    I made the eggs, the curry and both the broccoli salads and have them stored in the fridge ready for weekday lunches. Thank you so much for this video, I found it really helpful. I’m working on my PhD and looking after three teenage children and a disabled husband so knowing I have a stash of good food ready to serve is just wonderful.

    Hello Miwa-san....wonderful meal prep videos..thank you so much. I remember my Mom preparing gobo for New Years dinner but not during the year. I admire that you are so organized!! My kids are all grown up and on their own. Your meal prep will help and encourage me to make proper meals for myself. Sometimes I am lazy and will have bowl of cereal for dinner lol. When I make anything with broccoli, I also use the stalk...just peel it and cut to slices or cubes. It’s surprisingly tasty and tender. 😊🇨🇦 oh and my kids used to love Pokémon!!

    I tried burdock root recently and have a new favorite vegetable, it's similar to radish I think. For Americans, tonkatsu sauce tastes like a sweet texas BBQ sauce (a brown sugar and tomato barbecue sauce)

    • @MiwasJapaneseCooking
      @MiwasJapaneseCooking  3 роки тому +1

      oh you tried burdock Kelsey?!! I'm glad that was available for you!
      I'm always looking for the alternative to the tonkatsu sauce since I know it's not always accessible for many of your guys. You just gave me a great one!! I've never tried a texas BBQ sauce, but might be able to find one at the international store in Japan! Thank you !!!

    • @ItstheK
      @ItstheK 3 роки тому +1

      @@MiwasJapaneseCooking I used to work at a fried chicken restaurant in the United States, and the way they made chicken is very similar to torikatsu, except with seasoned flour instead of panko, and a white vinegar hot sauce marinade. The BBQ sauce there tasted exactly like tonkatsu sauce; I think the owners were inspired by Japanese food. The way I make pan fried chicken now uses what I learned then (but it's even better with panko)

    I always try to meal prep but not every week I succeed. Many Japanese recipes are so suitable to meal prep so often it is easier to prepare then people might think. I made a great chicken marinee the other day as a meal prep but I kept coming back to the kitchen for another piece, it was so tasty. I think it will work well with fried tofu, like you make dor agedashi dofu, as well. I cannot get nanohana here but I substitute it with blimi/broccolini or just regular broccoli. Never thought to use gobo in curry! it looks delicious :) I always have spring onion in my fridge as well. I love shiso, both green and purple, and use them fresh but never really liked yukari. My daughter is on Easter break now (so not really meal prepping this week), and at the end of April see has another 2 week break. I always find it hard to mealprep during such times.

    • @MiwasJapaneseCooking
      @MiwasJapaneseCooking  3 роки тому +1

      I am very curious what the sauce you marinated with!! sounds irresistibly delicious! 😁😁same here! my kids are on the spring break till the end of this month😣Im constantly making something now😂✨

    • @tamara4557
      @tamara4557 3 роки тому

      @@MiwasJapaneseCooking the sauce is really simple: mix 3 tbsp vinegar with 2 tbsp sugar, 2 tbsp shiro dashi and 1 tsbp mirin. heat in pan or microwave to disolve the sugar. It's enough for about 400 grams protein (I coat chicken with potato starch and fry in a frying pan but I'm going to try it with tofu as well) and add lots of chopped green onions It's delicious after about 20 minutes marinating but also good cold and it keeps about 4 days in the fridge. Even my husband who doesn't like shiro dashi liked it.
      Yes having kids around for so long can be a challange, especially since they get bored after a few days. I already looking up some recipes I can make with my daughter (preferably easy ones hahaha) I realize since she goes to primari school I am spoiled with more time to do house chores

    Hi, Miwa. I enjoy your videos. Thank you for sharing.
    May I offer a suggestion?
    @2:15, you present broccoli-tofu salad. You could recycle this recipe and present the tofu "dressing" as a "dip" with which to serve Crudités or steamed broccoli. It would make an easy etertaining option which Americans would love.
    Best,
    M

    • @MiwasJapaneseCooking
      @MiwasJapaneseCooking  3 роки тому

      aww thank you for your suggestion! I always get confused with the name of the dish when I name it. like you told me, dip would me more approachable and also the consistency is quite thick so more resemble to dip rather than dressing! thank you for helping me out!

    These recipes look really yummi, thanx a lot! :) only question: I am definitely no knife expert but are you using a nakiri for everything...? Because... You're saying you're not yet good at decorating the shitake, but wouldn't it be so much easier with a paring knife or something? I don't have a nakiri yet, but just considering to buy one for squash and those heavy veggies... No way I could cut shitake with it. :D Anyway, thanks and best!

      @@MiwasJapaneseCooking thank you so much for your answer. I am amazed that you have time to pay attention to each comment.
      It was more of a question, not a remark. I am not as sure about it since there are different opinions about the microwaves.

    How long will your nori seaweed last after packet is opened and how do you store it after opening? Thank you so much.

      Great question! I try to avoid humidity as possible. I usually keep them in a zip back then store in a fridge. My family usually finish within a month.
