I don't know what is is about your videos but they always make me feel more like I'm hanging out with friends rather than watching a video. It's one of the many reasons why your channel is my favorite of all my subscriptions. I don't know how you are achieving this vibe but keep up the good work it's the most unique amazing things in all my UA-cam experiences, its awesome. Thanks for the videos please continue on your amazing adventures. Ganbare!
masterplantplc123 I don't know how we achieve it either, but it's magical! Glad you dig our stuff! -Kyde
masterplantplc123 Wow! Thanks so much! -Eric
Crystalline Hi, it's actually Kyde who is proofreading. Her job is awesome, but to be blatantly honest she is absurdly lucky to have found it. It's not a typical position for people to have here as 99% of jobs are English teaching jobs. She got the position through friends, basically. I wouldn't even know where to begin explaining how to get another job similar to it, if I could figure it out I'd do it myself! -Eric
I agree. They are very likable people. Instead of some drama, or the fake feeling that one gets with network travel shows, you get a down to earth interpretation, and explanation, without all the fuss. Plus they are an adorable couple. I found her playful threats to Eric for him scaring her priceless.
byurBUDdy Hope I can provide some more priceless stuff with out having the crap scared out of me! -Kyde
I love that you guys describe things as, "friend of ____"! Totally understandable!
Kyde and Eric always make my day better when I'm having a bad day I just sit and watch a bunch of their videos and they always makes me feel so much better. I've been watching since they did their living in Japan videos, and I can honestly say that they've been the only people that have ever inspired me to want to do something. they are the people who gave me the courage to go for my dream to teach English in Japan. Thank you both for making these videos; my prayers are with you to keep traveling and stay safe. ♡ -angie
***** Oh wow, what a delightful message to read. Thanks so much for thinking such kind things and enjoying our videos. Never thought we'd be an inspiration of any kind, that's very flattering to hear. I hope you make it to Japan, it's a great adventure! -Eric
Kyde and Eric
You are both definitely an inspiration! :)
***** Awww, Angie! You are so sweet! We couldn't be more happy to hear these words and know that you're making moves! -Kyde
I can seriously watch all your videos without getting bored.
Enjoyed your long vlog. It made me feel like I was there with you! The shredded radish thing you had was a papaya salad! The fruit is picked before it ripens, gets shredded and you pour or dip it in fish sauce.
Wendi Phan so yummy!
Great vid. Looks like y'all had a great time together. Hope the next one comes out soon. I always look forward to watching.
10:02. That's called "Cha bong" dried & shredded pork. The square cornbread like is Vietnamese "banh bong lan". Similar to a cake like. Each region has a different way of making these. You guys are awesome! Very gutsy!
Hey guys! Ive been checking in daily for vietnam part 3, cant wait to see whats next! you guys are basically becoming a routine watch for me, lol. Thanks for all you do! (:
Chase Walston Sorry for the delay, Vietnam part 3 is still a bit out. But a long video about Hokkaido is going to be up soon! -Eric
Just wanted to let you guys know that I really love traveling vicariously through your videos! Woohoo! Been looking forward to this!!
you guys have no idea how excited it made me to see a new video uploaded!!! :-)
mpedrak Hooray! -kyde
You know what I like about your videos? It's that you guys are always smiling and casually enjoying all the little things you come across. You guys are constantly having fun and happily laughing all the time. I sorta envy the fact that that you guys found a certain someone to share/accompany life and it's adventure with, who can make you smile and have a good time no matter how bland or mundane the moment may appear. After all, isn't that a big part of what life is about? - enjoying the little things.
ps. I love you guys
chard267
At 9:06 those little things are considered cakes & called Banh Bong Lan. They are made of eggs, wheat flour and some other ingredients . They were baked in an oven for about an hour. A Vietnamese birthday cake has the same ingredients as those little guys & is cooked the same way. The difference is B-day cake is a lot bigger and has cream and decoration all around . The fruit on top is either dried ripped jackfruit or mango...similar to raisin dried grape we have here in the U.S. The thing in the bag is pork jerky. If you don't like pork jerky, those little guys taste perfectly fine without the jerky.
YAAAYYYY!! I love when you guys post videos.
TabbyAngel2 YAY! -Kyde
Watching my way through your Vietnam series and really loving it!
Glad you are digging, it was a favorite of ours!
The stuff you eat is Banh khot, great breakfast. The orange dry sprinkle is dry powder shrimp. It water out pancake mix, shrimp and coconut milk. The veggie you are asking might be green mango.
Wow.... I love to watch all of that food and fresh veggies!!!! Thanks guys!
you guys have the best attitude for traveling. much appreciated for respecting and understanding our food and culture.
+Vivian Pham Thanks so much for enjoying! We loved Vietnam! -Eric
Haven't even watched it yet, just wanted you guys to know how grateful I am for these videos!!!! Thanks again :)
meyer saari Thanks! You're very welcome! -Eric
meyer saari We are super glad you like them! -Kyde
I love the way you guys just throw yourselves into things. I wish I had been just a little more brave when I was in Vietnam.
Eric Wong I usually think to myself that I've only got one chance to experience this, so I should make it the best I can! I don't want to miss out on something! -Kyde
Eric Wong Haha, we try to get into crazy stuff, but sometimes I feel like we could be even more brave sometimes! -Eric
Yeah kyde and eric are both totally fearless , they seem like their ready for anything.
I always plan my lunches to eat while watching any of your new videos since y'all are usually eating delicious food!
Mike Adams Good call! I am eating chicken soup right now, you should have that for lunch tomorrow! -Kyde
Another great video. Thanks guys!! ❤️ 👍
Thao Ngo You are welcome! -Kyde
I love your videos. My husband and I have been living overseas too. In Italy for now:) This video looks great, the camera is so clear. Wish I had the guts to put up some videos too. Very inspired to keep traveling like you!
Love watching your feel good infectious humour vlogs, the spoons on the oreos cracked me up.
Haha, I forgot about that! Hahaa. -E
You guys have the best videos!!!
hchinvan Thanks! -Kyde
I love watching your videos! Thanks for taking us along on all of your adventures! I guessed Joker or Jack for the first flip card and 8 on the second flip car. :)
the "donut" balls you guys ate are filled with yellow bean paste'ish , alot of Nam desserts have yellow , green & red beans pounded down to a thick paste and sugar added to it to sweeten it to be used in many of Nam sweets ....YUM again...
07.10 (Kyde&Eric biting into some sweet corn bread)
Kyde: yeah its got butter on it.
Eric: Did u pay for that?
Kyde: Yeah
Eric: Its good
( alternative scenario)
Kyde: yeah its got butter on it.
Eric: Did you pay for that?
Kyde: No
Eric: Its shit.
I'm really enjoying these videos...
Dan Ton Yay! Thanks! -Eric
First Kyde, I have to say your haircut is really cute on you.
I love this video, you had me cracking up a few times. With the statues in the park, and Kyde's comment about taking Eric's oxygen away, had me dying!!! LOL The ice cream eating too!! I really enjoy your adventures. Love to watch you eating different foods. I would not be that brave.
I've recently come across your videos and I absolutely love them! The extent of my exotic adventures have only taken me to Cuba and Serbia so far, other than that it's just Canada for me. Asia is so full of culture and cool things to see and I love exploring this through your videos before I hopefully one day travel there as well! I can't wait for new uploads :)
thestateofdreaming12 I'd love to see Cuba and Serbia! We can swap adventures! -Kyde
thestateofdreaming12 Oh wow, Cuba and Serbia! That's pretty exotic and awesome. I'm jealous! -Eric
Thanks for making these great videos!!! U r awesome even me as a native Vietnamese I've never tried that much street food haha. I knew your channel through your series about 12 days in Taiwan and it's really relieved watching ur videos (I mean, after a busy and stressful day).
I just want to explain a bit about some strange food here. The "mango" or "pumpkin" muffin is called "banh bong lan trung muoi", which means pickled egg muffin (I dunno how to translate exactly). So the mango-y thing is the yolk of a pickled egg.
The alien baby is "banh bot loc" and it's chewy coz it's made of tapioca flour.
U two are soooo inspirational!!! I've decided to visit those places this summer when I get back home :). Thanks millions time!!!!!
Ngoc Chu You are totally welcome! Thanks for all the info and have a great time when you go back! I'm jealous! I want to go back! -Kyde
just watched mark wines' video about bot chien! i love rice cakes...this video was fantastic..cant wait for part 3!! thanks Kyde and Eric :)
Alexandra Ptak Glad you liked it! -Eric
At 43:44 you summarize some of my and my circle of friends' philosophy on food. If you two ever make it to Montréal and I'm around, I'll be happy to show you the best food places.
ikaruseijin01 As long as they are ratty looking! Haha. -Eric
There's one my germaphobe friend won't go into. Does that help?
ikaruseijin01 Noted! -Kyde
ikaruseijin01 Sounds perfect! -Eric
Just found your channel. Thanks for sharing. I remember eating mango, kinda sour and crunchy. My mother like it that way.
throughly enjoyed your travel videos !
basusri1120 Yay!
Congrats on 20k subs!!!!
Danny valar morghulis Thanks! -Kyde
Enjoy all of your videos. They are fun and informative.
Lean and healthy with nutritious ingredients, delicious Vietnamese spring rolls are one of my favorite dishes. One spring roll has appropriate portions of protein, fiber and carb in the form of shrimp/pork, vegetables/herbs and rice paper/vermicelli, respectively, not to mention beans and nuts in soybean and peanut sauce. Yummy!
I swear you guys post the coolest videos! Huge fan. I'm actually very jealous because you guys are basically living my dream lol but my school has a study abroad program I got into and so next spring I'll actually be studying in Nagoya! Maybe whenever you guys get back from Vietnam you could do a video on Nagoya? Possibly comment some must do's!? Although I already have a long list from watching every single video on your website (:
Ricky Martin !!! So happy to hear about your study abroad future! We do want to go to Nagoya but don't have a trip planed right now! Sorry! -Kyde
Ricky Martin Haha, we were in Vietnam for only two weeks or so in January. We have been back in Japan for a while. Don't think we will be in Nagoya anytime soon though, it's a bit far from Tokyo. -Eric
Already crave for part 3 guys!)
So tired but MUST watch video!
Ivan sanchez Good luck! -Eric
Wow, loved the food commentary, on to the rest!
Glad you enjoyed! -E
The powder that u mentioned when u were at Vung Tau. This powder made out of dry shrimp. It normally go with this pancake. Thanks for sharing the video !!!
I seen the temple from your video and bring back my memory that I have visit this temple before during visit cu chi tunnel
Thanks for the tour ! Good job singing Chubby Checker on the Limbo Rock.
Love you guys. All the best to you.
Thanks! -E
I loooove your hair Kyde! Always switchin it up
Miles McKinley Thanks! -Kyde
I always laugh at 10:10 K: "...What are those muffins called?" E: "Bagel Bites???"
+Craig Chastain Hahahha
hey great video keep up the good work
Basketball Every Day Thanks! We will! -Kyde
watched and loved!
thank you for sharing.
That's exactly the way I felt sitting at one of those restaurants outside feeling the ocean breeze, eating some delicious food. Not fancy, just nice and comfortable. You have the right attitude, Eric. Food is half the experience. When i was in VN, i just ate and drank what I wanted and I didn't get sick AND I had a lot of fun. Of course, i didn't just eat anywhere, but if it looked clean and smelled good and the food looked good, i ate there (and there were others eating there).
1. That goat IS amazing.
2. I love gummies too, Eric! I enjoy comparing all of them and making my own "scientific experiment" candies by merging them together.
3. Love watching all of your adventures on a big flat screen mac, so neat!
hiiiimymelody It prob means they used goat milk. But it could be pee!
Kyde could literally be a traveling food critic! Look into it! Thanks for the vid!
dylan radcliff I would try my best! -Kyde
Keep us posted!
Hi Kyde and Eric, the shredded "daikon" is actually green papaya we used a lot of those in Vietnamese dishes.
Your friendly fruit reviewer here.. rambutans get their name from the malay word "rambut" which means hair. And it's pronounced rahm-byoo-tahn. Also.. I'm pretty sure the durian you ate was actually jack fruit, they aren't related, but look similar. Juicy fruit gum gets its flavor from jackfruit. Love your videos btw, can't wait for the next one.
Jared Rydelek Thanks for all the info! -Kyde
Always love the videos :)
WrecklessEating Thanks! -Eric
Whoa, did not see that coming.
Its funny the words you guys look for to describe flavors , awesome video (:
da1fromdaheightz Thanks! -Kyde
Hi guys, the wife and I really enjoy your Vietnam videos. The Daikon looking thing is actually sliced green papaya. Thai and Vietnamese use it a lot as a salad.
Long Nguyen Thanks for the info! -Kyde
I've been there and it's a very cool place to visit, the beach is the best with room temperature water and friendly people. You guys remind me of Quentin Tarantino and Jamie lee Curtis .......thx for sharing.
DarkstarDarth Yea, that little city was great. Thanks for enjoying! -Eric
Your adventures make me so jealous! If I'd have just quit my job to travel the world, maybe I'd have some vacations half as awesome as yours.
Ah! I love watching your vidoes. I have it set up so I get a notification on my phone whenever you upload a video. I have to stop whatever I'm doing to watch it right away. You guys are just so normal and relatable, and it only makes me more jealous...
Park Ra Byul Haha, that's funny. I hope you aren't a surgeon or airline pilot or something, I'd hate for you to drop something super important just for a video of ours! Glad you enjoy them. It's really nice to hear they come off as relatable, that makes me really happy. Thanks so much! -Eric
Ram-Bu-Tan, great fruit. In Asia, mango is eaten both green and ripe. The green thing at the breakfast was green Papaya. Eric's chicken and ddd was a Chinese dish. It cooked in 5 spices soup the same way as you probably have seen pork with skin cook in red sauce on street shops.
Thx for Sharing😃
Nice Country n hope you all keep Safe and have Fun too👍✌️✊🏽
Vietnam IS Nice.....
@ 10:43 Yes, it's called Rambutan by English and Chom Chom by Vietnamese. The rambutan is a medium-sized tropical tree in the family Sapindaceae. The name also refers to the fruit produced by this tree. The rambutan is native to Malaysia and other regions of tropical Southeast Asia.It is closely related to several other edible tropical fruits including the lychee, longan, and mamoncillo. (wiki)
Will Eric become violently ill? Will Kyde drop more random references like "Raiden hat food ladies"? Will there be more obscene statues? Find out in the next installment of Kyde and Eric!
YES!
Designandrew I can't wait! -Kyde
A cliffhanger for sure!
Haha I want to see a "Previously on Kyde and Eric" and then show the scene where Kyde threatens to cut off Eric's oxygen with some dramatic music lol
Designandrew
Maybe that's how we should start every episode! -Kyde
I missed VN so much, with all the good food and fruits. So jealous of u guys.
Where can I find part 3, I couldn't find it? Your clip was so amazing, glad to see people gradually come to Vietnam. That was a memory look back to my hometown, Saigon ^^ Thank you for making this
loc nguyen Hi, glad you enjoyed the video! Part 3 will be uploaded next week. -Eric
Actual METAL spoons in the Oreos? :P
Anyway, some comparing observations after watching relentlessly the old 'round the world' videos in a row and then this afterwards
- You notice how everything's covered in such a detail now
- Camera stays focused all the way through, hehe
- Your food descriptions have improved SO MUCH in 5 years, before it was like one or two random sentences and now it's half way to professional food tasting show with the gained experience, there's really no need for you to go to any 'taste schools' :P who knows how it'll be in five years
- Kyde's hair :)
But I love the oldies too
SonnyViceR Glad to here the past and present are both good! Thanks for the compliment about my hair! -Kyde
SonnyViceR Haha, yea we have tried to expand the videos a bit and take a bit more time to get nicer shots when we can. But we try not to let it become a full blown professional production as I think that will ruin the charm we may have. Thanks for the feedback! -Eric
I'm pretty sure the dipping sauce for the rice paper rolls was peanut sauce which they mix in with oyster sauce. And the other box of food is Vietnamese dumplings! Central Vietnam (Hue) is well known for them. Its basically rice and tapioca flour filled with diced prawns and pork :) it's the best!
So tomorrow I am going to have minor out patient surgey done, which I am kind of nervous about. So I was glad that I got to watch this to help clam me down (doctors really, really freak me out). But the ending had me cracking up. Like I'm laughing so hard that I'm crying! "What are we going to use the spoon for? Heroin?" Bahahahaha! Omg. You guys are so funny. Thank you for always making videos that make me feel better when I'm down.
Jenny Johnson I hope your operation is going/went well. Glad we could help you laugh when you were nervous, I know exactly what you are saying about needing a distraction from things sometimes. Heroin works too! Haha. -Eric
Jenny Johnson Hope everything went well and your recovery is easy! -Kyde
Kyde and Eric Thank you, everything went well! I was still very nervous though. And I think they would frown upon me showing up with heroin in my system. Haha That would be pretty funny though!
Great vid....
Great video still watching it thank you for making my day guys best couple I'm saving up some money so I can travel to Japan
jcreel234 Awesome! Hope you make it here soon! -Eric
jcreel234 That's great! -Kyde
@ 35:49 Vietnamese Spring Roll served with peanut sauce @ 36:45 It's called Banh Bot Loc Tran (Vietnamese Clear Shrimp and Pork Dumpling)
That made me smile. I love waiting for your videos. How many do you have to go?
ellie vacc Not sure how many it will break into at this point! -Kyde
@ 9:02 It's called Banh Bong Lan Trung Muoi (Cupcake with Salted Egg Yolk)
Lol I love how you said it has a consistency of a pumpkin but taste like a mango
Man seeing kyde all up in these comments is wild. A different time!
@40:55, those are shredded green papaya. Vietnamese love to use those in their nuoc cham (sweet and sour fish sauce).
Hi guys! As always I love your videos! Here in South Florida it is hard to locate unique Japanese food that you guys can eat everyday. I did find a oriental market and they have lots of Japanese food. I found a unique drink called Calpis. It is suppose to be very popular in Japan. It taste pretty good
Hahah, yea Calpis is everywhere here. It's like...carbonated milk. I like it! -Eric
mrreddragon0000 Glad you found a market! Cook up something good! -Kyde
"When your on your deathbed I am going to take your oxygen away" Kyde is secretly scary
@ around 36 minutes... I believe that brown sauce with peanuts for the spring rolls is Hoisin sauce or that's at least what my friends and I call it. From Wiki- "Hoisin sauce is a thick, pungent sauce commonly used in Chinese cuisine as a glaze for meat, an addition to stir fries, or as dipping sauce. It is darkly coloured in appearance and sweet and salty in taste."
@ 40:48 shredded green papaya. A soy-based dipping sauce. chillies, raw, dark oily chilli sauce, and a smooth fluorescent red condiment.
Definitely digging Kyde's haircut!!
Herman Gonzalez Awesome! Thanks! -Kyde
These videos are so refreshing. Thanks for sharing :)
Also,is it common for so many things to have English text? The music in the restaurant was in English and I saw English on some of the receipts, signs, dishes etc. Is it to cater to tourism or because the locals are multi-lingual?
Nonstop Noah English is just that pervasive. It does help with tourism. The locals aren't multilingual. -Kyde
Another greatly enjoyable video
Eric touched on a subject near the end that I had been thinking about. Your stomachs are constantly being tested by so many unfamiliar foods, often prepared under less than ideal settings. I worry about your digestive comfort riding around in the heat on a motorcycle in an unfamiliar environment. I hope that rest rooms are readily available and that the Vietnamese people are by-in-large friendly to Americans.
Patron Bob
Bob Bell Rest rooms on the road aren't plentiful but the Vietnamese are totally friendly to Americans! -Kyde
at 28:55 what you have a bean sprout inside and flour cake outside. they are available in USA in Asian market
Hilarious! "This is the best restaurant..." Indeed, real things, down to earth!
Herion? Lol! You two make me want to travel with a favorite person! Love all the food experiences!
Karen Smith Do it! Not the heroin, but the traveling! -Kyde
I think Kyde meant Mini muffins when she was trying to describe the pastry. The little muffins that were sold in a bag.
Charity Levengood You are totally right! It was mini muffins! Used to love them! -Kyde
The shrimp thing looks like do it yourself Shrimp spring rolls . Only thing I can find similar on YELP at our local Vietnamese restaurants. Looks fantastic I would eat them for sure
Good job!
tan nguyen Thanks! -Eric
Looks like Shredded Papaya...u eat like a Salad!
Very Fresh& Healthy Food there👍
Vietnam is Very Nice n Beautiful Country !!!
You guys lucky to get to traveling The World n Experience Different Cultures.
You Are Brave Eating All Exotic Foods 👏👏👏
