    Paul has delivered again. Unbelievable the frequency with which he blows out one powerful app after the other. Very useful in the original sense of the word, but I would definitely feed it into synths more often. Combined with a bit of layering with some granular stuff (btw, does it have multi-out?) I'm sure it works well, not only for soundscapes. But good to have a very capable strummer in case a ‘real’ guitar or piano is needed. And agreed, adding own chords via external midi would be a great benefit, along with the other things you mentioned in the video. There is not the slightest doubt that Paul will soon complement and you feel in good hands. Top tutorial, thanks Gavin!

    I bought this a couple of days ago and began the journey...so today I did no work ..work but rather spent all day producing piano and guitar accompaniments to piano motifs and choral stuff I have been working on. The work flow is amazingly rapid and sonically the app is very malleable and therefore I found my creativity enhanced. I took your tip in relation to using Mosaic for humanization and found this worked really well. In a world short of resources we in the AUM community are blessed with the huge array and quality of tools available.
    Knowing that AUM is potentially migrating to the next generation of Macs I’m getting my house in order while top quality apps are still in the price region of a Pint ,a Pie and a packet of crisps.
    Best Limbic 🙏🦄🎩👏👏👏👏👏👏

      @GavinskisTutorials  3 роки тому

      Sounds like a great day. I love how you can also never resist the comparisons between app prices and pints, pies and a packet of crisps. Given the price of a pint these days, getting a nice app or three instead certainly seems like a bargain.

    • @Limbiclesion
      @Limbiclesion 3 роки тому

      Gavinski’s Tutorials It’s so true re the bargain aspect and the throw away statements about pies and burgers. ..possibly including kebabs and buckets of God knows what 🤣🤣.. I see the smallish but growing community of Aum v3 users and developers as the new wave of musical explorers .... i see this technology exponentially diversifying...expanding scope ...increasing in cost 🤭..but right now in these Klondike times we are in we.. you ..me .. almost anyone can achieve wonders for very little investment ( exhibit 1 Piano Motifs) and may I say a little music theory. Following trends and tech developments the platform in my opinion will go global and main stream on Apple lab tops imminently...almost certainly becoming more exclusive in financial terms. I’m not a communist by any means but I believe artistic expression of musicality is a wondrous freedom,and the ability to express should be accessible to anyone of any ability level and not suppressed by financial exclusion.🙏🦄🎩🧘‍♂️ 🎶🎵🎵🎵🎵🎶

      Yes, that's a real worry, we've definitely had it good til now. Frankly though, a lot of products are just not ready for top shelf prices. Far too many iOS apps are too buggy to justify anything near desktop prices. So it will be interesting to see how that plays put in the end

      Lol, you're entitled to your opinion and thanks for sharing, bit harsh though! I think the picking in particular sounds very decent. Some of the strumming patterns can sound a bit clunky though for sure. Talking the delay off, playing with the eq and the guitar sound font etc might help. For my personal uses its definitely something I'll use more to send midi to synths, mind you

    I think Paul has come up with a very cool app for both guitarists + non guitarists..
    Guitarists should be able to customize any of the patterns very easily + quickly to get what they’re looking for.. being able to simply tap on the fretboard to make a custom chord and/or voicing would really be cool.. not even sure if it’s possible BUT I like to dream..😁
    Sometimes we don’t have ideal conditions to record our guitar rigs (acoustic or electric) and need to get our ideas down no matter what.. hey, we might not even have a guitar nearby.. so, this is a useful tool in that regard.. obviously it can go much beyond that once we connect it to non-guitar sounds..
    RANDOMIZE Pattern is very cool.. great potential for good + not so good patterns.. may even come up with something new that you’d actually try to apply to the real instrument - a new (to you) fingerpicking pattern.. 👍
    Midi control options.. 👍
    Great real-world guitar voicings
    I believe Guitarists would love to have these options:
    -custom (user) patterns + variations
    -custom chord shapes (+ custom naming)
    -customized tunings
    -custom stringed instruments (anywhere from 2-8 strings)
    Thanks for covering this expanded version.. compared to the NuRack version that I have right now.. I think the extra features are worth it.. 👍

      Gavinski’s Tutorials the first thing I did when it was first brought out as part of NuRackFX was ask him to make it accordion friendly so I can use from the bass side of my accordion. And as per usual he listened and made the relevant changes. That’s why Paul is the best Dev on iOS. He makes what the end users want, and not what he wants the end users to have. And he updates his apps regularly. I’m hoping I can talk him into adding bass functionality to it soon. I currently use two instances running together in aum, triggered from the chord buttons on my accordion bass. One for guitar strumming / picking and one to produce sustained string chords violins etc, or pad sounds. In theory there is no limit to the number of different parts you can trigger other than the memory on your iPad. I will hopefully be making a video in the next few days showing how to control from a midi accordion. I have also used with my midi guitar although this is more fun than it is practical.

    With 4Pockets i have the same issue as with Cem‘s Plugins. They look good in sense of functionality but they quickly come to an end if you really want the details in functionality or specific use-cases. After a long time this one is a 4Pockets one i am actually interested in again and i will watch development. A „free“ version would shorten this process and i would dive right in. This is not meant as a bashing - it is only my feeling about those developers.

    Massive amount of features in this, it may stop me fiddling with the MIDI guitar > Xequence workflow I’ve got for doing this sort of thing, but perhaps not, as I do a lot of subtle things that way that I can’t see here... I can’t tell if it’s possible to do more than 16 changes in the song editor either, but I’m sure that’s a simple thing to fix... I like the MIDI control it has though, I think the Nurack version can only change chord...

    • @GavinskisTutorials
      @GavinskisTutorials  3 роки тому +1

      The features list mentions something crazy like 200+ chord sequence possible in the song mode. It's probably worth pouring over that app store description carefully for you, as you seem to know exactly what you're looking for.

      up to you - you adjust the number of beats of any section in the song using the ‘length’ button - it’s all in the manual 😁

      Thank you very much, you have helped me a lot. If only I had found your tutorial beforehand ... I could have saved a lot of money.
      The greatest difficulty that most iOS musicians have to deal with is creating interrelated pieces with a specific scheme. You always get stuck somewhere. I used to work a lot with IBassist and the Lumbeat drummers. I can remember that when the bass and drums interacted, a search was made for the quiet or loud sections in order to set the beats accordingly. That would of course be much more convenient if the app would recognize it and handle it accordingly. The criterion was the Velocity because you can then use it according to the set limits. Do you think itś worth to communicate further about this ? How can I send you some screenshots about this?

    • @GavinskisTutorials
      @GavinskisTutorials  3 роки тому

      Thank you Rudolf - I don’t user those apps much and am also very busy to do too much individual assistance - i would strongly recommend you join the audiobus forum (google if necessary) and ask there - great friendly place to get info on iOS music making. See you on the forum maybe, i am very active there, cheers

      No, I don't think so! It shows the names of chords but I didn't notice any ability to do custom chords, unless I missed it. For that function, the app to use would be Tonality. But let me know if I missed something here!

    I purchased this app 2days ago. I’m pretty disappointed in the lack of strum in the strumming feature. The picking feature can be useful. It’s like a glorified arpeggiator at this point.

    • @GavinskisTutorials
      @GavinskisTutorials  3 роки тому +1

      I'll admit to not being crazy about the strumming sounds myself, which is why I was mostly using picking here, good point. The strums tend to sound a bit harsh from what I've seen so far, but I maybe need more time to figure out a way to make them sound better, not sure. Actually that's probably where the eq would come in

    • @GavinskisTutorials
      @GavinskisTutorials  3 роки тому

      Take out some of the mid range is probably a good strategy, same as you would if actually playing an amplified guitar - pretty sure that's probably the solution

      U can just open it in an audio slot or a midi slot. Only Audio slot will be able to produce sound inside Strummer. If u want to send midi from it to another app, just open it in a midi slot, and then select it as a midi source for the app you want to produce the audio
