups, but with a twist. Jump up to get your head above the bar, then only do the negative portion (i.e. slowly let yourself down from the bar until your arms are fully extended, while resisting with your muscles). This negative portion of the movement is where you really build strength. Eventually, you'll have to jump up less and less and can do more and more reps. I'd always jump up slightly on pull-ups though, no matter how many you can do, cause at the bottom of a pull-up with fully extended arms, your biceps are in a vulnerable position if you pull from there.

    I think you could steam your sweet potatoes partially first (which would be faster than your dry pot method), then finish them in your stove's fish broiler, to give them the roasted flavor you are looking for. I think that's how that fish broiler is supposed to be used, just to give it a little crisping and browning after being steamed. Or if you want to still use your dry pot method, you need to get a heavy cast iron dutch oven type pot, which will act like stove top oven (which is where the name came from), because the heavy material of the pot walls will absorb the heat and radiate it back into the food within the pot. Do they have small toaster ovens in Japan?

    So from what I've read and learned. people say it takes usually about a year to become fluent in Japanese if you study regularly. Would you agree? I know Eric still takes a lot of classes, how fluent would you say you both are? As a student about to study in Nagoya I am very interested in your experiences with learning the language!

    • @kydeanderic
      @kydeanderic  8 років тому +1

      +Ricky Martin Haha, hard question to answer. Defining "fluent" is tough, but by a loose definition I'd use I'd say actual fluency in a year is impossible. You will make progress of course, but you are learning what is seriously one of the most (THE most?!!) difficult languages in the world for a native English speaker. From my observation people who move here with very little Japanese ability don't become conversationally comfortable in less than 3 years or so, even with a regular study regiment. Of course people with previous language learning experience or access to a 100% Japanese language environment will learn faster, but the *average* time to get to comfortably conversational (not "fluent") is about 3 or so years. It sounds insane right? Check out the US State Department's estimation. en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Wikibooks:Language_Learning_Difficulty_for_English_Speakers
      By the way, I don't say this to discourage you. I say this so you have reasonable expectations of your progress. But who knows, you may blow the roof off the house and learn super fast, I have met people who have. Just not many. Good luck! -Eric
