"so if you guys are watching this in 2020..." Whoa it felt like you were talking to me. Oh Eric, you had no idea you would have an even smaller tub later on.
When I started watching this I was like "No way I'm watching an hour of this." lol I totally watched the whole thing. Good stuff guys, you seem like people I'd hang with.
jagrcantakeyou Haha, glad you enjoyed it! I know how you feel about long videos, usually I think the same thing. -Eric
jagrcantakeyou Awesome! -Kyde
I'm watching this for the second time! I'm kind of addicted to this adorable couple. Don't watch their videos every evening, but when I want to relax and be amused, entertained and fascinated all at the same time, they really make me happy.
I get so excited when I see a new video from you guys!
colleen JAY : )
You guys are great
Hey, i watched it in 2020 lol
You should do a tour of your new new apartment.
Yea, we need to.
WOW, as someone who has lived in Japan and just had to do a Japanese apartment hunt last month, I was expecting that place to be so much more expensive! It's huge and being in central Tokyo.. Wow. Thats amazing. Great video ♡
Mae Megumi Thanks! Hope your hunt went well! -Kyde
Just discovered your channel today. Love you guys! Thanks for the apartment tours, i enjoyed them a lot. My son has that ikea owl lol he loves it
Yay, Thanks for the great video update !!! Love your new apartment !!!
Susan Moniz Thanks! -Eric
hey guys that organia is badass. I used to get it in chicago all the time
It turns off because you're pushing the draw back in fully and closing it. It's a grill you're supposed to leave it open a fraction to allow the heat to escape. If you didn't it would over heat and cause a fire, that's why it has the safety feature. :D Also it's pronounce Orange - Jean - a :D It cracked me up when you said jina hehe...
Love that appartment! Thanks for making great videos. They are both entertaining and educational! love you guys!
Thanks! Glad you enjoy them! -E
Congrats on the new apartment.
Great video, Thanks for sharing.
Love all your videos.
oZiKiDDa Thanks! -Eric
I don't know who you guys are.
Or how I even managed to get to this video...

+answr42 Fantastic! We have a Yokohama video on our channel and another one coming soon! It's a wonderful city and on our list of places we'd certainly live. Enjoy it! -Eric
Kyde and Eric, Thanks for the video. Missed you guys for a while.
Best always
Rick
*****
If you guys wanna see a real expensive country come to switzerland..
Or Norway.
you have the same mailbox number...as in your last last home
Love the new apartment, guys! Thanks for posting the video. Let's see some of the surrounding area next ... maybe a restaurant or two?
HighCotton8 Yea, I have a couple of places I want to share already, actually. -Eric

Way to build the anticipation guys, lol.
;-)
How would I know?
Nelson4207 Comeon dude, you are clearly the authority on our chairs. -Eric
Thank you, Eric and Kyde, for sharing with us your experience with your new flat. This video was - like all of your videos - very interesting! This flat is definitely much nicer than the last one. Have many wonderful hours in it!!!
Maike Vogt-Lueerssen We will! Thanks so much! -Eric
Great videos. My Mom lived in sendi for 10 years and taught at kuoku hoku high
school.I was able to visit her for 2 weeks and fell in love with the place. So really enjoy your work.I live in Bethlehem P.A. U.S.A. and have no plans to move..I enjoy living through you adventures..
I wish I could move to Japan.. but it requires so much. tourist waiver 90 days or short term long term visa. or a visa for work, and student, and I don't have a degree...sooooo yea lol
They don't want you there.
54 Minutes!? GOTTA GET SOME POPCORN!
this was extremely helpful! you guys are so fun.
thanks~!
PescaMaryan Awesome! Glad it helped! -Kyde
Kyde and Eric yeah if you do any more practical videos like this (medical, how much things cost besides housing, working in japan etc) i would love it!
Cool vid, You guys interact so well, love the candor.
This is still alot cheaper than living in San Francisco.
I agree with the it's about time you guys put up a video! All of of us have been waiting to see what yall have been up to. THANKS! ! We're good for a couple of days.
MrEddie12334 Haha, hopefully more than just a couple of days! We can't make videos as fast as we'd like to, unfortunately. -Eric
Well we're faithful. We'll wait as long as we have to. Thanks again.
I'm really glad I found your videos! These are really fun to watch! :D
Ariah Teaney I'm glad you found them too! Thanks! -Eric
Congratz!!! I love your new place! So happy for you guys lots of love
Cadis Etrama Di Raizel Thanks!
You guys have the best personalities. Subscribed! I thought I was cool, but you two take it to a whole new level. Moving to Japan very soon, and I can't get enough of vids like these.
ChrisCullenRacing Hahaha, glad you enjoy! Thanks! Good luck on your adventure! -Eric
Nice video. Gives a clear picture about the cost and life style in Tokyo. Good work. I like it.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed! -E
Fantastic video yet again guys. I love your videos! You're stuff just proves, if you have great subject matter, nothing else really matters. Terrific! Kakoii! Imoshiroi!!
Bobby Lopez Creative Thanks! -Eric
Been watching a lot of Tokyo apartment videos today... finally stumbled upon some cool peeps! I subscribed!
Thanks! Glad you found us! -E
Great Video - thanks for sharing guys! Really like the parting shots, they add a lot to the videos! Eric - when we going to see a "little train" video? I'd love to see more about the trolleys.
drmlabs Yea, we gotta get on that train and make a video! So cool! -Eric
I really really like trains. Been from Ohio to Portland Maine; Ohio to Quebec, and Ohio to Portland Oregon on trains. (that one was a bit too long lol )
great video guys! Love the Suntory Boss coffee machine near the house haha.
Thanks for uploading a new video. Apart from waiting impatiently for the latest "Why did you come to Japan" videos on UA-cam, you guys are the next best thing (coming a close third is Vice News). I especially enjoy the videos of your overseas trips. You guys rock!
Bravo Charlie Thanks! The overseas trips are by far our favorite videos to make! Hopefully we can do more in the (near-ish) future! -Eric
I was having insomnia last night and stumbled across your videos. Enjoyed watching them. You two are an awesome couple!!
Ann Osullivan Awesome! Hope you got some sleep eventually! -Eric
Finally a new video and it's long and I have time to enjoy it! Yay! Also, I got the drive-through reference, (have you guys heard Mandatory Fun yet?) and whiskey and orangina? Really? I'd try vodka... I can't believe you guys dropped over 4K on a new place, but to me that's an indication that you're doing well and I believe you guys deserve it. Mad love and peace. :) Looking forward to many exciting videos of Tokyo life! (That hopefully aren't a month apart...:P)
Joe Blow Hah, haven't heard Weird Al's new album yet...just a few of the singles. I need to get time to give it a fair listen. -Eric
Hi, good to see you both again. Love your new apartment. So bright. Happy for you both. Very nice.
Luv my dog Thanks! -Eric
I bumped into your videos while searching for Japan's food related video, love your videos, awesome and thanks for sharing, hope you guys will continue making videos and I just subscribed.
I use my rice cooker for all sort of cooking too. I cook porridge, soup, steaming (egg, fish or etc), chicken rice and etc.
Vianluv4ever Awesome, thanks so much! Hope you continue to enjoy our videos! -Eric
Vianluv4ever Chicken rice! Like Singaporean style? That's a great idea! -Eric
I LOVE your new apartment :) SO AMAZING!
***** Thanks! -Eric
I'm happy to see you guys are still in Japan. I saw your first Japan videos a few years back and last week I decided to check and see if there were any newer videos and I was surprised to see you were still enjoying life in Tokyo. I lived in Japan for many years and your videos make me want to go back immediately.
frizlaw Hah! Thanks for checking in with us! Yep, still here, but we've lived in a few different places and as you see now are in Tokyo. Glad our videos give you that good nostalgic feeling! -Eric
very good video! you two are a good team. My wife and I are moving to Japan and this was helpful.
Robert Miller That is excellent! Hope your move goes well and you have a blast in Japan. If you are in Tokyo, let's meet up! -Kyde
Good to know from you again guys! Congrats & thank you for the explanations about the (high) cost of living in Japan. Your new home is inside the Yamanote line area and as you say on the video that increases the rent a lot.
Sergio Lorenzi Yea, the rent is high but I think it's fair considering the location. -Eric
Awesome video ! This new apartment seems quite a huge improvement in your quality of life, even though it's rather expensive. The detailed expenses in the end were very informative, now I know what to expect. I only saw a Kumamon towel, I was expecting more Yuru Kyara related items, shame :P Also, looking forward for that train video ! Thanks for sharing
Francisco Araújo Did you see my shirt!? Melon-Kuma! -Eric
Great breakdown :) I may have to use this in the near future.
stvsueoka1 Sweet! -Eric
That is a GORGEOUS apartment. Congratulations on finding it and on the move!
terrakie Thanks! We love it too! -Eric
Great videos, very informative and hugely entertaining. I love the compact Japanese apartments and in comparison to London quite cheap.
Keep up the great work
timfy2162 Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! -Eric
First time watching your stuff guys and I've got to say this is some really good information. My fiancé and I are looking to move to Tokyo to teach English soon, so this info is a big help. Hope you enjoy your new place (hope Golden Balls does too) Cheers
David Knox Hi guys, glad you found the video informative! Hope your plans to come to Japan work out, it's a really fun experience. Good luck! -Eric (and Goldenballs)
Just found your channel and the videos are really interesting. Thanks
Gazette2008 Yay! Thanks! -Eric
The new place looks awesome!
Polesp Thanks! -Eric
Re-watching and its still good! I didnt notice th3 shoes hanging on the back of the door the first time, thats a good idea tho
hi! i'm a newcomer and this is only your 2nd video i'm watching but i'm really enjoying them :D it seems like you two have a really cool life and i was wondering how did you meet each other? c:
Awesome video again :) been pleasure to follow your journey, and finally someone put this matter with rental costs etc. together. Been wondering about realistic costs and also asked a friend who lives in Tokyo but couldn't just get "everything" and was always left with questions. In this video things are summed up really well! Greets from Finland.
wractale Awesome, glad this helped you understand! -Eric
I love ur chanel u guys are so much fun :)
Jardel Edebran Thanks! -Eric
great vid! Great info
This is very helpful. Your apartment looks nice!
Roi Ferrer Thanks! -Kyde
We missed you guys! This new video is again so interesting and so cute! Hugs! And hi from Moscow!
KOBA971 Wow, Moscow! I was there once when I was 17. Thanks, by the way! -Eric
Fascinating video. I've never been to Japan but I'm surprised that apartments come unfurnished. It must be really tough buying appliances and air conditioning. You made your pad look really nice!
Jonathan Deller Yea, we were surprised when we moved to Japan and were confronted with a literally empty apartment. It's not so hard now as when we move we just bring our washing machine and lights with us! -Eric
This was helpful. I'm planning on moving to Japan, and getting an idea of the costs is really great.
Glad we could help! Enjoy your adventure! -E
Wow, this video was really good. Thank you guys for sharing and opening up your home. This was my first video so I have to ask, what do you guys do for a living in Japan?
Alexis Ramirez I just finished a job teaching English for two years and Kyde proofreads financial documents that have been translated from Japanese to English. -Eric
Good luck with your new home in Tokyo! Omg that window scared the poop out of me. I love how the toilet paper roll works, kind of jealous. The apartment looks so much bigger and brighter, congrats! Have fun with your "Star Mode Mood Settings!" Beekee (Biki) is the cutest! I love following your guys through your life adventures. I had no idea you have to higher a realtor to find an apartment, I'm so used to doing everything on my own. Key money sounds silly, you think letting you live there is good enough. Bomb Insurance? Wow! A key/lock replacement free without having any of those, that's unfair! Having a Guarantor Company is a good idea, especially one that speaks English. Have a great time in Tokyo, I wish to you meet you both the next time I visit Japan. Thanks for sharing!
Marcel Stevahn Thanks for the feedback! We're happy you learned some things via our video! If you're in Tokyo shoot us a message, perhaps we can arrange a time to meet. -Eric
Oh yes your videos are quite informative and fun, love them all! Really!? I would love to meet with you both when I become a JET, roughly in 1.5 - 2 years so we'll see where you two are then. Gambatte! P.S. The costs of living in Tokyo are as high as I thought and higher so thanks for the insight to how much to save for apartment life.
The first video i watched and i still dont understand why you guys have little subs BOTH OF YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!!!!😃👍
+WF4L Thanks!!
OMG, i have heard about the small and high cost App. in Tokyo. For me it is really claustrophobic... Thank for sharing!
Totally loved this!😎
+Angela Bright Yay!
Great video guys! I like the new apartment, a definite upgrade on your last one. Considering the location, the prices all seem very reasonable, although as you said, some of those fees seem a little unnecessary! Compared to London prices, you guys have yourselves a very good deal there.
Matthew Epps Yea, we have been surprised to hear from everyone how expensive London is! Thanks, by the way! -Eric
cold air goes down and hot air goes up. the top floor there is a window ( if I saw it right) just leave it open, the hot air will go out. if not, open a small window on the down floor so cold air can get in and push the hot air up and out. ( don't do it to long, you can get ill of the breeze)
Thanks for the tour guys, awesome apartment and a real eye opener on how much i will have to put aside before making the move to Japan.
By the way having the stuffed animals isn't weird, I have a few myself, they are for memories and will always make you smile.
Keep it up guys!
Nzuser1 Thanks! Good luck with your move! -Eric
Great new place, much better than the old apartment! Thanks for the shout-out about the candy, still enjoying it?
Marco Peters Yea, still enjoying it! We have some things we want to send your way soon, sorry for the delay. I'll let you know when it's on your way. -Eric
You guys are awesome for explaining all these details :)
ROXANNAARIES Thanks! -Eric
Yeeeeey, another video, great guys, nice to see you again!
(btw, October is almost coming, i don't know if you remember me from fb lol)
Irving Armenta I'm sorry, lining up names from FB and YT is hard. What is the importance of October? -Eric
Kyde and Eric Ah, i understand, well, i sent a message, to arrange a meet up around that date, it's my first time going to Japan, but it was a really early request, around June? i think, i guess there must be a record on FB :)
Irving Armenta Ahh, ok. Welp, shoot us a message a week or two in advance and we cann see what's up! -Eric
hi, best video so far, i have watched four part series (living in japan ) and this video one after other while waiting for U.S Open Mens final to start .
cool band-aid .
Rohan Chitale Thanks! Glad you are enjoying the videos! Hope the tennis match went to your liking, I talked with some disappointed people here today! Haha. -Eric
WEIRD AL! YES! I UNDERSTOOD IT! You guys are amazing. Also, I'm not sure if anyone has told you, but that grill on your stove is a fish grill! (3,000 people probably have lmao) You add enough water to cover the bottom and place your fish on the grill and it steams it! By the time the water is gone the fish is done!
MsBlooberri Haha, yea, we make fish sometimes now! There is a big picture of a fish on the grill, we are just dumb sometimes. -Eric
This was such an informative and interesting video. Love the new apartment. That toilet alone is worth the money 😊 Kyde looks so cute in that sundress and they both seem so happy. Can't wait for the next video. Also, I wonder if they allow pets in the apartment and if you have to pay a pet fee.
Tricia Warren If you want a pet it depends, but there is almost always a extra fee. One place said it was an additional one time payment of TWO MONTHS rent, non-refundable. Crazy. -Eric
Holy crap! That is crazy
This was a really great video and very helpful, in a few years I really want to move to Tokyo and the ending helped me figure out things a lot. The only thing I am worrying about now is being able to adjust to yen from us dollars, but i'll eventually get it.
다니엘 - It's not too tricky. There are apps for smartphones to make it super easy. -Eric
The new apartment looks really nice :) I love how open and light it seems with all the windows.
MelCanJapan Yea, I love it too! It's delightful in here! -Eric
Love the apartment! Love the videos! Keep it up!
Question: Do you guys welcome/greet your neighbors, like baking them a pie or something? lol
3173girl Haha, outside of the cities people (seriously) give little towels as a hello, but from our experience no one bothers talking to anyone else in the city.
Make more videos~ Love you guys channel. Will you be in Japan 2014-2015?
Ediliana Estrella We will! Not sure how long we will be in Japan. We have big plans, though! -Eric
Hi. From the future here. Just doing some quick exchange rate math, rent + maintenance fee in 2014 would have been around $1,070USD a month, but today it would be around $850USD a month. That is wild. Anyway, thanks for all the info. Planning a month long Tokyo stay, your channel has been a solid resource.
My initial hesitation on seeing the almost 1 hour runtime proved unfounded. Ya'll need yer own full-on web/tv series beyond YT. Awesome vid! Subbed 😊😀
oneroarmouse What we've got going right now is pretty sweet! Glad you enjoyed the video even though the time stamp was a bit daunting! -Kyde
Sink/toilet is a great idea! I've heard of people wanting to pioneer such things in the US, still don't see them today.
So good to see you guys again! Thought you got lost! :D
Kristi Evans Nope, just busy! -Eric
nice to see you guys settled in your new apartment. Eric, how is your commute from your new place?
nghtraven Our commute is about even, around 30 minutes each. -Eric
thank you so much for this. i really love your videos. the burma series was incredible. the whole bike thing was really fascinating. btw: your apartment is so nice. i was really bracing myself for the ridiculous cost of your rent only to discover that is it nearly half of what we're paying for our 1-bed flat in central london. it hurts so bad. i don't know why or how we do it. even a room in a shared house these days is around £200 a week. btw know of any jobs in rural pennsylvania?! i think it's time to move out!
jez buttons Yea, everyone is saying London is crazy expensive. We want to visit the UK, but I don't think we will be staying, haha. Oh, glad you dug the Burma series! It was fun to shoot! -Eric
i am still enjoying your video's
wow very interesting guys, good to know all these costs.
chakrit pimchaipoom Glad it was useful for you! -Eric
Most Japanese don't own a toaster, they primarily use the grill to make toast and fish. Also, the cover on the grill (between the two burners) must be removed when the grill is in use. The manufacturers also say to fill the bottom of the grill with water when grilling fish or meat to cut down on smoke and burnt bits, maybe that would decrease the chance the grill turns itself off due to overheating. Hope that helps.
Great Apt! Interesting to see the actual numbers,do many people own there places?
Julie Goodwin People own houses, and I know it's possible to buy an apartment but they tend to be more expensive places from what I have seen. -Eric
travelling with Kyde must be very exciting, she's very lovely person :) greetings to you both
For real! She's wonderful! -E
Yes new video!!!!!!
Congrats on the move, the new place looks bigger and prettier. I recently moved too, it's quite stressful and there's too much to do! ^0^
***** Yea, it seems like everyday there is a list of new things to do. I still have to change our address with our banks! Argh! -Eric
There so totally is! Wow, you still haven't done that, lol?! We changed the address for all our important stuff before we moved. We also subscribed to a service that redirects our post from the old house for 3 months so we can sortout the unimportant stuff we missed. It's even worse moving to a bare bones house where you have to lay down carpets and whatnot! ¬_¬ (thanks for your reply Eric!)
Thanks guys, that is quite a large apartment. Very nice, enjoy your new area :)
BrokeAB Thanks, will do! -Eric
Moving to Japan March 2015! Your videos are addicting! Thanks for posting.
Tasha Appel Awesome! Good luck! -Eric
6 years and this video had a weird amount of nostalgia for me.
had to rewatch that mad tv episode haha I never realized key and peele were in that bit
I know it's done and dusted. But did you guys ever consider moving to another region/city of Japan? Osaka, Kobe, Fukuoka etc?? Cos it's definitely cheaper outside Tokyo, like you say. Or are both your jobs not easily replaced?
nigelo92 Kyde's new job would be quite difficult to replace. We have a secret desire to live in Hokkaido though. Especially in the summers. Haha. -Eric
Nice new place^^
Careful^^ That toaster bites.
LOL love those band-aids xD
I don't want to sound overprotective guys, but you did change the Combination on the front door, right? ;)
Daniel McGregor Of course we did! Now it's 1111 ! -Eric
Wow. Same combination as my luggage ;D
